WTH! 2021 Ford F-150 Rust Already w/3k Miles, Other Recalls, Issue

- Rust already? Yep, on my 2021 Ford F-150 rust has appeared at just 3k, miles on the undercarriage components. Plus, there have been some recalls and another issue with Zone Lighting. Pretty irritating to see rust already on a truck driven not in the salt belt of the U.S.

Those of us who do not buy a new vehicle in the first or even second year of a new model thank you for taking the shaft for us.
my tundra is 6 years old, 40k mi, the more trucks I look at and PRICE, the more I think i'll just keep what i have. I have put one set of tires on it so far, no recalls, no flashes, no errors in lighting, ... hmm... pretty boring
🤣
I've been looking long and hard at getting a 2021 lariat f150 for the 6 seat capacity and planned on using its as a family hauler. This video made me stop in my tracks. I'm gonna give it another year.

I'd bet $10 bucks that rear axle sat outside on a pallet of numerous axles for weeks or months before install.
Definitely more than likely!
Spoke to my local Ford dealership, they said Ford was having issues with the 2021 F150 when it came to getting parts that there is a shortage and it’s taking a while to build them, that means most of these parts are probably sitting out. So you’re probably right
I worked in a automotive plant before and these things were kept inside. Not sure if it is the case with Ford or not but either way they should be able to sit outside without rusting. They are outside all their life after being installed.
When I got my brand new 2018 f150. I noticed rust forming in the exact same areas as the truck in the vid..I'm surprised it's just now being noticed...I hit the problem areas with rust-oleum rust reformer. Looks brand new.
@@DonMr-Sir Wow, that's just great! 😣
It might cost them 1/2 of 1 cent to spray the rear end and frame. That multiplied by x thousands of units adds up after a bit. Bean counters run car companies, not quality assurance engineers.
Ford sold 787,000 f150s . Even if it cost $20....and they charged $40...they would make $15,000,000
I see Ford/Chevy/Dodge going the way of the horse less carriage.
Who wants to spend $80K on a rust bucket? I drive a 2013 King Ranch, no rust but I won't buy a 2021 Ford F150. Next Truck may be the Tundra made in Texas USA.

This is absolutely normal..
It would take decades for any part shown to be structurally compromised by rust.
THIS...
Sure. Just looks awful. Hopefully I find an understanding buyer when I’m done.
@@Pickuptrucktalk You will. Clean it. Spray it with fluid film. It will soak it and keep it looking fresh. Just hope though that social media doesnt continue to push this silly story. Than we are gonna have people scrutinizing a damn dirty differential and muffler hangers when they look at used or even new vehicles.😂 Areas no one thought or cared about before and really shouldn't when it comes to rust.....
Not true….the rust will permeate and get worse each year. F150 #1 problem is rust. Every 10 yr old F150 on the road rusts out on the rear door lower panel? Why? Because Ford refuses to stop draining the 3rd rear tail light down the panel where water sits in the panel instead of installing a drain plug exit. Horrible workmanship. I love everything else about the the F150 but will never buy one again until Ford fixes it’s 20+year known defect in workmanship.
@@christopherengle8490 We’re not talking about thin door sheet metal… we’re talking about a thick differential housing.
Iron oxidizes and forms a coating that reduces further rusting. Its basically a coating in itself. Many iron bridges are not painted and last over 100 years.
My 2003 crown vic has the f150 differential and it isn't rusty at all. Ford is cheeping out and their lovers just keep making excuses.
That may be true, but that pumpkin already looks 7 years old.
If you normalize bad workmanship, it doesn't get corrected.
This is a quote from someone who has a degree in physics and metallurgy and actually knows what they are talking about. I suggest you read it and, if possible, comprehend it: "Rusting causes iron to become flaky and weak, degrading its strength, appearance and permeability. Rusted iron does not hold the desirable properties of iron. The rusting of iron can lead to damage to automobiles, railings, grills, and many other iron structures."
Well maybe I am wrong but I was told several years ago when I asked why certain bridges were left to rust that the oxide coating on the surface of thick iron protected it. I do believe in a truck it should be properly coated but these vehicle manufacturers are trying to squeeze every dollar for profit on their expensive products.
Wow this video is one day old and has been mentioned in a car and driver article I just read about F150 rusting issues.

