The music wasn’t the problem with the show, I don’t think. It was the drab backgrounds and the unconnected story lines(like how Meg suddenly hated Christine and how Raoul was suddenly a drunk.) It was all acted out very well by Sierra and Ramin and the costumes were fantastic and so was the story line. I'm confused: how can one show be so bad and so good simultaneously? Such absurd fan-fiction, night fantasies of some 15-year-old. And yet such grasping music and such a great scenery.

@@su03m6lin i agree and i do feel like Christine did have to die for a good story but i wish she died in another way because it is very difficult to comprehend that Meg, Christine's best friend, was obsessed with the phantom and killed her since she never showed signs of interest in the first part of the story. Fun fact: According to the official Love Never Dies website, both the color blue attire and peacock feathers are bad in theater since they bring bad luck. Wonder why Mr. Y picked it as Christine's outfit color and background? To make us ugly cry I guess.
@@roylenafreeman7305 Honestly, blue was a beautiful choice because it stands stark against Christine's pale skin. I saw how Sierra looked in her white dress during the London shows (through production photos and YT), and it really paled in comparison to Anna's blue.

This is what I believe what they were TRYING to show in the end yet falls flimsily instead. My second perspective is that the color BLUE is connected to moonlight, thus in relation to the Beneath a Moonless Sky (Ironically but yeah), where the colors of both reflects the relationship of both Phantom and Christine further highlighting that the song she is singing reflects her feelings for the Phantom thus makes sense narratively. This song is a reminder that Anna is not merely playing an opera singer, but actually is one. Also, the music in this show is better suited for a dramatic soprano, while Phantom is better for a lyric soprano voice.
First time I see this show on RUclips a couple days ago, its was amazing! Ben Lewis and Anna brings their character very well. Specially when they sing "Beneath moonless sky"
Love the vocal talent. But it REALLY bugs me that everyone is always "She sang because she really loves the Phantom." When remember he said he would take her child away if she didn't. She didn't choose between Raol and Phantom, she chose her son. It wasn't even a competition, there was no uncertainty. As soon as he says he would steal her child she AND the Phantom knew she would sing. Also how quickly we forget the Phantom psychologically manipulated her, murdered several people, tried to kill her fiance... But you know, he has talent so that makes him misunderstood and sexy.
You're right. People do tend to overlook the Phantom's murderous means. That he kidnapped Gustave (let alone threatening to kill Gustave) would certainly not be acceptable behavior in today's society - and I suspect that would have been very much the same back then too. But technically speaking, she didn't have to sing. Yes, the Phantom did threaten to harm Gustave right after the Moonless Sky. Did kidnap him before/during the Beauty Underneath. But there's a scene right after the Beauty Underneath - the Phantom Confronts Christine. The phantom says "Forgive me. He see's me, and shuns me, as you did once... Take him (Gustave) now; take him and go! Go now! Be free, but swear one thing to me: he will never, ever know." After that, Christine chose to stay, and sing. Maybe the phantom's actions here was purely emotional manipulation - but it could have also very easily been genuine. Maybe that varies from actor to actor, and even the audience. But the point is, we don't exactly know for sure. And because of that, we can't really say that Christine sung only to save her son.
Woah I never really looked at it that way. That’s such a nice reason, and really makes sense especially when she told Gustave they’d spent time together with just the two of them after the performance.
I agree with everything you're saying, basically, but don't discount that Christine did have real feelings for the Phantom, even if those feelings were based on a lie. Her attraction to his unparalleled genius IS both realistic and CLEARLY implied in both the original show and Love Never Dies. Yes, he was a psychologically abusive, murderous psychopath -- but he was also a total savant who was at least a half-century ahead of his time when it came to music, and you're lying to yourself if you're going to seriously claim that women (and men, to an extent) aren't seriously attracted to artistic geniuses, no matter how fucked up they are.
Did he really kidnap Gustave though? I'm pretty sure the kid woke up and interrupted the phantom and Christine during their duet and then he asked if the Phantom could show him the wonders of Phantasma. Also, after the beauty underneath the Phantom says ”go now, be free, but swear one thing to me, he will never know” so don't think you can really say she sang because he threatened to take her son. He literally told her to leave with him. But in that moment she told him that she would honor her promise and sing the song. Which is why people say she sang because she loves him. And to back that up, is the scene in the dressing room where Raul begs her to not sing if she loves him, and he leaves the dressing room thinking that Christine won't sing and will get on the boat... Enter the phantom and has his little moment with her. She ends up singing and I don't think think it's because she feels threatened
I really love the scene when they sang Once Upon Another Time as well. Their gestures, their tone, the mood, it was so sad but lovely. I also love the way Anna O'Byrne and Ben Lewis portrayed Christine and Phantom respectively. Their characters looked mature and because it's supposed to be 10 years later, I thought it was really fitting and I really liked that.
