I have seen the show seven times, 3 times in London & 4 in Sydney. The Australian production is the best. I was reluctant to buy the DVD because I thought it would not be anywhere as good as seeing it live. I was happily wrong. The Dvd is brilliant as it shows different camera angles & close ups which you do not see in the audience. I totally recommend the Dvd 10/10.
I came over from Perth this weekend to see this...it was the most amazing set i have ever seen and the story was a great continuation with beautiful music. Everything about it was great!
The show IS AMAZING!!!! Saw it again last night and it just gets better and better! ALW is a genius and the Australian production gives the incredible score the exquisite setting it deserves, Bravo to ALL concerned!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw Premier night in Sydney on 12 Jan. wept all thru' the first half. Absolutely beautiful. Staging, sets, music, acting, singing, the people in the glass prisms...All so beautiful...so very beautiful...
Anna and Ben are every bit as magnificent as Sierra and Ramin, Emmy and Gerard, and Sarah and Michael... Each couple brings their own exquisiteness to this story. Bravo to all!!
I still wish it would come to Broadway, this just looks so amazing. I want to see it live so badly!!!!! So beautiful, the story, the costumes, the music it's all amazing!!!
The staging of this is exquisite! I love the Beauty Underneath mirrors! I am really hoping this is made into a DVD for those of us who can't attend the live production.
I saw it last night! My gosh it was so amazing! So beautiful! Of course, I love the London show too...I love both of them! :) And I love both poto and lnd. They're both so amazing! :) Love it all! :D
When those doors slowly swing open on the BAMS intro (and PotO journey to cemetery music) as they do and he is standing there so tall and formidable and amazing and she faints- that is classic gothic perfection! lol And love how she has her arm around him as he carries her...oh, I hope the U.S. will have the option to this DVD!!!!
Bravo and Brava!! Awesome, simply awesome- the costumes, the designs, the actors...I can only hope and pray that they also make the DVD for region 1 so we Americans will be able to share in this triumph! :)
when they announced/confirmed that this production would be recorded (September 15th) I really was hoping to see Sierra and Ramin -since they will be in the 25th anniversary of POTO it would make sense to have them also in the DVD recording of LND- but now I REALLY want to see Anna and Ben on DVD, they look stunning! Bravo Australia!!!!
I can't wait until this comes out on March 12th 2012, put it on my birthday list because I want a memory of the show even if it isn't the London version, it looks so spectacular and it is pretty much the same music
@davidajsullivan70 The title song was actually first written for the sequel and was premiered at ALW's 50th celebration as the song "the Heart is Slow to Learn" (I'm going to double check my resources, but I know this is true) and was later used in "the Beautiful Game" as "Our Kind of Love" with lyrical and some musical changes. It was finally put into the sequel with title and lyrical changes. It has kind of an interesting history.
I was in London and thought it would be cool to go to the opening of a new Webber show. I bought the soundtrack, listened to it, and liked it. Seeing the show furthered my liking. What I'm trying to say is that there are so many variables that go into forming an opinion about something and not everyone is going to have the same ones to form their opinion.
The BluRay and DVD was released in Australia this week and the production is superb. Having seen the show only a week ago live, the disc is a perfect reproduction of a stunning show. Maybe you can buy it online on several local sites, like JBHiFi Online
Yes, this IS beautiful. Truly beautiful. I want to see the whole production on DVD so desperately (I'm 17 living in Russia so... this now seems my only chance of seeing this marvel well... kinda "live")
@comactortony you can order it on the wal-mart website (release date may 29). there is going to be a cinema showing feb 28 and march 7 at 7:30 if you'd rather check that out before buying the dvd
I have one request from all of you who decide to comment on here, and it is to please respect the opinions of others. You don't have to agree with them, but you should not disrespect them by voting their posts down. Opinions are not right or wrong. They are just thoughts people have one something. We are all apart of the Phantom Family, and family members respect each other. Please show others on youtube that respect is the right things to do even on the internet.
This is STUNNING, and makes way more sense than the original LND, i diskiked the show especially visually, this is how it should like!! Also the staging makes it so much more atmospheric!
The set up of this is marvelous. I like it better than the West End version, with the model Christine. The painting, I think, is much better. And that opening cut of the circus? WOW. I also think these actors did a good job. My heart still lies with Ramin and Sierra, but these did well too. =)
