$35 is asking a lot for a game that has a great vision and concept but is frankly a s**t storm. A lot of Early Access games are rough around the edges, but this here is a different story entirely. I spent my $35 so you don't have to! Love Reggie xxx
Pax Dei, is another title you may wanna check out in early access with a rather high price point $39.99 for the game and 2 founder packs one at $59.99 the other at $99.99. The trailers and game look real nice in screenshots but the lack of any other titles from the dev and I get red flag warning senses when looking at it in general.
You know I understand the critiques of this being a highly priced Ealy access game but to compare it to BG3 and hades 2 is kinda unfair considering they are from well established developers with multiple successful title under there belts. I agree with your statement about need to critique the game if it's asking for your money to see if it's worth the investment but do you not consider it takes money to improve the game? And yes performance is an issue an has been noted and is in the works to be addressed. I am only playing devil's advocate because as someone who started my career studying professional meteorology (storm chasing) considering this is using actual model data I see this as an impressive recreation. And want to emphasize that yes this is a first day blues. I agree there is alot it needs to address from performance to better tutorials but considering what it has with a new small dev studio which only came around to develop this game so far and has been around for the existence of this game. I think critiques are necessary but a bit heavy handed on this. Besides this game seems more developed for the storm chasing community than the video game community in my opinion. I do enjoy your review though and hopes it gives them the drive to fix these part they lack in on this game.
Very kind words mate, and very fair critique. The point you raise that wasn’t really made really clear in the video when comparing to Baldurs Gate 3 and Hades 2 was how the channel doesn’t shit on early access for the sake of it. In fact I probably should have used other examples, in particular where one or two people developed an early access game and where the results were still amazing. Braid. Stardew Valley. Phasmophobia. Bodycam to name some top of my head. So it’s not so much about comparing a small studio with a tiny development team to those big hitters that I used in my video, but rather saying “hey… early access games, even when made by just one or two people can still be highly polished so we need to judge a $35 asking price in that context”. That’s my fault for not making that point much clearer in how I explained it. It’s more than fair and reasonable in how you viewed that point so appreciate you sharing and most importantly being reasonable in your view. Cheers to you mate 🍻
Idk- I live in tornado alley and have generally learned how to read a radar for storm threats. I saw multiple tornados in my first hour. Complaints about optimization/lag is fair game, but the storm chasing it's self is fine.
@@TheSUPERWIND2023 Why bother looking at this game if you're not looking for realism. Something all simulator players have been wanting. A storm in a storm chasing game not producing a tornado all the time is realistic. But based on your logic games are not supposed to be realistic and are more about giving you an immediate dopamine hit. In other words "Realism doesn't belong in gaming. If you want realism do it IRL". Despite the fact people like you are f**kin hypocrites. You're always complaining that your COD is not realistic enough. You want it to be so realistic that you get PTSD from playing it. And just like that we're back to where we started, "At that point I would just enlist in the military and do it IRL", lol.
Okay, my turn to chime in. As a degreed meteorologist who happens to chase storms, for an early access title with two developers working tirelessly over nearly 4 years to get this up and running, I'm not overly-disappointed. While there are some bugs (which is to be expected early in the title's lifecycle), it is indeed playable, but I may have a bit of a biased view as I'm running top-notch hardware. Yes, I had a few of what seemed to be lag spikes, but this could be related to shortcomings and refinement points in the netcode perhaps, so I'm not going to grill too hard on that topic. Thirty five USD is about what I pay for a tank of fuel to chase real-life storms, and I'm confident they are putting that revenue toward the future development of the game. I can't gripe about that either. Real-life chasing is rather devoid of enticing visuals aside from the storms, often taking place in 'mapdot' style towns, so the 'featureless' comment is accurate...and is a representation of life in the field doing this. I do believe that most are confusing this title as a 'game', while in fact, it is designed to be a simulator, which is clearly represented in the description. There is a lot to offer in this title and a lot more coming, so perhaps it would be prudent to reserve such harsh judgements for when the title is in a full-release state. It's a rather complicated undertaking and so far, the devs have done a pretty solid job. I'm excited to see where this goes in the future with some polish! Try lowering the graphics to high or medium, as this was incorporated as a sort of 'future-proofing' for the title. I tried this as well and it worked very well with zero degradation in graphics quality or integrity.
Yes, as a storm chaser, I think this is worth the price. They have put together quite the engine to start with. I'm looking forward to improvements in driving... I'm wondering if they could have a novice and pro mode. In pro mode, you would have a slower pace, have to do a bit of forecasting to choose your region. You would also be able to have more choice on where you would be able to place your vehicle before storms form. For this you would need a larger map of course. Great opening effort! Looking forward to what they develop to improve the sim even more.
The radar products leave a little to be desired for me. It is apparent that the storms themselves have the bulk of the work put towards them, and that does show very clearly in these early stages, but the map design feels almost like an afterthought. On ramps and off ramps that make no sense, highways that terminate at a bump in the road towns edge forcing me do drive around the town to pick back up the highway on the other side. A massive mountain that’s easily a five plus minute drive around in the western section of the map where I have seen a lot of the tornado genesis occurring. Forcing me to either get a short look at the tornado before it hits that mountain or drive around and risking it roping out before I can intercept. I’ve played about ten hours now and I haven’t even seen the eastern half of the map because there’s never a storm over there (in my play so far). A thirty five dollar price tag and ten hour of gameplay later and I’m still at my current pace another twenty to thirty hours away from making real vehicle progression. I have high hopes they will improve the gameplay but as it stands I can’t justify spending my little free time playing this right now.
Even if I look at it as a simulator instead of a game, it makes all immersion go out the window when I see the exact same scenario and the same storms for the N-th time, sometimes in a row. They really need to get some randomization working so you can at least play for longer than the refund window before you run out of content to experience.
as a former air force meteorologist i think the game is fantastic in concept but its going to take time to flush out the details and make it look good. the controls are simple and it resembles many other simulator type games. i get so excited when im able to see and predict things that are going on. ive only played solo but ive had a blast. im also playing on an msi laptop with a 3060 gpu and an intel i7 11800h if i fiddle with the settings i can get it to run great at medium and i can have the cloud textures on max which i fell is a necessity as its very difficult to discern details in the clouds. i have been playing almost 5 hours and i havent experienced lag almost at all. its been a pretty smooth experience. i was disappointed however when i tried to walk up stairs on a random building but they were blocked by an invisible wall. in total i will absolutely continue to play and for people with a significant interest or prior knowledge of storms and atmospheric dynamics i would recommend investing in this game. i think the $35 price tag is a bit high but not unreasonable. if we want the best product it absolutely helps to financially support the devs. i want people to get that feeling like sam sparks from cloudy with a chance lol
Fair enough. But I can get that real knowledge without paying $35 for it. Look, it's a very nice concept, but this attempt to realise a 'storm chasing' experience is not going to cut it as a simulation. Why? Because weather is chaotic, so the gameplay needs to be somewhat dynamic, not preset.
@@sunnyjim1355 unfortunately the real knowledge is watching storm chasing college courses on RUclips or actually storm chasing for years. I think they could have helped out new players with a better tutorial but honestly you just wouldn't have enough time to explain what a player needs to know to play well. It's a heck of a simulator and the weather systems are wildly realistic. I just don't think it's going to be for the faint of heart when it comes to new players. There's going to be a very high learning curve like Tarkov in the extraction shooter world. New players are going to have to learn from their failures.