Hello FORD, we are listening to Tim. The whole differential should be dipped or sprayed before installation. Rust looks bad and makes vehicles look cheap. We take pride in our trucks!
If you normalize bad workmanship, it doesn't get corrected.
Well I don’t think it’s mainly there fault. They had to hurry making them since they had such HUGE demand and had to deal with delays.
Why buy a Ford then? They clearly tried to save five cents, this should tell you what you’re in for
Forget about sprayed or dipped how about using better on recycled crap...
So you are ok with Ford,Gm,ram all increasing there prices even more to make parts that are intended to take abuse.....pretty???. Because that is what will happen. All these parts on all vehicles untimely rust especially if you drive in the rust belt or a humid climate etc.. It only takes a year in many cases. YES there are people that dont have it. Depends on where the vehicle was built, eventually driven and than cleaning procedures etc..
This is a non issue and not only INDIGENOUS TO FORD. You should probably know this...
Brings back bad memories of constant issues from my ‘19 f150. It’s a shame. Decided higher fuel costs from a tundra was better than sending a f-150 to the dealer every 2 months.
@@daves4568 hahaha ford fanboy 🤣😂
I would be more concerned about that little frame rust than rear axle.
The rear axel it's not a big problem rusting it will never rust trough but the exaust, and the other parts can be an issue in a couple of years if it continue to rust and nothing been doing about it.
I have a 2000 model Chevrolet Silverado and it rusted as hell too but that was after 10 years before it was an issuse so i used Fluid film (linseed oil) all under it and the rust stoped and it is very good no rust at all and the truck is 20 years old, i think the US military use that on the boats and such since 1970 it is an american product.
But on a new car like the F-150 i would use Tectyl the oil is more for older truck's who alleready is rusted bad, so if i was you i would pay and get the truck Tectyl undercoated the whole truck asap and send the bill to Ford.
Sorry if the spelling is bad i'm from Norway.
@@eddale5557 do you just wipe the linseed on with a rag?
Thanks for your honest comments Tim. I look forward to updates on your overall experience with this new Ford. I’ll let you know any negatives with my 2020 Chevy 2500HD; so far nothing significant (had to update Sirius XM to function better, a small detail). I live in Alberta and depending which county or city, they either use sodium chloride or calcium chloride to some degree. I’ll let you know as well. 6000 miles so far, happy with truck.
I'm getting rid of my 2021 f 150 with 8k miles rodents keep eating the wires they blow past food and go for the truck I'm afraid to park it by a tree. Then the dealership keeps the truck for a month. I'm done with Ford.
This is a non issue. Flash rust is common on iron. Not an issue or use fluid film if it bothers you.
My girl has a 2010 ford and theres no rust down there
my 2021 tacoma doesn't have rust like that and I live in the NE. That is an issue for sure.
If it's no big deal, ford should warranty corrosion for more than 5 years.
I've been to Jeep dealerships and brand new vehicles had surface rust on the same components.
I’m not surprised. That’s Fiat Chrysler for you. It’s just sad to see this happening a Ford
@@JWolf24 my 19 ram has 0 rust like this lmao and i've had it since june 2018 living in PA
Tim - that's NUTS! For reference my 2020 has none of that, I just washed the undercarriage (again) yesterday and looked - the underside all looks about like the day I took it off the lot. And I put about 5,000 miles on it over the winter through all the crap that Lincoln and the eastern part of Nebraska throws on the roads. For reference your diff pumpkin looks like the one on my 2011 that I traded in.. with 183,000 miles.
That in mind - I will say I did see brand new Chevys with rust on the frame because they still use that spray-on coating you can wipe off with a towel. My 2011 F-150's frame still looked nice after 183,000 miles in Eastern Nebraska where we salt the roads like a bad Chinese buffet.
There were plenty of complaints over this exact kind of rust on 2015 and 2016 F-150's. Some even had rust on all of the frame welds. This isn't a new phenomenon for F-150's.
This is very typical . I do PDI's on new Ford trucks. The differentials always have surface rust . Exhaust components are tough to keep rust free because hangers aren't stainless and they are subjected to high heat .
Only advice to any new truck owner is to roll under your brand new truck with a couple cans of tremclad . Spray it all . Then have the truck fluid film coated yearly if you live in the rust belt
It should be stainless or painted. Period.
@@DirtE30 that's way above ford's quality standards . Might cost an extra few bucks.... wouldn't wanna keep the customer happy you know lol.

