Chris said in interview before he sang the anthem that he was a little worried because the anthem is hard to sing. Folks wondered if he could do it. Well, I guess we all know HE COULD AND HE DID! Thank you Chris for uniting us. Thank you Jen for your reaction. May God bless you always.
I don't know how he could question himself on his ability to sing this. He killed it and provoked such an emotional response which I think is hard for singers right now because of the climate of society.
😮😮😮 people wondered if he could do it ??? WHAT ??? I had NO DOUBT !!!
My favorite Nat'l Anthem performance ever -- so much soul and artistry from this man
Right!?! So moving!
@@JenniferGlatzhofer He doesn't open his mouth much because he is already a very loud singer. His wife said he has to be careful with mics because he is so loud so he closes his mouth so he doesn't over power the mic. She said he is a such a loud singer that he could sing in a church without a mic and be clearly heard.
One thing Peter is that he didnt try and make it his song and about him. He sung it like it should be.
Chris Stapleton’s rendition has been my favorite of all time. It was so raw and emotional. The man can sing the phone book.
Amazing performance and not a dry face in the stadium. So much feeling and soul in the song. Loved it🤙🏽🤙🏽😎😎
For sure!!❤️
Chris is in such a magic zone lately. Everything he touches turns to gold. God bless him and his family. I hope this keeps going for him for a long time.
I cry every time I see a reaction because for those few moments of his angelic version of The National Anthem made me feel American and free like I haven’t felt in years. His version is the best to me because he touches me every time I hear it!!
Have to agree, with the current Administration I had lost hope...then Chris does this and I feel like an American again, what a wonderful rendition...hope is alive.
Every single time
Even as a German I could not help but shed a tear. I reckon that this has been the most American rendition I have ever hear, if that makes sense
As an American who has German roots, yes it is. lol
Makes perfect sense.
You would be right. Every grateful American is in tears, every… single… time. As a vet, it’s incredible to hear every feeling. And even if you’re not, you feel it in your bones
I love that Chris brought his own special Chris-ness to it, but didn't overdo the vocal acrobatics. Everyone tries to "make it their own," when, in fact, it is not. It belongs to all Americans. He doesn't have anything to prove and it shows in his lack of making this tribute about himself. He was tasteful, respectful, let the song shine and the words breathe. But it was still unmistakeably and beautifully Chris. He does seem so laid back that it cracks me up, like he could just be hanging out on his porch with a bunch of friends on a Friday night with his guitar. He had to be nervous, but I didn't feel nervous for him, as I do most people. Whether people like the quality of his voice or his style or not, I hope they saw the love with which it was delivered. Beautiful breakdown, Jen!
FINALLY, someone singing our National Anthem with appropriate passion. Superb.
Thanks for your reaction to this marvelous event, from a USA veteran and veteran spouse!! Incredible performance!! 🇺🇸
Thanks for your service to you and your spouse. I'm happy to recognize all vets. Vietnam 1971-1972.
Yes, Chris's performance was great.
The best anthem performance I've ever seen.
Chris does something magical to souls
Chris Stapleton hands down won the Super Bowl national anthem battle.
So much emotion in his voice.
AS MARINE IN THE IRAQ WAR WHEN I SAW HIS PERFORMANCE IN THE SUPERBOWL MY CHEST SWELLED WITH PRIDE AND MY EYES TEARED UP AND I LOOKED TO THE HEAVENS AND THANKED THE LORD FOR MAKING ME AN AMERICAN 🪖🇺🇸
As a American this song is very special to us and Chris did the thing when a artists brings a heart felt tear to the American people and he did it bravo Chris. Great reaction.
Stunning!! There are 2 artists that I primarily listen to. Chris Stapleton and Home Free!! I'm so proud of Chris!! A fellow Kentuckian!!
