That is so true! Most people don't quite understand something and it is important to make SURE that what you believe is what is really true, and the only way to do that is to ask more questions! Jesse is an EXCELLENT interviewer, IMO.
Yes, I have also found that other interviews with her weren't as clear, kind of jumping all over the place with the topics cut too short to fully understand it.

This is insane! I was having so many weird symptoms like heart palpitations, night sweats, pain in my feet upon standing, low energy, cold hands and fee and fibrocystic breasts since I was 18. I am 42 now. After 6 days of taking 4 drops of 2% iodine most of my symptoms are 99% resolved. I took the iodine loading test 2 years ago and was low in iodine. I supplemented with iodine but then stopped taking it for about a year. (I started listening to people who said iodine was bad for me) Thats when all my symptoms started to show up. I didn't change anything else except adding iodine recently and it was clear that it worked wonders for me! I already have a clean diet, no grains and no dairy and eating 90% whole foods. I finally feel amazing! My husband has started taking iodine now as well after he saw how it helped me. I am also giving a little to all my 4 kiddos.

Hey beware: thyroid and breast cancer are related to iodine deficiency. If you have one you are at higher risk for the other. I was having painful breasts too and the was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The breast pain continued, but once I did my research I started doing elemental iodine and the breast pain disappeared. It is a crime the endocrinologist nor the gynecologist will tell you the connection.
Jesse you are truly one of the best, and most thorough interviewers in the health-through-good diet space. You do the background work and unlike some groups that have Dr. Bright come and speak now and then to a larger audience than just the interviewer, you are able to drill down on a given topic and get very thorough, complete answers particularly with professionals like Dr. Bright (and there are no interruptions from an audience that changes the thread of the conversation with every question each person asks, and which often shows very little prior understanding or research on the part of that audience member). Dr. Bright always astonishes me as do you too! You do your homework AND I love watching you as your brain processes what the guest (in this case, Dr. B.) is saying so that you know what else to ask next. Kudos to you. This is one of the best interviews I've ever heard with Dr. Bright.

I baked 6 bone-in beef short ribs last night... on a grate in a pan (@300 for 3hrs). After the drippings cooled & solidified, I tasted the tallow and was blow away at how awesome it was (it had quite a bit of salt in it from my salt rub of the meat). I've been in this ridiculous habit of throwing the tallow out. My ancestors must be rolling in their graves.
@@robyn3349 lol... right. I was looking at the fat breakdown for tallow... 48% saturated, 49% monounsaturated... so the tiniest bit polyunsaturated (the most unstable). For cooking, tallow is basically pure energy without the oxidized polyunsaturated nonsense.
I'm making tallow right now. My butcher throws in a pile of fat for me at no cost. I make sure I buy plenty of goodies from him. He also carries 6lb slabs of sliced bacon with no sugar.
I cook big brisket with lots of fat on it. I strain the fat makes some times as much as 1 qt yellow. I make cornbread and biscuits with it and use it for multiple uses.
Such a good conversation. My mind has been spinning at all the supplements we get recommended to take. And it always leads to more, co factor for this and that. For months my mind, and my wallet, knew there had to be a better way to live. Trying to get down a bowl full of supplements just didn't feel right. And is a struggle on a fixed income. National Institutes of Health states that iodine could replace antidepressants and also having a lack is responsible for miscarriage, autism and many other issues. When you first start supplementing with it, it feels like you're taking happy meds.
I agree 100%! From my own personal experience of experimenting with natural interventions to deal with a myriad of conditions such as Endometriosis(& all the related symptoms ),Depression,Fatigue,Sinusitis ,headaches ,,the list is endless-I can attest to Iodine Supplementation. I even stopped drinking coffee cause it gives me the same things I was chasing from drinking coffee. Ofcause diet Cleanup also key cause I'm KetoCanivore.
I had to watch this again. I took kelp before but not very often. I noticed it helped with the winter blues. I just started lugal's yesterday and I feel a difference already. Like I'm roaring to go.
She recommended 2 drops of 5 percent Lugol's taken in the morning But she herself takes 6 drops every day . I guess 2 to 6 drops is a safe and effective dose .

9 Years ago I started to become very blue - crying daily for no reason over months... I did some research and found I might have hypothyroidism (I had other symptoms as well - thinning of outer eyebrows, cold hands & feet)...during the process of finding an endocrinologist to test me, I started taking 1000 mcg daily (kelp) and within 2 weeks, my crying & blues faded away completely! Upon getting tested, I was considered normal but after doing my homework, realized my T3 was subclinically low so found a doctor who agreed and prescribed a low dose of Armour Thyroid. Anyway, I've been taking Iodine (predominantly kelp-based - 1153 mcg a day). Since then (now about 9 years), I've not been sick at all... no C19 (despite my husband having a mild case a couple of years ago)... I credit it with my consistent intake of that iodine! Of ALL the supplements I take (D3, Magnesium, Omega 3, MK7), it is the ONE that I have noticed any benefit (I assume the others are beneficial but I've not witnessed that)... I will NEVER not take iodine!!