@@sunnyjim1355 You said yourself, weather is chaotic. The developers have said that if they wanted to create dynamic weather, it would pretty much destroy your pc because the way the models are ran are very hefty. It would be different if they got rid of most of their selling points, but as it stands now, dynamic weather isn't going to be in the game for a while. They do plan on rotating the models out to make it more dynamic, which is not completely what everyone wants, but cut them some slack. 2 developers making this entire simulation as well as they can with the resources they have is amazing, regardless of your opinion.
Clever and witty review! Sure OUTBRK isn't perfect but it's a start. I can first start by telling you I have no ties to this game or the developers by any means other than I was a backer and a tester for the game. I was asked if I wanted to do a quick spot of "this will be worth so many points" for the tutorial and I said yes pressed record and sent 3 shitty versions of me saying that the best I could "act" it out. The reason why I am so passionate about this project is because I have been chasing storms since 2011 IRL. There isn't anything that has come close to this so for me it's a different experience when you have the passion. As a outside gamer I can see where you are coming from, some sims I play I tend to forgive a lot of these things because of the gameplay element I am looking for. Anywho carry on, keep going at RUclips and have a good weekend!
Very kind of you to reply Jeff. And no, your voice isn’t “shitty”, it’s rather beautiful! Big fan of you and your channel (I watched your actual real life storm chasing vid and thought it was epic). Also appreciate you clearing up the tutorial voice over. Was never an implication my end that anything untoward was happening, but rather if you were the champion for their PR given you have so much clout, which clearly isn’t the case. Again, thank you mate and keep safe in those storms! Cheers 🍻
I totally agree with a lot of these points. The game is expensive for an early access game, the performance leaves MUCH to be desired, and the graphics could use some work… THAT being said, as an avid weather enthusiast and storm chaser, this is the best storm chasing game I have ever played. Not because of any of those reasons above, but because of the skill needed to predict a storm by looking at the data, make quick decisions based on that data, and be “safe” while doing so. There is not a large market for storm chasing games, and because of that I feel the need to give some leeway to this early access game and what it has provided so far. It needs a lot of work most definitely, but I really do like the realistic aspect of you may have an amazing chase, or you come up with zip. In real life, that is a very very very real feeling. It needs work; a LOT of work. But as it stands now, I’d definitely argue it has the potential to become something amazing, and has already provided some things more than any chasing game.
Hello! Sorry to hear you had a negative experience while playing the game. I just want to say that I have spent a lot of time with these devs and they are definitely extremely passionate about the project! They've been spending all day yesterday and today working on fixes for issues people were experiencing and have big plans for the future. This definitely isn't some cash grab that was cobbled together in 5 minutes. Servers seem to be working a lot better now and it should continue to improve as these patches get implemented. Personally, I enjoy the game quite a bit, I think it is currently the highest fidelity simulation of weather that you can experience right now, but I understand your frustration. I hope to see you back soon for a re-review once the kinks get ironed out and the full vision the developers have for this game becomes realized!
You or no one else needs to apologise for making a game and trying to give us consumers joy. Look, this is just a critical review of one persons opinion, and on the flipside people are taking my reviews every time I release one and critique them no end saying they are a load of crap! It’s part and parcel of what I chose to do! As you say, I don’t believe it’s a cash grab, and nor do I think some of the early issues will be present moving forward (like the server connection). As noted early on, my only goal is to review a game based on the value proposition and where it’s at right now. Hades 2 is a great example of that. My feeling is if this was launched at $10 and then gradually went higher as we approached 1.0, then it’s a much fairer value proposition.but at $35 with all of its issue and missing features, it’s a hard pass for now. But I’ve seen other content creators say quite the opposite! And 100% I’ll do a re-review once we hit 1.0! It’s absolutely the fairest and most honest way to review any early access game. Thank you for the comment, cheers 🍻
Outbrk still looks similar to the play test they did a couple years ago and it may actually look a bit worse. It’s like they haven’t made many differences from then to now.
It's exactly these critical reviews that are the reason it's Early Access, hopefully they fix a lot of the issues. However, this game is really made for meteorologists or at least storm spotters, so it's going to be hard to get into it as it is for a niche community.
Yeah it's because they want them to work like real life they generate the preset threw an model but i hope maybe one day we can generate our own preset so we got random situation.
@@ThomasCoulais Yeah it whould be cool if you could choose a date of a certain location and get your own preset but I whouldent really know how they whould make that happen but yeah
here is some extra info/my 2 cents regarding certain things: in total there are 15 scenarios, keep in mind the game was in development for 7 or so years. scenarios are made using WRF simulations, which you can run on your own computer. Frankly. 7(?) years for 15 scenarios with no variability is a bit of a major issue. The devs arent exactly fond of player input. They took a lot of legit steam reviews criticizing the game as “trolls”, and actually asked people to “leave positive reviews to combat trolls”, which as far as I know, is against TOS. I talked to one of the devs and gave him constructive criticism, but it rather seemed like he dodged any question I had gameplay related, and when I responded, he just ignored me and moved on. Overall not a good look in that department. They’ve also had 10s of thousands of dollars worth of funding via kickstarter. The concept is cool, it was just executed very poorly, and the devs really need to change their attitude as far as feedback goes for this to really flourish. I’ll give credit where credit is due and say they’ve made an impressive system. But thats just my 2 cents on the game, I might edit this later incase I remember anything
The weather was fully created and simulated on what is essentially a supercomputer the dev had to rent (not cheap) It was then translated using a custom made tool (by the dev) so it could run visually and within the engine. Its a long expensive process to do which is why there are limited scenarios, but every single one of them is an exact simulation. All the data, locations, speeds, heights and radars are so accurate they could be used in the real world. its a miracle that it even runs on a high spec PC at all. I'm sure it will get better but there are so many calculations that goes into every tiny little detail, you wont be running this on a toaster like doom.
im going to be honest here, with 2 years of full development behind it, Twisted on Roblox.. yes i said it, a ROBLOX GAME. Is so much better than this game. FOR FREE.
Plz read this. I was going to buy a pc just for this game this week i qas on amazon looking very hard. I have been reading about Outbrk for years also. While on utube watching hype videos early access on Jeff's page I stumbled across a tornado game on roblox in my suggestions. I didn't click the link but I thought to myself roblox has tornado games? I booted up my ps5 went into the ps store found roblox and it was free. Downloaded it typed in tornadoes played a few and landed on twisted. I've been playing for three days straight. You do get booted from the game from time to time but I really enjoy it and because of what I'm seeing and everything...I just saved myself thousands of dollars.
Nah twisted is not better the clouds look horrible tornados looks like pencil coming from the skies and its on the roblox engine dont have to say anything more give outbrk some time to fix the problems what is expected for a early acess game
@rayotoxi1509 give them time but they took ur 35$ Took them 5 or so years to come out with this. If u wanna wait another 3 go ahead. I'll play twisted for free.
