All tea makes me nauseous and have diarrhea. I had to quit. I’m pretty sure it’s the salicylates as other high salicylate foods like turmeric do the same thing. I watched too many influencers like gundry who said green tea with turmeric was the best polyphenol blend for inflammation and gut health but I got too loaded up with salicylates and oxalates from it. Now I’m no longer jealous of people who can tolerate tea.

But I wish there was a comprehensive discussion on the reasons why these products are bad. i.e. Thyroid, heavy metals, chemicals, diuretics, nutritional deficiencies, epichlorohydrin, caffeine, etc. What do you think?

  • @stanlevox2291

I love making different types of tea. This argument is much like the argument of processing rather than tea itself. I.e pesticides, contaminated soil vs stuff grown in closer to pristine conditions under care. I remember making rhodiola root tea with fresh rhodiola many years ago with siberian ginseng, with some wild shaman blend of blue lotus and many other things I felt amazing.
I think it's fine that some phyto nutrients block the iodine transport for a short period of time as those phytonutrients also help destroy cancer. Just because something inhibits iodine for however long the half life doesn't mean it's inherently bad.

Trace amounts of natural fluoride is perfectly fine. Pharmaceutical sodium fluoride in mouthwash or toothpaste that you spit out is debatable on benefits but mostly fine. The danger is the Hydrofluoric acid, which is a toxic byproduct of the phosphorus mining industry, that is being added to the tap water supply. That is the one to watch out for. So not all fluoride is equal, the form matters and how its being used matters.
