Who do you think is the greatest Phantom of all time?
Norm Lewis. Amazing voice made history. Love him.
BEN, BEN, BEN. ❤
Ramin Karimloo
Looks: Gerard Butler. Voice: Lewis and Karimiloo. I liked the way they both portrayed the phantom differently but equally beautiful.
Ramin!!!
I feel like Ben Lewis doesn't get enough credit since everyone is gushing about Ramin. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Ramin's performance but Ben Lewis is the Phantom I always imagined. He is tall, slim and has something ghostly about him. Ramin's Pahntom is more of a sensitive eccentric, which goes well with the book and the original musical. I think it's impossible to compare them, both interpretations are equally amazing.
I agree!
Ben is one of the best Phantoms ever. He also was amazing in London production. I hope he comes back when all these scary days are over
I agree
I agree. I love Ben as the Phantom. Just his physique can make any girls droll. Lok
I love when you wrote: "he has something ghostly about him." I agree. To me, it makes his appearance sexy. It's like, you are afraid of him but at the same time, you really want to be with him. Nobody else 😉
Quarantine Mood:
“The day starts, ..the day ends, ..time crawls by...”
This comment made my day😂
Really relevant comment for present situation 😀
😂😂😂
The Phantom lived almost his whole life in quarantine, so... 😂😂😂
I always feel no more than half way real till I hear you sing once more....
The tune keeps looping in my mind that I can't help listening to it every day
Confirmed infected by the music of the night😂
Giry : lets go to the Coney island
Erik : I'm not goin anywhere
Giry : give u a BIG portrait of Christine
Erik : OK
Of you pay attention to the portrait you can see her move

Ben Lewis is def one of the most underrated Phantom. His voice really touches my heart
He's not only Phantom. He's everything from comedy to drama.
I agree, i saw him on west end and he was phenomenal! probably the best phantom I've ever seen!
He’s the best phantom so far
Totally agree
I Agree his Voice is spectacular hes my fav Phantom
Most consistent characterization of a character from original to sequel: gives the woman he loves a great song to sing, but ultimately keeps the best song for himself 😉
Ramin: Phantom of emotion
Ben Lewis: Phantom of mystery and elegance
Ps:I love them both, I think they're both great in different ways😄
agree
Same!!!!!
Ramin: angry
Ben: pensive
I totally agree
@@lynnemiller3748 You summed it up well, Ben’s Erik is just very sad, and Ramin’s is very angry
Their both amazing Erik’s
In this song, you can hear not just the heartache he feels about missing Christine, but also the frustration that his music is incomplete without her, and all this time, he's been trying to compose music
He sings this with such passion. As if he truly feels what he's singing.
That's good acting for you.
He was also bred that way. His parents were both opera singers and instructors.
Anna O’Byrne (Christine) said on LND’s Instagram that the Christine portrait breathes and moves. (It’s filmed during rehearsal) Now I just stare at the painting the entire song
You haven't noticed earlier? lol
Bagel nope. I’m sure a lot of us were more focused on the Phantom in this scene
Just noticed this! I thought I was seeing things.
I just noticed it now. Oh my!
This was performed in a front an audience right?
Ben Lewis had the BEST facial expressions in the show!!! And I burst into tears EVERY SINGLE TIME I hear this song!!!
Crazy Dice YES
especially when he is surprised, and his face goes, "O_o"
Yes! Ohh, how his face changed, when Christine were singing Beneath the moonless sky, singing, that she loved him. And after Beauty underneath, when Christine said, that Gustave is Erik's son. And in the end, when Gustave took the mask off and touched his cheek. Ohhh, I love those moments, when actors can say everything without any word, only with their faces.
I love that you can see all of his emotion in his eyes. His eyes get so big and I feel like a lot of times with the mask you cant see as much emotion from the phantom, but he exaggerates his facial expressions enough that you can see them and its wodnerful
And his expression after christine says "there is no now" after beneath a moonless sky... 😭😭😭 He looked so broken. And we see that from only half his face. AND HIS LEFT EYEBROW IS ALWAYS PERFECT
I watched the Show twice and the second time I felt so much more comfortable with it! Media and bad reviews poisoned my opinion. I still think that the plot is a bit weird and nothing compared to „The Phantom of the Opera“ but it is a worthy sequel. The music was lovely and the references to „The Phantom of the Opera“ made my heart jump every time I heard them. Ben Lewis and especially Anna O‘Byrne were magnificant!
Critics poison everything because they are bitters person. Always judge a show by yourself
I love LND, I saw it before, and I was shocked to found so many bad reviews. LND doesn't deserve that hate!
