Phil had already lost a few steps on the drums here in 2007 due to his health issues. You can easily hear it here and you can see a little pain on his face as he plays. These days, he can't even hold the sticks. Truly a shame. I think what's going to bother me the most though is seeing him confined to a chair for most of the performance. He was always so energetic, bouncing around the stage having fun. It was a big part of the show. Now he physically can't do it. But prime Genesis or not, I have to see these guys play before I die and before they die. I'll take what I can get.
@@kingcrimson234 Oh yea, he was already suffering by this point. But at the time you couldn't quite tell unless you were really scrutinizing him. I was only 16 during this tour and had never seen them, so even if Phil was past his prime in retrospect I still feel happy to have seen him when he was still operating at maybe 75 % of his peak years' energy. I was at Madison Square Garden this tour and I had never seen him do the tambourine jig before, and it was such a joy to see the man so vibrant.

At first I was viewing this performance. Then I found myself singing along. And then, with Phil and his tambourine, I was laughing and crying at the same time! Thank you lads!

A heart warming moment: the crowd singing the melody of 'Stagnation'! Near the end of 'I Know What I Like'. I wish someone made a ringtone from it. That melody always puts a smile on my face. :)
I think it very good that Hackett plays to sellout crowds today with his old Genesis tunes and Genesis continued his great music legend as well. They certainly got on better than the Beatles or many other bands did. This band, Genesis, were adults who, in large measure, got along very well. Most rock bands did not.
Amazing piece of music and so well performed. You can tell Phil had drama school experience as his storytelling is outstanding. His diction and emphasis is immaculate. Every word crisp and clear with meaning.
Lucky you! I've been wanting to see Genesis live for 4 decades but never able to :/ and the same thing is happening with Keane who are a cool band inspired by Genesis and U2

That has to be one of the most beautiful rock stage/lighting designs ever. Genesis was always at the forefront in production (they helped fund the development of the first moving head lighting fixture). I love the asymmetric shape, the multiple layers of lights and the cantilevered truss, the video wall.. Oh yeah, the music is pretty cool too. :-) But I want to give a shout out to the guys behind the scenes that make the concert a show. It must have really been something to see live.

