    Very informative video!. I have a m50 and have been wanting to upgrade. I think I want to go full frame but the r7 looks tempting. I'm not crazy about the overheating issues with the r6. I'm kinda waiting for Canon's next full frame camera. Hopefully it will fix some issues. Would love to see more videos on the r7 as it relates to video. Hopefully they will come out with more lenses soon.

      My main camera is an R5 with a backup R6. Love the R5 for its tracking ability and 45 mp sensor and infrequently use the R6 because of its 20mp sensor. I do wildlife photography concentrated on birds, and the ability to crop is key to me. Just rented, and returned, an R7. I thought its 33mp sensor and crop factor would work for me and I was planning to sell the R6 and buy it. Well, the R7s buffer is very limited. Example. If you are photographing a flock of terns diving for fish you need to take a lot of photos to get some keepers so you have to initiate a focus on a bird, try to follow it, and keep it in focus, and blast away taking as many photos as possible. Result, the buffer is reached before the bird hits the water and you wait for it to clear. Re-engage, start taking photos of another, buffer is reached, wait to clear, etc, etc. For perching birds, great. Images can be wonderful. Distortion is a reality for fast moving subjects. Take a look at Jan Wegner's review, I think he hits it dead on. Good luck.

    Thanks a lot for a good test video. Should you choose R6 or R7 for nature and astro photos, more pixels or full frame?

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  Год назад

      That is a good question...I think the R7 is probably the way to go. It has more pixels, faster photo speeds if you are trying to capture animals in nature, and if you have a nice lens with a low aperture, it should work for astrophotography as well. That being said I don't do much photography!

    • @justawordaway
      @justawordaway Год назад

      Astro photography puts any gear to its limit and beyond. For astro photography always go for the biggest aperture and biggest sensor and lowest megapixel count.

    I went down exactly the same track when looking for a back up body for my R5 that wouldn’t break the bank, already have plenty of RF glass. There seems a lot of Canon bashing going on on RUclips at the moment because Canon for their own reasons is saying no to 3rd party glass. Honestly if I can’t get decent images and video from the R5 and the RF (or EF) glass I need to be shot not running away sobbing to Sony !!!

  • @gerhardbotha7336
    @gerhardbotha7336 Год назад

    Nothing stops you using EF-S or RF-S lenses on full frame Canon RF cameras. Doing this results in using the cropped area of the sensor. So less resolution for photos but video should be fine? The R7 produces wonderful images for me once you work out how to process them properly. I am not into video. I recently started experimenting with Darktable and even without a dedicated noise profile for the R7 at this point I get amazing results compared to DPP or LR. It is just a bit slow though. For video, I dont think there is anything you can do with the R6 that you cant do with R7 . Just like medium format look is a myth, so too is full frame look. Just find a lens with the right focal length and aperture. The smaller the sensor, the harder that becomes on the wide angle side. EF-S 10-18 or 10-22 is your go to for the R7 right now in terms of zooms at wide angle. Video is low resolution so that is more than good enough

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  Год назад

      Yes, I use EF-S and RF-S lenses on my full frame all the time and it works for video. I also own the EF-S 10-18mm and use it as well. There is definitely a different look coming from a full frame camera vs an aps-c camera and I prefer the full frame.

  • @ChicaneMedia
    @ChicaneMedia Год назад +2

    I really want the R7 but apsc is a deal breaker for my specific needs. Compared to the R6 the no overheating and unlimited record limit really made me consider but I want to wait for canon to release a ff camera with these similar specs, it would really be a true beast of a camera and a contender to the R6 or even better for such an amazing price

      The big difference between the R6 Mark II and the R7 is that the R6 Mark II is a full-frame camera and the R7 is an aps-c camera. If you want the full-frame camera it is $1500 more and if you're cool with the aps-c camera then you save yourself $1500.

      @@DPG_photo if you've never used a full-frame camera before than you'll probably not notice any difference using the aps-c camera and therefore are probably better off saving the $1500.
