maybe Rares against all of the other ones? Rares have by far the best manabase and most of the best cards. Another interesting thing could be commons against uncommons. Uncommons usually lack the critical mass, synergy and early plays, so that could be really interesting.
Phil got a mixed bag for this matchup. On the one hand, he had to play against Seth, which means sitting through Seth getting endless value instead of winning the game. On the other hand, he got to play against Seth, which means his expected win rate probably shot up by 20%.
If the commons deck got Lightning Bolt on Arena for the last game, then Seth probably should've gotten to run a fetch+shock mana base, which were printed at mythic for the BFZ expeditions. And going past the Arena cardpool, Mana Crypt/Sol Ring/Ancient Tomb -> Chalice X = 1 pretty much beats most Pauper decks all on its own. Maybe if it was limited to cards originally printed at mythic it'd be closer (mostly due to having the same atrocious mana base shown in the video), but failing that there are just way too many reprint sets putting top-dollar cards at mythic, even excluding things like tournament promos/MTGO-only mythics.
@Metallicity I'd be interested in how they picked the cards cause if it's based on first printing then Bitterblossom wouldn't be considered Mythic. Also what's with that ugly bitterblossom art, ew.
Seth and Phil has one other video like this recorded in the past (a kind of no-ban list fun challenge similar to the timeless format we have now). Also, its a little old, but Seth and Crim also did a bracket of the best decks 1v1 :) it was a really fun series.
A scryfall search for mythic lands showed me that thanks to Zendikar Expeditions the fetchlands and shocklands have a Mythic printing. So, in the bonus game, the logic that allowed Phil to play Lightning Bolt and Swiftspear also allows Seth to play fetches and shocks, which is still a painful manabase, but significantly expands his options.
@@TMidander EXP also has battle lands, which would always enter tapped because no basics but still something to fetch, and on top of that there's V12 with Dryad Arbor and Murmuring Bosk, both of which are Forests, but the latter also taps for white and black and it's possible to have it enter untapped if you have a Treefolk in your hand. Unfortunately there are only two mythic Treefolk, one of which really requires a very specific deck to be useful. Besides fetching EXP gives us Mana Conluence, Forbidden Orchard and filter lands.
This was awesome! The editing is Phil's usual outstanding work, and you two are a blast playing together. Some sort of combo competitions, where you both have to create the best combo deck around a specific card, might be a good idea
Love this! More of this sort of thing please! You're both great sports, good fun to watch, and excellent at brewing that I'd love to see more content of you two facing off against each other. Against the Odds vs. Brewer's Kitchen, where you both build weird janky decks without the other knowing what to expect.
The PPAP edit was chef's kiss from the Brewer's Kitchen :) Masterclass in editing all around, this is such a great video and hope to see more fun content like this on the channel!
I've been watching MTG content for about as long as RUclips has been around and I think this is the first time I've seen games presented this way. Chatting like you're playing on the kitchen table while on Arena so it's easy to follow is brilliant. Well done.
Cool idea, always love Phil's video! But hey guys, with regards to last game, fetches and shock lands were mythic in Zendicar Expeditions, so Seth could have much superior mana base ;-)
Great editing, things were conveyed fast and well. You guys work great together and I love the idea. Please keep it up! Maybe like a color pie race where you all race to see who wins with decks of a single color first to get all 5 wins or something. You could play each other or randos online. Anyways loved the vid
Seeing that mana, Surge Engine and Karn, Scion of Urza might've good inclusions for the all mythics deck. At that point, it's really just a matter of resolving any cards to stay alive, while also having some potential to finish games.
More of this content please. Also this should be a running series, Phil switched his deck Seth should be able to switch his etc. Also commons vs rares, commons vs uncommon, rare vs uncommon, rare vs mythic, uncommon vs mythic etc
at 15:40 if he didn't play all those elves he actually would've had lethal at 19:00 ish with the harald + ram through + attack, and reasonably he shouldn't have done that since he already had lethal on board and knew about meathook massacre being in his deck. The value was just too tempting though
I never knew that llanowar visionary was literally llanowar elves and elvish visionary combined. They only didn't call it elvish elves because they are cowards
Awesome video! Third game was waaaay clsoer than it looked like, maybe do a best of 5 next time? I know its extra editing time, but these games felt like they could have gone either way and I would have loved seeing a couple more :)
if you let mythics go by pauper rules, that being any reprint at mythic is legal in your all mythics deck, you have access to fetch shocks, demonic tutor, and other generally busted cards that would put your power level WAY more than enough to make it fair in paper
Remember to Tap that Like Button 👍⤵
What else would you like to see us play against each other? 🤔
Uncommons vs rares could be cool. Arena pauper using alchemy cards could also be neat
Werewolves!
i'm doing my part!
colorless vs WUBRG!
maybe Rares against all of the other ones? Rares have by far the best manabase and most of the best cards.
Another interesting thing could be commons against uncommons. Uncommons usually lack the critical mass, synergy and early plays, so that could be really interesting.
This versus format is soo good, we want more of it ❤
Uncommons only would have a rough manabase
Commons, Rares, or Uncommons would be much easier on the mana. Seems like at Mythic it's just all MDFCs
They made the last one into a format 😳
Yeah it has that string feel of "What would win in a fight"
Like imagine doing decks made our of cards printed or reprinted in a specific year
There are lots of dual lands at uncommon as well as utility lands. It wont be be that bad.
Phil isn't just super likeable, he's also an insanely talented editor. This is like, world class editing, honestly. Very impressive work.
🙏
@@BrewersKitchen I was hoping you'd see this! Thanks for making great content!
Pls teach me how to edit like this holy crap lol
"You can't play a COMbo without COM--mons..."
10/10 would groan again
That was a funny COM-ment
I Com, you com, he/she/they com