1978 bought a brand new 1978 E 150 Econoline van. Had it rust proofed at ZieBart. 8 months later I had rust through penitration on the front fenders! Ford admitted to using recycled steel in their body panels and denied all rust through Claims. I was a college student $4,800 was a lot of money to me! It cost me a $1000.00 buck to replace the fenders and paint. Thanks for reminding me ABOUT FORD. I will stick with my GMC SIERRA in the Northeast!
Fix or repair daily. Just give it a few more miles and the oil leaks it will have will coat the frame and help stop the rusting.
What you showed wasn't the diff cover, it was the rear end housing. Just needs some paint on it. Ford should have painted it. The plug is zinc coated so it won't rust. Same with your u-joints, they could use a little paint. If you paint the bracket on the exhaust make sure to use high temp paint so it won't burn off. If you do undercoat anything make sure to use an oil based product like Fluid film. Check the back side of your bumpers too. The Chevrolets here have rust spots on the dealer lots from the bumpers rusting already. I agree that those issues should not occur. Also another reason I don't like a bunch of crap on my truck. Just more stuff to break.
Tell Ford to do it I pay 80 thousand for a ford
I am sure you could tell the dealer you want it done or you aren't buying it and it would happen.
I can see it now. Rear end rust protection - 1500
I don't mind new features if they have the bugs worked out of it. They can't solve airbags and EVAP systems for decades now.
Paint won't stop rusting,
Can you slow it down, yes, but once steel is contaminated thats it
Thanks for the update Tim, I've had a 2004 and a 2014 which is my current truck and I have had none of those issues. The only recall I have had is the master cylinder on the brakes and that's it!
The Zone Lighting note says to be sure and hit the off button when you are finished using it. It does not say to not use it at all
My 2021 f150 wipers failed during a snowstorm 5/20/22 in Denver. Was on my way home and had no wipers. Very frustrating. Dropped by to see my friendly Ford service representative a few days before the storm and was told maybe June 2022 parts will be available. But I am not counting on it. Denver will have snow for a week and I am stuck without transportation. They stopped working a few months prior but I was able to get them to work by manually moving them and they started to work again. Now I can’t move them manually and suspect the wiper transmission assembly is jacked up too.
Yep, it’s a recall. Just a mix up at the supplier.
I haven’t seen a differential rot away ever. They are untreated surfaces. Assorted nuts will rust too.