@leftyliz140 LOL- yes Meg gets to be dressed in this version. This is from the first act and is the revamped "Only for You" Bathing Beauty is still in the second act.
@Marselenok Thanks for the update. I'm glad they're tinkering with the lyrics. I just wish RUG didn't take down the recordings of the show that were on here.
This version of Only For You sounds SOOO much better! These sets and costumes look amazing, and I even thought Beauty Underneath wouldn't compete but I'm wrong again :) (Ramin is and always will be my phantom but this is all just amazing)
@timesage61889 they've changed lots of lyrics in this production too, by the way. And definitely to the better. The beginning of "BAMS", a new piece for "DTTH" instead of just repeating"Deal the card/I call your bluff"twice;they've re-written "Dear Old Friend" almost entirely, they've changed"Only For You"lyrics, added a duet between daughter and mother Giry, and they've corrected some of theweakest lines such as Fleck's "It was empty as a tomb" (Now it's "silent", which if more likely to be :))
Yes I can't really remember which came first, ALW's 50th or Beautiful Game..it's all a bit of a blurr. I'm actually a professional performer here in London & have been treading the boards for the past 16 years so I know most of ALW's work back to front and inside out . The point I was trying to make was that musically LND has been lifted from so many of his other shows it can't be called original or his best work. It was reworked so many times in London in was nick named The Paint Never Dries!
@Marselenok Just because there is no official "release date" doesn't mean it isn't in the works. They announced a 'Mary Poppins' Aussie cast recording WAY before setting any dates and delivered. Our Aussie theater reps don't bullshit and just announce nothing. And they filmed CATS, didn't they? Not to mention all the DVDs of Cirque du Soleil live shows that are still touring and are extremely successful and selling out. And this isn't a show that can be easily packed up and put on tour either.
@kendrarussell - I really hope so! A friend told me the 25th anniversary DVD for PotO (that Ramin and Sierra are doing) won't be Region 1 at this time. She even wrote RUG to ask about it and they told her at the time there are no plans to make one but they might in the future- hope "might" turns to "will"- lol ... but as you said, this is a worldwide presentation so chances are high for the U.S. :D
@honeyphan2 I know, in the London production she doesn't fate at all, just sort of gets mad at him about the fact that she had been lured to him after ten years of seperation; here it is so much more dramatic as she actually faints! OMG I wanted the DVD so bad now it looks so nice and extravagant :)
I was lucky enough to see both performances! and I think the Australian staging was better and both casts did fantastic jobs but while I have to give Australia the staging award in my book, I just have to give it to Sierra and Ramin. They were fantastic. Unfortunately when I went to the London one I didn't get to see Ramin. But I have heard him on the CD. Still Tam Mutu was great and I apparently Mutu and Boggess are engaged! Finally Phantom and Christine get to be together!
Extra kudos to ALW for allowing this production to be filmed! This is SOOOO MUCH BETTER than shitty movie versions. Now if only Broadway would follow suit and take a leaf out of his book then there's little need for people to resort to bootlegging, or rather rely much on it. Once again, my sincere thanks to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber for the opportunity to have this on video! Oh God, he could've done this with Phantom, Evita (imagine having DVDs of both the OLC & OBC!!!), & Sunset Blvd... :D
Visually, the set looks so much more amazing here than in London. The show SHOULD look like this - there are a few changes, that I see here that I dislike from the London show, and the costumes aren't as nice as London's - however I haven't seen the Aus production, I would love too - but I doubt it'll ever happen. I will be buying the DVD though!!! :')
Although I am a huge Ramin Karimloo Phan, I like the Austrialian version much better than the London version. The Australian version brings Coney Island alive, in all of it's "period" splendor and glory. Ben Lewis and Anna O'Byrne do a beautiful job portraying people from that time and place...bravissimo!
looks like the melbourne production is again different from the 2 versions i saw in westend. i believe they are trying to improve and make it even better! i wish i can see it again!!!!
@dylantiger2 Glad to see I'm not the only one who knows that version (which is my personal favorite of all the movies). Yes, I do see and hear the resemblence. I can't wait til this comes out!!
@BusinessDog2000 And I also think keeping this production within Australia and canceling the Broadway version would be a good move. I have a feeling it wouldn't get the warm reception that it got here. Too many haters.