I doubt you have ill-intent toward this game, but I would like to correct some false-assumptions/inaccurate critiques you've made of the game. 1. $35 is a lot of money. But the two developers had to singlehandedly code importing real life weather data into a video game that runs realtime on people's computers. This has never been done before, and they have filed several patents for this process and technology that they've developed. It cost more than 50,000 USD for them to develop this game along with this technology. It was expensive to produce, and it will be expensive to improve. It was not an easy task by any means to create. They are not greedy, they literally need this money to continue producing the game and pay for the loans they took out to produce it. It is a hefty price to fund a game that will become the greatest storm chasing game ever created. 2. Lower the graphics settings to medium. The game will look nearly the same as it does at high settings, and you will be getting 60fps just like that. This has been extensively recommended in the Outbrk discord server to anyone with performance issues. They know that this is an issue and it will be fixed very soon. 3. It is a simulator of real life chasing. The developers' goal was to make a game that is as close to chasing as humanly possible. It is not supposed to be easy by any means. Why did they do this? Every other storm chasing game out there procedurally generates storms that are extremely predictable and easy to chase- Outbrk's goal was to make storms based on real life so that they acted like real life, and were hard to chase like real life. They have a set of 14 scenarios currently that last 45 minutes to 1 hour thirty minutes. That is about 14 hours of playtime to get through the entire list of scenarios, not to mention the fact that people have reported that chasing the same storm several times is enjoyable so they can perfect their strategy and improve on their chase to get higher scores. They will cycle out the scenarios very frequently, so there will never be a moment where their playerbase gets tired of the current set of scenarios. 4. It is a 625km2 map designed by TWO developers with full time jobs. Their focus was a realistic storm chasing game with a map big enough to support the real, near 1:1 scale of real life storms. The map is bare bones right now because the quality of the map itself does not matter; the clouds and realistic storm structure were their priority. They will greatly improve on the map in due time. 5. This is opinion based. I would recommend showcasing the audio of this game that matters: the weather FX. This would be much better so the audience can decide this for themselves. I have heard only good things about the audio design in the Outbrk discord server across the board, except for the car engine sounds.
The Community of this game is like the community from "the day before" ngl. It dosent matter what the two developers do when they dont work on this game. There are so many problems with this game and this after 7 years of work. 35$ is a joke and everyone (execpt hardcore fanboys and girls) won't be suprised when this game will die in no time. And don't get me wrong, you can like this "game", no one is blaming you. But stop defending all the problems it has. Tell the problems to the "hard working devs" and hope that it will get better, but at the moment.. it's just crap compared with other games. (yea even compared to the tornado chasing game in roblox.)
Totally get the critique and appreciate you sharing your thoughts. A few things I’d add to this: 1) No one is ever owed or deserving of your money. No is saying they haven’t worked hard, or that they want to recoup development costs. But a lot of games out there are developed by just one or two people (Stardew Valley, Bodycam, Phasmophobia to name a few). Fundamentally, a game has to be weighed up if it’s worthy of your $35, and in this case I don’t believe so. Of course, that’s just subjective on my part and one of many views. 2) lowering graphics shouldn’t be an option of a game of this nature on a 4090. 15fps doesn’t tell me it’s rough around the edges at max settings (does this look max!) bur rather it’s fundamentally broken. 3) completely agree on point 3. I play a lot of simulator style games so take this point fairly. The concern of the 15 preset weather conditions though is a big surprise… 4) big isn’t always better if it’s bland. ATS is huge but still enjoyable to drive about it. 5) I call out the storms as being the one plus point on the weather. But it’s beyond awful everywhere else I’m afraid. Again, there is a lot of janky and bad “simulator” or indie projects out there on steam. I’ve played hundreds and this is definitely one of the lower ones I’ve ever played when it comes to sound. Thank you for sharing mate, some very fair points but just wanted to add some additional context around the things I said. 🍻
@@DerM0chi twisted has a whole team and takes like 8 months to update and while i did use to enjoy twisted i hope outbrk can come up and be the new storm chasing game
"Billy Butcher reviews OUTBRK" All jokes aside I completely agree, they should have kept working on the game for a few more months before release. This was the very first game I bought before waiting for reviews and I regret it, never making that mistake again. Hopefully this game pulls a no mans sky and fixes all the issues.
Its not released tho.....they just put it in Early Access...that's not a full release that's just letting people play it before the final product which what a team of 2 developers is smart because there is no way they could playtest the thing to the extent a community could.
This game needs alot more work but i do feel the love which formed this game. 35 is quite alot to ask indeed. But the absolute idiotic idea to not put this game in UE5 and use Unity?! What a crazy idea.
I feel Unity of late has been getting a bit left behind. Cities Skylines 2 really showed how the vision never quite matches the execution. In saying that, I’m not a programmer so what the hell do I know! Appreciate the comment!
I don’t think you guys understand the amount of programming it takes to get the cloud system to behave realistically based of radar images. I gladly paid the 35 bucks just because I’m not ignorant to the hard work it takes to program a sim like this. Aestetics are useless if the main core of the game is crap. Eventually I’m confident they will pretty it up as well as iron the performance issues. It just launch.
In the nicest possible way to the developers, just because something is hard to do doesn’t instantly mean it should get a high score and therefore your money. You have to judge an early access game like you would any other early access game, especially one that is $35. No man’s sky received an absolute beating on its release… yet the developers clearly worked hard on creating that universe. But they now reap the rewards and accolades as they kept pushing the game up to the standards expected of a full priced game. No one here is saying they haven’t worked hard on Outbrk. No one is saying that the cloud development based off radar images isn’t interesting or impressive. But translating that into a game that’s fun and entertaining is the skill they need to show most. Otherwise, the very medium of game design shouldn’t have been their chosen path, and instead they should have created a simulator online with a paid service to educate people. But if gaming is your chosen avenue then I’m afraid that’s how it going to be judged by game reviewers. There are lots of simulators in this space that achieve good scores because the simulator that runs in the background is still met by a great game. I’m only giving my opinion based on this asking for a $35 tag… which for me is insane given the product received.
There are multiple games on Roblox that achieve the same level of accuracy and complexity of the storm system in this game. Maybe it’s just because I played two games of it and got the exact same scenario both times, but I didn’t notice the weather being any more complex than Twisted’s weather system. Unless I couldn’t find them, there were way more thermodynamics in twisted and twisted has more detailed hodographs. That’s all free. This game also didn’t have any more radar feeds than twisted.
@@jpscientist23 well you are playing twisted cause it’s free. As most people do. This game needed money to start. If I read correctly it was in dev for 4 years with backers money. I’m not sure how long it will take for them to sort things out but my guess on the price is, this is not a popular field to begin with. A sim about it won’t have the same traffic as those FPS games so therefore not many would be willing to get into it. So I would think they put a high price on it to compensate for the lack of users willing to play it to begin with. I mean I spend 15 bucks on a burger. I didn’t have a problem with the 35 because I know it will get more updates. I already played like 7 hrs on it so if I were to pay for the hr I already got my moneys worth (if I never touch it again) being $5 an hr. But they will keep updating and they will keep going deep into it. I’m sure at some point the will even update descriptions for probes and the cars and every other thing storm chasers get. It’s just fun to think what they could do with funds. But I get it’s not for everyone and not everyone is in the position to hand out money just because you see potential.
