Had my licence for years... still haven't done this since passing. This video has given me the confidence to try though! I'm sick of walking a street length to my kid's nursery bevause I'm too scared to park closer 😂
i have a driver license since i was 16y old (the government had to let me pass driver license test and give me license at young age because the school of auto mechanics i finished required driving license to issue the certificate), i passed the tests and got my driver license without a problem back then, but i had no chance to drive a car up until recently when i bough a new car... but since i am 36y old now and more aware and more careful and overthinking way more than i was at young age, i had tons of fear about driving now... luckily i found your channel and watched almost all of your videos and easily started driving again without any problem using your techniques and tricks. and i am from Macedonia where we drive on the right side, but again your videos were really helpful :) thanks for the great content and for sharing your knowledge and techniques with us all, keep up the great work and best wishes.
Passed 3 months ago and had no issues with parallel parking until I’d actually passed.. I live on a main road and always need to fit in gaps like this while traffic waits for me at rush hour. It’s a-lot different from doing it on an empty street like I did on my driving lessons and I feel the added pressure. Hopefully It’ll come easier with practice! Thanks for the video! Very helpful
This is exactly how i feel! No issues in driving lessons because the road is always empty with lots of space, but after passing my test I don't even bother 😢
Yes, I haven`t done parallel parking after I got my driving lisence, because my car doesn`t have the parking back camera and parking sensors like the car I drove on my driving course
The explanation of the 45 degrees angle and the cue of spotting half the face of the car at the back in your right mirror is going to be very helpful because there are no lines or pavements to look for where I live. Thanks.
Thank you for this video. I’ve only had my licence for 6 months and I felt embarrassed just now when I had to shuffle back and forth a lot to get into a tight spot. Now I will remember your advice and not worry about shuffling when it’s needed 😀
Thank you from Melbourne. I passed my drive test, bought a car but not confident to reverse park and drive in freeways. All your videos are very helpful.
I'm learning with my instructor and watching many RUclips videos about parallel parking so I can tell this has been the most detailed, insightful explanation I've ever watched. Thanks so much!
I’m not sure if it’s because your easy to listen to, but hearing you say not to risk backing into the car behind you, when parallel parking, is great advice. Playing it safe when driving is the best thing you can, and should do.
Very clear instructions. Thank you for showing the actual view in the mirror, I find that it makes me more comfortable to gauge how to maneuver the car as a driver rather than just the step-by-step instructions that driving schools sometimes offer.
I did my first reverse parallel park today in a spot roughly 2 car lengths and unluckily the spot I was getting into, was inclined towards the curb. So gravity made it a little harder for me but eventually, the tips I learned from your videos helped me! Thank you!
i found ur english speaking is the best in all instructors, i wish i stay ur area, u r teaching proper good, ur english pronouncasion is soo clear word by word, i drive with my intructor two hours of time and i dont understand what he is saying in most of the time cus he is speaking soooo fast and i cant catch and even i dont know what he is talking about most of the time, i mentioned twice to speak slove wird by word and use easy english words but not , sadly people says he is one of the best instructor in my area, so i will watch ur videos and drive his car i think this what i can do for now
It's like you read my mind! Finally an informative video of parking in tight spaces which is the reality in London and something I have no confidence in. Will try this for sure. You are a gem Richard appreciate the detailed help you always give out on your channel.
been driving for a year bt not so confident about this parking since i really didnt have to do this parking. ur videos helped me before my test and after a year it is still helping me thank you 😍
I passed in January, I needed to chalk up on my skills since I’ve barely drove due to high insurance. I’m glad you cover pretty much everything in your channel, thanks Richard!
Parallel parking on a narrow street has always been daunting. This video helped me a lot to overcome my fears and further enhance my ability to park within a tight space. Thanks a lot for sharing this.
I learned this naturally after watching a bunch of "French Parking" videos. But having someone to guide on doing this is helpful. Thanks for the video.
I finally parallel parked today on my own by watching this video several times. I cannot thank you enough! 15 hours of driving school but I learned more from this 6-minute video.
thank you so much!! today i did my first parking alone and made it thanks to that video and the techniques!!!! i feel so much more confident and im so glad that you posted this very helpful video
I just passed and brought my first car, really struggling to parallel park on busy London streets! Good video, gonna pop out and give it a go when its quiet!
This is the best video of reverse parallel parking!!! Clearly explanation, useful reference points and real life small space situation....I love it all ❤
I passed my test 6 months ago. When I was learning, I was able to parallel park. After passing I would always park far from the curb. Thank you for this video. I watched it once, then went and put it all into practice. And it worked!! Thank you so much!
This is extremely helpful! I cannot thank you enough for these videos, they're genuinely so useful especially after having a huge break from diving lessons because of lockdown! 👍
Thank you very much for this. I've been driving for almost a month and been watching a lot of your videos all this time. The benefits are immediately noticeable each time I hit the road. Thank you very much, please never stop making videos.
Thanks for video. New driver here. Passsd couple of months back. Just parked my car and caught the wing mirror. Prior to that haven’t really done any parallel parking other than on lessons. Seemed to have forgotten a little bit this has helped me refresh myself. Hopefully next time I will be better.
I have been struggling when I park far from curve, i couldn't fix it properly but after seeing ur video(You call it shuffling) ,now I know how to reduce the gap between the curve and tyres. Thanks 👍
I was taught like many others empty space behind the vehicle I only passed two weeks ago, wing mirror aligned with front door handle one turn in till the road disappeared then full lock….. but that doesn’t work in tight spaces I managed to get into a space tonight but was sheer excruciating but I did automatically do some of the things you said but now I feel more confident at the process involved 🎉❤thankyoy 😁
Passed in April and have watched alot of your vids after I passed. I watched this hours before I set off to drive to central London because I knew I had to do tight parallel parking there. This video was soo helpful!!! I am usually so rubbish at parallel park but pretty much got in 1st attempt! Thank you soo much !!!!