I’m listening to this a second time because I always miss something. Dr Bright brings a lot of great information forward and I truly appreciate that. As young child in the early 60’s, my dad always had a half a cow in the freezer, we ate meat and animal fats. We also ate garden produce, berries we picked, some oranges, apples and bananas throughout the growing season. We had some fermented foods in glass jars in a basement food cellar , frozen berries and veggies from the garden in the freezer. We also spent our days outside getting lots of sun and dark glowing suntans (when we were not in school because other than the occasional children or family show on our “black & white” tv) we were pretty much outside…year round. 😃. Whew 😐 in saying all of the above …I 💯 believe that RFK Jr will fix the air, soil and water which I believe WILL BE worldwide because our air, water, soil has all been tampered with and adulterated AS is our cleaning and personal products. I’ve been doing organic and supplements for almost 36 years out of necessity 🙁 Even though I eat keto 50 g total carbs… I still eat some berries throughout the fall and winter with ferments, small amounts of veggies and cheese from Italy and YES even some grassfed Greek yogurt, goat kefir too. I believe 💯 I believe we are omnivores. I just started taking some iodine the last 4 months also. I also 💯 believe (as I have often read) that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I believe our soil, air and food will get healed/fixed up. Sorry for my “long reading novel” above. 😬
When I first heard Elizabeth Bright talk about iodine a couple of weeks ago, I had a bad case of shingles that seemed like it would last a few weeks. But on the very day I started with 10 drops of 2% iodine, they began to get better and heal immediately. I knew it was the iodine. And I'm giving iodine to my cat who is fat and hungry 24/7.😃
@@Buffcole1 In one interview (with Ken Berry), I heard Dr. Bright say that some people need 4 drops of 5% Lugol's Iodine. However, I could only find 2% on Amazon, so I used 10 drops.

When I was a girl the fat after cooking beef was always saved. We call it dripping in the UK. You can cook fries in dripping and they are absolutely delicious. We would also have toast and dripping, often with added salt on top. Obesity and diabetes were extremely rare then. We should never have demonised fat, and ate high carbs and low fat instead. That's when everyone started to get unhealthy.

Ok, I had Dr Bright's 1st book that recommended cheese, glad I listened to the end to see she did an update book and now says no dairy, except butter. Glad I came upon your video. I can't seem to get fat adapted and end up with the runs. Good video. I appreciate you asking questions from different directions and examples. Animal fat only. We need cholesterol. No tea of any color - has fluoride. Blocks iodine. Coffee ok - she does decaf. Oatmeal, flax seeds also prevent absorption of iodine. Lugol's 5% - maintenance of 2 drops only after recovery healing. She takes 6 drops a day - am between 6 and 9. Iodine and salt will pull halide toxins out of body. Iodine needs to be upped if fluoride, if go to a chlorine pools, etc. Iodine is a water soluble vitamin and excess will come out in pee.

I’m in the UK and get local lamb liver, it is great. Here’s two recipes. One chop liver into 1inch cubes sizes, add white pepper and cumin, hot grill for 5 or so minutes. Have with salt. Next recipe: put on a pizza either garlic and rosemary. Lamb liver pizza is a thing of beauty. Best combination of flavours.
Just a suggestion, be careful with the cumin because it comes from seeds. And seeds are high in oxalates. Just Google whether cumin has high in oxalates or not. And then you'll know
Halides have atomic weights. Basically the smaller it's weight, the smaller it's size. The smaller weight molecule displaces the larger molecule. Fluorine' weight is 19, the smallest of the four halides. Flourine will bump out all other halides in the body receptors. Next is Chlorine' weight of 35.5 then Bromine weight is 80 and last is Iodine' weight at 127. This is why exposure to any other halide will remove Iodine from the body. You will need to filter your water either by reverse osmosis or steam distilled to get the flouride out of the water. You can get a special filter to remove flourine specifically also. I was able to reverse my hypothyroid condition by using a solid carbon block filtration on my water source and putting in Lugol's along with raw apple cider vinegar into a drink. I'm a 200lb male at 72 years old. I take a tbsp of ACV and 10 drops of 2% Lugol's in a 18oz glass of the filtered water. I take this upon rising figuring that to be the best time to have my body to have detoxed and cleared from the previous day. Also get a flouride free toothpaste. All flour products have been bromated. Some organic flour might be bromate free, read the labels but that's no guarantee. Contact the company. As far as fats go, ruminate fat is king. The best source of those essential fatty acids of true A, true D, true K2. Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil has none.
@@nogames8982 I started with one drop a week. After a few weeks, I realized that the days I took the one drop I was feeling better than the rest of the week. So I went to one drop a day, so that I could feel good every day. Then recently, I tried two drops a day. That was good. So I jumped to five drops a day. Been doing 5 a day and my mood is so good, I am sleeping well and waking up on time in the morning. If you want to know more I recommend you watch some RUclips videos with interviews of Dr David Brownstein. Or read Dr David Brownstein's book, "Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It". Another book, maybe less scientific but more about anecdotes shared by women, including how they dose the iodine, is "The Iodine Crisis" by Lynne Farrow. Keep in mind I am taking Lugol's 2%. There are higher concentrations which have higher percentage. Another factor is I have kidney disease, so I am drinking a very large amount of water. A lot of my nutrition is just leaking out of my kidney.
Jesse so glad that you politely pushed for her to answer the question that you had repeatedly asked about the importance of supplementing especially if you're on a low-fat plant-based diet. The doctor finally caved and admitted it it!! I think the problem is that the doctor just can't understand why anybody would be on a plant-based low-fat diet.,. Because in her mind that's the stupidest diet and why would you refuse to eat some animal fats You did a remarkable job at not becoming argumentative while still pushing for the answer that you were trying to get to.

