At 5:59 where Christine says "I Loved you, yes I loved you. I'd have followed anywhere you lead." Is extremely painful, the look of Erik realizing that she really loved him and was willing to stay with him through anything and possibly abandon her singing career for him hurts so much more than her choosing Raoul in my opinion. You can see the look of total regret on his face, they had a chance to be together and he didn't take it. I don’t think she would’ve even abandoned her career. He wrote shows specifically so she could have the leading role. It would’ve been her and him touring Europe. She’d be an established opera singer and he would write music for her. Win win.

i wanna know what's Gustave doing in the other room like "Mom who's that guy? Why you guys talking about the night you won't forget beneath a moonless sky?"
The acting here is incredible! Unpopular opinion: Idk why people hate on pretty much anyone else except for Sierra and Ramin. Okay, they're great, but imo Lewis and O'Byrne are also very good! I like the way they act, they make it a bit more realistic, you can actually FEEL the tension between these two characters, not just hear about it. Lewis is my favourite Phantom. He fits the role perfectly. He's intimidating, yet soft and you can actually see the incense Christine is talking about in his eyes. He's my favourite! On the other hand O'Byrne also has an amazing voice. Very unique in my opinion! She can also act incredibly well and you can actually hear it in her voice not just see it on her face. She definitely lives in the moment, in every single lyric she sings. God bless them, they gave a body and a soul to the play and I think Lewis and O'Byrne own this show like Boggess and Karimloo own The Phantom Of The Opera. LND might not be as great as a story, but these people make you feel what the characters feel and that's what a talented artist does. Congratulations to both of them!
@@CheetahSamonim I agree he's great! He's not a professional so ger but he did give a different perspective to the role! He's an actor after all! He was the most intimidating one among all imo and he's a great actor! It's not the singing that made him good for the role but the acting :)
@Satine Kryze This probably wasn't what you intended when you wrote it, but I read the last part in the voice of Rumpelstiltskin, from "Once Upon A Time". (6/27/2021)
So we can all agree that this story is beyond salvageable - a remnant of some other dark timeline - but you've got to admit everything else about this show is pretty admirable. I mean the sets, the costumes, the actors... And all shot brilliantly for an almost movie-esque recording. Even some music pieces, on their own without context, are beautiful given the sometimes clunky lyrics. It is such a shame all this talent was wasted on Andrew's sad self-insert fanfiction.
I can argue that with a few additional scenes, a rework of Erik’s actions (less child threatening, more sinister control issues and abandonment of his loyal staff), and some clarification of motivations… this storyline could actually be pretty good. Sort of a tragedy in three parts based around obsession, longing, and unrequited romantic feelings. Madame Giry still caring for Erik based on nostalgia for his more innocent childhood would easily explain her saving him. Say he started getting over Christine after that, but needed a star for a show to save his reputation like in “The Phantom of Manhattan”, which brings her back to mind. He starts caring less about his loyal performers (especially Meg, who’s formed a parasocial attraction to Erik) and ignoring the guidance of Mme. Giry telling him to stop obsessing over Christine, slipping slowly back into his former behavior. That’s enough of a fix to justify a lot of the thematic flaws. Too bad Lloyd Webber wanted to diss Sarah Brightman so hard that Christine dying in the end was all that mattered.
@@carniethedat7071 I completely agree with you! I like the plot idea a bit, but I think it was very poorly used, especially the aspects involving Gustave and Meg.
Christine: So it was all an empty lie, One final lie to fool us all, To make your death a story's end, To put your life beyond recall. How dare you come and claim me now, invade my life, ensnare my voice Phantom: If you could know the pain I'd known, Then you would know I had no choice, My Christine Christine: Your Christine! I was yours one brief night long ago. Long ago, with a man that I no longer know. Phantom: Ah Christine! You came and found where I hid, Don't you deny that you did, That long ago night. Once there was a night, Beneath a moonless sky, Too dark to see a thing, Too dark to even try.Christine: I stole to your side, Tormented by my choice, I couldn't see your face, Yet trembled at your voice. A woman and a man, no more and yet no less. And I kissed you Christine: And caressed you Both: And the world around us fell away, We said things in the dark we never dared to say. Phantom: And I caught you Christine: And I kissed you Phantom: And I took you Christine: And I begged you Both: With a need too urgent to deny, And nothing mattered then, except for you and I. Again and then again, Beneath a moonless sky. Phantom: And when it was done, Before the sun could rise, Ashamed of what I was, Afraid to see your eyes. I stood while you slept, And whispered a goodbye, And slipped into the dark, Beneath a moonless sky. Christine: And I loved you! Yes I loved you! I'd have followed anywhere you lead. Phantom: And I loved you Christine: And I loved you Phantom: And I left you Christine: How I loved you Phantom: And I had to both of us knew why Christine: We both knew why Both: And yet I wont regret, From now until I die, The night I can't forget, Beneath a moonless sky.
I just love how intense this scene is.. like Christine faints when she sees phantom and phantom catches her like in the music of the night song. I guess this is their specialty now! 😂
I don't get why people say Ben and Anna don't have chemistry. I think they have tons of it. The way they react to each other's touches in this piece is just incredible. Those people are just blinded by their love for Ramin and Sierra, I suppose lol. It's like they can't accept any other Phantom and Christine pair.
Ramin and Sierra have literally zero chemistry. Hated every second of their portrayal of these two characters. Also I don’t know why people think Ramin can sing. He just screams a lot.
She seemed terrified but then she was angry at him but then she remembered the night before the phantom left but she knew there was a problem because she had gustoff and she kept the secret from him for ten years
Thing is (being picky) how does she know the child was Eric's..they slept together 'Just before she was wed' so it must have been a day or two before she married Raoul. One thing is she must have slept with Raoul before they married because he would have realised she was not a virgin on there wedding night...they had no DNA testing back then..so how could she be sure the child was not Raoul's....?
@@annmitchell4663 or Raoul had some issues...? before the show Raoul said something to Christine like he did not behave well enough as husband and father... maybe both knew something but dared not say it...?
@@annmitchell4663 Maybe I am missing something, but there seems to be no other children. I mean: after 10 years? And at that time birth control surely wasn't as secure as it is today. So either she didn't sleep with her husband, even in the beginning of their marriage or she had a lot of miscarriages or at least either of them wasn't able to have children of their own. As for Raoul noticing her not being a virgin: I doubt it. From all we know she slept with Eric this one time and he seems to have been a great lover (judging by this song). Raoul is a different man, he doesn't come across as particularly caring, it would have been her second time with a man, there probably would have been pressure on both of them because it was their wedding night and they were 'expected to'... But maybe she slept with the whole company and Raoul just didn't care. 🤷