As someone who has literally DREAMT of being a real storm chaser but doesn't have the time, budget, or vehicle, yet plays a lot of video games, I'd say this is a solid SIMULATOR. The gameplay honestly is realistic in terms of reading a radar, and really feeling like a storm chaser. I would wait to say anything about performance/graphics until the real game comes out, and even then its supposed to be a realistic open-world sim. I have the worst laptop, with the qualifications not even meeting minimum, and was able to have a little fun on the single player (al beit constant lag not usual for the device). Currently, if you have a stronger pc I would actually highly recommend this sim if you love weather and geek out like me! Do the graphics look pretty bad right now? Absolutely! Does the game lag and spike sometimes? For sure! But that doesn't mean they aren't trying. Right now I believe (and have seen after the updates) they are focusing in the main objective before graphics---making it a working game. In addition, many of the early game/sim testers are weather nerds and chasers alike, and they (the developers) really want their input to make it as real as a simulator as they can. In my personal opinion I would rather sacrifice graphics if I can have an otherwise realistic chasing experience using real radar and no lag spikes, especially since the developers have actually been listening to the testers!!! (Sad that its rare). You are completely entitled to your opinion, no h4te here! I myself would just wait until 1.0 to start bashing it, as you don't know what the future holds, and have found it to be worth the $35. Pokemon Scarlet on the other hand...
Lovely comment mate and a good rebuttal and well critiqued. Glad you’re having fun with it and appreciate you being courteous in your disagreement - that’s what’s this channel is all about so thank you for sharing! Cheers to you!
the lag and frame rate drop issues were so bad for me, basically cant play it, especially when entering a storm the whole thing basically lags. also had to restart a few times because the game would crash when loading the scenario
I will say, I did get hit with major performance issues initially, but since im on an RX 570, that kinda makes sense, so i pushed that to the side. However, I can safely get 50 fps constant throughout the gameplay now after the current patch, as apposed to the 10-20 i was getting on launch day. I looked forward to this, and honestly I can see where you're coming from, especially since there are some pretty major bugs that still need to be ironed out. I can't wait to see how much your opinion changes in a few months after the game gets a bit more ironed out!
As a huge meteorology nerd and someone who lives in the heart of tornado alley and eats this shit up, I couldn't buy this game fast enough when I found it. I have a pretty fast PC, so while the performance is irritating, it's mostly tolerable. What is really pissing me off most about the game is what the name of it infers "Outbreak." I don't know if it's just bad luck on my part, but I usually get only one or two briefly lived tornadoes over the course of a chase, maybe 3 with one long lived one if I'm particularly lucky. In the Midwest, we do not call 2 or 3 tornadoes an "outbreak", we call that "Tuesday". It feels like less of a tornado chasing simulator and more like a "drive an infuriatingly crappy econobox around in some mild rain and wind" simulator. I had so much hope for this, on paper it's the game I've wanted FOREVER.
This puts a lot of my thoughts perfectly! A lot of people are like that’s chasing, and as a chaser myself it definitely is epically the busts, but there is still plenty of amazing clouds and scenery to explore on the chase. In this game there is not. The cloud features aren’t great and there is a lack of a ton of supercell features that are amazing to see. Maybe there will be updates that fix a lot of this to make it a storm chasing game rather than a tornado game (if that makes sense).
Appreciate the honest cut and dry review mate. Been waiting to see this game for a while. Really sucks I have to wait even longer to play something that's quality.
While I agree with most of what is said here, I will say the empty rolling fields of nothing make me feel right at home. This is exactly what this part of the world looks like, for better or worse. Now, the graphical fidelity on the other hand needs some work, but as far as the actual basis of the graphics go, its pretty damn realistic.
i've seen this video a long time ago and have no clue if i've commented or not. just wanted to say that i love what you do and how you make jokes. while i do agree that the tutorial is shit, it's overpriced, the graphics look bad and what not, the game has a lot of potential. i am really interested in tornadoes and this is the exact game i've been looking for. the game is actually really fun if you know what you're doing. one more thing - if you're planning on reviewing this game once more, i'd say it's best to do it in 4 months, as that's when the devs road map approximately ends. by that point the game should have way more features, better performance and graphics.
Thank you mate, and 100% on all of this. I’ve re-reviewed the off few games now since their release, so this is a point well made. No man’s sky is a well known example of a redemption arc, so yes, I will re-review in time for sure. As for me, I’m interested in this tornado chasing stuff, it’s why I bought the game! Just wasn’t what I expected but I’m hearing already the performance has improved a lot since this review so that’s good.
I have to say I’m a little concerned by the player count on Steam already. I really hope they got enough funds to improve and move forward, but my fear is this game might die an early death. Fingers crossed I’m proved wrong.
I pulled this one off of my wishlist with your help. Thank you good sir! You saved me a headache. I was amazed at the price tag like everyone, but from what you showed, it wrapped things up. I'll be sticking with Storm Chasers.
I've been waiting for this game for a few years, the second I saw $35 for a game that's early access from a studio that has never even released a game I was a little stunned, then the second I started watching gameplay I was extremely disappointed and wondered what the hell they've been doing for the last few years
The preset storms were incredibly disappointing to hear about. I know nothing about game design, or if there is a way to make the storms truly random each game. But as a storm chaser myself, part of the thrill is the unexpected. The uncertainty on what a storm might do at a given moment. Having presets kinda destroys one of the main aspects of Storm Chasing in my opinion. I have very high hopes for this game. I really hope in the coming months it really fixes a lot and makes the game more lively!
I never really explained “why” presets were an issue, so thank you for sharing your thoughts as you explain exactly how I feel about it. I’m sure they have their reasons, but it does take the mystery out of it.
Basically the reason why this game is able to run without actually making your computer explode, while also not ruining the accuracy of the weather, is because it's preset. It takes a crazy amount of time to simulate a fully accurate weather system, so pre-simulating them and then just replaying them on your computer allows you to actually run it. The only way to really avoid this is to compromise the accuracy, OR to allow the player to generate their own storm presets beforehand. Which would take a VERY long time and require an even beefier PC. I'm pretty sure simulations like this take days to complete.
@@catpoke9557 I played the game a couple times and had the exact same scenario twice in a row. I play a lot of Roblox twisted and I feel it’s a lot more random in its storms. Would there be a way to instead of making full day scenarios make it so there’s chances of a preset storm spawning for a scenario. Maybe add more thermodynamics and that lowers and raises the chances of storms happening, more or less storms in a given scenario. It makes each game unique.
I think the server issues are a bit eeehh but most games now and days have those, other than that it's an awesome game. Been playing since 10 am today and have had a blast and multiplayer also works now
Thanks for sharing mate. I say this to a lot of my comments but I’m just one opinion of many, always good to see peoples other views here! Thanks for sharing.
I got my cuppa in hand, I'm ready! Right off the bat you used one of my favorite UK words: boffins! I'm a wanna-be weather nerd, so I was hoping this would pan out. Those pressure systems and other metrics would be great to follow. I'm watching cause I love your stuff, but man I wanted this to be fun to see how to actually follow and track weather. Bummer to see it's not ready yet. Such a novel concept. Would love to have to scan the skies watching for striations, looking for the wall cloud before RFD... would be novel fun! Imagine being able to get your car geared up to intersect a tornado, trying to get readings and camera footage while your vehicle is pounded by debris. I hope they keep working on this. Bonus: today I learned "wonga."
