yo yall have to buld the "Fenrir,, based on the game 'ace combat x' from psp. a three engine sleek futuristic airplane tha'd be a plane for yall to build. btw let this make comment of the day
You guys should build a "Speedtest-Shed". Just a wooden box on wheels with a hole for the Radar Gun so that Stephen does not have to risk his beautiful hair when you do speed challenges.
Have you ever considered building a powered glider that can eject the power pack on a parachute to shed weight before gliding back to the ground? That would make an awesome build kit.
Just got home from emergency surgery so it's a flute test marathon! This video almost made me bust a stich, literally! Stephen, absolutely hilarious! Thanks guys
Thank you for sharing. I built many corrugated plastic aircraft with proper airfoil. My suggestion is a delta wing shape with a single vertical fin as oppose to twin fins. The delta wing with tapered chords and single verticals fin and narrow cigar shape fuselage will reduce the drag factor significantly. My 2 cents.
that's some crazy speed on a budget. I've been experimenting with using a monokote iron to flatten the edges of foamboard, it kinda melts and squishes a bit if you get the temp right and i think you can make a more aerodynamic plane out of it for some high speed runs like this...
@@aaaaaaaaaassssssssdf Yup! And it's my personal mission to find a way to hit 200 mph with foamboard. So far I have burned up a lot of motors, escs, servos, etc. Some crazy stuff, and the power systems are getting progressively more expensive. Spending $135 on a prop and then losing it in a midair was particularly painful!
No the spoons dont do anything structural, they are acting as air scoops to promote better airflow to the prop by decreasing the turbulence in front of the prop + bonus airflow with the coanda effect.
@@EuanTodd Hmmm, not quite. From what they're saying in the video, it's more to keep air flowing over the *motor*, to keep it from overheating. The net effect on the prop will actually be a negative one as it will create a bit more turbulence through the blade disc, though the tradeoff is clearly worth it given they didn't fry a second motor. Coanda effect would be if, instead of the spoons, they'd just smoothed the rear fuselage gradually down to a smaller diameter, which the air would then follow.
@@azgarogly I mean the first part was how I interpreted why they added the spoons (the less turbulence infront of the prop the more thrust and the less the motor has to work) + the bonus bit was preety much just reference to tom Stanton who just made a quadcopter that uses the effect.

so first great job. i found that most motor wires are kinked and crap from overseas. that said i went to radio shack and bought some new magnetic motor wire and rewired my motor and it was so much better it had much better efficiency and alot more power and speed! i recommend you don't throw away your burnt motors just rewire them. maybe do a new video showing others how to do this and not only save a ton of cash and time but have a much more capable and dependable motor! thanks for all you guys do your still inspiring!

Wondering if you guys would ever think about putting inspirational quotes on your walls!? Maybe your personal ones? So it adds flair and fills the emptiness, haha 😎 keep doing what your doing!

This is great, Im doing a FT spitfire 1080mm build and putting twin 2212 2200kv motors on it.id love to see you guys build a twin engine warbird.my brother has been telling me how his drone is so fast looking at 40mph flybys so I was hoping to get my build into the 80-100 mph range but I’m not the best at estimating how fast a certain planes limitations are, I find out the physical way

I just found your channel....wow! I would describe your whole team and flight/video skills as a "brilliant riot". What strikes me is that I've been into R/C planes since the early 1970s (yes, I can't believe I'm that old either...). Back then - everything was gas, and very expensive. Now with electric power and foam materials (vs balsa) it's incredible what you guys are doing. I've been on R/C hiatus for like 10 years now - but you guys are inspiring me to get back into it. Two suggestions. Play angry birds rc. You already have the pig model, so all you have to do is make some inexpensive planes, paint them like birds, build some foam board blocks to stack around the pigs and kamikaze baby. Second, do a DC-3 model.
You know, like those tracking Base Stations for fpv - Why not build one, in order to track the airiel vehicle with the Speed Gun. No more endangering people, or does Stephan not count as one 🤣❤️ ..
If that's the 4.1x4.1 APC prop like I picked on my Nano Goblin, it's going to stall and only produce something like a third of the thrust until you get it up to ~30-40km/h after which it gets a grip and rockets away!
Awesome videos guys!!! I look forwards and I each one!! Need any ideas for vids? Build the X-02 Wyvern from Ace Combat 04!! It’s a sweet plane with cool switchblade wings.
They have been hinting on the new foamboard for a while, like they are going to have different thicknessess. I've also heard a rumor that it's going to be white, but it's the first time I've seen it :)
You ever thought of a speed-trap? Take two track-frames like they use it in the DRL hook them with optical sensors. The first break starts a timer, the second stops it. With the distance between the two frames, and the time between the breaks you can measure speed much safer and more accurate. Not to mention that visitors could also rate their contraptions with it.
*I have an idea! Please here me out* Set up three teams of builders. Team one builds the front of the plane. Team two builds the middle and team three the back.