Though beautiful, this song is also incredibly sad. When she woke up and realized that Erik was gone, Christine must've thought everything he said about loving her wasn't true, that, like so many other men have done with women over the years, he got what he wanted and left. For Erik's part, he was too terrified to face what he thought was going to be yet another rejection. The difference a few minutes would've made, had she awoken sooner to catch him before he left, is amazing. Thematically, it reminds me of the sunflower scene in the first "Shrek" movie, when Shrek hears Fiona talking through the door and assumes it's about him. Both scenes show what misunderstandings can do, especially if they're not taken care of right away. (6/27/2021)
If my future partner and I ever fight and he dares to make up with me serenading me dressed up as phantom of the opera with that dramatic entrance. No more to say, I'll be running in his arms. Its so funny, romantic and makes me smile, it wouldn't take me time to think lmao.
As "Team Erik" as I am, I kinda wish Christine had kept this awesome backbone she finally developed. Half expected her to start singing "Call Me When You're Sober" by Evanescence 😂
I love this song. I actually love LND. Its obviously not as good as the first nothing could ever match it but I still think it is really good. The music is equally good at times. This being one of those times. It is a fitting ending to their tragic love story and I think it works and is actually really good.
I always wondered how embarrassed they were while singing that lyrics, especially during first rehearsals / runs. Later on I guess they just got used to that 😛.

