I grew up in the 90's dreaming of owning an M5. Today I'm a proud owner of a F10 535i which I got 0KM. Couldn't be happier especially with all the tunes I've done, and it makes me want to work up to M5 even more.
Been a while with Bimmers from the '91 318i E30 M40 then the '97 323i E36 M50 and '03 325i E46 M54 couple with '97 528i E39 M50 and now owning a '15 320i F30 Sport
Wrenching 'em all myself except for the heavy works like engine and tranny overhauling, that's for the workshop
Fellow f10 535i owner here also. Trying to get a pure turbo stage 2 and push this baby to 600whp. I’m gonna be faster than an m5 without owning an m5 hopefully lol

I know 5 persons here that have E92 M3 and E46 M3 but you can find several F80 M3 and F82 M4
Been driving 'em all and to be honest the NA engines of the old M3s are better preferably the V10 in the E92 M3
All I can do is just copying the bodykits of those M Cars into my standard Bimmers and upgraded the in car entertainment, no crazy modified engines - all standards and I'm quite happy with the outcome
I just got a F10 535xi as a daily, but have had my F10 M5 for 3 years. I'll just say, it's nice having both.
Thomas does get very excited about his BMWs But when they’re this good who could blame him?! Looks amazing
Are you guys able to do tuned cars at all? Or reviews of “most bang for your buck” tunable cars? I’d love to see Thomas drive a tuned car around the track.
They have done tuned cars a few times before, I don't remember which ones though. I think one video was like Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy and they were all tuned but I may be wrong
They try to get cars that are the most stock they can find.

FYI, at the time Thomas had a problem drifting the M5 that same model held the world's record for longest continuous drift. 🤷♂️
I think thomas's point is that the m5 comp is a very capable car, it's just not as controllable hence not very enjoyable to drive like the m5cs does.
@@john24689 The world's record continuous drift was so long that they had to drift another M5 next to it to refuel it mid drift. Now I'm no expert, but that would seem to indicate a pretty extreme level of "control". 🤷♂️

It's clear that Thomas favors this way more than the Audi and Benz. The fact that he was so enamored with the drive that he didn't even pay attention to James' question tells you all you need to know about his opinion lol.

Crazy to think you can get this same body vehicle for about 40k in a base model 5 series.
Keep in mind that the CS is only being produced for one model year. Low production numbers means higher price and slower depreciation.

M2 competition is a really good car but u can't compare it to m5cs to much of a price difference

Sir, I am in a market for a new sports sedan, and the New M3/M4 falls in my price range and performance. However I can't seem to bring myself to like the new face. I guess I have 2 questions, 1. Does that oversized kidney grill enhance the performance? 2. Could there be a potential update to the face, perhaps I could wait a little longer for an updated version? Thank you for your time.

It finally clicked for me. I realized that this channel is basically everything I wanted The Straight Pipes to be. I stopped watching them because everything was "Really Good" or "gloss black" bleh. You guys actually describe the driving dynamics and have some technical knowledge about the cars you drive, but you keep it casual in the Extra channel. Your conversations feel less forced and you guys make me laugh a lot. I can get my top gear feeling from the main channel and the layed back friends talking about cars in this channel. You guys really do a stupendous job and it makes me feel bad that I can watch it for free (I always sit through the ads for you guys).
True. Straight Pipes started strong, but it's hard to stand Jakub for more than a couple of minutes these days.
Very true. Straight pipes started out great. But they use the same formula on every video and they have gone stale
That's why I stick to Throttle House and savagegeese, I used to watch Straight Pipes a lot, but they play it too safe with everything being "really good".
Straight pipes is a no go. They don’t know what they are talking about a lot of the time. Their driving skill and knowledge is lacking. Along with other reasons. I also was just thinking wow TT is so much better than Straight pipes.

