    I recommend a salad spinner with fine holes! It's such a great tool to help clean your sprouts while also separating the bad seeds/husks, and then also drying your spouts in a matter of seconds.

      Don't forget to: turn off social media ALL OF THEM !!!except RUclips!!!
      Forget about the news, tv, papers, magazines, and the alerts you get on your phone
      Find a podcast or audible book while doing choirs or when you crave the news
      Grab a great book to keep you company while your friends post selfies or dance moves or how great their relationships are (all bs anyways)
      There! And just like that, life is beautiful again ❤

    Nice video, just want to add a few tips.....putting sprouts in the freezer doubles the sulforaphane content and should be eaten in a week or so. soaking the sprouts in 150 degree water for approx 10 minutes ( not boiling ) before eating greatly increases the sulforaphane and having some brown mustard powder with your sprouts also increases its absorption......just some things I learned and heard from other growers...

    • @lalareal180
      @lalareal180 2 года назад +14

      So which is it>? all three? or one of these options? Just freeze? Or 150 degree water? How do you maintain that temp> like easiest way? And why do you have to eat them in a week? That means you have to constantly be making them , instead of making many and freezing them, as Dr Rhonda Patrick recommends eating 2-4 ounces of it a day. How can you finish that many in 1 week. Yall make it so confusing!

    I bought all of the stuff you recommended, and four days ago I began the journey. It was very easy to do, but I couldn't wait for the final result, and today, the Big Day finally came. After I thoroughly rinsed the sprouts, I gave them a dunk in a large mixing bowl of water to remove all the husks. After draining them in a colander, I took my very first, tenative taste. They had a mildly "peppery" flavor to them, but SO MUCH more flavorful and delicious than my usual alfalfa sprouts that I had usually bought at the grocery store. I put a little of my Roasted Sesame Seed dressing over them, then I literally DEVOURED all of them in only seconds. I only wish I'd made more!! Thanks for the great tips, and I plan to enjoy these sprouts as a valuable addition to my diet for a long, long time:)
    P.S. I just noticed that I was using the usual 1-quart sized Mason jars, but you were using the half-gallon sized ones, another great idea! The 32-ounce jars just didn't make enough spouts for me, so I just ordered the 64-ounce ones online, and can't wait to get them.

    Really great video! Here's my experience so far. I'm on my 3rd batch of different types (bought a huge variety pack of organic seeds to start) and just discovered that 3 Tbsp of seeds is the right amount as he said. Amz also has the jars that have the metal strainer in the plastic lid with legs and a draining tray for each with a dark sleeve that I cover the jars with for the 1st few days. The last day, I bring them out into indirect light and green up the little leaves. I 1st soak the seeds and the final sprouts in lightly acidulated (pop of lemon juice, vinegar or I use food-grade citric acid) water to keep them clean and bacteria-free. As I'm using organic seeds, I don't use chemicals to clean the jars and strainers. Hot water and a good organic soap work well with an air-dry. Lastly, I only use filtered water to rinse the seeds and sprouts. So far, I'm thrilled with the results of my sprout-making endeavors.

    Please do remember that sterilization of your jars and lids is most important in between sprouting sessions. Bleachy water in a mister works well. Leave it to dry for 5+ minutes and then rinse. Then you can fill the jar with your sprouts and water again. I’ve sprouted for two years. I used to have stinky sprouts. The dishwasher doesn’t work. The microwave doesn’t work. Bleachy water does. (Just wear a white t-shirt when harvesting your sprouts and preparing your jars/lids for the next session.). Oh. And “clunk” the base of each jar on a soft towel after draining your sprouts. It will “pop” the detritus out of your lid holes back into the jar. Minimizes clean up of the jar later on and improves the drain time in each rinsing session.

      Or just do a simple hot white vinegar water soak. People don't follow the directions for disinfecting with bleach. It's a cap per gallon but ppl think it only works if you can smell the bleach. Not following the directions can do the opposite of disinfect 😭

      Would vinegar be good

    • @wonderfulgood2010
      @wonderfulgood2010 2 года назад +5

      @@_einodmilvado It can be. It just depends on what flora is growing in your jars along with the sprouts. I grow my sprouts in a kitchen in Lancaster, PA in farm country. With all the fruits and vegetables coming into our kitchen, we have all sorts of flora to deal with. The vinegar does kill some of them. Heat kills some of them. Giving the jars a few days to be dry and unused can help prevent nasty sprouts. But if I want to guarantee good sprouts in all my jars every time? I have to use a bleach solution. (I try to recycle my bleach and spray it later on the house mold that grows on the North side of my house in the Fall-Spring, but that's another story.). Try the vinegar. Try hot water. Try the resting method. Maybe those singularly or in combo will work for you. If not, then perhaps bleach is necessary for you as well?

    Great video. Did I miss where you say how many times to rinse them per day during the next 5-6 days after the initial 4 hrs of soaking them? And do I leave them on an angle the next 5-6 days while they sprout? Or after yhe 1st 4 hrs of soaking them is that the only time i need to soak and rinse them?
    Thankyou!

    Hello, I like your method. Not so complicated for a newbie. I notice that you use tab water. Is your water treated to remove chlorine and other chemicals?

    Keep them in the dark. As they green, SF lessens. Do 5 days in the dark and freeze to heighten SF. 😊

    3 tablespoons will give you about a pound of sprouts? Wow, amazing.

    Do you know if it is safe to just eat the black broccoli husks (since it's so hard to remove all of them)? Is husk/hull the same as a seed? I'm seeing conflicting results from Google about this (e.g. hulls are okay but erucic acid and seeds are bad)?

    What do you put in your smoothie, besides the broccoli sprouts?

    According to dr. Jed Fahey, Broccoli Rabe which you are using to sprout, have no relation to broccoli. It's more closely related to turnip and have no sulforaphane to speak of.