That is a 100% true. It pained me watching Seth draw 5 more cards off The One Ring and almost throwing the game there as he played Prosper.
Sometimes you gotta flex.
Haha, grabbing that extra virtue, completely ignoring the meatball in his hand that could've won him the game at least 2 turns earlier :D
thankfully friends know how to have fun when playing against each other, made the video entertaining
Love how he acknowledges that regular pauper deck would decimate an all mythic deck. Some of those decks are super scary
Some of the strongest cards in MTG history are at common lol. Mythic have great bombs, but making a deck of them is very tough.
Yeah the bonus game with him playing hotdogs gave me the giggles. It was so brutal

Love this style of content. It would be awesome if 1v1 Inter-Goldfish content became more regular.
Seth and Phil has one other video like this recorded in the past (a kind of no-ban list fun challenge similar to the timeless format we have now). Also, its a little old, but Seth and Crim also did a bracket of the best decks 1v1 :) it was a really fun series.
Love this format and the collab - more of this would be great!

Seths reaction to a Mountain being played lmao
Love the energy and editing!
The editing on this was so superb.
GGWP!
Congrats on the level up, because this def is the next step up!
MtG Goldfish has to be 1 of the best content creators in general. Always making high quality stuff with new ideas
I love the angled edge of the cameras, it feels like cameras themselves are representing versus format.
This feels so much like kitchen table Magic, from the weird decks to the playful banter. Thanks for the breath of fresh air
Absolutely need more of this. You two have so much charisma together, and as usual absolutely top tier editing!
That's really smart :)
But what would the fetch lands fetch?
@@FlyingDominion shocklands, as per grahams post

The hokey commentary between you two is A+
Seth: "thats gotta be the....."
Phil:"BONUS GAME!!!!"
"I just want to say-""BONUS GAME"
What a smooth edit lol
This was awesome! The editing is Phil's usual outstanding work, and you two are a blast playing together. Some sort of combo competitions, where you both have to create the best combo deck around a specific card, might be a good idea
This is a good way to bring the energy you guys have on the commander channel to the main
Love seeing you guys collab. Please more of this.

The sloped, dual cameras looks great. Good setup, guys.
Let's get a repeat where you switch sides: Seth on commons and Phil on mythics!!
This was so fun. We need more of it. Give us that value
🙏
I absolutely LOVE this more casual approach to an MTGGoldfish video.
Taking the extra step to using just Arena commons to take down money piles, then doing actual paper pauper versus Seth. Well done, gentlemen!
Gosh the editing is so crisp! And the music! Sauber! That pikotaro reference was awesome!
Love the production value of this one! You guys keep upping your game and it’s awesome to watch!
Phil why are you so gosh darn perfect?Great job on this video editing- wise too, you really are a talented guy!
The freaking pen pineapple pen joke got me lol I slammed my hand way to hard on my desk to laugh at work.
The PPAP edit was chef's kiss from the Brewer's Kitchen :)
Masterclass in editing all around, this is such a great video and hope to see more fun content like this on the channel!
This is great! I love the banter and the editing is excellent!
Nice combo of both of your guys work - against the odds and brewering strange things on Arena - thanks for the content - keep up the good work!
Ahhhh man this is a fantastic format of vid!! Love the duo perspective, any other vs categories would be fun to see
i love this format, more videos like this! Versus between the MTGG crew new series ??
Your friendly banter and talking over each other is fun to watch! :)
love the goldfish team direct games with fun deckbuilding ideas, hope to see more videos like this
Perfection, absolutely love this and want to see more!! Ya'll keep up the amazing work!
Wow, the quality of this video is just insane, great editing as always Phil!

