But if u get them from a local shop then u have to use 2 keys ? one to see😮star the truck and other to open the truck or are u able to use the same key ?
@@abrahamautofix3069 or get an uncoded cylinder, go to GM dealer with owner's registration and DL, they will give you the combo, you can encode the cylinder to fit your key.
Don't get me wrong, because I'm thankful for the information. But that information could have been delivered in 30 seconds and then it might not have been the most painful thing I've ever had to listen to In My Life.
Around 5:20 he begins talking about the actual problem where you can't turn the cylinder even with the key, or rather he talked a bunch. Bunch but at this time he is pointing to the actual element on the cylinder which you have to manipulate with your pic or shim or dental flosser to push inwards at the same time that you turn the cylinder, presumably with the key in it, but perhaps with any key or a screwdriver. Now I will finish watching, but already from another video I learned that I need a certain sort of bendy pic thing to push the tab of metal in. So I will go get that and then come back and try and complete this. But for the first 5 minutes you could probably just skip or fast forward. Edits: 1) the shim must be quite strong and stiff. I sacrificed a dinner fork and the tine was strong enough, but many lesser metal or plastic strips failed. 2) other advice I'm going to try: turn key to On or is it Run, put in D, this will lock out starter motor and then you can turn key to Start and it won't start while you remove cylinder.
@@abrahamautofix3069 brother I'm just hacking on ya as in joking with you is all don't take it personally I like to have fun with people is all I got a lot of information from your channel thanks 👍
Yeah dude thanks for saying to put it in the ON position instead of RUN position and now my damn key came out in the on position and cylinder is now locked in off position unable to remove and unable to start truck to go to work Don't make a video unless you can give proper direction because mine was turning and if you would have stated the RUN position I wouldn't be in this position!
Drill a small hole in the cylinder housing, about 90degrees counter clockwise of where the release hole is, use a pin the same as you would int the release hole, it will become free
So, all you have to do is line up the thing with the other thing and then you can move the thing into the thing.
Total clarity 😜
yeah, I'm glad I seen this video. So other just say put the pin in hole and it pops right out, and it doesn't come out. Thank for showing this.😃
Great video, explained very well, better then the other videos i watched

Makes no sense. What if the keys are lost? How are you going to replace the key cylender when it requires it to be on the on position to be removed?
You can do it with the drill my friend
The thing is that if could be shorter

What if you dont have the key to turn the ignition
You will need the key to put it on the right position to press the lock and than remove the cylinder, thank you

Too much talk
Would be and than,, better to just watch and than, not say a word and than. If you And than don't talk it would be much better and than
Maybe do the work on camera, quietly, then later do a voice-over.