This song starts off with Christine having the correct reaction to seeing Erik again, but we quickly dissolve into the most basic of basic fanfiction smut in musical form.
I think Anna's rendition of this is the best one I've seen. I know everybody's touchy about this show in general, this is just my opinion, but the notes were on point, and I really admire all of the emotion and then indignation she puts behind it.
I made a decision to not see this movie as a continuation of Phantom of the Opera but as a stand alone film. On that basis, it's excellent for the acting, the musical score and lyrics with exceptional songs that will live forever. Anna is a a wonderful Christine with Ben Lewis equally matched as Phantom. Thank you ALW not for a sequel but for a stand alone film of beauty and mayhem
OH WOW NOW THIS IS A GOOD BIRTHDAY PRESENT. MY FAV SONG FROM LND 😂💖🔥 I love how Ben and Anna interpreted this scene, the anger, the regret, and how there’s still something going on between the Phantom and Christine, their expressions are so on point ugh I love it 💕
Lmao! Ben and Anna are fantastic actors and are doing what they can with the source material but LND isn't a masterpiece. It's garbage for fangirls into domestic violence.
I can't believe that they uploaded this song. It's so beautiful and is my favourite from the musical. We get to see them reunite and their conflicting feelings and it's just amazing. And of course Anna and Ben make this show 100 times better. Their performances are absolutely breathtaking.
Okay I have a story. So the first time I watched POTO , I was with my grandparents, and we loved it. (Although I did die in past the point of no return) when we finished it, we were going through trying to find another musical, and my grandma found LND, and said we should watch it. It was all fine until this song. I legit thought I was going to die. My grandpa was doing that disapproving face that we all know and love, and my grandma was staring at me. Never watching it with them again. (I hope they never find out I listen to it sometimes)
This is my favorite song from LND it was pure I listened and then I realized the song is about them being together the night before Christine’s wedding when she came to see Erik (The Phantom) and they both lost virginity together under a new moon and was pitch black that night, later into late of the night The Phantom was ashamed and left before Christine wakes up in the morning that was a mistake because Christine was about to confess her love for him and maybe not marry Raoul to be honest this is a beautiful story
The singers are not the problem. They're doing the best they can to make this wretched story and the terrible and at times, goofy lyrics that go with it work. This musical completely contradicts the previous story and characters it claims to continue. LND is like "The Cursed Child" or "Rise of Skywalker" of musicals. It reads like bad fanfiction that sadly got considered canon.
This is very well performed. The voices and acting are superb. I've come to justify this sequel as a fantasy of the phantom. In the end feeling unworthy of the life of Christine. It is not a great play, but it is one well done.
Such a moving -- no, heart-wrenching -- performance! What a pair these two amazing actors make, indeed. Ramin and Sierra are amazing as well, but Ben and Anna gave this song everything they had, and they knocked it out of the park!
Please share a clip of Ben Forster singing “Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say)” from the Jesus Christ Superstar UK/Australia tour performance because that was incredible & it deserves more recognition🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing these clips of the shows!

Absolutely my favourite Christine of all time. Her acting skills are out of the world. There's so much depth in her voice acting. I'm so glad we get to enjoy this version in such good quality.
Sierra and Ramin are going to be always Erik and Christine, but about this performance I have to say these two win completely, their voices and the expressions... Everything was brilliant! Love it!
I really hate how this show completely misinterprets and changes the characters relationships, particularly how Christine felt about the phantom but even I have to admit the music is amazing
Well, joke's on you. There's a passage in Leroux's novel where she admits that if "he weren't ugly", she'd have gone back to him. She was shallow asf. That was the story.
Christine and Raoul's relationship was doomed from the start because Raoul was clinging on to the Christine from their childhood and Christine was groomed from the age of 7 by the phantom. But I agree that there are a lot of plot holes in the story--particularly the phantom acting so out of character compared to The Phantom of the Opera. I think Christine and Raoul's character development make perfect sense because they were both young and of course given the circumstances of their relationship--and their personalities. As for Mme. Giry and Meg, it made perfect sense that Giry would try to replace Christine with Meg to do the phantom's bidding instead of letting her go and build her own career because she did it before to Christine; She allowed the phantom to groom her. And since she loved Christine like her own daughter, why not her own daughter too?
@@blissinchains i think they meant in the musical, because the musical did change quite a few things about the characters (things like christine and raouls relationship isn't toxic anymore low key was in the novel)
@@FranciannCapman why would Mme. Giry help a serial killer (the phantom) escape from paris in the first place tho like she was clearly scared of him in the first musical i'm sure she was glad to be free lmao and meg didn't even t a l k to the phantom in the first musical... ikr raoul feels so out of character to me too he never seemed like the type to get drunk or get into gambling he was very selfless in the original and cared for christine alot (remember how he was telling her to let him die so she could be free in the final lair)
I gotta catch my breath after that one. Suffocatingly beautiful. Y’all ever listen to music and your body reacts to it before you really know what’s going on? Very few pieces of music get this reaction from me, and this song now makes that list.