Very entertaining to watch, high class editing. Well done Phil!
“actually, i don’t want to edit all of this”
-gigachad phil
Wow that is some SMOOTH editing right there. Keep up the good work!!
That bonus game redemption was awesome.
Exactly! I was wondering why he wasn't playing mono red!
Great video editing made it even more enjoyable to watch.
Nice video format, really like this!
I love this! I always think it’s cool when the guys run into each other during arena early access. Cool to see the 1v1s
You guys are always knocking it out of the park
This is seriously good content. Would love to see more!
Cool idea, always love Phil's video! But hey guys, with regards to last game, fetches and shock lands were mythic in Zendicar Expeditions, so Seth could have much superior mana base ;-)
Very entertaining guys. Can't believe i sat down and watched a whole video of kitchen table magic (on arena)
Can we get more videos like this? I absolutely love seeing multiple goldfish crew in games.
This format and editing is a real fresh take from the fishes for me. Love this style
Hell yeah love the chemistry between you two, hope to see more like this!
Both of Phil and Seth in the same video is amazing!
Before watching the video I was fully expecting Phil to be playing blue red spell slinger
the fact that cavern of souls cant cast bitterblossom is probably the reason kindred never returned
Love watching you guys play eachother! Hopefully it happens more often in this style!
A video with Phil and Seth? At work?! Hell yeah dude.
The editing on this video is amazing
This was SO much fun! :)

Id love to see this kind of content (even less produced honestly) on a regular basis. MTG Goldfish's take on What The Deck would be awesome
This is fantastic. Two of the greats in the self inflicted struggle session league.
The larping bolts got me good. And too look back at how it was common. Good times
This video was great! Nice idea! Quite fun! You definitely need more content like this! 🎉

so good, gameplay, editing, humour, concept.
Wow this editing is so crisp!
Great decks.
Great editing.
Loved this video.
Be proud
Loved this kind of format!
More of this content please. Also this should be a running series, Phil switched his deck Seth should be able to switch his etc. Also commons vs rares, commons vs uncommon, rare vs uncommon, rare vs mythic, uncommon vs mythic etc
Can't say no to a new Brewer's kitchen video
I like this- Phill vs a different member of the Goldfish crew. 1 gimmick at a time
at 15:40 if he didn't play all those elves he actually would've had lethal at 19:00 ish with the harald + ram through + attack, and reasonably he shouldn't have done that since he already had lethal on board and knew about meathook massacre being in his deck. The value was just too tempting though
I never knew that llanowar visionary was literally llanowar elves and elvish visionary combined. They only didn't call it elvish elves because they are cowards
This reminds me of GOAT Magic! Please keep making these!
Love this content. Keep it up Phil and the goldfish crew!
fun episode! I like seeing the 2 of you together on videos
Awesome video! Third game was waaaay clsoer than it looked like, maybe do a best of 5 next time? I know its extra editing time, but these games felt like they could have gone either way and I would have loved seeing a couple more :)
Love these types of Seth v Phil videos
You two are my favorite! Awesome content with some super positive people-what a great way to start my day.
Love this new style of video
That PPAP meme made me age 50 years
24:20 Seth’s facial reaction to hearing mountain 😂
the editor is so good... great video
super impressed by the editing!
MORE. OF. THIS! This VS format is so fun, this could also bring back GOAT magic 👀👀👀
OMG THE DUO!!!!! IT'S BACKKKKK
Phil really said in the bonus game:
"You know what? BURN"
this was delightful and i want to steal your editor
I'm ready for the Phil Seth buddy comedy, let's go Hollywood

Oh man, Elves in Pauper are something else: you can go wide in 1 turn and swing for lethal with Timberwatch Elf.
LOVE Brewer's Kitchen's content
Love the 1v1 content with the Goldfish crew!
The first game had me laughing so hard but the third game was probably the best
The editing is great!
this was so good!! please do more!