Your videos help me a lot. You are the best teacher. Your explanation is more understandable then my instructor sitting next to me all the time. I have done all my lessons covering in 14 hours because of you. I took additional 8 lessons only to be perfect which I never driven before. My instructor told me I am ready in only 14 hours. I am going to take test in February wish me a good luck
I didn't have my lessons for nearly 3 months and today finally we resumed it. It was a bit awkward at the beginning - silly me forgot, where gas pedal is🤣 it was ok after first 10 min though) BUT! I wanted to say massive thank you to you for posting this video, I used to struggle with the parallel parking, but today I used your tips and it worked perfectly!!! Thank youuu🤩
Thanks for all the videos. I am going to be traveling to UK in May - from Kolkata, India. Your videos are very useful. And, by the way, that tight space between two cars, in Indian standards, is VERY comfortable! 😀😀😀
I was wonderfing if you could do a video about parallel parking in a narrow road, particularly when there are cars parked on either side with very little room to manouver the car into a 45 degree angle. Thank you for all the wonderfully instructive videos you post. Much appreciated.
Hi, I love your videos. I’ve been driving for 20 years but just recently bought a manual car and I’ve been watching your videos and learning a lot. I haven’t found anything that helps me with my issue. I need to reverse up my driveway and then back into my garage. That seems to be my biggest issue right now. I get to the bite point and the car gets going but if I give too much gas it goes fast and if I don’t give enough, it goes forward. I feel like I’m going to wear the clutch. The other worry is reversing into a flat parking spot without going too fast
These tips are way more helpful than most out there, but its still a pretty large space for big cities. Wish there were instruction videos for actually tight spaces
Thanks for this , got my test on the 15th July and this was something I needed to work on and was struggling as each time I did it it was either good or terrible. This made it so much easier and clearer for me and allowed for me to get more consistent results !
Interesting, always more than one way to skin... What I do is, looking round I aim the corner of the car to the middle of the space, then I usually continue this course just a little bit more than my own judgement (I don't know why, but otherwise I end too far from the curb) before straightening. Works every time!!
Thanks for the video mate. My instructor is trying to get my parallel parking done as I have my Practical in about two weeks time, this is the parking I'm strugeling with so this should help me when on my lessons. :)
another gud way to tell if ur close to the curb or not is when the front cars license plate or the logo intersects in the middle of ur front window.for judging the back i always rely on my parking sensor and camera guidelines.for judging the 45 degree, i use my B pillar when it aligns with the back tail light of the front car it means im already at 45degree. and i think u have to see the full car(back one) with a lil space in ur wing mirror for confirmation of adding the 45 degree. specially if the space is very tight u need to be at a sharper angle for entering the space.if the back car is way far back then u will see the full car even before completing the 45degree. thats wat i notice from my experience.so there is no hard n fast rule of using reference points just use ur own judgement that will help.
Just watched this video. Great video I have been struggling w parallel parking since I started driving. The other day I spent nearly half an hour trying to get in to a space and I still couldn't and I think by now my new neighbours probably thinks am crazy the way I was screaming at my car 😄😄. And after I have moved away, some guy came and parked a whole van in the same space 😲 so the space wasn't small it's just that I couldn't. And watch this video I just realised what have been doing wrong. When i leveled with the car am parking next to, Am too far back into to the space am going into so this leaves me with less space to get in. And it's great to know am not the only one telling my reverse sensors to shut up! 🤣🤣🤣
3:12 - An alternative is to do what Gru does in Despicable Me, and simply ram the other cars out of the way. Very effective at increasing wiggle room, but your insurance might go up and your neighbours may slightly hate you for it. Also, could you make a video on merge in turns? I find it difficult to judge whether to slow down or speed up, or tell what other drivers are doing/want me to do.
Never had a problem to reverse park during my driving lesson. Once I passed and got my own car things changed 😂😂😂 have to relearn to park in tighter spaces, with no reverse camera. It takes me 1000 moves probably but I can't risk hitting other cars. The spaces are incredibly small too, and even if my car is small, I still struggle at the moment. I'm here to learn lol
Hi conquer driving, Richard Fenders i love your videos very useful, wish i had a driving instructor like you, very good. Also FYI you remind me of a young freddie mercury from Queen in his younger days without the moustache, love freddie mercury big fan of his music especially when he was in Queen, kindest regards cherelle
How big of a space would you need to just drive into without the need for parallel parking? Also passed my test yesterday in no small part thanks to this channel 🥳
Thank god someone finally did a parallel park video in a realistic space! All of the other videos have spaces you could park a bus in.
Lmao fr they do it in flat empty areas with perfectly parked cars and stuff
so true 😂

It takes me 1000 moves probably but I can't risk hitting other cars. The spaces are incredibly small too, and even if my car is small, I still struggle at the moment. I'm here to learn lol
Thankyou so much for this second video on parallel parking these reference points have really helped ☺️👍
I just adore this video. Needed to say it.
Thank you for your great videos. This particular video gave me the solid understanding for parallel parking👏👏👏
Watching this video when I passed my test over 5 years ago 😢😂 got to bite the bullet and try to get better at parallel parking at some point!
Thank you brother 👍🏽I was looking video like this very straight forward and easy to understand
Also passed my test yesterday in no small part thanks to this channel
🥳
About three times to length of your car should do it. Congratulations on passing!
Thanks.. You did this in a real situation.