Wow I've been watching different videos of hers and then this one she looks 10 to 15 years younger than the earlier videos. Amazing! And she's spot on. Really truly knows her stuff and way more than the average physician.. but like she said she's been studying and researching for years. And started putting the pieces together when comparing it to dealing with her own immediate family as well. There is something to be said for education and something to be said for life experience! Thank you so much for this interview on your podcast. And thank you so much to Dr Elizabeth bright because she does so much of this on a voluntary basis and it's helped thousands and thousands of people and will continue to do so. I wish I could afford a consultation with her! But don't even know how we can go about doing something like that.
Not to mention the ability to connect things and reason in a logical manner (Thanks to bad people in government and Pres. Carter who created the Federal Dept. of Education in the U.S.) two or three generations of kids are not only NOT taught how to think logically, but they are sidetracked by propaganda and other brainwashing and lies PLUS they are not even taught Math or Reading. I literally watched a long video yesterday, from this very channel with Dr William Davis. He spoke of how worrying it is that there are doctors on the internet recommending high doses of iodine......then i see this pop up today?! How can we ever begin to apply this info when even the experts all seem to have conflicting advice.....arghhh!
William Davis is implicitly referring to the issue that a high intake of iodine is problematic unless you take sufficient quantities of selenium as a cofactor to go with it. Iodine and selenium are both fundamental for thyroid function. Too much of one element can cause a deficiency in the other resulting in thyroid issues. You can get selenium very easily from meat and brazil nuts (like 3-5 brazil nuts should do the job). Elizabeth Bright is a carnivore so should get a good deal of selenium from red meat so maybe doesn't mention its importance for that reason. Hope that helps dispel some confusion.
This was very helpful for me someone who at 45 is navigating hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, brain fog, low energy, difficulty gaining muscle, and stress, and and and … I know I’ve hit something here bc I’ve tried fasting, supplementation including HRT, mindfulness practices but no resolve so definitely gonna try this sounds simple and delicious 🎉
It's true what she said about supplements. I am carnivore for 11 months. So no need for supplements. But I was taking b12 and the bloodwork # was in the thousands. I stopped it bc runinant meat is all I need.
I did 3 weeks of iodine detoxification and now I am supplementing because this only made me realise how deficient Our bodies are in this crucial element.
We luckily have "red" tea called "rooibos" which is made from a shrub in South Africa which is not related to any eastern tea. It has no caffeine and tastes great without any sweetener
@booytjie I have no idea of the floride content in the soil in desert areas . . . You make a good point. Dr Bright is adamant though that all teas are poison 🤷♀️
Is 3 drops of J. Crows iodine a day too much? I have stared taking it. I am 80 had half my thyroid years ago. I got a Got a goiter years ago. I have never eaten much fish. Doc wanted to remove my thyroid immediately this is when I was 60 I’m now 80 I said no way don’t you have iodine pills or something I can take to see if it will go away? Oh no we have to take it out. So I started using ionized salt again. Not kidding!! It was gone in a month maybe less. Looked in the mirror one day and it was gone I’m not kidding. It was gone. I now put iodized salt on my food and I don’t use a lot of salt because I have high blood pressure. It doesn’t take much. I no longer trust Doctors like I did. it’s just very sad what has happened in this country USA and what they are doing to us and all over the world. So I’m now supplementing with iodine drops.
Please switch from table salt to a good clean Himalayan salt. Keep up with Iodine! There are protocols to increase iodine slowly until your body has all it needs, after that you can do your 3 drops to maintain. Look for book by Dr Mark Sircus ❤
Im glad now i eat 6 eggs a day, that's a full supply of iodine for the day. Also only 3 oz of shrimp has 23% of daily iodine, i eat a big bowl twice a week no iodine issues.
you may want to supplement, not only are we heavily exposed to halides but the recommended daily allowance (RDA) values are way too low.. every cell needs it, not just the thyroid..
It's been 14 months of eating carnivore and no weight loss so I'm going to cut my meat down to 4 ounces a day and one stick of butter a day .I was eating 1 pound to 1and a half pounds of meat and 4 tablespoons of butter a day . I'm going to try and eat less meat and more butter
You probably weren't eating enough tbh. I recommend eating 2 lbs a day and see if it helps. Your body can hang on to weight if you're not getting enough nutrients.
if you are not overweight you don't need to lose kg. but it would be difficult in 14 months not to se body comp changes.better skin. better brain etc..more muscles and energy
I agree with almost all the content in this episode, but one small nuance that I think needs to be explained… according to David Brownstein (one of the most iodine literate people on the planet) he has found in the lab over 20 years that Chloride will not competitively compete with iodine in the body. Because even though it is a halide, it has its own receptors in the body Salt is also NaCl (sodium chloride) which Elizabeth acknowledge is indeed critical to healthy human cell biochemistry. Need some further explanation here…