Loved his rendition. He did an amazing job. Thank You !!! 🔥🦋🔥
Chris Stapleton sings Fire Away the video makes me cry .His voice adds to this video. Wow 😮
I feel like Chris is like beyond all the Vocal coaches 🤣🤣🤣…Cause im not even an American, but this makes me cry..Dats all u need as a vocalist or an artist
Can we talk about how “Gave proof” was the best part? When he sang the word Gave, it was like a roaring lion… with an amazing roaring voice
I thought Chris Stapleton was a great choice to sing The National Anthem and he did not disappoint. Every singer is different and by default will bring their unique voice to this song of such incredible significance. I personally feel like this was one of the best Super Bowl National Anthem performances to date, along with Whiney Houston's performance. This was incredibly respectful and I love the simplicity of just his voice and his Telecaster with such a bluesy feeling. "Gallantly streaming" @ 4:19 gives me goosebumps every time! I absolutely love the ending he chose. Every time I listen to it, I get the feel of an ending to a southern gospel song with "aaaayy-mennnn" @ 10:42.
If they had shown more of the people in the stands, you would see that most probably were singing, hands over hearts, hats off, often with emotion. I think a lot of people were emotional and said "yes!" to the "all women flyover" at the end, an historical first and exciting to witness!
Thanks for sharing this one. ❤
So wonderful to see and yes to the all women flyover!! ❤️
The all woman flyover was to celebrate 50 years of woman in naval aviation
So happy you reacted to this….I thought he did an amazing job 💕
Yes!😁
Chris did a perfect job. The national anthem is one song that you are NOT supposed to “make your own”. You’re simply supposed to… just sing it and sing it well. And that he did… perfectly. One of the best performances of the anthem I’ve ever heard.
he really made people cry...loved his performance...this time around the SuperBowl midtime show was also quite good....🔥🔥😊😊
I love watching a vocal coach analyze Chris. He's never had a vocal lesson. Sometimes there are people who just pours out of. All the others can do is hang their head and cry.
I cried when this was played at my bootcamp graduation and when i heard him sing this version....the only 2 times
This is about the 5th reaction to this I've seen today, plus the original superbowl performance and I'm still crying
My father (RIP dad) never really liked any deviation from the straight tune of our national anthem (To Anacreon in Heaven). Somehow, I think he'd make an exception for Mr. Stapleton.
It takes that kind of rendition by Chris to put kneeling back where it belongs.
Great reaction Jen! A very moving performance. IMO, one of the best renditions of the National Anthem.
Best version everrrrrrr
There is glorious freedom in your choice of attire.
Once again another great reaction Jennifer. Keep up the great reactions. I get goosebumps everytime I watch him sing this.
Thank you!
Great reaction, im a huge Chris Stapleton fan, he did a fantastic cover. Emotional & I'm not even American 😢 🥰
I went over to my parents’ house to watch that game with them. We all sat down with some just-out-of-the-oven pizza. When they announced that Chris was going to perform, I sat up in my seat. I felt like it was about to be very good. My folks had no idea who he was, and after he had finished, I tried to point out how stylized his singing was, so much his own thing. Don’t know if they got it, but I think selecting him was an excellent choice.
Best ever.
I believe you are the best reactor ( could not find a better word for this context 😂😂 ). I love your channel and honest reactions. This was a masterpiece by Chris - this rendition of his and that of the late great Whitney Houston during the gulf war will go down as the two best national anthems ever sung at a sporting event. I loved your review of Cakra Khan doing Tennesse Whiskey - I love how you randomly hit the keys on the keyboard next to you - fabulous
Chris Stapleton voice is so rustic and raspy that is defined as country artist. Moving, very moving.
For sure!
@@JenniferGlatzhofer : can you react to Givin’ up on You by Home Free. Every video of you do ( Penatatonix, Home Free, Voiceplay) because I learned a lot from You.
He has a mix of country. Soul. And blues. Not a typical country artist.
@@cjstats1514 : which I love
@@deanmarion5477 I agree!
WE.. AMERICANS, LOVE, LOVE THIS!! Stay in your lane.
He can pull off those vocal gymnastics in his upper register, in full voice. Check out Sometimes I Cry, live at the Bing Lounge.
There are some stylistic choices he makes that I don't like sometimes. However, he is such a walking soul of a man, that nothing else really matters. I didn't cry, but I got instant goosebumps down my neck, back and my whole left hand 😄
Now this was a straight up A performance by a great singer! There was no bunch of added vocals like we've all heard before and just a great rendition of the Star Spangled Banner which makes you want to stand up and be proud of the country you're living in or at least it should!
