- The 2025 BMW M4 CS ($150,000 starting in Canada, $123,500 starting in the US) is a lighter and more powerful version of the already-rapid BMW M4. It has a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-6 engine that makes 543 horsepower, and has a claimed 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds. To live up to its CS namesake, the M4 CS boasts some performance enhancing goodies. This includes the use of lightweight materials, specific chassis and suspension tuning, exclusive CS wheels and several other changes. But does it live up to its hefty six-figure price tag? Hey, just to clarify, this video shows that the M4 CS has 650 lb-ft of torque. That is incorrect. it has 650 NM of torque. The lb-ft measurement is 479 for this car. Apologies! P.S. the world needs to agree on metric or imperial at some point.

I love the color and the interior, but the M5 CS looks cleaner in my opinion and sounds amazing. I like where BMW’s performance division is headed, even if I can’t afford one!
In that price rang so many amazing cars. Would probably go Z06 or GT4 for the fun and intoxicating engines.
Both great choices, but apples and oranges. The BMW is technically a DD. Throw kids in the back or drop the back seat for cavernous storage (I throw a 29" mountain bike in there with the front wheel off), and still get similar lap times.
@@saffaseppo7664 the corvette trunk might be able to hold 1 kid 🤣. You are right though the BMW does give you that family/utility component to go with the performance.

@@saffaseppo7664m4 cs rear seats only work for little kids, and the ride is too harsh for anything more than a short trip when youre in the backseat. if you want a good daily might as well go with an m3 that has actual backseats and shares most the capability of the m4, or jump up to the the m5, though they arent as athletic anymore since they weigh a billion pounds.

It proves how incredibly good that m8 comp is.
Still one of the best big GTs ever made at any price. And yes, I'm putting it up there with Astons and Ferraris. It's just an absolute MONSTER. And you can easily turn them up to 800hp and 700+ lb-ft of torque and keep the whole thing perfectly factory feeling.

FYI - The Z06 is the same price as this car.
Oh naw. Im taking the Z every single time.
And I’ve started to see more and more of them being priced at MSRP which kind of makes it a no brainer, especially considering the buyer with that much purchase power already probably has a very competent daily driver, also the Z06 is a once in a lifetime value IMO like nothing is as special at that price point

Ones a 2 seater supercar killer, the other is a liveable, all rounder coupe. Us as car people will take the z06 no doubt but i dont think the buyer for the m4cs is cross-shopping it with a z06

top tip you should NEVER buy a factory matte paint job. Finish maintenance is a nightmare, and you will be totally screwed if you get in a fender bender because it is IMPOSSIBLE to match. If you must have a matte finish, get the cheap paint and get a vinyl wrap in the color you want or a frost clear vinyl wrap.
Does the frost wrap hold up to scratches well?

@@Tfish64 it's pretty durable, and you can ceramic coat it on top to help protect it. I would say it holds up better than the matte paint. But we are talking about a 7-8k application that will last maybe 5-10 years if taken care of.
Usually I don’t care for the M3/M4 this gen but this one is perfect. With that added decal on the hood even the front looks great now.

That's how they did it with e46, if I remember correctly. It was the regular one 1st, then the hardcore almost-slick tires CSL came out, and in the end they made a CS version as a "best of but not as hardcore and thus usable" one.

8:20. Reminds me of when I call IT and they ask me if I have turned it off and on again. Cars shouldn’t do that. Too much tech in new cars. That along with bad infotainment, lack of real buttons and knobs, and crazy prices are ruining the driving experience.
completely agree with you on that one, if something was wrong in the first place, what made it go away after turning it on and off? if it was a "just be careful" kind of code, then why did it behave like that at the first place? it just doesn't make any sense.

I strongly disagree, coming out of the donut drift he caused the car to roll backwards while in drive, the car automatically disengages drive and puts the drivetrain into limp mode to save the gearbox. BMW autos have been doing this for generations, it's not new and makes sense imo. I was learning to drift in an F32 and it did this as well.

I looked into my dealer's allocation on this car, but decided to custom order an M340i from Mexico. I don't want the car to be so stiff it makes me sick. Now I know I made the right choice.

Because they have reviewed the m4 competition and csl and maybe the X Drive Competition as well I think, so it would be a waste of time to put all that time into a basically an M4 CSL that has rear seats.

Yes, but then they TANK their progress with starting price. The price to entry makes it too rich for those that would want one, and not special enough for those that can afford one. No way you are getting this over say a new C8 Z06 or even a new ZR1 that wont be too far off this price. This is a flashy man in a cheap suit wearing a $100k watch.

I like the shape of the headlight housing but the design of the lights themselves aint it. I like the "U" or "C" shaped bulbs of the pre-LCI better than the new design. feels like they changed it just for the sake of changing it. and the angel halos of the F-Chassis BMW will always be the classic.
@@LMBC6BrianI’m 6’4” and can’t fit in the Vette. I ordered an M3 Comp XDrive and my dealer just called and said they have an M4 CS arriving in a month. My order goes into production next week, so if I want the M4, I have to let them know by tomorrow.
I have a lot of leg room in this car, so there are reasons beyond a shiny watch.

@@jkliao6486 yea it's 100% cost cutting but atleast their are still buttons on the dash and moveable ac unlike other cars. All I was saying is that this layout has now been copied by alot. I like it ALOT MORE then looking down at a tablet. Plus BMW has a perfectly placed drivers scroll wheel. I never have to reach forward and press the screen. The scroll wheel is super responsive and easier to use while driving.