It was not a healthy criticism, but a hate from the fandom, in this version (not London's one) there is great music from the ALW, impressive production and an incredible performance and chemistry from the cast, so i think this is more then enough for a good musical
The original phantom play remains unbeaten, but I'm glad I didn't read too much criticism and actually got to enjoy this play for what it is. There are weak spots, but not deserving of the amount of hate it got.
i had wanted to see it for a while but then someone told me it was just christine cheating on raoul, but now that I have seen it, i like eit that much more than phantom
I turn and it fades away and YOU'RE NOT HEREEE
I need a clip of the Beauty underneath.
Same same same😍
Yeah! Beauty underneath and the song after it, when Christine said, that Gustave is Erik's son.
Unfortunately, I don't think they will do a clip of Beauty Underneath - because it is not the "updated version" of the song (which was on the US tour). More likely that they'll post Love Never Dies (the song).
There kinda is, for last half of it.
It's removed from RUclips and the uploader account was terminated.
I'm totally Ramin and Sierra fan, but damn, the Australian version was amazing. there was a great chemistry between Ben and Anna (especially in Beneath the moonless sky) and I loved the Phantom bonding with Gustave - I can't stop listening to Beauty Underneath. very good job!
Have u heard this version of Beauty Underneath? It’’s So Good, love both version!!! ruclips.net/video/yzY6sSnZ3Wo/видео.html
Honestly sierra an ramin where amazing in the original, but this second part was meant for the autralian cast. I just love them both so much, but i prefer love never dies with ben and ana
It was. Loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed it, I know many aren't keen and parts are weaker than others but I think it's such a beautiful show. Ben is amazing as an older Phantom. My fave Phantom is still Ramin but Ben has such a fantastic voice.
Ben Lewis is perfect for 10 years elder Erik!
sveta// ja agree I think ramin and Sierra are better in hatom of the opera and Ben and anna are better for love never dies
I think Gerry and Emmy are way the best Phantom and Christine, ever...and Ben and Anna the best older couple. I love Simon as Raoul too. He did a fabulous job. Patrick Wilson was a great young Raoul too. I loved his white horse ride on the way to rescue Christine from the madman, as he called Phantom.
@@Marylmac yeah, all that cast is amazing, I truly love all of them, but that's a movie. In stage performances of POTO Ramin and Sierra are absolutely brilliant. Did you hear Ramin's voice? I'm in love with it!
@@svitlana5183 This is a movie essentially OF THE STAGE PERFORMANCE. Yes, in filming that allowed the camera to get viewing angles the theatre audience couldn't see, and allowed a smoother flow in a couple of scene stages, but essentially, this is what the live audience saw. None of the 'special effects' etc were 'helped' by film editing . I dearly love Sierra and Ramin (Sierra in particular) and they were perfect for the final version of the original "Phantom of the Opera", but I think for this revised version of 'Love Never Dies' the casting is near perfect. The original London staging was poor, Webber very freely admits this, (and I'm referring to the show itself, not the performers) and needed to be heavily revised, as it was in this Australian version, which is the version staged in most countries.
Because of these 2 weeks watching and obsessing over POTO I’m down once more to the dungeon of my black despair.. 😅
1D19 absolutely same
Same sis
Yup. Same. Can somebody please break this mirror. I don't know how he opened it.

@@karlalejandroresurreccion5778
He's a magician.
Thanks to Ben Lewis for such an emotional and heart yearning rendition of “Till I hear you sing”. I kept repeating the song cause the performance was just too good!!. I’m a Ramin and Sierra fan but I think Ben really did a fantastic job here!!! Love it!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Same here! I thought I’m the only one who got “crazy” over this performance of Ben which is so awesome 👏😍. I keep on watching this video repeatedly. Thanks for uploading this. This is my favorite part of the play. I agree with the one who said Ben had the best facial expression (in spite of the face being with half mask). I really like his acting and singing. Same with Anna, they are a good pair having awesome voice and acting.
Ben Lewis is just like the Phantom I always imagined!!! Tall, thin, mysterious and deep voice. Gosh I'm listening and crying to this video again and again and again...
He's not thin. He's lean and muscular.
@@TheMsiaddict True, true... my mistake
Same thoughts on this! Ben fits Erik's description in the novel.
Me: Andrew Lloyd webber is so nice! He's the best!
Christine: *dies*
Me: your existence was a mistake
haha i was the same ... and at first i didnt notice that it hit christine, i thought erik was hit and i was relieved
that it was not him and than i saw it... :(
Don't worry; canonically, her death isn't real. If you notice in the POTO movie, she died in her early 60's as inscribed in her tombstone. This is only a decade after her little one night stand with the Phantom, which doesn't even place her close to her 60's. Breathe easy, the ending was just a dramatic façade.