Cris Stapleton gave this a much more laid back feeling than what I have heard from other renditions. It's a feeling what I would expect from Chris Stapleton, but not what I expected from the national anthem.
I experienced it as contemplative, as well as "laid back".
I love those fly overs. Definitely a truly American thing.
being a country music fan , iwas scared how it would go.it was so amazing, im so happy.WOW!!!!!!!
I have not commented in a while. I am to busy crying at the moment to make an informed account of this performance. You my dear made a great analysis, and even Tho my typing is slowed down by arthritis I had to comment. God Bless America and God Bless Jen
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome weekend ❤️
Chris Stapleton has terrible stage fright, so singing the National Anthem must have been something that he really wanted to perform. He knocked it out of the park! (Oh wait, that’s baseball…).
Maybe the best ever performance of the national anthem!
I'm absolutely obsessed with vocal coach reactions to the Star Spangled Banner performances. Could you react to Luther Vandross's rendition? I suspect Luther's rendition has gone very much under the radar. I have Stapleton's version as my favourite alongside Whitney Houston's, but Luther's rendition is beautiful also.
I typically don't like a lot of the stylized versions of the anthem, but it's hard not to Like Chris Stapleton no matter what he sings. Great performance. Also, it's great to see Troy Kotsur provided the ASL translation!
Great job on the anthem...........................
Chris did AWESOME job! Love Whitney's too. They are just so different, I don't have a pick. I love both.
Whitney held the crown for this song forever it seems. CHRIS took it to a whole new level I my opinion. Really like how he added the guitar to it as only he could. You hold the crown sir.
I've watched my fair share of this video. That said, you Jennifer bring something new with your analysis. Thx
Thank you!
I always appreciate seeing British reactors analyzing our national anthem... I know here the history of the lyrics is taught... but pretty sure it is not elsewhere... the lyrics are essentially telling the story of the British Navy's night long bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812..... Thank you Jennifer... Love your channel, and love your reactions...
Loved your discussion of this.
Great to see, not an over the top reaction, honesty is a virtue.
It's funny, I belt this out, and I don't get the same reviews. ;-)
Singing songs was easy, 20 years ago....my wife looks at me askew now.
I bet, you've might never seen the word askew.
And, that is why I am awesome.
All the best to you.
Cheers.
Just had to pause a few seconds in to say your YGSF art rules!! Love to see it!
Ah thanks!!
Jenn, I would encourage you to listen to Chris sing, “Sometimes I Cry” at the Bing Lounge. It’s just him, “live” with a well worn Gibson acoustic guitar. His passionate delivery could possibly require a tissue.
Delightful reaction, Jen :D
Thank youuu😁
Chris did an excellent job at the Super bowl, and Pentatonix did a great job at the College National Championship game, you should check that one out as well Jen. Great job on the channel.
Such a gorgeous rendition, and so different from most of them!
I'm curious, have you ever heard Whitney Houston's iconic Super Bowl performance of it (I want to say 1991)? If you're interested in people taking the song in new and interesting directions, you don't want to miss that one. (She didn't shift the genre the way Stapleton did, but she played with the time signature, gave it her own flare, and basically Whitney'd the crap out of it in a really beautiful way.)
Thanks for your reaction!
Hi Jenn! So I'm now reacting to this reaction video for the second or third time (I'm definitely a big fan of yours, so I watch most of your vids multiple times) and yet just noticed that somehow I must have accidentally hit the 👎, rather than my (obviously) intended 👍...so sorry for having possibly thrown off your stats for this video but it has MOST DEFINITELY been corrected now! Like I said, big fan so please keep doing your thing in the excellent way you always do, girl! Much love!
Oh thank you ahah!
I really loved that walk down on the bass notes of the guitar near the end…..🤘🏼
Have you reacted to Jorgan Dahl Moe doing “dancing in the dark” on the voice Norway ? Pretty wild….
You should react to his original stuff he goes places you would not believe lol. He'll take you on a ride that doesn't end.
I think he cemented his spot up at the top with Whitney Houston. An amazing job with our ONLY anthem.
Hey, Jenn. Feel free to go down the Chris Stapleton rabbit hole. LOTS to hear and react to.