Drank raw milk all my life. Eat meat, eggs & consume unpasteurised milk & some unpasteurised cheese. Also unpasteurised butter. At 65 never had any real health issues, don't understand "inflammation" as I've never experienced it. Don't even know the name of my current Doctor, never seen or met them. No idea about my bloods as they've never been done. Don't even know my blood group. Do maintain around 180nmol/L Vitamin D levels but that is the only test I do privately as my GP won't do it. Rarely get a cold and never experienced the recent disease either!
I’m around a week into taking it and am bloated, having diarrhoea and some headaches. I also have a metallic taste in my mouth, I’m almost certain I’m detoxing heavy metals through the iodine and it will balance out. I’m 100% lion diet carnivore, 3 months In.
I react to grass fed (not grass finished) beef but not lamb. Right now, I just stick with lamb, fish, some chicken and duck, all high quality. If i could access grass fed and grass finished ethically raised beef, i would give that a go. I was vegan and have been reincorporating meat to heal my autoimmune and fatigue stuff
Of course. She has an extreme diet and it works for her, but you can get your soil tested and do what works for you. Always trust your body’s reactions and results over what anyone else says. Remember the science said cholesterol was “bad, and now it’s good. Lol. Science doesn’t know everything yet and probably never will.
I have been curious about the pool thing. I’ve been attending water cardio classes at the health club three times a week during the winter. When I take my suit out of the dryer, it reeks of chlorine, despite rinsing it in the shower before I come home. So basically, we’re all just steeping in this stuff at least three hours a week, plus time in the Jacuzzi. I’m already taking a few drops of Lugol’s daily, but do you have further recommendations? Lugol’s and salt protocol?
I would stop going to the pool..sorry but I feel that is what started me on Low thyroid..from childhood. California pool in the backyard.. hours and hours.. ended up with multiple miscarriages ( 3) at 18 years of age and one more later.. plus all the other symptoms..TSH 11, 14, 18, up to 200 when I tried to stop levothyroxine..full blown Mixadema..and I wasn’t taking any iodine..now on a lower carb diet.. heading towards carnivore..and just starting Lugols.. just noticed the bottle I have is 2% not 5% so I need to get a new bottle.
❤ I have only been able to buy 2% Lugols, what would the equivalent of 6 drops of 5% be? Also the bottle says 2% iodine and 4% potassium iodide, should I still buy it? I am going to try Lugol's. However, I seriously disagree with her about vitamin D. First, I cannot eat fatty meat because it makes me nauseous. I do eat a lot of dairy. My vitamin D level is very low without supplementation. I take a statin, which also inhibits vitamin D synthesis. I am a big supplement user and I know vitamin supplements have improved my health. When I added K2 MK-7 my A1c dropped from 5.4 to 5.0 and has stayed there. I do have multiple thyroid nodules and will try Lugol's and see if it helps. My TSH is only in the 1.5 range, so no hypo- or hyperthyroidism.
23:28 Get tea from Azores, Gorreana brand…. grown in the middle of the Atlantic, without Pesticides - and because it’s grown on an island, no neighbouring land sprayed with pesticides blowing over to it. Plus… it’s good.
Can you please recommend the rigjt Iodine to supplement and dose? I have hypothyroidism and take 50mg daily Thyroxine but I am DESPERATE to stop taking this and to instead supplement. I have started getting regular palps too, and am convinced this is all related. I was told a few years ago I have thyroiditis and my thyroid sometimes gets tender to touch. I do eat cheese and drink milk and love broccoli and cauliflower and I'm addicted to tea 😫 From today I'm swopping for coffee but what recommdations for the other foodstuffs? I'm confused about what is ok and not ok to consume. I want this problem resolved through nutrician not big pharma 🙏🙏🙏
What does Dr. Bright think about eating seaweed as a good source of dietary iodine.. I have had it recommended by other RUclips channels but I though the seaweed also has a lot of toxins in it like heavy metals etc Also, what does she think about molecular iodine? I have been using a molecular iodine mouthwash that is wonderful! Recently I stumbled across Violet molecular iodine supplement and am thinking of taking it
Chicken liver actually has a better nutrient profile. Beef liver is higher in things like iron, etc. But chicken liver has all the B vitamins and more.
Joe and Charlene found the way: fatty untrimmed choice ribeye cooked medium/medium well. Bear agreed: do not fuss over food. Eat the fat until you are sick of it, then as much lean as you want.
Keep in mind that more than 250 mg of vitamin C A Day, which you can get in your food, can break down into oxalates also. Taking way too much vitamin C is all part of this misinformation since the 1980s

@laurapoirier, YES FINALLY!! I have PCOS, NO GALLBLADDER, NAFLD(non-alcoholic fatty liver's disease), GASTROPARESIS, and GASTRTIS/acid reflux. When you no longer have a gallbladder, you CAN NOT BREAK DOWN ANY FATS. I've tried taking an ox bile due supplement, but my stomach KILLS me with pain when I do so. So I'm basically screwed at this point regarding malabsorbtion/poor nutrition as well as being IGNORED and GASLIT from all these STUPID WESTERN DRS that DON'T KNOW much less DO SHIT much less anything BENEFICIAL to a patient other than PRESCRIBE PILLS PILLS PILLS. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