@@harrisoncreates thank you lol
@@harrisoncreates yeah but that's the movie, there is a difference between movie canon and stage show canon
I just think that Phantom is having a near death dream and has Christine die because he hates himself so much
Ben Lewis won Judith Johnson Award for best actor in this musical play, Love Never Dies, because obviously he deserved it and this is a proof.
It's my opinion, of course, but I won't get tired of saying this: Ben Lewis IS the Phantom. I love Ramin, Michael, and everyone else that played the role, but since I heard and watch Ben, I found the Erik I had always imagine, while reading the book or listening to the album, coming to life. He has the looks, the voice (even if it has to be different, lighter, I wasn't capable of imagine it that way), but most important, he has the emotions: sadness, dispair, loneliness, madness, crave for a love he cannot reach.
I love Ben so much, and I feel sad for the lack of recognition I think he has, and pretty disappointed too when everyone compares him to Ramin.
He is amazing 😍😍
@Aye Silvera I think Ben's voice is naturally dark, which suits the Phantom (and the older Phantom) perfectly, as male voices continue to get darker as they age. However, have you ever heard him sing in other musicals? His voice is a bit of chameleon; in Love Me Tender it sounds sooo much lighter-it's really different! In the original POTO, his voice is not as dark as it is in LND, yet it is still very recognizable. Considering that he did POTO 6 years after LND, it's pretty safe to say he has absolute control over what he sounds like, and his voice is dark in LND because a) the director and ALW loved it that way and b) he interpreted the phantom to have a darker voice to match his age and personality. After running a freak show for 10 years, I highly doubt he's as emotionally unstable as before (I feel like tantrums and outbursts are great for POTO, less for LND), but he's still emotionally and psychologically damaged :(
Yes. He is tall and broad shouldered and because of this his presence fills the room. Also his voice is deep and dark what gives him a haunting and seductive aspect.
He doesn't like to be recognised, just like OG himself. When he's not working, he prefers to be unknown. Nobody knows his family, his kids. Though his wife is a musical star as well.
He has children?! I didn't know that... I know his brother has a boy
I wish Christine had also written a song about Erik and that he somehow discovered that..
The phantom of the opera 3, soon, only on cuarentine
The Phantom of the Opera Electric Boogaloo.
That would have been nice but sadly, Erik is the only one who can compose music out of their pair. Besides, even if she composes music herself, Raoul wouldn't allow her to sing it.
@@karlalejandroresurreccion5778 well they split up and she died so 😂
That would probably make the phantom of the opera fans cry at least a tear.
I love how he made this his own. He didn't try to sing it like any one else or how it was expected coming from behind Ramin, but he took the character of Phantom/Erik and made it his own. And it is absolutely glorious.
He puts his entire heart into it and you can SEE/HEAR it.
I feel like Ben lewis the the most underrated phantom, he portrays Erik and his vibrato and belting is so beautiful together. He needs more attention.
Oh boy. I didn't expect to love the musical this much.
The last two weeks were full of The Phantom.. While I could I watched some parts of "Love Never Dies" as many times as possible.
Wow.
"Beneath A Moonless Sky" and "Once Upon Another Time" were just phenomenal. I'm gonna miss this so much!
Yes yes i fully agree, great songs, i was ready to watch it a 5th time and by the time i commented it disappeared....
@@gabrielle1017 yes! I was just in the middle of ".. Once there was a night.. Bebeath a moonless sky.." when it got deleted.
Yeah they are stunning, I hope they upload beauty underneath next😍
@@naastyaaaaaaaaa what a fabulous song... I heard people kept saying sierra nd ramin wouldve been a much better choice, but i diagree, for the first part yes thoroughly remarkable, but for LND, ben and anna did an outstanding job with more mature voices, imho
Beneath the moonless sky is amazing! And Look with your heart, and Love never dies, and Beauty underneath, and Devil takes the hindmost. I love all these songs! I used to kinda hate musicals, but after POTO and LND i fall in love with them!
He's stunning. He is my perfect Phantom. With such voice and looks he is the very definition of this character. I only wish there could have been a DVD of POTO with him. That would make my life, musically & theatrically speaking, complete.
Ben Lewis singing is like a spell telling me to replay over and over 😍
Join the loop squad 😂
This is even an edited version. His original voice is so much better, dark, deep, wide ranged, with layers.

@@user-on6jv5op6t didn't you see LND? 😮 Ohhh, I can share with you video, wich I downloaded, if you want me to. Of course quality is not very good, but...