There can be no doubt that God touched his vocal cords!!!
Since your last reaction to 4th Impact they have released two originals that they wrote themselves.
The first is titled Here We Go official music video on their RUclips channel. It is a vocal, fashion, and dance showcase!!
The second is titled Tapat Sa'yo Visualizer on their channel. It is one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking songs I have ever heard. I had tears in my eyes before I even noticed the lyrics!!!
I hope you will take a look at the sisters original music. Thank you!!!
Until now, I had no idea how our National Anthem was recognized all over the world!!!
Whitney Houston and Chris Stapleton are the 2 BEST performers to EVER do The Star Spangled Banner at the SUPER BOWL, EVER. A lot of performers have done it, and Most have done a great performance. But NEVCER as strongly as Whitney and Chris did. Great Post, Jenn.
Chris Stapleton and Whitney Houston are the 2 best national anthems ever. You can't rate one over the other because they are both incredible and Iconic. Its kinda like comparing Mozart to Bach. This is coming from a 57 year old white guy from Houston who loves country music and rock. i went and watched Whitney again after Crying my eyes out from watching Chris sing this. this brings me back to a time when we actually loved our country and proud to be Americans.
You need to check out Cold by Chris
The version from the 2021 country music awards.
Jennifer! Well honesty I'd like to hear him perform something other than the national anthem. I am old school on this. I prefer the national anthem to be sung straight up with reverence, not with stylistic choices. As someone else mentioned, you can't make the national anthem your own. It belongs to every citizen of the United States. Though, to be honest I'd not want someone to improv to God Save the King (I assume the title is that now that the Queen has passed?) either. All this said, I can appreciate the artistry Chris brings to his music (8 Grammys!) and I'd love to hear it applied to a more appropriate song! Oh my ... the flyover! It was all women pilots! Did you catch that at 13:22 as Chris finished? Awesome reaction and analysis as always Jennifer! 😊 And ... I love the nails! 💅
That’s a fair point. I personally love hearing an artist make a song their own. But we all have our own opinions 😊 and my connection to your national anthem is obviously very different! And yes, so great! Thank you 😁
@@JenniferGlatzhofer just to be clear, I'm quite alright with artists doing covers of other songs and making it their own. An extreme example ... what David Draiman and Disturbed did with Simon and Garfunkel's Sound of Silence. Absolute genius! I can understand why someone from England might not have the same connection with the U.S. national anthem due to the history. 😁 But c'mon now it has been nearly 250 years ... let it go! 😅
Look up Tennessee Whiskey to really see Chris showcase. This is extremely restrained for him because he was doing his best to treat the song with respect. Also, I do appreciate your point about reverence, but unless you've got a choir for the National Anthem, straight up can feel very flat affect to me, reading, rather than reciting.
Well, besides ripping my heart out...I hope the Female Fighter Pilots heard Him as they flew by...
Chris crushed it. As usual.Kentucky strong. Great job Jennifer.
I love the fourth verse.
Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand,
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation.
Blessed with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land,
Praise the Power that has raised and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause, it is just,
And this be our motto, In God is our trust.
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
check out sometime "Star Spangled Banner As You've Never Heard It" to really understand
Note ridgily note for note, but you know he meant it. God Bless America !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep this is the standard. As a service member it has to be the best I have heard yet. Also, maybe out of respect for our anthem, let it play through without your commentary. at least once. I dare say that if you were to post a song that was dear to you... I doubt you would like it disected until after the first listen through.
Glatzhofer? Most German name ever, were are you from?
Out of body experience
I HEAR REDCOATS!!!
With all due respect. The National Anthem should be listened to with no interruption. Then you can make your commentary. As an American pauses seem to take away the feeling this artist is trying to portray. I love you program. Keep up the good work. Thanks.

Kindly, do not pause the national anthem.
That our flag was still there. You can't not not sing through that stance.
Sometimes vocal coaches get so sucked in by the vocals that they forget to talk about the emotions that the singing engenders. What's the point of singing after all?
She's cute...
Love to see reactions but perhaps saving your analysis for after one run-through.
To you Whitney fans check this out.... Josh Weathers at The Kessler Theater in Dallas, Texas ................LMK what you think