Boffins is a great word… we need to bring it back! Honestly, it has all the ingredients to make this great. Just like how folks made a police mod for GTA, I sort of wonder if this would have been done better that way (using a games assets and building from there). Thanks for commenting mate, hopefully I saved you some wonga! :-)
Well, this is a point in case of how shitty reviews really do affect people from trying something themselves. Hopefully you read all the comments disagreeing with this bell end. Hopefully you at least did some research other than just jump on the first opinion of someone who was talking out of their ass.
Because its only early acess now, maybe it looks bad, but there will be updates guys and this game will be fire and dont say its a disappointment if its only on early acess.
I've been wanting a sweet storm chasing sim to play for a long time but yea, when I first saw the gameplay previews a month ago I wasn't too optimistic about the game's performance and fidelity at launch. This just further reiterates that Im going to be waiting a while before I get to chase storms digitally.
Unfortunately I gotta agree here. Was super excited for this game for a very long time, the lack of procedural generation kills replayability, and if I'm going to only experience a dozen scenarios or so, why would I do it when the game is this poorly optimized. Still have hope for the future for sure, but for now it's back to Twisted lol.
Yeah but the fact of the matter is. This is a small dev team, theyve already addressed the performance issues and its mostly because of the tech they use for the clouds. The game also puts everyone to fantastic graphics at start instead of medium like most games do. Game is also ran on unity which is also, really known to have its own fair share of problems. $35 isnt bad especially when they dont have the funding like other big studios have. They have to make money some how and since most dlc is gonna be free, they have to make money off people buying it. Early Access reviewers even said the game was rough but still fun. The game is fun and relaxing and takes a detour from your usually competitive games.
I agree it's NOT worth the price right now. THAT SAID....I think a lot of the money was put into the cloud system. In most games, it's simple. Even in another game I play that has tornado weather, it's just an item that drops down, doesn't even reach the sky, and is obviously not realistic. This game has the most realistic cloud system I've ever seen. But...that's all that's worth at least part of the money. The rest of it needs balancing and refining, optimizing, but the potential is there.
I kept up with the dev updates for this game for the past few years, finally wanting a good looking + good gameplay feeling stormchasing game. From what I saw, I'll wait until its more fleshed out and polished. It just doesn't seem like what I hoped for. I guess I'll stick to playing Twisted for some more time
I agree that it needs a lot of work, but that's okay! I paid the full price since I'm in a position where I can and i want to give the devs some support. I've loved the game so far since I'm a massive weather nerd and I'm just grateful that there's a team trying to create this unique experience. That said, I can't disagree with your review.
Perfectly said mate. Here’s the thing, if you have the cash and understanding of what this game is at present, especially if you like this type of game, then 100% it’s for you. You said it absolutely right and I totally agree with you in how you’ve entered this game. Sadly a lot of people think the score is low for the sake of it which I promise it isn’t. I’m merely rating it based on price/value and current standard. That could so easily increase as the game develops and I absolutely would re-review it too. So everything you said I couldn’t agree more with. Cheers for commenting
I got baited by the upgrades shop thinking there was some progression but it's all just cosmetics for now. So I'll refund and wait a few years until there's more stuff to do especially because replaying the same storms is boring.
Thanks for the honest review! Their first mistake was not making this in UE5. It looks like 2007 crap! The main takeaway from the game is peoole want tornados in games!
Admittedly I play 4k as I like all my recording’s done in that way. But even still, a game like this shouldn’t test my rig at all. Since starting the channel I’ve invested a lot into it to ensure some great gameplay clips and this game crushed it. As for my hard drive… it sure is good!
Haha… well I do like myself a simulator style game. And weirdly growth on this channel comes from those more niche games than it does the big hitters as they are already covered by the major RUclipsrs! Full disclosure my side, this channel makes on average around $150 a month, so I reinvest the entirety of that into buying games for reviews for you lovely folks. So I can’t lie and pretend I am out of pocket, but rather I break even in the hope one day the channel keeps growing! Glad it was entertaining mate, that’s what this is all about for me! Cheers to you 🍻
Only thing I really fully agree with is the bad performance (which I think is basically unavoidable with realistic weather simulations) and crap graphics. Of course it's also buggy, but I expect that from a game that just released. Other than that the game seems pretty much perfect. Although I've noticed you run out of gas insanely fast, which is weird considering the distances you travel to chase are relatively accurate to real life. So you'd think the gas would be closer to real life too, although of course not fully like real life, because then you wouldn't have to refill even once. The gas seems annoying. I think the environment is very realistic and the fact that real-world knowledge applies fully to this game is AMAZING. The biggest problem gameplay-wise for me is that, since the storms are so realistic, it's not really possible to simulate them randomly in real-time. So you don't get randomly generated storms. Which means it'll be an amazing game the first time you encounter storms, and probably for a while after as well so you can re-explore and spot things you didn't before, but once you've explored it all it won't really be replayable anymore. Of course replayability is not necessary for any game, but it's always a huge plus.
My other issue besides performance with this game is the way the tornadoes and wall clouds (if there is any at all) look, does not at all match real life to the degree that was promised in 2020, so yes I'd agree this was quite a disappointment. Roblox Storm Chasing games offer a more arcade experience with longer replay value and better performance at this point to be completely honest.
Everyone keep an open mind THEY SAID ITS NOT 1.0 YET it’s getting better, you need to be patient. My bug is I can’t join online but I know that will be fixed. Don’t hate on them, just know that this will be more then a Roblox game in the future
Man I wanted to cover this game on my channel and perhaps stream it. But after watching Jeff, its just a whole lot of driving for very little action. Currently, Twisted is a better game since its free and you can get lots of good action and fun chasing. The performance of this game and lack of action does not make it worth it. This is a revisit in a year typa game, it feels dev released this waay too early.
I have to say mate, I have got more enjoyment from watching Jeff actually play the game than I did playing myself (he’s great entertainment). So for now it’s probably the best way!
This game is about realism. Twisted is an arcade tornado game, and isn’t realistic at all. The main goal of twisted is to be fun. In outbrk, you have to actually know where to go and what to do. It’s a big decision making game, just like irl.
it needs ai traffic and cops that can pull you over for speeding unsafe moves etc congestion in populated areas but 2 devs its amazing they have this much working
I bought it and refunded😢. The performance was very poor even in medium settings. Don't get me wrong it has huge potential but right now tryoung to play with 15 fps for 35euros it's just annoying, I will buy again for sure in the future when the game is in a better shape.
Always welcome mate. And yes, it’s my guilty pleasure… I spend hours in these types of games and question my life. But I have to say this is more one of the “bad” of the “bad” if you get my drift. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for covering what needs improvements to the game! Honestly, Im glad I didn't buy the game yet but I'll be waiting at the right moment until it is worth buying. I get its in development but they really need to improve the tornadoes, lightning, textures, etc because they just look very bland. I'll be waiting...
You’re welcome mate and yes spot on… they clearly got the game functioning and the tech powering the weather is up and running, but maybe it needed another 6 months to get the visual up to par. From a marketing perspective, I wonder if they wanted this out whilst the new Twisters Movie launched to ride that wave.
@@cockneygamer Thats probably why but we will never know. Tbh, Outbrk actually did look better when it was in development in 2018, but the tornadoes looked meh and they need to work on wallcloud and mesocyclones too because they are barely visible.