I live in the US and have been using A1 products for about a year. I actively seek out better food choices because I’m so unhappy with our food system. I now see more and more A1 products appearing on the shelves at our better stores. I think more and more people will notice them and seek out more information on its benefits. My fear is that they will somehow screw up the Guernsey cows for profits.

mBC here. I’ve been following Thomas Seyfried’s protocol of eliminating glucose & taking green tea to block cancer’s other favorite fuel, glutamine. I’ve been using a fluoride-free toothpaste but have been drinking tea all my life. Is it possible to remove the fluoride from my body ?
If Dr Bright said she was 82, instead of 62, then I'd consider supplementing with Iodine. But the way it stands, I haven't come across any Iodine advocates who appear convincing enough. And then Ray Peat says most people are too high in Iodine, and for the most part their thyroid problems are related to estrogenic factors in their environment. This is too confusing. Why does Dr Bright say that too much exercise is bad, and then mention she paddled 8km the other day? How much is too much? I like Dr Bright, and believe she means well. But I'm not convinced.
Ray Peat is speaking from the perspective that iodine is "bad for you" so you should only take it in very small amounts that most people actually end up exceeding. Jesse brings up this iodine fear with Elizabeth Bright and she does specifically address this issue. I think a balanced viewpoint from the research is that there is a lot of benefit to iodine when combined with selenium (from red meat and brazil nuts). Ray is right about the estrogen imitators that disrupt hormonal activity but again Elizabeth addresses this very issue and recommends increasing the dose of iodine to overwhelm this competition in the body. She recommends 6 drops a day for this reason and calls it the "iodine shield". As for the exercise piece, "too much" means intense exercise. This is controversial since many benefit from it while others do suffer inflammation from the stress of it, like glutamine depletion and the gut issues therewith. Obviously, this is easily rectified by just increasing glutamine intake, like from red meat, so there is that argument against her stance. She paddles softly by the way, not intensely. This is insane! I was having so many weird symptoms like heart palpitations, night sweats, pain in my feet upon standing, low energy, cold hands and fee and fibrocystic breasts since I was 18. I am 42 now. After 6 days of taking 4 drops of 2% iodine most of my symptoms are 99% resolved. I took the iodine loading test 2 years ago and was low in iodine. I supplemented with iodine but then stopped taking it for about a year. (I started listening to people who said iodine was bad for me) Thats when all my symptoms started to show up. I didn't change anything else except adding iodine recently and it was clear that it worked wonders for me! I already have a clean diet, no grains and no dairy and eating 90% whole foods. I finally feel amazing! My husband has started taking iodine now as well after he saw how it helped me. I am also giving a little to all my 4 kiddos.
Have you had your TSH tested lately? It sounds like it may have been out of whack when you went off iodine. Hopefully it's in the healthy range now!

Hey beware: thyroid and breast cancer are related to iodine deficiency. If you have one you are at higher risk for the other. I was having painful breasts too and the was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The breast pain continued, but once I did my research I started doing elemental iodine and the breast pain disappeared.
It is a crime the endocrinologist nor the gynecologist will tell you the connection.
Jesse you are truly one of the best, and most thorough interviewers in the health-through-good diet space. You do the background work and unlike some groups that have Dr. Bright come and speak now and then to a larger audience than just the interviewer, you are able to drill down on a given topic and get very thorough, complete answers particularly with professionals like Dr. Bright (and there are no interruptions from an audience that changes the thread of the conversation with every question each person asks, and which often shows very little prior understanding or research on the part of that audience member). Dr. Bright always astonishes me as do you too! You do your homework AND I love watching you as your brain processes what the guest (in this case, Dr. B.) is saying so that you know what else to ask next. Kudos to you. I baked 6 bone-in beef short ribs last night... on a grate in a pan (@300 for 3hrs). After the drippings cooled & solidified, I tasted the tallow and was blow away at how awesome it was (it had quite a bit of salt in it from my salt rub of the meat). I've been in this ridiculous habit of throwing the tallow out. My ancestors must be rolling in their graves.

@@robyn3349 lol... right. I was looking at the fat breakdown for tallow... 48% saturated, 49% monounsaturated... so the tiniest bit polyunsaturated (the most unstable). For cooking, tallow is basically pure energy without the oxidized polyunsaturated nonsense.
I'm making tallow right now. My butcher throws in a pile of fat for me at no cost. I make sure I buy plenty of goodies from him. He also carries 6lb slabs of sliced bacon with no sugar.
I cook big brisket with lots of fat on it. I strain the fat makes some times as much as 1 qt yellow. I make cornbread and biscuits with it and use it for multiple uses.
Such a good conversation. My mind has been spinning at all the supplements we get recommended to take. And it always leads to more, co factor for this and that. For months my mind, and my wallet, knew there had to be a better way to live. Trying to get down a bowl full of supplements just didn't feel right. And is a struggle on a fixed income.

National Institutes of Health states that iodine could replace antidepressants and also having a lack is responsible for miscarriage, autism and many other issues. When you first start supplementing with it, it feels like you're taking happy meds.