The rust issue is purely cosmetic... yeah doesn't look great but it's gonna happen. The over the air updates are going to be rolling out in phases. The whole truck, like 93%, is new... these are the growing pains of a 1st year new generation. The zone lighting is a temporary bug. Mine is getting the battery drain b/c of this. Doesn't mean you can't use it, just says turn it off when done. The rattle is probably the black plastic trim on the door touching the a pillar. Mine did it too. Yes it was annoying but I removed it and put it back... noise gone. But yeah it does feel like you're getting ripped off when you drop $60k+ and get this in return. I test drove a new Tahoe they wanted $70k for and it rattled like a tin can. We're all getting taken nowadays.
Bryan, got to agree with you on that. The quality was much better back in the day.
Ram paints their rear ends. But yeah for the money the whole underbody should be covered
@@huemongus3742 See, that's what I'm talking about. Come on Ford, my goodness, do something! At least make an attempt for some kind of protection!
I noticed that on my F-150. But that’s nothing compared to the bumpers and horrible step bars. They rust and corrode worse than anything I’ve ever owned. I’m beyond ticked at Ford. I’ve also had continuous problems with emblems corroding.
I ordered an F150 Powerboost (Lariat) at the end of August. It was rolled into a 2022 in Sept. It is due to arrive between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2. What are the odds it is one of the trucks stored on parking lots by Ford while they waited for microchips? Has the rust issue been corrected by Ford?
As far as rust goes I live in northern NH where rust is a way of life here, every truck I have bought as soon as it leaves the dealership it goes to a rust proofer. It gets fuu
I was curious, so I crawled under my 2019 RAM after 2 winters. None of that going on. Also, isn't Ford using stainless exhaust (or at least supposed to)?
If they arent at the house where do you keep your jackstands?
I understand that it pisses you off. Thanks for your honest report about how you are feeling about it. Overall you seem pretty pleased with that truck though. Take care! 😊
57k for a truck grabbed my attention before the rust did. That's more than highway robbery.
Hi Tim,
I totally understand the frustration on the rusty underneath.
I’m not sure if the automakers are not putting the the right steps to keep it protected.
I know Toyota had an issues with rusty out frames on their trucks
It wasn’t any worse than domestics
That’s to bad Tim. It can be frustrating for sure. Not to serious but it would be nice if the diff was painted correctly the first time. You made me crawl under my Ram now LOL. Diff still black with 34000.00 Kilometers. Cheers
I have an xlt powerboost and Ive had it to the dealer 2 times now and i only have 600 miles on it. Issue 1. Ground fault on generator, dealer messed with it, seams fine now. 2. Check engine light, yep check engine at 600 miles. Dealer said its a software issue with pcm and will need to be flashed in April when software update comes out. They cleared the check engine light, but it may come back until flashed. 3. trailer software was flashed, not sure what that was about but they flashed it. 4. zone lighting. Only good news is I dont see rust, but its too cold out to get a good look right now. I guess this is the kind of stuff we go through buying a new model. At least there is warranty. I guess we will see how Ford treats me and if I stay a Ford customer.
My brand new Limited (800 miles on it) has way more rust in same areas. At dealer now to remedy. Apparently, Ford's using a transport service that's getting road salts all over them. Very disappointing!
I have a 2015 f150 and still clean underneath and no rust.
Just picked up my brand new 2021 Lariat yesterday. This is the first thing I looked for after watching your video. Mine looks very nice and painted black. My truck was built at the Kansas City plant, and shipped here to Michigan.
I used to work at a Ford dealership and I saw this exact same thing every single day on new deliveries. Wait until they start receiving some of these F-150's that have been sitting in huge parking lots for half a year and see what they look like when they hit the lot!!!!!!
Ford people need to open their minds that there are other trucks out there. Test one.
Only other truck I’d even consider is a tundra, and those are outdated
I moved from a Tundra to a new F 150 Lariat Hybrid. Tundra's engine last a long time (so do many other engines if treated well) but I had more rust on that Tundra than any other vehicle I've ever owned. Rust in inevitable. Ford certainly could paint/coat the non-painted areas, but they're not concerned about what happens in 10 years as they'll know you'll most likely be in a new one long before that. Every OEM is the same way.
If you got rid of that and bought a Chevy then we would be seeing a video about the issues you were having with that, which would be more
numerous and much more serious. If ford acknowledges it has an issue with this zone lighting then let them sort it out and then they will fix your truck.
Make them put that up on the hoist and paint your housings. The problems with your truck happen, how yourdealer works to correct them to your satisfaction is more important.
Ford is working on a fix... So I wouldn't be upset. Just me tho
Is rust less of a problem with GM or Ram as far as you know? It might help me make my decision on my next truck.
What camera are you using? It is perfect. Can you please send me the link for whatever you use for the camera
I’ve had all three and the first thing I do is take a can of black under coating to all the parts they don’t paint for some reason. This is a very common thing for all of them. 50-70k for a truck and they can’t afford a extra quart of black paint.
🤯🤯
Undercoat holds in moisture, you never want to use (rubber) undercoat. If anything you want to use high temp engine paint.
I've owned my 2020 Silverado over a year now. And it doesn't have any rust. Wow.

@@conduit242 lol, and no!
Wait until 3 years. I have a bumper to bumper and Premium Maintenance Agreement. I asked for the dealer to undercoat when I purchased new in 2018. I was advised that an undercoating would void the warranty. Fast forward a year late 2020 and the rust was crazy. I again asked for something to mitigate potential issues and the Service Manager advised me that this was superficial and that there was a tough coat underneath the rust layer. Fast forward a week ago 10/2021. I have only 18K miles on my vehicle and all of the brakes and components are gone. The wheel well is rusted. And, it gets worse. Even though I have a Premium Maintenance Agreement that I paid $$$$ for, the Ford dealer has quoted almost $2K for brake replacement and 5 hours of labor. No loaner car (as promised when I purchased my truck) and 6 days later my truck is still at the dealer. I have escalated to the NEW CLIENT RELATIONS CENTER. Thought I was making progress with two individuals within this group. Now, they will not return calls or emails for the last three days. Yesterday I escalated to Elena Ford via two emails. I would NEVER EVER imagined this from Ford.

My good friend bought a brand new F150 XLT 4x4 Ecoboost 3 months ago. It stopped starting up after 2 weeks with about 500kms on it. He was moving across the country. It was randomly not starting all throughout his move - right to the Yukon. Some mornings below freezing, wouldn't start for hours. I think he visited 5 different dealerships. The one in Whitehorse Yukon took a month to fix it. It sat in the parking lot most of that time. The Ford sales rep in Western Canada (Yukon) has been ignoring his calls for a full month now. Brushing him off, won't give an extended warranty. Sounds like a terrible company and network of dealerships to deal with.