People are defending this game way too heavily. I got it when it released on steam and its a mess currently. 35 dollars for an early access is insane, it runs like im using a calculator to play it, its so barren in terms of the environment, the graphics look like im back in 2013 and the online is barely functional. I immediately refunded the game. Having early access on the steam page does not excuse the high price tag. If im paying that much for a game, it should be much more polished than it currently is.
Couldn’t agree more here. Weirdly a lot of folks are saying “buts it’s a simulator… not a game” which I’m struggling to understand. Lots of simulator games are accessible and well polished.
I think a lot of people are defending it so hard because for all intents and purposes it is honestly the highest fidelity storm chasing game out right now on the actual weather side of things for one, and second because we all shelled out 35$ and we must cope with our wallets being lighter. That said the map design for me leaves much to be desired. The roads make no sense, you don’t choose where to spawn, what a mess so far.
@@MosleyWasRightyouve made some fair and honest points here (in your other comment too). I don’t shjt on games for the sake of it, but I’m struggling to see the strong defence of this $35 game that as you say is a mess. Yes it’s early access and I get it has its warts, and hopefully many can be fixed. But the many issues I have, especially in the visuals would require a whole new engine and starting from scratch. Currently as I type this there are 192 players playing it. And the peak in the last 24 hours was 242. The future isn’t look great here.
Im actually going tornado chasing next year, weather permitting. Bought the radar software, downloaded the radar apps, cameras, etc. Myself and two others are going. We're gonna do several dry runs before we go, to familiarize ourselves with GPS and navigation. But, I can't wait to go. Ive been reading meteorlogy papers on storms and severe weather, like its the last information I'll ever read. 😂
@jpscientist23 Thank you so much! Do you happen to know when and where I can find season predictions for next year? When should I be looking for the predictions and where? Reed Timmer is someone I pay close attention to, as well as many others. Been drawn to severe weather my entire life. It's just so exhilarating! Good luck to you too!
Not worth, this is a game that dropped a EULA on $35. The cover my a$ agreements. Its not worth, only one live streamer atm on twitch. The whole support the dev one liner is getting very old. Its DOA
$35 for a niche early access game made by 2 developers. I wanna see you try and produce a game of this caliber and also already come out and say you’re working on performance day 1. Game is not DOA just because one person is streaming it… lol. twitch numbers do not matter
Why do you, my friend, think I'm so pissed at these sim devs using these poor encoders, but fine, being that you're a fan or a friend doesn't matter to me. You're here cause you saw this video, too. We are gamers, not dummies.
Wow, very cool idea for a game (CO-OP "TWISTER" WOO) but gee-whiz. Shitshow is being kind based off this video. Preset weather would be a HUGE no-no for a game like this, like you could almost stick enough mods on MSFS2020 and have a better version of this idea. Oh, yeah or ATS like you said. Good review Reg!
Cheers mate and yes, if the weather is preset then its dead on arrival. I'm only speculating of course, but it you are spawned in "randomly" and then eventually you respawn in the same spot on a different try, is the weather the same? Honestly hard to say this early on, but I would be curious what the devs say about it based on my footage. I'm honestly unsure this early on.
The weather in this game pretty much has to be presets, as each scenario is made by running an actual weather model on rented supercomputer power, simulating storms from real life events and then putting the generated data into the game. Thankfully they're gonna keep adding new scenarios with time by the looks of it!
Great explanation, thank you! I know they don’t have the same tech as say Microsoft Flight Simulator, but that’s a great example of how “randomised” weather can be on the fly. My assumption was something similar… my issue with presets is that you’ll always know what’s happening unless they have like 100 scenarios loaded in. Fingers crossed they really get there with the volume. Thanks again!
@@cockneygamer No worries! From what I've heard, they're going to keep making more and more scenarios and then shuffle them as they release updates, so that you'll rarely encounter the same one twice. Hopefully they improve the performance sooner though as that seems to be the biggest issue for a lot of players right now
In Reggie we trust, Reggie for Prime Minster or President or anything telling us all the truth as it is! Politics aside & as a billy no mate myself, I think the only twister I find playing this would be from KFC! yum 🌯 I like the concept of the game, shame that's where the good ends. 15 fps on a 4090, so about 1 fps on my 970 then! lol If Southgate did gaming this would prob be it lol. Think I'm gonna have to make games myself just need that elusive lotto win
it took 6 years to make, and Marc(the creator) was thinking of a game like this in 2016, you can have your own opinion, but this game is my favorite game I've ever played just SO FUN!!!
Several fanboys in the comments I see. I don't know what they see, but what I see is a load of garbage. The graphics are shameful to start with, the textures are shameful and I agree with all the points raised in the video. It could be a good game for sure, however at $35 price tag this game is going to be review bombed and then it will die. You can not price an early access game at a $35 price point when it looks like that, its just not good enough. Unfortunately its priced to fail and will join all the other abandoned early access titles. Advice - if you are not a graphic artist(and clearly the dev/devs are not) then hire one ffs!!! at least make it look decent while you iron out the programming side. If you cant afford to hire one, then maybe you did not have the budget to commence work on a $35 title in the first place - you cant just knock any old shite together in your bedroom and charge that sort of money. Period.
You missed the point entirely… I’m saying we understand the point of early access and that some are better than others. We don’t shit on them because they are bad products at launch. Likewise, there is an absolute shed load of early access games made by just one or two man teams… Braid. Phasmophobia. Stardew Valley. Bodycam. Vampire Survivors. There’s far too many to mention here… so the argument I’m seeing in defence of “well it’s early access and made just by two people so you’re being too harsh” doesn’t ring true and certainly doesn’t give them a rite of passage to charge you $35. As shown by all those other gaming examples of small teams or solo projects. Early access or not, this is a disgusting amount to charge for a game in this current state.
@@cockneygamer funny that you mentioned body cam. It’s a graphic blender with UE5 assets. Awful map design and boring gameplay, but enough for the TikTok generation. U don’t understand the meaning of EA. Some devs release nearly complete games in EA and guys like you think that’s the standard.
@@bwort007well that’s embarrassing for you… I reviewed Bodycam and didn’t give it a particularly good score for what it offered in its current state and the community weren’t too impressed with my review because they felt it deserved higher. All the points you just said come up in that very review. Maybe don’t make such sweeping statements about what you think people know or don’t know. ruclips.net/video/0_AueXwJzV4/видео.htmlsi=3Tc1Rjbd6xzxkCqa
The only real thing I don’t like about Outbrk is the price, $35 is too much for an early access game. I mean you could use that money and get Gmod, Half life 2 (and it’s add- ons) and chase tornados there, sure it may be a bit laggy essentially if you are using mods and custom vehicles but it is a good deal honestly. But I don’t hate this game I got a lot of hope for it, and the devs have already fixed and tweaked things. But yeah she is a bit laggy
This looks like an Indy project and a niche title, I don't know much about it other than seeing your vid just pop up but I can say this will probably appeal to fans of this type of thing. I agree with your price assessment and if this is indy as I suspect then 35 bucks is shooting pretty high in terms of indy titles which usually sit anywhere from 5 to 20 bucks depending on whats offered and early access on an indy is always sketchy especially if the dev has no previous titles. Always gotta wander if its a bait and switch grab cash and run type deal. The concept of this game is interesting but i wouldn't buy it definitely not at that price point.