9 Years ago I started to become very blue - crying daily for no reason over months... I did some research and found I might have hypothyroidism (I had other symptoms as well - thinning of outer eyebrows, cold hands & feet)...during the process of finding an endocrinologist to test me, I started taking 1000 mcg daily (kelp) and within 2 weeks, my crying & blues faded away completely! Upon getting tested, I was considered normal but after doing my homework, realized my T3 was subclinically low so found a doctor who agreed and prescribed a low dose of Armour Thyroid. Anyway, I've been taking Iodine (predominantly kelp-based - 1153 mcg a day). Since then (now about 9 years), I've not been sick at all... no C19 (despite my husband having a mild case a couple of years ago)... I credit it with my consistent intake of that iodine! Of ALL the supplements I take (D3, Magnesium, Omega 3, MK7), it is the ONE that I have noticed any benefit (I assume the others are beneficial but I've not witnessed that)... I will NEVER not take iodine!!

I’m listening to this a second time because I always miss something. Dr Bright brings a lot of great information forward and I truly appreciate that.
As young child in the early 60’s, my dad always had a half a cow in the freezer, we ate meat and animal fats. We also ate garden produce, berries we picked, some oranges, apples and bananas throughout the growing season. We had some fermented foods in glass jars in a basement food cellar , frozen berries and veggies from the garden in the freezer. We also spent our days outside getting lots of sun and dark glowing suntans (when we were not in school because other than the occasional children or family show on our “black & white” tv) we were pretty much outside…year round. 😃.
Whew 😐 in saying all of the above …I 💯 believe that RFK Jr will fix the air, soil and water which I believe WILL BE worldwide because our air, water, soil has all been tampered with and adulterated AS is our cleaning and personal products. I’ve been doing organic and supplements for almost 36 years out of necessity 🙁
Even though I eat keto 50 g total carbs… I still eat some berries throughout the fall and winter with ferments, small amounts of veggies and cheese from Italy and YES even some grassfed Greek yogurt, goat kefir too. I believe 💯 I believe we are omnivores. I just started taking some iodine the last 4 months also.
I also 💯 believe (as I have often read) that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I believe our soil, air and food will get healed/fixed up.

When I first heard Elizabeth Bright talk about iodine a couple of weeks ago, I had a bad case of shingles that seemed like it would last a few weeks. But on the very day I started with 10 drops of 2% iodine, they began to get better and heal immediately. I knew it was the iodine.

When I was a girl the fat after cooking beef was always saved. We call it dripping in the UK. You can cook fries in dripping and they are absolutely delicious. We would also have toast and dripping, often with added salt on top. Obesity and diabetes were extremely rare then. We should never have demonised fat, and ate high carbs and low fat instead. That's when everyone started to get unhealthy.

Ok, I had Dr Bright's 1st book that recommended cheese, glad I listened to the end to see she did an update book and now says no dairy, except butter. Glad I came upon your video. I can't seem to get fat adapted and end up with the runs. Good video. I appreciate you asking questions from different directions and examples. Animal fat only. We need cholesterol. No tea of any color - has fluoride. Blocks iodine. Coffee ok - she does decaf. Oatmeal, flax seeds also prevent absorption of iodine. Lugol's 5% - maintenance of 2 drops only after recovery healing. She takes 6 drops a day - am between 6 and 9. Iodine and salt will pull halide toxins out of body. Iodine needs to be upped if fluoride, if go to a chlorine pools, etc. Iodine is a water soluble vitamin and excess will come out in pee.

I’m in the UK and get local lamb liver, it is great. Here’s two recipes. One chop liver into 1inch cubes sizes, add white pepper and cumin, hot grill for 5 or so minutes. Have with salt. Next recipe: put on a pizza either garlic and rosemary. Lamb liver pizza is a thing of beauty. Best combination of flavours.
Just a suggestion, be careful with the cumin because it comes from seeds. And seeds are high in oxalates. Just Google whether cumin has high in oxalates or not. And then you'll know

Halides have atomic weights. Basically the smaller it's weight, the smaller it's size. The smaller weight molecule displaces the larger molecule. Fluorine' weight is 19, the smallest of the four halides. Flourine will bump out all other halides in the body receptors. Next is Chlorine' weight of 35.5 then Bromine weight is 80 and last is Iodine' weight at 127. This is why exposure to any other halide will remove Iodine from the body. You will need to filter your water either by reverse osmosis or steam distilled to get the flouride out of the water. You can get a special filter to remove flourine specifically also. I was able to reverse my hypothyroid condition by using a solid carbon block filtration on my water source and putting in Lugol's along with raw apple cider vinegar into a drink. I'm a 200lb male at 72 years old. I take a tbsp of ACV and 10 drops of 2% Lugol's in a 18oz glass of the filtered water. I take this upon rising figuring that to be the best time to have my body to have detoxed and cleared from the previous day. Also get a flouride free toothpaste. All flour products have been bromated. Some organic flour might be bromate free, read the labels but that's no guarantee. Contact the company. As far as fats go, ruminate fat is king. The best source of those essential fatty acids of true A, true D, true K2. Olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil has none.
Superb information about animal fats. The iodine information great too. I have started taking Lugol's 2% iodine. Currently taking six drops per day.

