I've stopped carrying anything in my pocket that has a clip Exposed on the outside. I have an acquaintance I grew up with who has spent more time Behind Bars than out. At one point when he was out we were hanging out in the subject of him not being able to carry even the smallest pocket knife because he was on Parole came up. He told me that he doesn't care that he can't carry a knife because the first thing he (and many other experienced criminals he knows) does in any room or any crowd is look around and make a note of all the people who have pocket clips visible so he knows who is carrying a knife for him to take from them after they get cold cocked.. I switched to using an L-shaped piece of flat plastic or Kydex inside my pocket that allows the knife to be instantly accessible and presented up right but that the clip is not visible from the exterior. Another option I experimented with is modifying my pants Pockets with a simple segment of cordage on the inside so that the clip could be secured to that and not be visible from the outside. Obviously a flashlight is not a knife but I think the pocket clip could easily be mistaken for one and inadvertently make you a target for someone who is a seasoned Criminal. Essentially when you carry something with a pocket clip visible you are engaging in open carry, along with all of the vulnerabilities associated with that
Not sure if your being paranoid or smart. I'm 6ft 2in (6ft3 in boots, and I'm always in boots) and obviously a problem for anyone that wants to be stupid, even when I'm not carrying. Never been in a fight in my adult life, but I've been told I'm intimidating. I have my keys on a karabiner in my left pocket, with my light on a clip in that pocket, pocket knife on a clip and phone in right pocket. At this point, I guess I should lean into it and be the biggest red flag I can be to a criminal. But I live in the sticks and only rarely go to the city so probably not at much of a risk for being in that situation anyways.

You’re taking advice from a criminal to heart. Will many people assume you have a knife? Sure. Who doesn’t carry a small pocket knife though? I have exact light but with thyrm switchback. I carry it in back left pocket like James did.

I have carried it EDC with the modlite belt holster for over a year at 8 o'clock and it's AWESOME. I work nights but edc 24/7 and the holster is worth the money. I carry a Rats and mag in that pocket now.
Hmm.. maybe they realized the flaw? And you send me some pics on IG boomshays_big_adventure id be interested to see from few angles, pics im finding online dont highlight that aspect
Having lost a few things that were clipped to my pocket over the years I no longer clip items of value to my pocket. I elected to put a loop of paracord through the hole at the top of the clip. That paracord hangs out the top of my pocket allowing me to extract the light. It also allows me to loop the cord around my hand and then around the bezel of the light much like the Surefire Tactician.
Where does he put o-ring? You mean for retention? Raven Concealment used to make a clip that I know Don Edwards really likes and uses with o-ring, and that setup is pretty slick (it doesnt sit as deep as this clip tho). I Havent seen how Pat Mac runs his lights. Post link plz
@@LouisCaras ruclips.net/video/HcNhB48yerw/видео.html You might need a thicker one but he just slips the clip through the o ring so it’s sticking out of his pocket when clipped in
Have you...sent this video into the company? That seems like a pretty big oversight on there part. BDU/tactical type pants may not have this issue. The material is thinner and rip stop. Jeans may be something they don't test their products in. Bringing this to there attention would allow them to adapt that into a new version. What your doing is definitely sacrificing strength for usability. Which is totally understandable in this situation. But, if they know the issue. They may add some additional materials in areas, to make that material that is removed a non issue. Just food for thought.
That convo goes deeper than a gear review. I would need to get into use of light for that one. Some things are harder to convey in video and really do require a class setting to understand fully.
10 min with a nail file and scissors it all it took to fix, shouldn’t need to with what it costs, but i guess its easier this way than being able to add more aggressive retention later
It's those shitty thyrm clips. My cloud defensive handheld did the same. Cloud finally released their low profile stainless clips and they don't hang up at all, slide in nice and easy, and are LOW profile. Do yourself a favor, get a cloud defensive mch

My cloud defensive thyrm clip did not have the ring on the clip side. It looks just like the switchback.

can you "draw" it while seated like that?
Is this in addition to weapon light? I'd assume you carry both?
At the moment I do not have weapon light on my carry guns. This may change tho...My buddy Brian @3Roperations has me seriously thinking about it
Have you thought about slipping an o ring on it like pat Mac does? It might improve the pull out.

Great tip.
But be sure to get more RODE Wireless GO II mics to make the audio way better.
I just gotta get the “write off” people to pay for it LMAO
Damn it Shelton.
I use a Thrunite & it fixes my issue 😅

Maybe someday when you have a little time you could talk about the switchback pocket clip compared to the one you have on your light.

That thing is atrocious compared to the tactician.. Great video man! 👍
Nice 👍

Was I the only one looking for the "But Wait, There More"?
If you act fast and send me your clip, i can customize it for the low low price of 29.99+ Shipping and Handling lmao
unmodified, that clip will tear up/wear out the edges of yer pockets.... definitely a design flaw!

Just carry the tactician. Lol perfect light.
It is a perfect tool for some jobs. Sometimes a grenade is right, sometimes a sniper rifle is better ;-)