My favourite Lloyd-Webber song, in the revised staging premiered in Melbourne. I saw it in London when it first came out, she was wearing a sparkling silver-white dress then, but the peacock colouring was just so great.
True opposites. POTO panned from left to right, while LND panned form right to left. POTO Christine's dress is lighter which is purity while LND is Dark meaning she became a woman
So the Phantom tricked Christine and Raoul? He tells Christine if she sings one last time for him, she can go free, then tells Raoul if she sings, she is his (the Phantom's)?
He told Christine she can go at the beginning of the musical but after "Devil Take The Hindmost" he and Raoul have a bet to find out once and for all who Christine loves. She was confronted by both in "Before The Performance" and knows she has to decide by either going with Raoul (Erik would have paid their debts and they would have been able to live their lives (I don't remember anyone telling Christine the debts would have been paid tho)) or singing for Erik and staying with him, allowing Gustave to get to know his real father. ^^
I love this so much, the entire performance is incredible! Anna is so talented with her amazing voice! It is possible to also post the song Beautiful / The Beauty Underneath? (That was my favourite bit in Love Never Dies)
Sarah Brightman has always been a my favourite Christine in POTO since the 80s. I think Anna O'Byrne is the most perfect successor for LND. So graceful in her movements, poised, sings expressively and effortlessly. Very convincing.
Timeless performance and scenario, magnificent voice, haunting, powerful melody with deep lyrics. As years go by, this just becomes even better if that is possible.
Anna and Ben's performance was so perfect. It would be fantastic if two people perform 'Phantom of the Opera' together at someday. It would also be quite meaningful if Jack (as Gustave) performs phantom in the future.
This song reminds me of the grief of losing my brother and Granddad in the space of two and half years and how I didn't realise how much it could cause so much pain back then 💔
I loved and enjoyed it every single second....so emotional,so romantic...omg!! can't express in other words... phantom the original was masterpiece...this one,is also a MASTERPIECE....
In my opinion, it's not about whether Sierra Boggess is better or Anna O'Byrne. Both of these women absolutely CONQUERED this song. It takes an incredible amount of skill and training to be able to sing this. The range of this song is INSANE! So appreciate them both for their talent :D
This performance is simply beautiful. The music, the lyrics the acting are in perfect combination, it leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat, who will she choose? The man that helped her heart to sing or the young love from her childhood?
Please, please, play Love Never Dies again! I didn't catch it! I'm missing my Phantom so bad it hurts! Help Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber! Take pity on my soul! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE DONE FOR US! LOVE YOU with the most profound admiration for your talent! BLESSINGS!
I saw this show in San Jose, Ca about 6 years ago. Was fabulous. Meghan Picerno played Christine and her rendition of this song was breathtaking. I have never heard anything like it before or since. I will never forget the thrill she gave me that night.
Thanks for posting. This is beyond perfect. Anna is truly beautiful and one of the greatest ever performers in musical theatre. Imo, this is the best song since Les Miserables.
I KNEW it was gonna be this song! Just like with TPOTO - two songs, sung by Christine and The Phantom, one of them titled like the musical it's from.))
A year one from this video being posted but several years since I first saw it, this remains one of my most favourite bits of musical theatre ever. It is flawlessly executed. The performance, the lighting, the staging, the costume. Rarely are so many elements all perfectly aligned like this. A standout in the show, which is when I saw it live in the West End was not that impressive.
... Who knows when love begins? Who knows what makes it start? One day it's simply there, Alive inside in your heart. It slips into your thoughts, It infiltrates your soul, It takes you by surprise, Then seizes full control. Try to deny it, And try to protest, But love won't let you go, Once you've been possessed. Love never dies. Love never falters. Once it has spoken, Love is yours. Love never fades. Love never alters. Hearts may get broken, Love endures... Hearts may get broken, Love endures. And soon as you submit, Surrender flesh and bone, That love takes on a life much greater than your own. It uses you at whim and drives you to despair. And forces you to feel more joy than you can bear. Love gives you pleasure, And love brings you pain! And yet, when both are gone, Love will still remain. Once it has spoken, Love is yours. Love never dies, Love never alters, Hearts may get broken, Love endures... Hearts may get broken ... Love never dies! Love will continue! Love keeps on beating when you're gone! Love never dies once it is in you! Life may be fleeting, Love lives on... Life may be fleeting, Love lives on.
I come back to this performance time and time again.. I never tire of it. Anna did an amazing version of this, its beyond breathtaking.. and then there's the song.. its stunning!!!!! the words, the melody.. its a masterpiece.!!!!