Take it easy with lugols, iodine interferes with nitricoxide forming, a very important compound in the body.
@@nogames8982 I started with one drop a week. After a few weeks, I realized that the days I took the one drop I was feeling better than the rest of the week. So I went to one drop a day, so that I could feel good every day. Then recently, I tried two drops a day. That was good. So I jumped to five drops a day. Been doing 5 a day and my mood is so good, I am sleeping well and waking up on time in the morning.
If you want to know more I recommend you watch some RUclips videos with interviews of Dr David Brownstein. Or read Dr David Brownstein's book, "Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can't Live Without It". Another book, maybe less scientific but more about anecdotes shared by women, including how they dose the iodine, is "The Iodine Crisis" by Lynne Farrow.
Keep in mind I am taking Lugol's 2%. There are higher concentrations which have higher percentage. Another factor is I have kidney disease, so I am drinking a very large amount of water. A lot of my nutrition is just leaking out of my kidney.

Wow I've been watching different videos of hers and then this one she looks 10 to 15 years younger than the earlier videos. Amazing! And she's spot on. Really truly knows her stuff and way more than the average physician.. but like she said she's been studying and researching for years. And started putting the pieces together when comparing it to dealing with her own immediate family as well. There is something to be said for education and something to be said for life experience!

“High” iodine doses might very well be worrisome; a couple drops or even 6 while having high cortisol might not qualify 🤞

William Davis is implicitly referring to the issue that a high intake of iodine is problematic unless you take sufficient quantities of selenium as a cofactor to go with it. Iodine and selenium are both fundamental for thyroid function. Too much of one element can cause a deficiency in the other resulting in thyroid issues. You can get selenium very easily from meat and brazil nuts (like 3-5 brazil nuts should do the job).
Elizabeth Bright is a carnivore so should get a good deal of selenium from red meat so maybe doesn't mention its importance for that reason. Hope that helps dispel some confusion.

It's true what she said about supplements. I am carnivore for 11 months. So no need for supplements. But I was taking b12 and the bloodwork # was in the thousands. I stopped it bc runinant meat is all I need.
I did 3 weeks of iodine detoxification and now I am supplementing because this only made me realise how deficient Our bodies are in this crucial element.
Can you explain the detox you used?
We luckily have "red" tea called "rooibos" which is made from a shrub in South Africa which is not related to any eastern tea. It has no caffeine and tastes great without any sweetener
But the soil it is grown in might have floride which inhibits the absorption of iodine by the body

Is 3 drops of J. Crows iodine a day too much? I have stared taking it. I am 80 had half my thyroid years ago. I got a Got a goiter years ago. I have never eaten much fish. Doc wanted to remove my thyroid immediately this is when I was 60 I’m now 80 I said no way don’t you have iodine pills or something I can take to see if it will go away? Oh no we have to take it out. So I started using ionized salt again. Not kidding!! It was gone in a month maybe less. Looked in the mirror one day and it was gone I’m not kidding. It was gone. I now put iodized salt on my food and I don’t use a lot of salt because I have high blood pressure. It doesn’t take much. I no longer trust Doctors like I did. it’s just very sad what has happened in this country USA and what they are doing to us and all over the world. So I’m now supplementing with iodine drops.
It’s water soluble so your body will excrete what it doesn’t need. She takes 6 drops a day so do I.

Please switch from table salt to a good clean Himalayan salt. Keep up with Iodine! There are protocols to increase iodine slowly until your body has all it needs, after that you can do your 3 drops to maintain. Look for book by Dr Mark Sircus ❤

Im glad now i eat 6 eggs a day, that's a full supply of iodine for the day. Also only 3 oz of shrimp has 23% of daily iodine, i eat a big bowl twice a week no iodine issues.
You need more because of halides in the environment we live in now days
you may want to supplement, not only are we heavily exposed to halides but the recommended daily allowance (RDA) values are way too low.. every cell needs it, not just the thyroid..

It's been 14 months of eating carnivore and no weight loss so I'm going to cut my meat down to 4 ounces a day and one stick of butter a day .I was eating 1 pound to 1and a half pounds of meat and 4 tablespoons of butter a day . I'm going to try and eat less meat and more butter
It should work . Another thing that you could try is fasting, a longer time without eating, without any insulin release could help you burning fat
You probably weren't eating enough tbh. I recommend eating 2 lbs a day and see if it helps. Your body can hang on to weight if you're not getting enough nutrients.

I agree with almost all the content in this episode, but one small nuance that I think needs to be explained… according to David Brownstein (one of the most iodine literate people on the planet) he has found in the lab over 20 years that Chloride will not competitively compete with iodine in the body. Because even though it is a halide, it has its own receptors in the body Salt is also NaCl (sodium chloride) which Elizabeth acknowledge is indeed critical to healthy human cell biochemistry. Drank raw milk all my life. Eat meat, eggs & consume unpasteurised milk & some unpasteurised cheese. Also unpasteurised butter. At 65 never had any real health issues, don't understand "inflammation" as I've never experienced it.