@@jpcodnia9133 disaster? Duke is an incredible album definitely one of their best albums post steve hackett
Phil Collins is a freakin' legend. Love you forever Phil. This is how I will remember you forever. A seriously talented force of nature that helped keep Genesis alive. xxxx
So glad they did this show....this way....and recorded it sooooo well. A Forever Keeper
This song is crazy complicated and these gentlemen are masters of the craft. The timing of the lyrics and the accompaniment is perfect.
Holy MOTHER!!!! Truly amazing. The talent is just incredible. I can not believe Phil and that freaking Tambourine!!! Daryl STUERMER's solo WOW!!!!!
I am so grateful that I lived through this era of wonderful music, created and performed by true musicians. A masterful, uplifting and thoroughly entertaining performance. As others have said I never tire of this.
Fabulous masterpiece.ive been loyal to this awesome band since more than 26 years
Man, I wish Phil could still move and play like this.
OMG ... I so agree Anthony. I have been a Genesis fan since Peter Gabriel and have loved Phil Collins since he stepped in after PG buggered off. But he is looking so frail these days. Mind you, I'm 66 and am a bit frail myself. Brilliant music though. xxx
@@SuzyQ334 Oh my goodness, I completely agree with you.
We’re going to see them in Charlotte. My 26 year old daughter loves Genesis as much as I do, and it’s her first chance to see the band. We saw Phil a couple of years ago and he was still amazing.
We’re going to have a blast!!! Wonderful Mom and daughter moment.
But deep down, I’ll be remembering the great old days with Peter and Steve.
I’m not starting a Peter/Phil argument…I love them BOTH!!!💕💕💕
There are some "mistakes"
When Mike hits the pedals at 2:49 and you feel that bass rattle your kidney stones loose, it's pure heaven.
What insane energy from the crowd.
Italy.... 😊
@@danilopellegrinelli Gotta love the Italians. 😇
I was born in the eighties. Still, Genesis is my all time favorite band. I am nostalgic, oh so nostalgic of this early 70's period I never was lucky enough to live i flesh and blood. Thank you Phil, Tony, Mike, Peter, & Steve!!!
Saw this concert(Turn it on Again Tour) in Buffalo N.Y. in 2007 and was the best I have ever seen and saw them from 1976 until this final show.. I was so hoarse from singing I couldn't talk for three days after.. Here's to the greatest band ever!!!
At first I was viewing this performance. Then I found myself singing along. And then, with Phil and his tambourine, I was laughing and crying at the same time! Thank you lads!
What is it? Genesis is a fantastic band with beautiful arrangements and guitar solos. Simply epic !!!
one of the greatest showmen to ever grace the stage. Watch driving the last spike. He really puts his heart into it.
Oh lord above those bends were something else! 1:00 , 1:30 just wow! Beautiful
I love keyboard
I love Phil’s drumming. So expressive in how he strikes the cymbals. Such a fluid feel. Brilliant.
Home by the sea part 2,Phil and Chester Tomson on the drums...Ace..
Phil sends a message here to all drummers in the world that its not how well you play or how fast you play but how close your music brings you to the world.
Phil can really work a crowd. Years of being a child actor will do it. Stage presence counts for a lot.
yes stage presence is almost number one yes number! and phil had it all!
He cant compete with Freddie Mercury though ...
@@Muck006 just stop. Stop comparing vocalist to freddie mercury. Every vocalist is unique.
@@raihanamirulhusana7134 Couldn't agree more,dude...
And 30 plus years of touring experience doesn't hurt.
Grazie papà per avermi fatto conoscere questo inno alla vita
Goosebumps listening... To be used carefully ❤
Wonderful musicianship at all levels🥰
An Absolute Masterpiece From The Best Band Of The World!!!!!
I Absolutely Love It!!!!! GENESIS FOREVER!!!!! 🎤🎸🎹🎸🥁🎼
Peter!
I was at this concert, in Rome, the 2nd time I'd seen them live. What a night, absolutely astonishing. Privileged to have been there. Yes, and I blubbered at the show!!
Are you Fuc%ing kidding me.... I mean just wow... these guys are such a staple in Prog Rock music history...
them and also 70s Rush, Yes, and ELP
What a wonderful groove! Only Genesis can !
When I come across Genesis, I listen to more and more and ALWAYS end up with the possibly best guitar solo ever in firth of fifth....even after hearing it thousands of times, goosebumps...
A heart warming moment: the crowd singing the melody of 'Stagnation'! Near the end of 'I Know What I Like'. I wish someone made a ringtone from it. That melody always puts a smile on my face. :)
The best thing about music back then is that no one knew what a freakin' "ringtone' was.
Un gruppo musicale storico... gente che sa suonare veramente !!!!
Artisti unici....io ero lì e ancora mi vengono i brividi.....
il più bel concerto della mia vita!
the guitar solo is great but Steve's one is of a another transcendent ,calm and fluid dimension.
