    You've no idea how this "left knee" thing has helped me! I've used this every time since I saw this video a few days ago, and this absolutely works for me! I passed my test a month ago, but I did not do lessons in the car I'm driving right now. So while I was able to park well in my instructor's car, I could not do the same in my own one. But I have improved a ton by using what you say in this video - thank you! 😅

    I don’t whether you’ll see this Richard, but I just want to thank you for sharing your vast knowledge and experience on driving.
    I’ve been learning to drive since August last year. Every lesson seemed tedious, I felt as if I was going nowhere , I felt so incapable of driving and never pictured myself passing , It was like walking through a tunnel which had no glimmer of light at the end.
    And then, was there was no inch of hope left, your channel stumbled along my dark path and I am now such a driver that I could never have believed I would ever be, all thanks to you.
    Thanks so much Richard, I could never tell you how much I appreciate all your help.
    I know you’ve helped countless souls out there learn to drive🙏🏻
    Keep up the great work Richard, and once again, THANK YOU 🙏🏻💙

    Something I find really helpful is reminding yourself that you're not making corrections, you are simply adjusting your position for the perfect park. It's not "I've turned too late and now I need to reverse awkwardly", it's "Next step, reposition. All according to plan".

    Richard, I’m consistently really impressed by how well your videos are filmed! It’s so much more helpful having camera angles from a drivers eye perspective as opposed to instruction delivered via a single static camera. I also like how concise & clear your instructions are too. Another well deserved subscription from me! P.s. My morning routine before the test was have a few bananas and an energy drink for a burst of energy . I put on motivational songs to pump me up, and told myself I can do this like a thousand times 🤣 which actually worked and didn't feel as nervous as the night before.
      During the test, TALK TO YOURSELF!!! I was literally talking about everything I could see on the road just explain what they mean out loud so the examiner knew what I was doing so she felt safe with me!
      Talk to your examiner, I literally brought up the most random thing ever because it was getting awkward, you should engage in a conversation.
      If you are genuinely stuck ask for directions, the Sat Nav told me to turn left but I couldn't see anything coz of a slight hill, she literally told me to go on the left lane and turn left!!!

    I wish Richard was the driving instructor to some 'seasoned' drivers around here. So, thank you, Richard!
    Makes me chuckle when I see 'successful people' exit their cars from what I can only describe as a botched fwd bay parking. Their angles are all over the place.
    What one needs to successfully park forward is all said. The biggest circle, proper timing, a speed that is not too much, and some common sense. A car is not an axe, no need to chuck in it and that's it.
    And while over here, overseas, you can feel lucky if you get away with two chances to correct a fwd bay parking on an exam, in the real, live world if you are not an obstruction, you can correct your parking until it is perfect. Remember - taking time to park properly yields you some experience, a sense of accomplishment, and a lack of door dings, scrapes, scratches and such.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  3 года назад +5

      Totally agree, no excuse to leave your car parked in a way that makes it awkward for others, it only takes a few seconds to pull back and go forwards again.

    I will attempt this method whilst practising for my upcoming test, way easier than the full lock method because you can make adjustment along the way, better than having the anxiety half way not knowing if you are going to get into the space or not. I had my first test and all four wheels ended up in the bay the first time with a bit of an angle, nothing on the lines, I even opened the door to check because I didn't want to risking getting a fault for readjusting under the impression that as long as you are inside the line, you are fine.
    I still got a minor for it, with this method, I could just work my way into the bay without the anguish feeling of ending up in the wrong place.

      All cars are different to drive, I often say the second car you drive is the most challenging because you need to learn to listen to the car and feel how it needs to be driven instead of trying to drive it the same as the car you are used to. The best thing to do is be really slow with everything until you're used to the sensitivity of everything. I still need to do that to this day when I get in an unfamiliar.

      In some instances, you may not be allowed to reverse park at places such as banks for security reasons so it's a good idea to be comfortable at both.

    After passing my test in the real world I have been massively humbled by tight parking spaces with a wider (and very long bonnet) car. Yesterday I did exactly that "too early" front right manoeuvre and hugely embarrassed myself. You are right every correction I tried to do just made things worse. Staff saw me on CCTV to come and help me park 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂. In your opinion is it safer to do the 45 degree reverse method to position into tight spaces (I have very little space between the opposite bays as well as it is a multi-storey like layout)?

    Question, if I'm forward bay parking into a space on the left and I have to move across into the right lane to create the space for my turning circle, should I indicate right first to move across into the right lane, then indicate left to swing into the bay on the left. Or should I just indicate left and then move across the right lane before parking on the left?
    Many thanks for your videos, they are really helpful.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  2 года назад

      When it comes to indicating, do it when you think it's helpful but don't do it if you think it's misleading. Judge each situation individually. Here is a video: ruclips.net/video/n9u_hqfpj9k/видео.html

    Another great video Richard. I like how you picked a busy time in the car park for a more realistic scenario. I’m hoping for exiting a tight parallel parking space soon 😂🙏🏻 it’s steering out of the space in full lock that troubles me. I find it difficult to judge wether I’ll clear the car in front whilst turning. Maybe I’m unique in that case 😂 Can’t see any other videos on this so that would be a particular helpful one 😁

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  3 года назад +1

      Everyone finds that difficult, it's hard to teach this judgement as it's different in every car and generally just takes experience. Only get as close as you feel comfortable with and get out to check if you're not sure. This video may help: ruclips.net/video/NhdQp-Hmds4/видео.html

    Hi,
    Can you please make it a bit more clear that when we do bay parking how much I should turn the steering and how Much I turn the steering back to straight the car wheel.??

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  2 года назад

      How much you steer varies on how much you want the car to steer. In this video to keep things simple I was steering all of the way. All cars are different, but most cars are around 1 to 1.5 turns to go from straight to fully steered which is also known as full lock.

    So on my driving test when they tell me to do a forward bay park,
    should I stop, observe all blind spots etc, and then drive it in
    or do you only need to check centre and side mirror and not stop and just drive it in?

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  3 года назад +3

      You need to observe where you think is relevant to stay safe for your situation. Normally this in front and behind to the side you're steering to see if someone is trying to pass you in the direction you're turning.

    Hi, just wondering what the tricks are to forward parking on the left.
    As I understand on the test reversing can be either left or right but forward is always on the right, but obviously once I pass supermarket car parks have bays on both sides and I may want to drive in to leave easy access to the boot, rather than reverse in.

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  3 года назад +1

      On test you can go forwards into a parking space on both the left and the right. Starting as far away from the bay before steering, steering late is better than steering early and accepting you may need to come back and go forward again is my simplest best advice.