I’m around a week into taking it and am bloated, having diarrhoea and some headaches. I also have a metallic taste in my mouth, I’m almost certain I’m detoxing heavy metals through the iodine and it will balance out. I’m 100% lion diet carnivore, 3 months In.
I react to grass fed (not grass finished) beef but not lamb. Right now, I just stick with lamb, fish, some chicken and duck, all high quality. If i could access grass fed and grass finished ethically raised beef, i would give that a go. I was vegan and have been reincorporating meat to heal my autoimmune and fatigue stuff

Of course. She has an extreme diet and it works for her, but you can get your soil tested and do what works for you. Always trust your body’s reactions and results over what anyone else says.

I have been curious about the pool thing. I’ve been attending water cardio classes at the health club three times a week during the winter. When I take my suit out of the dryer, it reeks of chlorine, despite rinsing it in the shower before I come home. So basically, we’re all just steeping in this stuff at least three hours a week, plus time in the Jacuzzi. I’m already taking a few drops of Lugol’s daily, but do you have further recommendations? Lugol’s and salt protocol?
I would stop going to the pool..sorry but I feel that is what started me on Low thyroid..from childhood. California pool in the backyard.. hours and hours.. ended up with multiple miscarriages ( 3) at 18 years of age and one more later.. plus all the other symptoms..TSH 11, 14, 18, up to 200 when I tried to stop levothyroxine..full blown Mixadema..and I wasn’t taking any iodine..now on a lower carb diet.. heading towards carnivore..and just starting Lugols.. just noticed the bottle I have is 2% not 5% so I need to get a new bottle.

Definitely. It’s a more whole food source of the nutrient which is always better than isolated nutrients.

I am going to try Lugol's. However, I seriously disagree with her about vitamin D. First, I cannot eat fatty meat because it makes me nauseous. I do eat a lot of dairy. My vitamin D level is very low without supplementation. I take a statin, which also inhibits vitamin D synthesis. I am a big supplement user and I know vitamin supplements have improved my health. When I added K2 MK-7 my A1c dropped from 5.4 to 5.0 and has stayed there. I do have multiple thyroid nodules and will try Lugol's and see if it helps. My TSH is only in the 1.5 range, so no hypo- or hyperthyroidism.

Can you please recommend the rigjt Iodine to supplement and dose? I have hypothyroidism and take 50mg daily Thyroxine but I am DESPERATE to stop taking this and to instead supplement. I have started getting regular palps too, and am convinced this is all related. I was told a few years ago I have thyroiditis and my thyroid sometimes gets tender to touch. I do eat cheese and drink milk and love broccoli and cauliflower and I'm addicted to tea 😫 From today I'm swopping for coffee but what recommdations for the other foodstuffs? I'm confused about what is ok and not ok to consume. I want this problem resolved through nutrician not big pharma 🙏🙏🙏

What does Dr. Bright think about eating seaweed as a good source of dietary iodine.. I have had it recommended by other RUclips channels but I though the seaweed also has a lot of toxins in it like heavy metals etc

Chicken liver actually has a better nutrient profile. Beef liver is higher in things like iron, etc. But chicken liver has all the B vitamins and more.

When you no longer have a gallbladder, you CAN NOT BREAK DOWN ANY FATS. I've tried taking an ox bile due supplement, but my stomach KILLS me with pain when I do so. The information on disease causation by A1 Milk was activity ‘Suppressed’ and intentionally misrepresented by the powers that be of the day. Professor Woodford, in order to discredit this deliberate misrepresentation (in order to maintain the disease causing status quo) had to retrieve this suppressed info via the Official Information Act
I live in the US and have been using A1 products for about a year. I actively seek out better food choices because I’m so unhappy with our food system. I now see more and more A1 products appearing on the shelves at our better stores. I think more and more people will notice them and seek out more information on its benefits. My fear is that they will somehow screw up the Guernsey cows for profits.

mBC here. I’ve been following Thomas Seyfried’s protocol of eliminating glucose & taking green tea to block cancer’s other favorite fuel, glutamine. I’ve been using a fluoride-free toothpaste but have been drinking tea all my life. Is it possible to remove the fluoride from my body ?
If Dr Bright said she was 82, instead of 62, then I'd consider supplementing with Iodine. But the way it stands, I haven't come across any Iodine advocates who appear convincing enough. And then Ray Peat says most people are too high in Iodine, and for the most part their thyroid problems are related to estrogenic factors in their environment. This is too confusing.
Why does Dr Bright say that too much exercise is bad, and then mention she paddled 8km the other day? How much is too much?
I like Dr Bright, and believe she means well. But I'm not convinced.
Ray Peat is speaking from the perspective that iodine is "bad for you" so you should only take it in very small amounts that most people actually end up exceeding. Jesse brings up this iodine fear with Elizabeth Bright and she does specifically address this issue. I think a balanced viewpoint from the research is that there is a lot of benefit to iodine when combined with selenium (from red meat and brazil nuts).
Ray is right about the estrogen imitators that disrupt hormonal activity but again Elizabeth addresses this very issue and recommends increasing the dose of iodine to overwhelm this competition in the body. She recommends 6 drops a day for this reason and calls it the "iodine shield".
As for the exercise piece, "too much" means intense exercise. This is controversial since many benefit from it while others do suffer inflammation from the stress of it, like glutamine depletion and the gut issues therewith. Obviously, this is easily rectified by just increasing glutamine intake, like from red meat, so there is that argument against her stance. She paddles softly by the way, not intensely.
