Yes Jackie really does his own stunts and usually no wires or anything. He's suffered many injuries and has even almost died. But no one makes movies like he does, he knows how to film fight scenes, no close ups and no dark lighting, at least in his HK movies. He actually burned himself pretty bad during that slide.

The amazing thing is that Jackie had been a star in Hong Kong martial arts movies for about 20 years when he made Rush Hour. He had been in a lot of movies, but didn't really become big until 1978, when he starred in 'Snake in the Eagle's Shadow' and 'Drunken Master'. If you watch them back to back they seem very similar, as they have the same director as well as some of the same actors in starring roles. Other Jackie movies you may want to check out, besides the two I've already mentioned, include (in release order) 'Project A' (1983), 'Wheels on Meals' (1984), 'Police Story' (1985), 'Armour of God' (1986), 'Armour of God II: Operation Condor' (1991), 'Drunken Master II' (1994) (This movie was released by Dimension Films in 2000 in a re-edited form as 'The Legend of Drunken Master ' ), 'Rumble in the Bronx' (1995), 'Mr. Nice Guy ' (1997), and 'Who Am I?' (1998).

3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are:
    1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up
    2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background
    3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. Get that bomb away from me." Towards the end

Just so you're not too scared: C-4 has to be detonated properly. If it falls, or is jarred, or even has a bullet fired into it, it will not explode. It is inert until it is detonated.
Another movie in which an inert explosive scares the hell out of someone is The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), a World War II epic starring William Holden and Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi) -- a classic's classic. You must see it before you die or are blown up by C-4.

Hi. In my opinion, as a fan of Jackie Chan (who started out as a stuntman in various films, including those of Bruce Lee, just to answer your doubt), his best films are the first ones he made when he arrived in America, namely " Rumble in the Bronx" (1995), "Mr. Nice Guy" (1997) and "Who Am I?" (1998). These, in my opinion, are the most beautiful and funniest of his films.
At the end of Jackie Chan's films there are always bloopers and more (such as accidents on the set, both of him and of other actors).
There are 3 films in the Rush Hour series, but the release of a fourth chapter is planned. I'm not a big fan of the Rush Hour series, because I can't stand Chris Tucker (too dumb and his voice timbre is unlistenable).

Jackie Chan does all his stunts himself, since the 70s till today (well, almost), but he is known for that. He's done over 100 films if I remember correctly. There are two more Rush Hours. And you didn't watch the bloopers? what a waste... Watch : The Medalion, Drunken Master, Snake in the Eagle Shadow, who am I, Wheels on Meals, The Tuxedo, Drunken Master 2, Etc...

    "DO-YOU-UNDERSTAND-THE-WORDS-THAT-ARE-COMING-OUT-OF-MY-MOUTH?"
Fun Fact: Stuntman "Judo" Gene LeBell cameos as the cab driver.
Gun Enthusiast Fact: Chris Tucker's handgun is a Beretta 92fs Inox and Jackie Chan's handgun is a Glock 17.
Rotten Tomatoes Fact: This film inspired the creation of the website Rotten Tomatoes. Site founder Senh Duong is a big Jackie Chan fan and built the website to collect reviews for all of Chan's Hong Kong films as they were released in the United States. He coded the site in two weeks putting it up shortly before the release of this film. Rotten Tomatoes is now one of the most notable sources for movie reviews and its Tomatometer rating is used to judge a film's success and used in advertising and award promotions.
That's My Jackie Fact: According to director Brett Ratner, this movie was the first movie to be released in the U.S. featuring Jackie Chan in an English-speaking role without any kind of dubbing. According to Ratner, before this movie, Chan always had his voice dubbed over in his English-speaking roles because of his uncertainty in speaking the language. However, Chan spoke in his real voice for his previous Hollywood films Battle Creek Brawl (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981), Cannonball Run II (1984), and The Protector (1985). For this movie, Ratner claims to have convinced Jackie Chan to forgo the dubbing, as it would lend to the authenticity of his character. Jackie Chan said the scene when his character first meets Chris Tucker's character was very similar to the first time the actors met in real life at the offices of the William Morris Agency. Chan said Tucker was talking so fast that after the meeting ended, Chan told his manager: "I don't understand any of the words coming out of his mouth!"

Hahaha, I especially love that last Jackie fact. He's so charismatic and amazing to watch on screen! I'm glad the director used his real voice instead of dubbing it!

Indeed. It's a downright shame that Jackie Chan has become a CCP Apologist in recent years.
If you guys watch any movie with Jackie Chan in it, I will have a great fact about him relating to the movie.

He does what he has to protect his family, his livelyhood, and his life....the hoops he had to jump through while training in Peking Opera were nothing compared to the ones he had to circumnavigate to keep his son(who was born and raised in the US and thought it was ok to smoke and possess weed in China....it's not) and by assiciation, himself, out of jail. A LOT of people depend on him, including his teams and his charities. Imagine what would happen to them if Jackie was jailed and his assets confiscated... It's probably on his mind a lot. Sometimes trying to work within the system can accomplish more than openly antagonizing it.

cherylcohen5700 ...I don't support people who sides with evil. The CCP is about as close to absolute evil as they come.

React to Bad Boys(1995) a little similar to Rush Hour as in two male law enforcement detectives and just like Rush Hour it’s a Action/Comedy. Bad Boys is a little more rugged and not necessarily as corny-like as Rush Hour.