Sierra is supreme as Christine in the Royal Albert Hall astounding production of the original Phantom, but when it comes to the sequel, although inferior as a show, Anna is even better than Sierra in this song (I know it's almost sacrilege to suggest this). I guess comparisons are odious and both artists are superb, but Anna is also aided by better staging helping her to achieve this fabulous, unbeatable performance.
I personally think Sierra's voice is richer, which I will always prefer. I sometimes cringe a bit when Anna hits some high notes - not because she sings badly but I always feel like she cannot hit the high notes as effortlessly as Sierra. But it's just my personal opinion. I find Anna O’byrne and Ben Lewis awesome in this version of Love Never Dies! As does the talented boy who plays Gustave!
@@sleepysalsw I love her acting in this and tone on the lower notes but Sierra's build up and highest notes are better. This version seems a bit shorter as well. I think I read somewhere Anna was a bit nervous for this performance knowing it was being filmed. Not sure if that changes anything really. Also the dress and whole staging was fantastic and the image is just stamped in my brain since I first saw it. XD I tried making a weird inside joke with a man I was dating who in our first IM chats said large necklaces were his favorite apparel item by singing this song for him but it turned out a bit too esoteric...like the time I named a shiny Pokemon after a lyric in a Gilbert & Sullivan show.
I 100% agree! I find Sierra a bit OTT with this song. Almost like she's still playing the young Christine. Anna here, although younger than Sierra, plays a better older Christine.
Thank you for posting this phenomenal number! Stunning, every moment of it - from Anna’s voice to her dress, to the set and the lighting and the cinematography too! LND has been very memorable for me. I’m in love with the songs, as well as Ben and Anna as the Phantom & Christine ♥️♥️♥️

Preach. i love POTO and i like this show too, but the Phantom really is a violent stalker.
Annas voice is amazing. Shes so talented and she nailed every song she sang in. This rendition is just so powerful and emotional.
Such beautiful scenery! Ben and Anna play amazinly this play! I love it all, i don't get tired seeing this play again!
I love her outfit soooo much
My favourite Lloyd-Webber song, in the revised staging premiered in Melbourne. I saw it in London when it first came out, she was wearing a sparkling silver-white dress then, but the peacock colouring was just so great.
it also seals Christines fate. because peacock feathers are bad luck in theater.
Andrew Lloyd Webber geniuos !!!
Anna's performance is amazing!!!
The first time I heard this, it floored me. Haunting.
I was in tears and goosebumps all over. Music and love is electrifying.
3:04 can we appreciate the parallel to “think of me” in the 2004 movie!
True opposites. POTO panned from left to right, while LND panned form right to left. POTO Christine's dress is lighter which is purity while LND is Dark meaning she became a woman
Justell Villanueva exactly!
@@northmelody1783 Yeah...because nothing shows true love better than manipulation and blackmail.
@@ShadowsofthePastTheater Its the phantom - its what he does best.
@@mouthpiece200 I see your point.
@@northmelody1783 I appreciate the clarification.
I love this so much, the entire performance is incredible! Anna is so talented with her amazing voice!
It is possible to also post the song Beautiful / The Beauty Underneath? (That was my favourite bit in Love Never Dies)
If they did end up posting it, I think it would be the new version (which I like a lot more personally)
Glad to be able to watch this on stream
Sarah Brightman has always been a
my favourite Christine in POTO since the 80s. I think Anna O'Byrne is the most perfect successor for LND. So graceful in her movements, poised, sings expressively and effortlessly. Very convincing.
“CHILLSSSSSSS”
That’s all I can say.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Goosebumps... I love this show and cannot wait till it comes back to Australia
Anna O’Byrne is amazing Christine as a Villain because she has heart of angel of music
Meg got jealous about Christine as a old friend betrayal
This scene is crazy beautiful
Anna did a wonderful job! Great performance and impeccable voice.. Bravo!
One of the best scenes from the show !! Her voice is magical😍
Timeless performance and scenario, magnificent voice, haunting, powerful melody with deep lyrics. As years go by, this just becomes even better if that is possible.
Mom's singing is magical!! 😄
WAS magical...

Raoul and Erik welcome you to the club😂
This officially became my favourite so g and I am now learning it from the BEST!!!!!
Literally watched this five times over the weekend
Amelia Vogel I’ve bought the DVD already😆😆
O'Byrne owns this role along with Ben Lewis as the Phantom. Lloyd Webber was right in using this production for the film.
Anna and Ben's performance was so perfect. It would be fantastic if two people perform 'Phantom of the Opera' together at someday. It would also be quite meaningful if Jack (as Gustave) performs phantom in the future.
How did you post this an hour ago the video was just uploaded?

Yeah how did u do that
Kudos to Ms O'Byrne and the rest of the team! This is a gorgeous presentation!
