      RJ - you have a fair few modified tools, a compendium video showing them all off could be quite interesting for us viewers!

    for anyone wondering, Slickoleum will work on any fork. SRAM Butter, Judy Butter and SlickHoney are all just rebranded Slickoleum sold at a premium price. Get Slickoleum don't spend extra for the same exact thing. Slickoleum is half the price of SRAM Butter.

    Hi RJ, now I see why 1/4 extension bars don't work. It works on some other low-end forks. Thanks.

    I will service my forks the same way, I will start by making the tool, then ordering that special tool and finally finding the right grease, thank you for the tutorial.

    How do you get the spring back In when there is tension on it?

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
      @RJTheBikeGuy  Год назад +1

      I had no problems. Wasn't that much tension when I started screwing in the cap.

    Wouldn't it make sense to put in some new springs? The old ones are probably worn out a bit?

    Hi RJ. I've been watching all your videos. Good stuff! I can't find any info on the rst ct-com1-t4 fork. I'd like to disassemble, clean and reassemble. The bottoms of the forks come to a closed taper, no bolts or nuts. Do you have any info you'd like to share with me? Sure would appreciate it. Thank You!

    I find the sound of the bolts that hold on the lowers breaking loose so rewarding, and I wasn't the one servicing the fork. 😄

    Thank you for another great video. Any suggestions for servicing Zokes ChooWha Suspension Forks that were on a REI, Novara brand, Bonanza hardtail from 2001?

    Hi RJ. I am a fan. Really like the way you handle bikes and the videos with detailed explanations and addressing issues with much ingenuity…! One answer to a problem I could not find anywhere online, and I am sure you are the guy to address, is how to remove SR Suntour forks caps AFTER one ruined the cap teeth that engage the tool. I have 2 of those which I really hate to throw away but cannot remove the caps.

      Pliers. Knipex Cobra type water pipe pliers would be ideal

    Does that type of fork really need the boots and is this the method for all those types of forks?
    Can bearing grease be used?

    • @grooveseeker6269
      @grooveseeker6269 Год назад

      Hello! In my opinion you don't NEED the boots, but even though they're ugly, they do a very good job making sure no dirt gets stuck in the uppers which leads to a more mantenaince free and more durable fork

    Thanks for the well informative videos gramps.
    I have a question in mind though, how much would such a bike cost over there in the states? In other words, are bikes there so expensive that it's economically viable to restore these bikes?
    Here in Germany almost no bike mechanic would perform a restoration on this bike.
    Even garage hobbyists wouldn't, because the parts are too expensive and you'd end up with a bike that's still much cheaper than the parts and labor.
    I've done it a few times and I despite using used parts and not counting my manual labor I barely made it worth the effort (of course it's my hobby so I had fun restoring them, plus I had my fair share of fun with the bikes before selling them).

    • @mattgies
      @mattgies Год назад +2

      Yeah, as a mechanic I wouldn't bother servicing such a low-end fork unless the customer insisted on it. Just not worth the time/money.

    I am ready to rebuild my first SR Suntour XCR air fork, as the foam rings have just arrived. So far I only dealt with servicing Manitou stuff.