I think it very good that Hackett plays to sellout crowds today with his old Genesis tunes and Genesis continued his great music legend as well. They certainly got on better than the Beatles or many other bands did. This band, Genesis, were adults who, in large measure, got along very well. Most rock bands did not.
Firth of fifth est un véritable chef-d'œuvre musical .
Le solo de guitare est un bonheur ,
Et Daryl un super guitariste .😃😃😃😃
This song puts a huge smile on my face... its a Masterpiece! ❤
Amazing piece of music and so well performed. You can tell Phil had drama school experience as his storytelling is outstanding. His diction and emphasis is immaculate. Every word crisp and clear with meaning.
How could anyone thumbs down this amazing performance?
Wow... stunning, stunning guitar solo,incredible...
Che dire....eccelsi! Raggiungono livelli più alti nel valore artistico!
I was 15 yo and I was there...it's been an honor and a pleasure. I get chills everytime I watch this part! 🤩
Lucky you! I've been wanting to see Genesis live for 4 decades but never able to :/ and the same thing is happening with Keane who are a cool band inspired by Genesis and U2
I envy you so much, all of you who had the privilege of experiencing this. I miss the 2000s so much.
Masterpiece! One of my all time favorite Genesis songs!
One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen!
I miss this Band everyday!
Love you Guys.
Fabulous, Remarkable, The Perfection. You're THE BEST for THE ETERNITY. Really Thanks forever. From Paris, Luv. I miss you. Je suis TRES en colère contre ces médecins qui ont participé à la destruction de la santé de Phil et je pleure presque chaque jour en y pensant.
When ever I listen to Genesis the world and all its troubles fades away and I lifted to peaceful plane of existence.
That's why I'm here now. I'm 68 and a best friend/co worker of 20 years aged 54 didn't wake up yesterday morning. So, now i'm chillin.
💙 Wow!! 😍 FABULOUS!! Wish I was there! The singing perfect!🥰 The music brilliant!! 👏 Two of my favorites!!😍😃
"Always" 💙 and thanks 👑 Phil and Genesis 🥰👏
True Blue Alllwaaays 💙
Oh this takes me back. Seems so long but sounds so fresh. Magnificent, majestic and moving. Those special vinyl days!
Beautiful songs with unsurpassed artists. W i Genesis, unique and talented artists.
Epic. What a band. Best live act ever.
Phil we love you always! Without hesitation! Without your voice the world would be empty!
You can se the pain in Phil's face while drumming. What a trooper during that tour.
What happened?
He had a back injury which ended up with him losing his hand grip. He cannot real plays drums anymore
I don't think that Phil was hurt in this show, I believe the injure happened later on the tour
Even when pain her progressive timming bring me to tears.. what a master of Drumming.
Noooo. That is pleasure, the extasis. Maybe your are not musician you will never know what it feels
Love how Collins plays with the crowd..cool.
like he's il Duce, eh?
That has to be one of the most beautiful rock stage/lighting designs ever. Genesis was always at the forefront in production (they helped fund the development of the first moving head lighting fixture). I love the asymmetric shape, the multiple layers of lights and the cantilevered truss, the video wall.. Oh yeah, the music is pretty cool too. :-) But I want to give a shout out to the guys behind the scenes that make the concert a show. It must have really been something to see live.
Why is it such a good song? I'm currently obsessed with this song. This part 3:36 is just phenomenal
Meostro, please take your position....... You are about to encounter the pure genius sound of Genesis. Their phenomenal musical ability that is breathtakingly beyond comprehension, will go down in history for ever!
Saw Genesis in 86 at Toronto’s Exhibition Stadium and Skydome in 93 . Big Genesis fan . Collins top ten best drummers of all time . A unique sound , that haunting moody vibe miss that .
It's so sweet to see Phil entertaining the crowds delightfully despite pain and health issues. He's always going to remain a giant, a percussion and vocal genius.
Fantastic lead guitarist who has been with Phil for a long time I have seen him play with Phil on many occasions This is one of my favorite songs Long Live Genesis!!!!
Ero al concerto. Semplicemente il più bello della mia vita. Grazie Genesis
Phil put every ounce of his energy in this concert...he probably knew the outcome...what a gent.

After 50 years of concerts I saw them at their height!!! And all the others! Watch The Mama Tour. The drum solo is incredible with a medley of classic rock!!!
I can die happy as I saw Zeppelin, Elton and Pink Floyd in 73/74 tours!!! And when Peter left, Phil took over singing and "Trick" was born!!!
These songs are criminally underated.
By who? I think most rock fans would agree that this is some of the finest music by one of the greatest bands of all time.
@@inglepropnoosegarm7801You said it, rock fans. The public will know crap by Taylor Swift but not be aware of these masterpieces
@@TehCycleDiariesBecause these songs are like 50 years old+, and the same band has a much more popular era in the 80s that overshadows the oldies