@BusinessDog2000 I see what you're saying, but there is a wealth of information out there about this show. People can form an opinion based on seeing it, hearing it, or reading about it. Some people who dislike the show don't like it because of the story, which is easily available on the internet. Some dislike it because it's a sequel to a wonderful show. I was against at first on the basis of it being a sequel.
@Ryoko48 Ok. I wish they would come out with a CD of the show because I think it deserves one. Yet, I can live with a DVD so I can watch whenever I want.
@Marselenok I understand you don't want to get your hopes up, but have a little faith. It doesn't have many places to go after Melbourne (without some huge alterations to the set/stage that will most likely 'kill' the magic of it) so preserving its original glory on DVD would be a very wise move on their side ;) Btw, have you seen the show? Just wondering :)
I saw the London production last night & was very disappointed. There was nothing wrong with the talent or production values, which were outstanding, but the flaws lay within the writing itself. Many phrases of music have been lifted from his other shows or merely one note within a phrase has been changed. The whole of the main song "Love Never Dies" was lifted from "The Beautiful Game" & the lyrics changed. I understand the show has been reworked for Oz but this is by no means his best work
@davidajsullivan70 Yeah. I find it funny how composers lift stuff from their previous musicals. For ALW, Woman in White and Aspects of Love sound almost exactly the same. As for this, the major thing I've heard is a reworking of a couple of melodies from the POTO movie. I would love to hear what else you've heard.
@kendrarussell I hope they do the Australian version! I saw Dr Zjivago (spelling?) in Melbourne and they had a full page advert in the program to Pre-Order the cast album. They have just announced that for "legal reasons" the cast album will NOT be recorded!
@davidjohncooke1 they are wanting to film it, but nothing has truly been confirmed yet. at least not by the cast. they are trying though so hopefully it will be filmed
@BusinessDog2000 And about faith :) We here in Russia have a nice proverb, it says "Hope for the best, but prepare to the worst". That's exactly how I deal with this promised Australian DVD :)
*insert comment about how gorgeous sets and costumes don't make up for a crappy PLOT* *receive enough negative votes from the very people who say that those who don't like the show are trying to squelch the opinions of those who do as to hide my comment* Is it really that hard to just vote up the comments you do like and leave the ones you don't like alone? I don't vote down the opinions of those who do like the show just because I don't like the show. We are ALL entitled to OUR OWN opinions.
WHEW, What a relief..I didn't want 2 see anything from LND because Sequels (usually) SUCK! but, this looks/ sounds amazing! NOW I'M EXCITED I feel a quest coming on, BUT not so sure the local NASHVILLE walmart is going to have this DVD. PROPS for the rich/gorgeous LOOK of the production. but, I'm not surprised, That 'down undah' lot (& yes, that includes WETA in N. Zeal) are SO creative in everything they do! be it stage or screen Aussies give all their productions BIG Heart & Unabashed JOY
@BusinessDog2000 Are they? I doubt it. This show is successful commercially (unlike its London relative) so I really doubt there will be a DVD of this in the nearest future. Look, after Lloyd Webber's only brief announcement not a word about this DVD, nowhere! No release date, no filming date, no confirmation. Repeat: now I doubt there really will be a DVD of this amazing Australian production.
@BusinessDog2000 Look, don't get me wrong! I LOVE this Musical, I ADORE Australian production and I really DO WANT the DVD of it, certainly :) Its just that now I DOUBT it will be made. Not just because of "release date", but because of the fact NOTHING at all has been said about it NOWHERE since the Andrew interview, THAT'S ALL! :) Repeat: I WANT this DVD as much as any other true fan of this Musical, that's why I'm so worried and suspicious about it, OK? :)
@Ryoko48 Is there really a rumor of an Australian Recording? I've only heard of a DVD coming out for this cast and a possible end to the idea of coming to Broadway.
"All of my most secret dreams..." Are trapped behind me ON THE STAAAAGE!! Lol. 0.0 Creepy. Good show, though. It has very addicting music, but I'm not a fan of the plot/ending (I won't give away any details, for those who haven't seen it yet)
@timesage61889 Oh I kinda meant the DVD when I said that. Is there much of a difference between the two? (one has audio and visual while the other just has audio...?)
I have seen the show seven times, 3 times in London & 4 in Sydney. The Australian production is the best.
I was reluctant to buy the DVD because I thought it would not be anywhere as good as seeing it live. I was happily wrong.