Enough to be noticed thru a side mirror and when you rub your hand over it...just sloppy assembly. Sad.
I have a question off-topic, I have the hybrid also, if you look under your wheel well on the front passenger side underneath where your shock is, do you see your battery cable right there running above where you would put your leveling kit? It was far from flawless over the years, but the rust under it when I sold it was not even like your truck. Now the rear fender wells were a different story... lol.
The infamous Dodge fender wells
These vehicles get transported from Dearborn to lots around the detroit metro area and there’s salt on the road when there moved usually so they will get surface rust
That's a good point. I could have encountered more salt than I realized I guess.
@@Pickuptrucktalk Really salt doesn’t take long to cause havoc. We work on their prototype vehicles after they test them and find tons of surface rust. It tends to rust quickly in any where they have a weld, especially on the upper portion of the frame where water gets trapped between the body and frame. Obviously for the cost of vehicles now and the amount of research done you would think they would have come up with a solution by now 🤷♂️
What is most concerning is the fact you are in a dry climate where salt is not heavily used, not near an ocean etc. Top dollar and have to deal with this? Unacceptable.

I recently purchased a brand new 2020 F-150 XLT 4×4 3.3 v6 naturally gas aspirated truck. I absolutely love it. The rattle you are hearing on the passenger side of your cab may very well be the seat belt shoulder strap restraining system rattling along side the panel it rests in. This is what I have discovered from a similar noise I was hearing. My quick fix was a simple readjustment of the shoulder strap position. Cheers, Lamplighter 2021 on the side!