Thank God that BMW Group has shifted around all of their Designers between all of the companies they own, I have HOPE for Future BMWs bringing back some classic/unmistakable BMW design language! The M3/M4 has grown on me, but damn I miss the E46 M3.
The main thing i learned this episode is that James isn't just the fancy British voice, he can drive too!
It's really hard to choose this over a C8 Z06 for the same money.

Okay but here's my two cents: Can manufacturers stop making their cars heavier, then release a "lightweight" version of it for more money, then make the next generation even heavier, rinse and repeat?
I own one (in the UK) and it's a brilliant car. It's a very different, and much improved over competition M4. I find the suspension more comfortable compared to my previous M4 LCI, more compliant, more planted. It's playful but controlled. This is BMW's answer to Porsche 992 GTS with daily practicality. I love it.
It's still ugly though....why not get a less ugly M2 for 1/2 the price and nearly as fast on a roadcourse. BMW will never match high end P car times
@fzr1000981 looks are subjective, I like it. The driving dynamics are on another level to any other BMW M car. And I had an M2. Great little cars but rwd only.
Just my personal preference but I like the body lines of the m3 better. 🤷♂️

That front end is really growing on me. I wasn’t really a fan when it first came out but I really like it now. It’s undeniable and very aggressive, which I like. When Audi first did the big grill in the s4 I wasn’t a fan either, now it just works.

All C8s including the Z06 is very heinous inside and out and will not age well. Also has the classically crap GM build quality, unlike most German-built sporty vehicles

6:56 u guys are talking about the steering but if u zoom in the steering is set to "comfort" and not "sport" on the screen. Clear as day. Do yall not know u can click and change it. Theirs a sport option.
Speaking as an M340i owner (not the same I know but steering technology is similar), Comfort is often the preferred choice as using sport makes it unnaturally heavy. None of the options change the numb feeling however.
As an M2 owner, comfort steering is best steering.

The immense amount of depreciation from new to 1-2 years old tells me these are GROSSLY and I mean grossly overpriced from new MSRP. There is no way this car is worth $130k USD. If you said $85k or something close to that, i'd go hmmmmm sure ok. Sharp and fast BMW. But $130k? Yeah no way not ever.
Buddy the m5 cs cost the same as it did 4 years ago. the m4 csl cost the same as it did 2 years ago. The misinformation is insane.
How would you know the CS will depreciate heavily? The standard M4s, yes they do. It's a limited run model. It will keep its value well, once people realise just how good this iteration of an M4 is.

My fully loaded M3 (F80) Comp MT with Carbon Brakes was $75k.... Even that was HIGH considering the time 2018. These new M4's in the US have a MSRP of $130k or more. Ridiculous.. You could get a used 991.1 or 991.2 Turbo for the same price as this BMW..

First off, what planet can you even get a GT4 RS on? Second, which other planet can you get a GT4 RS for the base price which you are quoting of the GT4 RS, which realistically runs $225K US, with no dealer markup.

@@jkliao6486 maybe worse is the wrong word to use here... They are great looking lights that used to set the top tier models apart. If you're spending 3 times as much on a special car, ideally you'd want some bits to stand out and be special. Placing them on the lower tier models "devalues" the top tier models.
@@seb42 If you buy a top trim performance track model for a different real light design, you are the problem and you can only blame yourself when the lights are not exclusive to your 175k car. You know scalpers are mad about LEGO putting a single exclusive minifig from a $599 big set into a $10 small set. It's the same energy, utter stupidity to put it that way.
@@jkliao6486 90% of buyers of this kind of car/price are doing so for the prestige. Limiting that tail light to the high end model, as silly as it may seem, is part of that prestige. It's something that makes it more special. Rational? No. But neither is spending this kind of money on a car.
Not the case, it's only m440i and above. The four cylinder variants do not receive the laser taillights (430i and lower).

Aside from the looks, we have horrible steering, drivetrain fault/limp mode, insane pricing, no manual transmission.
I mean, if a Model 3 has better steering than a BMW, we've lost the plot.

Agreed. Modern cars sound terrible with very few exceptions. People fawn over the BMWs engines, or Porsche - but yes, they both sound unmusical. Give me a Maserati 4.7, a Busso V6, or a 240Z Inline 6 any day over those. Musical notes.

Good thing for BMW is that the people speak with their money. The g8x platform m3 and m4 have outsold the older f8x m3 and m4 by nearly double per year. Look it up. It came with their highest price tag yet and is still hard to keep in stock.

@@G82Watts adro front end only looks good on the m4 for sure its gross on the m3. as far as taillights the csl tails are cool but not a big deal to me. i prefer the wide hips of the m3 any day. and the m340i looks miles better than the m440. the g22 is gross

Bmws carbon buckets are terrible. Super uncomfortable and still weight a lot compared to Porsche buckets
@@ihyln1 boy how u are wrong on that. My dad had a porsche targa gts with buckets and he said he'll never get them again and got a turbo s without them. He works at porsche and the number of people that get them and complain later and opt for the comfy seats he says is insane. He's driven my g82 with carbon buckets and says they are WAY more comfortable and actually usable for daily driving. Bare in mind he's 6"5 and 230 lbs. I love mine.
