some fun facts about discovery: The person singing on One More Time and Too Long is Romanthony, a person they shoutout on Teachers in Homework! ("Romanthony in the house") During the making of Face to Face, Todd Edwards (the singer on the song) was stated to say that they used up to 70+ samples to create the song, the chorus consisting of 10+ samples. To this day there are still people finding out new layers of samples on the song Discovery also has its own movie! Interstella 5555 was an anime from Toei Animations, great watch, even contextualizes each song, especially Something About Us Something About Us is one of Frank Ocean's favorite songs
Face to Face only used 20 samples. The 70 number that Edwards gave was referring to the samples they gathered and not the ones that were actually used.

Every time I listen to digital love, i still get blown away at how perfect of a song it is. In my opinion, it is the song that most perfectly embodies what Daft Punk is.
daft punk are the first people that got into music as a whole when i was like 7 year old, to me this album is like perfect, such a classic, from the sampling to the vibe etc... it just doesn't age it seems
French man of 32 here. I grew up with this album. Still listen to it a couple of times in the year. It never gets old, it's insane. It's the embodiement of good times, music, love, happiness and overall fun.
My boys used to fuck with me back in the day when they first showed me this album as kids. They said the kick drum in Veridis Quo started right at the beginning of the song...I sat there like a dumbass with my ear pressed against the speaker so many times...also Veridis Quo - Very Disco - Disco Very - Discovery
Goat reactor. Goat reaction to a classic album. Just go in order with the Daft Punk discography whenever you have time to do the next one. Appreciate you man.
Bro, you might as well do the next two albums to complete their discography. Human after all is alright. And Random Access Memories is absolutely amazing, in terms of instruments.
@@tadknuf7979 eh… Its okay. Despite having the words “Human” in the title, it feels devoid of any emotion that any Daft Punk album that came before or after. Ironically, it feels really cold and metallic.
@@LKsai4D4 i can see why someone would listen to the album and feel that way, but personally I think that's the point of the album. No matter how robotic it may seem, they are human after all. The name and sounds contrast each other. I also think a lot of the songs do have emotion, I mean the final track is even called emotion and while yes it's very robotic in sound, it still has a certain feeling to it, like a robot experiencing emotion. Other tracks like brainwasher or prime time of your life encapsulate the feeling of pure rage, and then you have a beautiful somber track like make love in there too. I don't blame you for having this outlook on the project, but I encourage you to revisit it with a fresh mind and you might enjoy it more, or maybe not.
@@tadknuf7979 Honestly I see all your points but to me HAA is just a lot of missed potential. The overall rugged and raw robotic sound is great and fits well into DP's catalogue where every album has a completely different feel to it, and some tracks truly are great like emotion and human after all, but most tracks are just really really great ideas which havent been fleshed out enough at all, like steam machine, the brainwasher, or prime time of your life. It's just the same thing over and over and not in a groovy way like homework did (although some songs on there also suffer from that problem). This might add to robotic-yet-human atmosphere you describe, but musically, these songs could have been so much more. Worst offender is make love, I absolutely love the sound it has, but it's really just a 30 sec loop repeated for 5 minutes. I still do listen to it sometimes because it truly gives off a special vibe but if they had made it into a proper, more diverse track it could have been along their best songs. Same with most other songs on the album. So yeah kinda a shame but I can appreciate what they were going for and still think with all its flaws HAA is still a good album and worth a listen as a whole, they should have definitely taken their time on it.

If you think this was a step up from Homework, Random Access Memories is an even further step up. It’s probably the best produced album I’ve ever heard
I just saw one of his videos that was posted about 2-3 years years ago. It was a review about the album starboy by the weekend, I feel that he didn’t realized at that moment that the weekend collaborated two songs with Daft punk.
Your summary after the very first song is perfect. To me, Daft Punk is an explosion of pure happiness. Human meets computer meets my 1970's and 1980's Saturday morning cartoons childhood. It's so sad and depressing that there are so few Daft Punk reactions, but even if there were a million this reaction would still be as crazy fantastic as it is. Thank you so much. 👍
You should listen to their live album ‘Alive 2007’ even if it’s not for a video, the remix their best songs to that date and add whole new layers! Plus the crowd cheering along gives it more hype! Great video!
