Chris Tucker was hilarious in The Fifth Element. His character was the over the top personality in the already over the top movie. He just had license to go wild in that. Definitely Check it out.

I like how art imitates life apparently Jackie didn’t like Chris to much at the beginning because Chris was always late and loud on set but they ended up becoming great friends just like in the movie.
Jackie Chan said he didn’t like Chris Tucker because he didn’t make a good first impression. Jackie said they met before shooting the first movie and Chris Tucker talked too fast for him to understand, and it felt like he talked too much. It had nothing to do with being late to film or loud on set.

A good buddy cop comedy relies on the chemistry between the leads, and that's what makes these movies work... and *no one* uses the environment in a fight scene like Jackie Chan.

Jackie's background as a stunt guy and his team of top tier stunt guys and fight choreographers always deliver with theb seamless action scenes. No cuts and edits that become hard to follow truly an artform
Hilarious! Cool fact, Jackie Chan was really close with Bruce Lee bc he was an extra in one of Bruce's films where Jackie got struck by Bruce Lee and played it up like he was more hurt. After that, Bruce Lee made sure Jackie was always an extra and got him more pay. They called each other "Dragon Brothers". When Bruce Lee died, he was supposed to start in a movie but they were left with no main actor and since Jackie Chan was so close to him they thought he could fill the role. It didn't do well but it was bc Jackie was a different type of person and it didn't fit well. Once Jackie Chan funded his own movie that fit his acting he gained popularity. Leading Jackie Chan to Hollywood A list movies. Super interesting to hear it from Jackie himself.

Tom Cruise-level stunts are nothing because the stunt directors make sure everything is safe for Tom Cruise. Jacky Chan has broken almost every bone in his body because half the time, he doesn't use safety equipment.
Definitely have to watch Rush Hour 2. That’s an obvious next movie. Also have to watch The Fifth Element. Chris Tucker is in it and the character he plays in there is amazing.
This movie always makes me miss the 90s. Such a simpler time!
Also, hands-down, one of the best buddy cop franchises. This and Lethal Weapon have the best chemistry for me. I feel like the jokes will last forever too, just so long as we don't get too "offended" and start slapping people. 😆

One of the coolest parts of this movie is that Jackie and Chris
didn’t like each other that much in real life at first. Chris thought Jackie was a bit of a tyrant and Jackie thought Chris was too laid back on set but then once they started actually working together they became good friends just like in the movie!
For a 1998 film, and not holding back with their profanities in Rush Hour sequels. I love it, and not offended by it at all. You don't see movies like this these days. Cancel culture everywhere now.

Ash, in the US, especially in California, it's not unusual for a corner store or a gas station to have a deli inside that serve stuff like pizza/tacos/burritos. Some of them are absolute garbage of course, but some of them can be pretty legit.

I used to go to three particular Mom and Pop corner stores, one in Philadelphia, one in New Jersey and one in Harlem, where you could a million types of sandwiches and, usually, some equivalent from the owner´s country. Two of the shops were run by Mexican families and you could get burritos, tacos and other Mexican food.

What makes a Jackie Chan movie even better? The fact that he does ALL OF HIS OWN STUNTS. He is a beast. Ash, I think you would whole heartedly enjoy the story DragonBlade with Jackie Chan and John Cusack. It is based on true events and is a beautiful film. PLEASE DO IT! In America - and especially in cities like New York, Chicago, LA... you can get sandwiches and things at some bodegas. They also sell fruit and veggies usually. Tamales too! lol

In the US it's common for the corner shops to have a microwave and simple meals you can heat up for people on the go - so that's where he got the "beef and bean burrito" from most likely since it was in a package.
And a lot of them will have little mini-delis in them that cook food.
The gas station around the corner from my house has one that is only open for lunch, but has pretty amazing burgers.
I think the biggest difference between Chris Tucker and Kevin Hart is Tucker only does good films with good scripts and Hart will be in any garbage film they pay him to be in.
If you really like Chris Tucker, then you've got to see him where it all started... the movie "Friday". It's a CULT CLASSIC and you will not be disappointed

Rush Hour 2 & 3 are both great reaction candidates. Also, I would suggest Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights. They're all hilarious. And as much as Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan a great pair Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan are just as good, even funnier in a few ways. Their outtakes are fuckin hilarious.

FYI, "corner shops" in the U.S. have a lot more variety on sale than similar stores in the U.K. You can get a burrito (or simple, plain pre-made sandwich) at any bodega, "corner store", pharmacy, gas station, or grocery store large or small (in addition to fast food and restaurants) anywhere in the U.S., truly, not exaggerating. It might be frozen and microwaveable, but it's available. I mean, our pharmacies sell as many groceries as small city markets, and you wouldn't believe what's on sale in the truly big stores. Come visit some time, it'll blow your minds.
