    Hey Pete, great video! By far the highest quality one I’ve found showing the rebuild of a suntour raidon. Something else I could use help with is adjusting the travel on my raidon, and I’d love to see a video on how to do it!

      @BMXPete  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the feed back. I will look into doing a travel change on one of these. No parts are needed to increase the travel. Just let the air of the fork. Take the lowers off just like the oils change. Then push the air shaft out through the top. There will be some 3/4 circular plastic clips on the lower shaft. Remove the clips and shaft can now slide further through the bottom increasing trace.

    Hey man had a quick question here, how do you call the screw with the red cap cause i recently bought a bike wich has a raidon 34 but a missing screw with the red cap

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  Год назад +2

      The red cap is the Rebound adjust knob. You can use 3 mm Allen wrench to make the adjustment. Or these are available on SRSuntour’s website.

    Hi! I followed everything, but when i've put it all back together, the lockout wouldn't lock anymore. Any idea what i have might missed?

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately, it’s probably not something you missed. The lockout on these forks is a hydraulic damper. It was probably not working before you took it apart. You will need to replace the damper as it a sealed unit.
      There is a small chance your knob isn’t turning the the adjustment underneath. I would try to manually turn it and see if the fork firms up. If not you will need a new damper.

      @@BMXPete sorry. Im 100% sure lock was working before, i only took it apart for this cleaning and relubing purpose..

      @@BMXPete how do you manually turn the knob?

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  Год назад

      Ok, I think we can fix those you will need to remove the blue cap. Twist the knurled black piece clock wise until you notice the for locking out. Then put the blue knob back on and turn it to open. You my need to fine tune it, but this should get you in the right spot

    How’s the reliability on the fork? Thanks for the vid!

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  9 месяцев назад +2

      These forks are super reliable. The only issue I have noticed with this model and forks of the same generation. Once it gets around freezing cold outside the the dampers feel stiffer. Other than that they can take a pounding

    Hey pete,love the video brother. I have some Raidon 32s that I'm about to rebuild and video was a big help. Have a question for ya though. When I put my lowers back on does it matter whether I put air in the uppers before? Also I have this psi chart from suntour that says for my weight 160 lbs. I should run 65to 75 psi. I ran that and it feels way to soft. I know I can run up to 145psi I believe. But does that seem right. Any help is appreciated and love your channel buddy. Keep em coming. #oldskoolforlife

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  Год назад +1

      Yes, you want to have a some air in the upper and turn the compression all the way to locked out when putting the lowers on. When I set up the air pressure in my fork I found the listed pressure was fine until I took some drops and if I put more air in it was way too stiff on the small bumps. I added 2 tokens and run about 62 psi I think. I weigh 150 to 155 lbs. I think the tokens really made a difference in this fork’s performance. They seem to have very little progression without any tokens for some reason.

    • @DnL703
      @DnL703 Год назад +1

      @@BMXPete Thanks brother. I weigh the same and been running around 70 psi. Am gonna try those though. Hey not to bother ya again,but this remote lockout on these raidons were driving me nuts. Or the lever I guess I should say. Was just to much mess on my bars. Anyway I unhooked it. Took cable off n put cap back on and taped up the hole where cable went. Seems to not have affected anything and I don't use the lockout anyway. Could I ruin anything be riding with it this way??? Thanks again and hey, are they having an enduro series down your way again this year? It's the only enduro series close to me that has a Hardtail Class. We have a Funduro Series again this year in Ohio. They added a new race to the schedule. Camp Tuscazoar. 4000 acres of killer tech. and Flow. If ya decide sometime that you'd wanna get up this way and check it out or some other places hit me up. Got a big place with just me n my girl so have plenty of extra room for crashing out. Doors always open. Take care my dude and have great day. Sunny n beautiful out here. Right On.

    I just serviced my lowers and replaced the deals using the Raidon 34 rebuild kit, and man I cannot get the new seals to sit flush. They're sitting up a few MM probably, even if i HAMMER on them repeatedly, they wont go much further in. Brutal. Do you know if its a huge concern if the new seals aren't sitting super flush? Will they get packed in over time as I ride?

    • @BMXPete
      @BMXPete  7 месяцев назад

      I am not sure why that is happening. The only thing that should be sticking up is the collar with the spring around it. Did you use a seal press tool to hammer it in? If so, I would check that there isn’t something stuck underneath it from the old seals.

    • @FreshwaterFloof
      @FreshwaterFloof 6 месяцев назад

      @@BMXPete Yeah, its odd, I think maybe the shop gave me a slightly too large seal, or Its because my hammering wasnt onto a surface just in my hand, easier on a table.

      This depends on if it rotates and doesn’t loosen. If it does I would remove the air spring and see if I could stop it from turn on the top.
      If it’s just stuck. I would try to heat just the head of bolt and see if could move. If it breaks off you will most likely need to replace the air spring to repair it and a new bolt of course. Most small parts are available on SRSuntours website.

      @BMXPete  Месяц назад

      Your damper is probably blow if it’s not working. If you can turn the knob all the way each direction and get not change is rebound speed. I would recommend that buy a new damper off of SRSuntour website and stick it in there. They are sealed units that can’t be rebuilt.