I'm going tonight to our Operahouse to listen Love Never Dies as a concert version.
How was it? I was thinking about going to the concert, but with this COVID restrictions (I would be traveling from abroad) I decided not to go.
@@nanikus It was more on the stage, that I expected. Marvellous!
@@heidi-tuuliaeklund6684 l think I know exactly what you mean. I think I saw something like that on RUclips, in German. Lucky you :)
Love this show 😍. Good match, both best actor and best actress and both sing well! 👏😍
I think she is perfect....what can I say for her....iconic in every way....
BLESSINGS!
I would love that :)
Yes!!! LND & POTO need to be streamed again
Cudowny glos ,kiedy sie slucha jak y czlowiek był w inny swiecie
man that dress... love it... want it...
I saw this show in San Jose, Ca about 6 years ago. Was fabulous. Meghan Picerno played Christine and her rendition of this song was breathtaking. I have never heard anything like it before or since. I will never forget the thrill she gave me that night.
This song sends shivers down my spine. And that voice! OMG! Was hoping you'd upload it. Thank you!!!
The Phantom of the Opera and this musical should de repeated Mr Lloyd. Thank you for your wonderful initiative!
Her dress is amazing.
I love this performance so much! Perfection!!
I just absolutely love the set in the scenery for this piece it is such a work of art I don't think it gets enough recognization
I expected this to be gaudy fan-fiction, but it was utterly breathtaking. I love that I have this 🥰🥰🥰
I love this song so bad! Amazing Performance of Love Never Dies!
This version is the best one for the acting and the music
Absolutely stunning.
Such a vivid painting
Thanks for posting. This is beyond perfect. Anna is truly beautiful and one of the greatest ever performers in musical theatre. Imo, this is the best song since Les Miserables.
I fell in love with this lady voice the first time I heard it, such a deep and mature voice
Love this musical. Beautiful music, But sad ending:(
I love this song
I KNEW it was gonna be this song!
Just like with TPOTO - two songs, sung by Christine and The Phantom, one of them titled like the musical it's from.))
A year one from this video being posted but several years since I first saw it, this remains one of my most favourite bits of musical theatre ever. It is flawlessly executed. The performance, the lighting, the staging, the costume. Rarely are so many elements all perfectly aligned like this. A standout in the show, which is when I saw it live in the West End was not that impressive.
What a beautiful song. Anna you have a beautiful voice.
...
Who knows when love begins?
Who knows what makes it start?
One day it's simply there,
Alive inside in your heart.
It slips into your thoughts,
It infiltrates your soul,
It takes you by surprise,
Then seizes full control.
Try to deny it,
And try to protest,
But love won't let you go,
Once you've been possessed.
Love never dies.
Love never falters.
Once it has spoken,
Love is yours.
Love never fades.
Love never alters.
Hearts may get broken,
Love endures...
Hearts may get broken,
Love endures.
And soon as you submit,
Surrender flesh and bone,
That love takes on a life much greater than your own.
It uses you at whim and drives you to despair.
And forces you to feel more joy than you can bear.
Love gives you pleasure,
And love brings you pain!
And yet, when both are gone,
Love will still remain.
Once it has spoken,
Love is yours.
Love never dies,
Love never alters,
Hearts may get broken,
Love endures...
Hearts may get broken ...
Love never dies!
Love will continue!
Love keeps on beating when you're gone!
Love never dies once it is in you!
Life may be fleeting,
Love lives on...
Life may be fleeting,
Love lives on.
I come back to this performance time and time again.. I never tire of it. Anna did an amazing version of this, its beyond breathtaking.. and then there's the song.. its stunning!!!!! the words, the melody.. its a masterpiece.!!!!
Bravo! Bravo! Well sung and acted.
I listen to this more than 10x a day
Sierra is supreme as Christine in the Royal Albert Hall astounding production of the original Phantom, but when it comes to the sequel, although inferior as a show, Anna is even better than Sierra in this song (I know it's almost sacrilege to suggest this).
@@sleepysalsw honestly I couldn't put this into words better
Anna is definitely better suited for this song. Sierra is good in TPoTO.
I 100% agree! I find Sierra a bit OTT with this song. Almost like she's still playing the young Christine. Anna here, although younger than Sierra, plays a better older Christine.
I could watch it twice and I cried both times, wish I owned this
I watched it 3 times in 24 hours and cried all 3 times. It's on Amazon Prime. I bought it.
I bought it. Couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to watch it again.
Breathtaking
And it felt beautiful
She is wonderful
I absolutely love this song. Watching this again after hearing this on Magic at the Musicals.
I really want a third movie and Christine has an opera voice for sure
U mean... Christine's ghost?