This show needed Australia. This production looks absolutely amazing.

Each couple brings their own exquisiteness to this story. Bravo to all!!
I still wish it would come to Broadway, this just looks so amazing. I want to see it live so badly!!!!! So beautiful, the story, the costumes, the music it's all amazing!!!
dear god, every time I hear Ben Lewis sing I melt. Such an amazing singer, I really hope that there will be a recording!! :D
I'm so happy with my dvd. I love this sequel so much.
This one looks so much more...fitting to the first one! Mysterious and haunting! Looks amazing!
We were front row last week & it was simply superb! Extremely emotional.... Just brilliant!!
The sets look absolutely amazing!!!
When Christine faints.. always reminds me of the Music of the Night when she passes out after seeing the Christine in the mirror. Oh so amazing.
This is looking even more amazing with each lot of new clips that are released. Can't wait to see it!
These are much better clips than I had originally seen from this production . Very hopeful for the DVD!
The staging of this is exquisite! I love the Beauty Underneath mirrors! I am really hoping this is made into a DVD for those of us who can't attend the live production.

And love how she has her arm around him as he carries her...oh, I hope the U.S. will have the option to this DVD!!!!
one word for this is simply stunning .
This looks so amazing! Looks like it has much more of a scary circus sort of feel to it. If only Australia wasn't on the other side of the world! :(
Bravo and Brava!! Awesome, simply awesome- the costumes, the designs, the actors...I can only hope and pray that they also make the DVD for region 1 so we Americans will be able to share in this triumph! :)

Bought tickets for my fourth viewing and already planning my fifth!! I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! -3
Im so glad I saw this in Melbourne, Im sooo going to stalk it to Sydney.

that's it,dad, give me my passport to go to Melbourne:),this show amazes me everytime:)))
I cant wait to get this on DVD.
Yes, this IS beautiful. Truly beautiful. I want to see the whole production on DVD so desperately (I'm 17 living in Russia so... this now seems my only chance of seeing this marvel well... kinda "live")
Thank you!! Totally love this!
God bless.
In my opinion Sierra and Ben are on the top of my list. Can't wait to see the DVD on Blu Ray.
Does anyone else want to hug the little boy who plays Gustave? I know I do! He is so cute!
Like poto, my breath has been taken away...once moooore!!!
P.S: I can't wait to get the DVD - thank you so much for making this available to us!
@comactortony you can order it on the wal-mart website (release date may 29). there is going to be a cinema showing feb 28 and march 7 at 7:30 if you'd rather check that out before buying the dvd