@@user-on6jv5op6t ohh that's sad😢
Same, I agree! Loved watching the full shows.
It probably had something to do with copyright permissions as to why they could only keep it up for about 48 hours. I'm a little surprised they don't keep a pay version available.
The breathtaking passion he brings to the performance makes Ben the best Phantom to me, honestly.
Easing the pain of having the show removed by quickly uploading a clip... 👏👏👏
last night i filmed the song under a moonless night on my camera to ease the pain :)
To be honest though, they really need to remove the shows here cause it would just discourage people from seeing the real thing on stage. Why waste money and go to a theater when you can just watch it on RUclips?
It's always much better live. Some performers, such as Ben, have incredible stage presences and charisma that can only be fully captured live.
@@karlalejandroresurreccion5778 I think it's great that they uploaded it, it allows people from around the world to see it who don't get the opportunity to go and see it in theater

*Meeting Ben was the best moment of my life*
Lucky
Till now I've never seen LND and I was very sceptical... My god, how I was wrong! I still can't think of it as a sequel to POTO, I prefer to take it as a sort of alternative reality or a phantasy, but it doesn't diminish this musical at all in my eyes. This Australian production was phenomenal - the music, the stage and the actors as well! Thank you very much for uploading this!
It's not a sequel.
@@TheMsiaddict it's not? What is it? I really know nothing about this play.
@@linneakroeger8288Love Never Dies is the actual cannon sequel to Phantom of the opera, but most fans kinda feel like it was forcibly shoved in, the ending to Phantom of the opera was fine, most fans kinda low key hate this sequel itself, tbh the music is great tho
His voice and his emotional acting in this show make him the best Phantom ever in my opinion.
Totally agree!!
Noah..
That feeling when a song gives you emotions you never knew existed
You will hear her sing, Erik. You will. But sadly, you don’t yet know the high price you’ll have to pay to hear her sing once more.
The irony when Christine said she'll sing one last time just as she promised him :(
😭😭😭
The heck. Now I wonder who got Gustave Custody. Is it Erik or Raul?
@@cathaaaa7236 it's probably Erik since he's the real father. They might have to change the birth certificate though but I don't even know if they already had them during that time. Maybe Gustave still has to decide whether he has to go with Raoul or he'll stay with Erik like in the book.
Oh, I didn't even think of that.
I love this song so much and oh God Ben’s voice is perfect 😭🖤 i could really feel his pain losing Christine 💔
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the deep dark baritone of Ben Lewis's voice. It is haunting and powerful like the Phantom's presence.
He's not really baritone.
@@TheMsiaddict PC: Good for him - and for both of your successes!
Ben Lewis: In the last 12 months, since doing PHANTOM, his voice has transitioned up into this lyric tenor territory now. I don't think there's any danger that my voice will do the same - I think mine is well and truly rooted in the baritone tessitura, but that's OK and I am quite comfortable with that.
Ben is basically the Phantom I imagine. Perfect. Love Ramin but gotta give Ben the credit.
I miss it already, so good!
ben is my phantom, my big energy and intimidating phantom
Ben's performance was incredible 🦇🌹
This is what happens when you slip into the night beneath a moonless sky.
I instantly got addicted to LND. I loved Ramin and Sierra on POTP but Ben and Anna held their own and outstandingly, I must say. So much talent and emotion went into their performances. Watched it so many times over the weekend - first time without subtitles and with subtitles on the succeeding ones. Production value was high and very impressive, from the sets to the costumes, lighting and cinematography. I’m a very happy viewer and Erik-Christine fan :) Thank you ALW and everyone involved for giving us this gift!
So true. The plot feels weird at first watch. But as I rewatch it, I feel inlove with this show.
Wow!!! This is exactly how I felt as well and you have worded everything that I wanted to express! What a awesome production and even how it was filmed was just as impressive. I love how Ben whose back was facing the audience turned his head and revealed the masked face while he was singing “Till I hear you sing”, just superb arrangement!! . Only managed to watch it twice which was my biggest regret! Love Never Dies Rock!! ❤️❤️
I feel you! Same here, I can't stop listening the soundtrack day and night
When I saw that you wrote POTP I read it as "Phantom Of The Phantom"
Why is nobody appreciating the dramatic way Ben crumples and throws the sheet music down in the beginning ? 😂😂
How many papers had he crumpled during the show?