on a vehicle no you want no rust because it can spread and once it does it drastically weakens the metal best to get the vehicle zinc coated as soon as you buy it and to do it yearly to prevent this issue
Seems way to early for that amount of rust and they don't salt the roads where you live.
Re. The passenger pillar rattle issue....if you use the overhead sunglasses door/cubby, I sometimes get a rattle that sounds like it’s coming from the pillar trim, but it’s actually the arm of my sunglasses rattling against the cubby door. Since it’s intermittent, took a while to track it down....
I am surprised. I worked at a Ford dealership for a few years. The surface rust wasn’t present when I worked there. Ford needs to get those pieces painted at the factory. Ford can do better.
I used to have to spray under chevys because they're awful with rust.
Yes I’ve had to do that also
Same with Toyota's.
2016 Tacoma here 89k miles in Northern Indiana. cero rust up until now.
tacoma had issues too not so long ago, frame was badly rusting, major recall. Similar problem with Tundras in early 2000s.
Toyotas are weird. I’ve seen 15 year olds trucks with zero rust and 15 years old trucks that the frame is swiss cheese. The newer trucks are definitely better.
@Paul Cysz The newer trucks except GM all have e-coated frames and do not rust. My 4 year old 4R looks brand new underneath. Anything built since 2010ish will not rust in any structural way. Washing, oil coating, and other rust prevention is a waist of money and time.
@Paul Cysz No, I live in the mid Atlantic. I never see rusted vehicles unless they are really old or beat up like construction trucks. New vehicles just don’t rust anymore unless they been in an accident.
@Paul Cysz I see very few rusted vehicles when visiting New England. Most of the rusted vehicles are very old, caked with mud, or wrecked. Frame E-coating does not react with road chemicals.
Since you have the Powerboost Hybrid, can you comment on the noise from the electric motor/transmission? Thoughts?
Well in Electric Driving mode, you don't hear anything. When the engine is on, it is fairly typical of the EcoBoost engine sound. Muted and not really that loud.
The spots to be worried about are the holes they tape over under the rocker area. The tape falls off and then water and debris gets in there then the cab corners rust. My 2011 has done that and it really pissed me off cuz it was too late when I figured it out. Love the truck besides that. 255k and still running good. 5.0. Fx4.
Rust? Normal, I am a Toyota fan and I see those tundra and 4 runner, rust like nuts, it really breaks my mind, all car rust, unless u drive a plastic car....
My 4 year old 4R has no rust. I just crawled under it. The older 4Rs rusted pretty quickly.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q I had a 2010 Tundra that had aggressive rust in just under a year. Tailgate had rust within a year. Spots around the bed bolts, around the wheel well area in the bed, on the frame in various areas. Every Toyota I've owned since the 80's has had aggressive rust. I just assumed the Japanese and unconcerned about preventing rust. Particularly for owners in "cold weather states".
Do not drive on salt it is horrible and will do more damage than people think I have a 1995 sr5 4runner no rust and I live in the rust belt
I have a 2020 raptor sticker78k same thing. I sprayed it black then sprayed clear over everything then had the truck krowned
Undercoating is offered at purchase or you can do a video on how to DIY undercoating. On the zone lighting at least they are telling you there is an issue so you don't come out to a dead battery.
Just picked up a 2021 f150 Lariat xlt supercrew, assembled in Dearborn. Mfd the 2nd week Feb. Looked underneath, no rust whatsoever. Rear differential painted.
Really? Interesting.
Mine is a 2022 f150. Just picked it up have 270 miles on the odometer and the rear differential is just as rusty as yours. Unbelievable
Kind of irritates you doesn't it?
Your kidding right. That rust means nothing. I've owned Ford trucks for 40 years, live in NY and never lost a truck to rust.
Here in northern Illinois your vehicle has a 10 year timeclock to rust through. They salt so much that the blacktop is white through winter until enough rain washes the roads down.
On the updates, lights are software, modules are firmware. Software can be updated over the air, firmware requires physical connection.
I had a 17 F150 XLT. Had the same rust. Noticed it with 50 miles on the vehicle. The truck ate 3 batteries in 3 years. IWE issues every winter. Frozen door locks, did they fix the warping dash yet? Unlikely. My entire dash would black out including SYNC and turn back on after a few minutes. Ford never fixed anything. So glad I leased it. Now driving a Ram for almost 18 months and still have no rust or any other issues.
Fluid film 👍🏻
I'll be buying a case of it soon.
People have been complaining about this since the 2015's, mine had it, never got any worse in 6years and 140k miles.
I’ve noticed the diffs on newer fords starting to look rusty way too early. I know it shouldn’t happen!! I have a 2018 and coat the under carriage once a fall with Amsoil HD metal protector. Mines as black as the day I drove it home....
If you were going to keep it, I would probably spray it with fluid film. Just an FYI, there are other videos about a brand new F150 with axle surface rust also so we know now that it is a common issue and Ford seems to just blow it off.
I take care of my rust pretty easily at every oil change. My wifes Toyota is a 2002 and still looks pretty good.
Tim, I picked up my new 2021 Ford F150 on Jan. 11 2021. My rear axle looks the exact same as yours and I’m not happy about it. Dealer told me “they all come like that”. This is BS. Worse then the rear axle, I found several surface rust spots on my frame. Most likely caused by tooling marks that were not repaired. I literally spent almost 2 hours on my back in my driveway sanding the surface rust off and priming and painting everything I could find. Completely unacceptable for a new vehicle. I guess Fords e coat doesn’t do what they say it does. I did not buy a GM pick up because they all have rust issues with that wax coating they put on their frames. My last Ford F-150 was nothing but problems. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.
What year f-150 had nothing but problems? And like what?
Sorry to see this. I had brand new 2013 f150 undercoated, washed weekly - rusting under doors, on chrome bumpers, etc. in less than 3mts. I think the factory must keep components on hand then paint over the surface rust when ready for assembly? Not to bash Ford because I love them but these vehicles are not cheap and I expected better. Had less rust on bumpers of my 96 F150. Different processes I suppose. I agree with Terry Sharp that those underside components probably will never be a problem though. Once a few parking lot car doors 'break things in' it gets easier :)
Factories don't make every part on their vehicle's, they buy from suppliers & most of the ones you pointed out like exhaust hangers come raw steel or oil coated, some have thin layer of paint,no primer, no chance to last underneath a car or truck.
Ford has been cutting corners on that kinda stuff for years. They simply don’t paint their sub components. Very odd.
Climb under a precious Toyota Tundra. You'll find the same type of stuff.
@@edjackson4389 afraid I won’t. Exhaust is fully stainless. Differential/axles/driveshaft flanges are all painted.
@@DirtE30 I'm under them all day everyday and I see surface rust everywhere. Maybe not in exactly the same areas as a Ford or Chevy, but it's there. On top of that he's bitching about something that has been the same for 80 years
My 2015 lariat is sprayed underneath
@@DirtE30 As far as the stock on the dealer lot, I don't see the rust on the Tundra's. After some time on the road, I don't know as I haven't been able to look under somebody's pickup.
For how much all new vehicles cost. Their shouldn't be any rust on them. Every part should be spray with rust prevention.
Rust prevention isn't permanent. Unless applied every single year.
My 2021 xlt same color like yours has 35 miles only ... same rusty spots..the zone issue came up today .
I looked at a Kansas City truck a couple days ago at my local dealership it had 28 miles on it and it had rust in the same places