You're completely right, it does really appeal to a lot of the fans around storm chasing. In fact, most people interested in this project has been keeping eyes on it for well over 6 years now. It just recently went live on Steam after being a Kickstarter project in the past. It's definitely an Indie project, given that it was only 2 people that worked on it, but the price is somewhat justified given the amount of money they spent just getting the storm system to be as detailed as it is currently. I mean, in one of Jeff Favignano's videos, one of the 2 developers had mentioned that they had to rent practically a super computer so they could run simulations of real-life storm events, transfer all that data into scenarios that the game can read and understand, and finally implement a way for the storms to still be varied, even under the same scenario. That way, wind speed is different, wind direction is different, but it can still have the same scenario. Each time you play, its still a different system, you have to forecast on the spot, and it truly is one of the most realistic storm chasing simulator/games you can find out there, the second being Twisted, which is (surprisingly) on Roblox, although they have started considering transferring to a different engine. Also, sorry I typed this much, I tend to go overboard on typing.
IT'S STILL IN EARLY ACCESS!! LIKE BUGS CAN HAPPEN AND WILL HAPPEN. YOU GET THAT WARNING AS SOON AS YOU ENTER THE GAME! I PLAYED THE GAME AND NO BUGS AT ALL EXPECT FOR SOME FLOATING ROADS! BUT THEY'RE GONNA FIX THAT! THEY'RE GONNA FIX ALL THE BUGS! SO STOP COMPLAINING! THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR 35$ DEAL WITH IT!
There are a LOT of early access games with one or two developers who achieve far greater polish in early access. Just to name a few: Stardew Valley. Phasmophobia. Bodycam. Braid. Minecraft. Papers please. The comment about triple A games wasn’t comparing studios, but rather saying we judge early access games like we do any other game because money exchanges hands. So just like we give bad scores to some early access games we also give good scores too. But the fact it’s a new studio, or made by just one or two people doesn’t give them a free pass, because as shown up top, loads of amazing games in early access in the same circumstance were brilliant (and much cheaper).
@chief308 to you maybe sir… but for many people $35 is a lot of money to support a project in its current state. I wouldn’t ever judge people for what they can or can’t afford in gaming. And you are spot on in saying that devs need their money… no question they should get paid. But you have to place this in the context of other early access games and look at the value on offer.
I know you won't come back when the game stabilizes and fully releases, but for someone who has been waiting for this for years, I am 100% okay giving the $35. A lot of the storm chasing games out there are more arcade style, where this is far more realistic in terms of scope. Is it perfect? No. Is it even great? No. But it is a start, and it is a start I want to support because I see what the devs have done and there is more momentum with this game than any of the others. Your review frustrates me to no end. Very shortsided, not looking at the bigger picture. This was just another "checkmark doing a review, bash a game. And it is clear you came in with the wrong mindset because you "bamble" (2:46) about. The game gives you more than enough tools to know where you need to go. Way more than more others games in the genre. I hate that this was the first review of the game and I hope I don't come across you again.
I had a fully fleshed out reply ready to go as much of what you say is wrong or misconstrued. But after reading your last sentence I realised that what you’re really after is an echo chamber. A place where fellow like minded individuals can vindicate the $35 they spent and wax lyrical. You should absolutely join the Outbrk Reddit for that copium or the official forums. I recommend avoiding the steam discussion boards though as you’ll get different opinions on there. For someone who has played countless simulators, I’ve become quite versed in what makes a great, good, average or downright awful one. In fact, here’s 14 of them which stand out: ruclips.net/video/Ru_Ucjqzj_k/видео.htmlsi=lzrCJ7-RiuK3_17a See you in 1.0! Cheers 🍻
Weather is recreation of real life events and each game is a random selection from the 2 or 3 storms they have. From my information... I've been very active watching this game progress
It's a simulator not a game. You need a decent knowledge of weather physics and storm anatomy to accomplish whatever in this game. It's as silly as knowing nothing about planes and complaining because pushing random buttons won't start a plane on flight simulator. This is an accurate supercell simulator meant for those who are nerd about storm chasing. Yeah there are bugs, but it's an early access. People are supposed to buy it it to support the devs, not to get the perfect game.
Yes. It's a simulator...and it's in early development. Does anyone remember what Flight Simulator used to look like on a Commodore 64 or an Apple II? Wireframe graphics and super slow frame rate...and very very sparse graphics. And I loved it! I got to fly a plane around Chicago and see the Sears tower...and learn how to land a plane. Outbrk is actually pretty good for just being released. I'm impressed.
@@cockneygamer I bought it nevertheless look it’s good but a lot of bad things I have really good specs and I’m still averaging 30 fps you should be able to make profit in offline private session but you can’t 🗿
It’s only because your scared of tornadoes otherwise if you were like me you would love this game
@@FarmerC21😂 this is the most true comment on here!
"In my first 100 minutes, I didn't come across one bloody tornado." We call that a bust. Welcome to the real world of storm chasing lol.
Hahaha, fair comment that!
Idk- I live in tornado alley and have generally learned how to read a radar for storm threats. I saw multiple tornados in my first hour. Complaints about optimization/lag is fair game, but the storm chasing it's self is fine.
A game is supposed to be fun, not repetitively boring.
I agree. It's early access for a reason. That's why there are four giant black screens of text when you start it up.
I really like the game, I like how you need real knowledge, the developers worked real hard and I appreciate their hard work.
@@sunnyjim1355 I never said the game is about it knowledge, I just like how you have to have knowledge to chase well
@@sunnyjim1355 unfortunately the real knowledge is watching storm chasing college courses on RUclips or actually storm chasing for years.
Cheers 🍻
@@cockneygamer Thanks man, no worries! Your video was shared to me so I had to watch, I laughed a few times. Will check out your channel for sure.
its essentially unplayable for me with the crap framerate and lagging. im going to ask for a refund until its fixed.
@jfavignano I will say being from Mississippi 2011 was a crazy time to start your chasing career.
This is defitnely good to read! I just purchased the game to help the devs further, I’m looking forward to the journey!
Outbrk still looks similar to the play test they did a couple years ago and it may actually look a bit worse. It’s like they haven’t made many differences from then to now.
Damn yea thats sad
It's exactly these critical reviews that are the reason it's Early Access, hopefully they fix a lot of the issues.
However, this game is really made for meteorologists or at least storm spotters, so it's going to be hard to get into it as it is for a niche community.
They are preset storms, there are 14 scenarios with them adding more in the future.
Yeah it's because they want them to work like real life they generate the preset threw an model but i hope maybe one day we can generate our own preset so we got random situation.
@@ThomasCoulais Yeah it whould be cool if you could choose a date of a certain location and get your own preset but I whouldent really know how they whould make that happen but yeah
here is some extra info/my 2 cents regarding certain things:
in total there are 15 scenarios, keep in mind the game was in development for 7 or so years. scenarios are made using WRF simulations, which you can run on your own computer.
The weather was fully created and simulated on what is essentially a supercomputer the dev had to rent (not cheap)
It was then translated using a custom made tool (by the dev) so it could run visually and within the engine.
FOR FREE.
OUTBRK was made by only 2 devs and they had to code an entirely new technology for the weather, refer to the comment by @assuming_one45.
I mean it is still in development. It's going to be like star citizen, constantly getting updates and stuff like that.
Nah twisted is not better the clouds look horrible tornados looks like pencil coming from the skies
and its on the roblox engine dont have to say anything more
give outbrk some time to fix the problems what is expected for a early acess game
A few things I’d add to this:
1) No one is ever owed or deserving of your money.