bem lewis you are a amazing singer
Btw, I forgot to add. The performances of Ben Lewis and Anna O'Byrne are far more superior than Ramin & Sierra! Love both of them!
So excited!!
yes this will be filmed and released for DVD :D it was all over playbill.com like 2 weeks ago and broadway.com two reliable sources
I was in Melbourne anyway, for other reasons. Saw it 2 weeks ago, Great.
The set up of this is marvelous. I like it better than the West End version, with the model Christine. The painting, I think, is much better. And that opening cut of the circus? WOW. I also think these actors did a good job. My heart still lies with Ramin and Sierra, but these did well too. =)
@leftyliz140
LOL- yes Meg gets to be dressed in this version.
This is from the first act and is the revamped "Only for You"
Bathing Beauty is still in the second act.
@Marselenok They are filming this for DVD. Or possibly already have (all the clips shown here) ;)
@Marselenok Thanks for the update. I'm glad they're tinkering with the lyrics. I just wish RUG didn't take down the recordings of the show that were on here.
Might just go all the way to Australia for this...
This version of Only For You sounds SOOO much better! These sets and costumes look amazing, and I even thought Beauty Underneath wouldn't compete but I'm wrong again :) (Ramin is and always will be my phantom but this is all just amazing)
I would kill to see footage of Beauty Underneath. It looks really cool

I wasn't sure what to think of LND at first. It's looking very promising though.
kg17sw there's a us tour planned for the 2017-18 season.
@kendrarussell - I really hope so! A friend told me the 25th anniversary DVD for PotO (that Ramin and Sierra are doing) won't be Region 1 at this time. WHOA! The Phantom kinda looks like a different type of dracula...if he had a mask that is xD
seen it 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 stars
@honeyphan2 It is supposed to be worldwide release. and universal did the filming. i highly doubt we wont get the dvd.
@dylantiger2
Glad to see I'm not the only one who knows that version (which is my personal favorite of all the movies).
Yes, I do see and hear the resemblence. I can't wait til this comes out!!
@BusinessDog2000 And I also think keeping this production within Australia and canceling the Broadway version would be a good move. I have a feeling it wouldn't get the warm reception that it got here. Too many haters.
@thespianist they may record this version for dvd. i'm keeping my fingers crossed

@TimKoopman10 It’s not new. They’ve taken that out and it’s just 'Only For You’. That and Only For Him have been cut.
@Ryoko48 Ok. I wish they would come out with a CD of the show because I think it deserves one. Yet, I can live with a DVD so I can watch whenever I want.
Wooow the stage looks magnificent, I really like it. What's the name of the new 'Heaven by the sea' song? It sounds really good!
@Marselenok I understand you don't want to get your hopes up, but have a little faith. @Marselenok An announcement has been made on LND AU's Facebook.
The only fault I find with this video is they're overdubbing the Australian footage with the Broadway recording! (Well, I'm pretty sure it is!)
@davidajsullivan70 Yeah. I find it funny how composers lift stuff from their previous musicals. For ALW, Woman in White and Aspects of Love sound almost exactly the same. @davidjohncooke1 they are wanting to film it, but nothing has truly been confirmed yet. at least not by the cast. they are trying though so hopefully it will be filmed
@musikmadchen3 Yeah, I've seen it :)) I was sooo excited! Wish it was already filmed, put on DVD and brought right to my home =D
@BusinessDog2000 And about faith :) We here in Russia have a nice proverb, it says "Hope for the best, but prepare to the worst". That's exactly how I deal with this promised Australian DVD :)
Any chance you'll post the trailer that was shown in cinema's before the Phantom25 concert? I would love to see that again?

Just curious. How can you not compare a direct sequel to the original?
Is it true they're making the Australian version available on DVD? Hope so because I'd love to see it.
@Ryoko48 Is there really a rumor of an Australian Recording? I've only heard of a DVD coming out for this cast and a possible end to the idea of coming to Broadway.

Are trapped behind me ON THE STAAAAGE!!
Lol.
0.0 Creepy.
Good show, though. It has very addicting music, but I'm not a fan of the plot/ending (I won't give away any details, for those who haven't seen it yet)
Anna looks beautiful
@srowley6 Omg thx so much!!!!!! I've been dying to know when it comes out!!!!!! I will do that!
@nikki625 could you please tell what scenes were shown in the trailer you saw in cinema?
@timesage61889 Oh I kinda meant the DVD when I said that. Is there much of a difference between the two? (one has audio and visual while the other just has audio...?)