i wanna know what's Gustave doing in the other room like "Mom who's that guy? Why you guys talking about the night you won't forget beneath a moonless sky?"
He was probably like "Hey dad there was a guy here:) with a mask:))))
I agree, it's a great version
Sierra and ramin are my fav for pto but Anna and Ben are my ideal for lnd
THANK YOU. 100%
They all are very good, but Butler is still my favourite phantom
@@CheetahSamonim I agree he's great! He's not a professional so ger but he did give a different perspective to the role! He's an actor after all! He was the most intimidating one among all imo and he's a great actor! It's not the singing that made him good for the role but the acting :)

something leroux’s erik would totally say lmao
So we can all agree that this story is beyond salvageable - a remnant of some other dark timeline - but you've got to admit everything else about this show is pretty admirable. I mean the sets, the costumes, the actors... And all shot brilliantly for an almost movie-esque recording. Even some music pieces, on their own without context, are beautiful given the sometimes clunky lyrics. It is such a shame all this talent was wasted on Andrew's sad self-insert fanfiction.
so true adora
@@fossilfighters101 fcking choked thank you
He’s not good with boundaries
Christine:
So it was all an empty lie,
One final lie to fool us all,
To make your death a story's end,
To put your life beyond recall.
How dare you come and claim me now,
invade my life,
ensnare my voice

If you could know the pain I'd known,
Then you would know I had no choice,
My Christine
Christine:
Your Christine!
I was yours one brief night long ago.
Long ago,
with a man that I no longer know.
Phantom:
Ah Christine!
You came and found where I hid,
Don't you deny that you did,
That long ago night.
Once there was a night,
Beneath a moonless sky,
Too dark to see a thing,
Too dark to even try.Christine:
I stole to your side,
Tormented by my choice,
I couldn't see your face,
Yet trembled at your voice.
And I touched you

And with every breath and every sigh

At last our feelings bared,
Beneath a moonless sky
Christine:
And blind in the dark,
As soul gazed into soul,
I looked into your heart
And saw you pure and whole
Phantom:
Cloaked under the night,
with nothing to suppress.
A woman and a man,
no more and yet no less.
And I kissed you
Christine:
And caressed you
Both:
And the world around us fell away,
We said things in the dark we never dared to say.
Phantom:
And I caught you
Christine:
And I kissed you
Phantom:
And I took you
Christine:
And I begged you
Both:
With a need too urgent to deny,
And nothing mattered then,
except for you and I.
Again and then again,
Beneath a moonless sky.
Phantom:
And when it was done,
Before the sun could rise,
Ashamed of what I was,
Afraid to see your eyes.
I stood while you slept,
And whispered a goodbye,
And slipped into the dark,
Beneath a moonless sky.
Christine:
And I loved you!
Yes I loved you!
I'd have followed anywhere you lead.
I woke to swear my love,
And found you gone instead.

And I loved you

And I loved you

And I left you
Christine:
How I loved you

I guess I just have that effect on women what can i say!
Well Sierra needs to Sing with Ben , so the that people can compare the Chemistry.

Man, the look of heartbreak on his face when Christine sang that she loved him. Ben and Anne did a phenomenal job in this abomination of a play.
She seemed terrified but then she was angry at him but then she remembered the night before the phantom left but she knew there was a problem because she had gustoff and she kept the secret from him for ten years
10 loooooooong years !!!!!!
@@annmitchell4663 maybe because gustave's behavior and fascination towards the unordinary and it reminds christine of the phantom somehow?

I have no idea why people dislike this musical.
The singers here are absolutely breathtaking!
I love his facial expressions. Just love how expressive they are
Such a moving -- no, heart-wrenching -- performance! What a pair these two amazing actors make, indeed. Ramin and Sierra are amazing as well, but Ben and Anna gave this song everything they had, and they knocked it out of the park!

"Despite his virgin status he hits it and quits it 30 times in one night! Stamina...Phamina."