The concern of the 15 preset weather conditions though is a big surprise…
4) big isn’t always better if it’s bland.

"Billy Butcher reviews OUTBRK"
All jokes aside I completely agree, they should have kept working on the game for a few more months before release. This was the very first game I bought before waiting for reviews and I regret it, never making that mistake again. Hopefully this game pulls a no mans sky and fixes all the issues.
Don’t worry mate, we’ve all been there on early purchases! Hopefully they can get it up and running like you say. Cheers 🍻
Its not released tho.....they just put it in Early Access...that's not a full release that's just letting people play it before the final product which what a team of 2 developers is smart because there is no way they could playtest the thing to the extent a community could.
@MCG55SS agreed… but then price it appropriately
Most welcome mate, one to keep on the wish list and see how it progresses.
Just wasn’t what I expected but I’m hearing already the performance has improved a lot since this review so that’s good.
i wish they delayed the launch and improved the graphics much more for a bigger and more sucessful launch.
I have to say I’m a little concerned by the player count on Steam already. I really hope they got enough funds to improve and move forward, but my fear is this game might die an early death. Fingers crossed I’m proved wrong.
An Australian man cooking outbrk I love you
You have to hand it to the devs. One to two patches a day since release fixing/adding allot of things the community instantly notified them about.
I pulled this one off of my wishlist with your help. Thank you good sir! You saved me a headache. I was amazed at the price tag like everyone, but from what you showed, it wrapped things up. I'll be sticking with Storm Chasers.
this game is so much better than storm chasers
I've been waiting for this game for a few years, the second I saw $35 for a game that's early access from a studio that has never even released a game I was a little stunned, then the second I started watching gameplay I was extremely disappointed and wondered what the hell they've been doing for the last few years
Concept is really cool, but I’d say this is more than just rough at the moment. Hopefully they can get it up to scratch.
35 dollars isnt that bad since they said the price will never change
@@Spooky-d8p It's a bad price for how it is now, though.
@nerdjournal thank you for your comment!
Because its only early acess now, maybe it looks bad, but there will be updates guys and this game will be fire and dont say its a disappointment if its only on early acess.
i hope it comes on sale or something because it looks like it has potential but im not paying £30 for it right now
I am fan of these types of games and storm chasing not saying it’s the best $35 I spent but wasn’t bad I have hope that overtime it will get better
Still have hope for the future for sure, but for now it's back to Twisted lol.
i found 2 tornado's right away without a tutorial so apparently i understand something i never knew i did as far as the weather radar goes
good video mate, watched through the entire thing without boredom
Thank you mate, appreciate this and good feedback for me on future videos. Cheers 🍻
Like the hawk tuah girl 😭 earned a sub u funny asf and also I’m pissed that this game has vastly underperformed
Thank you mate and welcome to the gang! Appreciate you commenting too, cheers to you 🍻
I got baited by the upgrades shop thinking there was some progression but it's all just cosmetics for now. So I'll refund and wait a few years until there's more stuff to do especially because replaying the same storms is boring.
looks like a early 2000 game graphics wise... and then they manage to make it run like a 2000's game on a 90's pc.
😂
Thanks for the honest review! Their first mistake was not making this in UE5. It looks like 2007 crap! The main takeaway from the game is peoole want tornados in games!
That is a very nice Hard Drive you have there.
Brutal for that game to slow down a massive PC like that.
Admittedly I play 4k as I like all my recording’s done in that way. But even still, a game like this shouldn’t test my rig at all. Since starting the channel I’ve invested a lot into it to ensure some great gameplay clips and this game crushed it. As for my hard drive… it sure is good!
My AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT goes from 60 fps straight to 5 in this game.
you were on fire this time around mate, your joke about Gareth Southgate had me cracking up
Haha, thank you. I guess we pray for Sunday!
@@cockneygamer Its never coming home :D
What possibly made you buy and review this game? It made for great entertainment review wise though lol
Another great Reggie!! Keep it up son 🫡👍
Thank you and cheers to you!
This game has been in development for *7 YEARS*
Sorry, 8tb what storage?
Man I wanted to cover this game on my channel and perhaps stream it. But after watching Jeff, its just a whole lot of driving for very little action. Currently, Twisted is a better game since its free and you can get lots of good action and fun chasing. The performance of this game and lack of action does not make it worth it. This is a revisit in a year typa game, it feels dev released this waay too early.
I have to say mate, I have got more enjoyment from watching Jeff actually play the game than I did playing myself (he’s great entertainment). So for now it’s probably the best way!
@@cockneygamer 100% I wait for him to release his video after he does a stream (sort of highlights).
For the The traffic ai thing they said they will add than soon but the cop thing is absolutely absurd

I bought it and refunded😢. The performance was very poor even in medium settings. Don't get me wrong it has huge potential but right now tryoung to play with 15 fps for 35euros it's just annoying, I will buy again for sure in the future when the game is in a better shape.
I think everyone should wait till early access is over since one moderator said the game will be at the same price cause by then it will be worth it
we will have to buy it again??

Man, when I saw this I was hopeful because I love "bad" sims but this here? This is BAD bad.
Thanks for yet another banger of a review, mate
-$35 😆 great review, I also like the idea, hopefully some day it will be good, I really cant see it happening anytime soon though.
Yeah, the price and state of this game proper got my knickers in a twist too, Reggie. Spot on. 👍
25 or 20& would be reasonable but 35$?!?!? For the current state of the game is appalling
I can say i am really impressed with this game.
No match making, server ques are forever, offline is pointless. 50 cdn for this ea is atrocious. Great review though
love the content brother you’re hilarious😹😹😹
Thank you mate, appreciate it a lot!
That’s awesome! I have been chasing a couple years now and there is absolutely nothing like it! Good luck out there!
All i can say is the game still needs some work. Wait a little more until you buy this game.
The game is also in BETA
There are many great games in BETA…
@@cockneygamer I agree. But if a storm chaser wants a realistic weather model large scale game. This might be a good choice for them.

5:21 Hock Tuhk girl is wildddd

Period.
GMOD TORNADO ALLEY/TWISTER RP IS BETTER THAN THIS
Sucks to suck I guess.... game runs perfect on my BEAST PC and I am already crushing it.... will have some fun on live streams on twitch playing this
Comparison to BG3 EA …made my day. Are you drunk?
I keep getting kicked off online unfortunately
WAY better now
IT'S STILL IN EARLY ACCESS!!

Imagine trying to compare this to a AAA studio.
There are a LOT of early access games with one or two developers who achieve far greater polish in early access. Just to name a few:
Stardew Valley.
Phasmophobia.
Bodycam.
Braid.
@@cockneygamer I mean 35$ ain’t expensive. Devs Gotta make money somehow.
Probably stick to twisted on roblox for now
I know you won't come back when the game stabilizes and fully releases, but for someone who has been waiting for this for years, I am 100% okay giving the $35.
In fact, here’s 14 of them which stand out: ruclips.net/video/Ru_Ucjqzj_k/видео.htmlsi=lzrCJ7-RiuK3_17a

I know nothing about planes… but I’ve spent 400+ hours in Microsoft flight simulator? So I’m not sure that holds true.
“Early access” the game has been in development for 8 years