Probably hundreds! Plus the ones he used for practice... I can totally imagine Ben practicing just the crumple and the drop to make it look like he's as disgusted at what's on the page as possible XD

LYRICS
Erik (Phantom):
Ten long years
Living a mere facade of life
Ten long years
Wasting my time on smoke and noise
In my mind
I hear melodies pure and unearthly
But I find
I can't give them a voice without you
My Christine, my Christine
Lost and gone, lost and gone
The day starts, the day ends
Time crawls by
Night steals in, pacing the floor
The moments creep,
Yet I can't bear to sleep
Till I hear you sing
And weeks pass, and months pass
Seasons fly
Still you don't walk through the door
And in a haze
I count the silent days
Till I hear you sing once more.
And sometimes at night time
I dream that you are there
But wake holding nothing but the cold night air
And years come, and years go
Time runs dry
Still I ache deep in my core
My broken soul
Can't be alive or whole
Till I hear you sing once more
And music, your music
It teases at my ear
I turn and it fades away and you're not here
Let hopes pass, let dreams pass
Let them die
Without you, what are they for?
I'll always feel
No more than halfway real
Till I hear you sing once more
Ben Lewis is so amazing! his voiceeeee... ugh! i may just prefer this version more than Ramin's.
I'm in love with Ramin's voice (ohh, did you hear beneath the moonless sky from stage performance? his And I kissed you is amazing, I have no words), but Ben Lewis did a great job, 10 years elder Erik suits him,and of course he has beautiful voice, it's more about taste.
Yes!
Amen to that
**gasp**
Ben is the perfect Phantom for this musical. He has a powerful and deep voice, totally suited for this character, whether he sings or speaks. His acting is also incredible, so convincing. I admire him so much. A great inspiration and a model to follow in this business.
I am currently hooked to this musical. I've never heard of it before the confinement and thanks to this channel I have discovered it. At first, I was a bit astonished plot-wise and I was constantly comparing it with the original, but bit by bit it has grown on me and now I fully enjoy it. The music is beautiful and this production gives it justice.
Thank you for everything you are doing Andrew Lloyd Webber.
I’d love to be able to watch Evita during one of these broadcasts.
If they do it, it’ll probably be the film with Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce rather than a live recording.
@@EditorOfSL They're more likely to use a stage version but I don't know if there is one. They did use a stage version of Phantom instead of the movie.

He didn't even try to look sexy here.
Yep I agree, I want the tall sad man over Raoul in LND any day!
I want Phantom over Raoul always 😍😍😍😍 Also in POTO 😅😅
Phantom is just the best 🥰🥰
I can’t get this song out of my head ♥️🌹
Me neither. I feel bad for him losing Christine. This song shows he clearly longs for her. That he and Christine are not completely whole without each other, hence her reactions when he sings to her. When he sings, she longs for him too.
I don't think I can express how much I love this cast for LND and LND in general. Ben Lewis as Erik was just- amazing. From his basic way his body looks, to his voice, to his acting skills, and down to his mannerisms. It screams ghostly, confident, and yet charming and welcoming. And maybe this was just me, but I feel like Ben Lewis adds this personality to Erik. That feels like he has a very cold and scary to the outside world. But someone who cares deeply for Christen and Gustave. Ben Lewis doesn't just play the part in the moment, he becomes Erik. Just from the opening song you can feel these raw emotions. You can feel how much he is sad and lonely, and how much he just wants to hold Christen again.
even if this doesn't make sense, Ben Lewis is an amazing Erik. And for me personally, he is 100% the Erik I have always imagined.
His acting is a bit stiff, but it's exactly how I'd imagine the phantom acting in that said moment. And to top it off, Ben actually cries in the ending scene!
What a beautiful voice and great performance.this is how I picture the Phantom. Bravo!
Loved the production of Love Never Dies! I watched it twice before it was taken down this morning.
Note to phantom: sometimes it's best to let love die.
DonaBologna before it actually (physically) dies :c
I mean, this is the Phantom we're talking about. Half his personality consists of obsession over something...
This is part of Phantom personality: he is partly obsessed with Christine and with love because he is starved for love since he was born 😭😭😍😍
Love Ben Lewis
Ben Lewis and Anna O’Byrne were incredible in this production! I’ve been watching this clip on repeat! Ben Lewis nailed it!
Ben Lewis gives me life😍🥰
I think I'm already crazy. I listen to this song like....every single night! Sometimes in morning, too. I just can't help it. The lyrics is already beautiful, passionate and honest. And Ben's interpretation to the lyrics and song is amazing. Tender but set you on fire. He successfully shows the deep painful and strong feeling of the Phantom that transforms him from the powerful and confident man to a very vulnerable man, because of his love to Christine. Pfff.... ok, come on, Desy, get back to work! I'm always distracted with this performance.
my favorite phantom, no doubt 💖
