Yeezus is basically Kanye making a caricature of himself. He’s saying “I will disrespect everything i’ve built till now just for my art and everyone will eat it up and treat me like a god because i’m that loved.” Even Bound 2 is basically a tongue in cheek song making fun of his sample chops earlier in his career, complete with a wink to the listener during the Jerome line where he’s hinting at this whole album almost being an act
it is genius because people take it at face value and assume this entire work is entirely brash but it’s a self aware album and he is commenting on his self image from a place of satire but it’s so good that people will fall for the tricks
This theory is not true but interesting none the less. Yeezus was a quality album that definitely went against the grain on purpose but he didn’t assume everyone would eat it up. You should look into some of the RUclips documentary’s on Yeezus to gain an understanding of this classic.
I definitely think he rebelled against his past sound and there are elements of satire but this album expresses a lot of his frustrations with the fashion industry due to the lack of acceptance and belief.
Daft Punk, Rick Rubin, Gessafelstein, Mike Dean (just to name a few) helped Kanye achieve a new fresh electronic/industrial sound that would go on to influence hip hop TO THIS DAY.
Do not undermine the musicality and genius of this album my friend.

I remember when this album came out almost everyone considered it trash, it’s actually insane how music has changed in the last decade. It’s a masterpiece and goes so insanely hard and so creative and original and rebellious and just sick in 2021 but not in 2012

Album was like a 5/10 for me when I first listened. Two years later and it's my favorite Kanye album in terms of production. Damn near perfect.