What I found amazing was that after the red eye got traction, the M5cs continued to pull away. That’s a fast car. How about against a corvette and Porsche etc. Looking forward to seeing it

The Redeye didn't get traction... the Redeye holds the 1/4 mile record for fastest gasoline sedan in the world.... it did 10.13s.
The Redeye is just not fast on the street it was made for the drag strip only.. it was also beaten by E63s wagon on RWD .

The CS has the dampers of the M8, stiffer engine mounting and also sits lower as far as I know
M8 is 'a fast Buick' in Cammisa's words. Which means same as M5 Comp; overinsulated performance machine. They did something smart to M5 CS. Bravo.
The facelift M5 Competition also has the M8 dampers.
the CS sits 7mm lower than the BASE M5, same dampers in CS and M5C lci..
I have a 2019 M5 (not Comp or CS) and I'm scared to turn off the driver assist--it revs scary high even at low speeds, growling like a bad-tempered Rottweiler trying to shake off the leash.

@@henzo7087 you couldn't of owned any past thier warranty then. I have 3 at moment also. E70 x5m e60 m5 and e46 zhp. All awsome vehicles. Love them but the e46 has the other 2 beat for reliability and my neighbors 20yr old camery has all 3 beat for reliability, by a long shot.

Never buy a daily driver with so much power.
Obviously a great car on it performance merits, that said BMW makes crap, they are literally designed to fail in 5 years or less. SO, if your rich and can unload this unreliable bucket in 2 to 3 years then your good. Of course the resale prices on BMW cars are horrible BECAUSE every gear head knows their reputation. The BMW Reliability Rating is 2.5 out of 5.0, which ranks it 30th out of 32 for all car brands. Also there's a 15% probability of the repair being severe and costly.
Thought I'd inject some reality over a subject Throttle House rarely addresses.
It's like $150k, so "if you're rich" is already known.

It sounds great but there is no way I would get C$170,000 of enjoyment out of it. That’s before even dealing with the reliability issues that will come.
Cheaper than a Lamborghini, which the m5 is quicker than. It’s faster than 99.9 percent of cars and looks so good. Not to mention it’s more reliable than anything Italian that you would buy for more anyway
If you can afford a 170k car you can afford the maintenance. That’s like buying a Bugatti and being mad you have to spend 40k on new tires every few months even when you don’t drive it

First Gear that’s why they always resort to stereotypes. The F gen 428i for instance had a 4.5/5 in reliability so that doesn’t seem unreliable to me..
The interior just looks like a Twitch streamer's set up to me. The boy racer look is just a bit much. Porsche interiors are the perfect example of sportiness while still showing restraint. This is just a bit much. Everything else is awesome.
I say this as someone that could never afford one so my opinion doesn't matter, but just saying.
they’re proper bolsters. porsches are nice but lean towards luxury in my option besides the alcantara ones such as the gt3s
I saw an M8 in this color and trim in a parking lot recently; drop-dead gorgeous.
The backseat camera tells two stories. The carbon seatbacks are beautiful and the big screen tv mounted on the dash is offensive.

While the M5 competition was already the super sedan king, this CS model just solidifies that position even more.
This is the most desired m5 ever after the legendary e60 v10, the cs trim is really put out the engineers first before the accounting put the price tag on

From an AMG fan, M5 CS is the undisputed Super Sedan king. At least until AMG introduces the E73/ AMG GT73.

I don't like the interior, or the way it sounds. Every car with a screen attached like it's an aftermarket tablet is automatically excluded from the list of good interiors. If they can't implement it properly they should just take it off. Digital dash also look lame. That's my review. ( :

have had mulitple BMW's and they always end up in the shop. Have had fewer reliability issues with Mercedes

Ceramic brakes callipers for m5 were never red in colour...they were always available in gold colour only...red, blue, black callipers were the normal one

Not the biggest fan of bmw but they are known to give their car more power than stated. This car have about 700hp it will beat the ct5 v black wing in a straight line , not sure on a track
