Today is my 61st birthday and I feel pretty good. I walk and do RUclips videos most days, but still over eat. I know I need to reduce for my health. Well, today is the start of my own personal new year!
@@Stephanie-rf9xs Happy Birthday dear! I found the more activities I do, the less I eat. I will steer myself from the kitchen to either workout, watch a netflix show, do laundry, catch up on social media, emails, snapchat, instgram, linkd in, organize while decluttering, sweep the porch, mowingthe yard, ... Then rotate entertainment, research, chores n such. Oh and I keep very little snack/junk food in the house since the 3 grandchildren have grown and moved out.
Hello Margaret! Great advice and encouragement. I would love to know more about you. I’m happy your tea gives you such enjoyment!!♥️ At almost 73, I learned a years ago that living alone is a time to learn how to really love yourself. Enjoy doing things for yourself that you may have only enjoyed doing for other people. That could be cooking a nice meal, scheduling a date with yourself to go out to dinner (depending on where you live and your circumstances). If you can not take yourself out to the theatre or a movie, dinner, lunch or even an occasional brunch, make a date to pamper yourself doing a hydrating mask or polishing your nails, a little manicure, a glass of wine, a good foot massage, or Instead of thinking of an exercise video as something to dread or a humdrum task, make it about becoming the better version of yourself. Showing your “self-love” is wonderful and amazingly satisfying! I found that when you show your “self-love” you don’t think about what you don’t have, you think about the endless possibilities of how you can treat yourself “special”. Love and Hugs to ALL!♥️
I knot alot bit found there were many elderly on our church who suffer with painful hands. So I make simple handwarmers! I enjoy using fun soft colors and they love them. Joy for all involved.
Hi Margaret: Same here; no one to talk to in the evenings. I was snacking late at night, more so before, but, I know it's emotional eating. I do it to fill a void within myself..always have. My main weakness is sweets. Now, I've got it a bit more under control; I had started cutting back on carbs almost a year ago. I've lost about twenty pounds; however, saggy older skin does not "bounce back". But, I do think it's important for us to be as proactive in our personal health as possible. Some days are difficult; it's a real struggle. All great tips.. thank you so much! Stay safe and well. 🙂 Rosemarie 💖
Enjoyed this video very much. Suggestions were well presented. Especially liked the last comment, be realistic, accept yourself, enjoy the journey! Well done!
Be grateful. I have lost several friends over the past few years. I have had health issues recently--that I am healing from. Every day I am grateful I CAN heal.
I love silver sneakers- you have the satisfaction of knowing you are taking care of your self- You meet positive people of all ages. My oldest gym friend is 90. ( negative people cant flourish in a postive enviorment long.) You get motivation to care for YOU with out guilt or shame. You appreciate what your body can do! You lower the possiblity of diseases that can be controled by wt. It put me in a better mood for the day- especially when I dont want to go. What a bargin.
Very helpful video thank you. 60 seems to hit one unexpectedly with aches and pains. I'm turning 61 next week and with the help of your videos I think I've adjusted quite well this past year xx
Happy September to you, too. Thank you for sharing worthwhile information. I used to be guilty of night snacking, now I limit the amount of snacks I have on hand and stop eating anything by 8pm. My weight has stabilized and I am sleeping better.
‘’ Just except yourself for who you are. ‘’ With this vitally important concept in mind I must make some significant changes. My adult children are no longer close to me. Our relationship has deteriorated to the point where my depression and low self worth kick in. My husband and I have a small villa in Florida. It’s a long way away from our daughters. The next step has to do with creating the minimalistic home environment finding ways to divest myself from things I no longer need. So much of this big house we’re currently living is full of triggers to the past. I have a terrible time with nostalgia. I wish I could rip it out of my mind. In Florida everything is about the here and now. There are no triggers. My mom’s home, for example. She died a year ago and I can’t go past her house or even in her neighborhood without feeling sad. Thank- You, my lovely Margaret, my favorite new online contact , for inspiring videos that help me and countless others navigate this unknown, surprisingly difficult journey.
Hi Margaret, I use silver sneakers and got a free gym membership before covid. They're still closed so I jump on my mini trampoline and take walks twice a week. I changed my whole diet after finding out I had a mild case of peripheral artery disease in one leg. Moving is hard because I have severe arthritis but I force myself. Aloha
Silver Sneakers comes in SOME Medicare Part D plans. It is NOT free woth Medicare. We have it and searched out local places that watch health mandates in our area before signing up. Another big helper for us hasbeen adding more magnesium to our daily routine. It helps with BP and muscle cramps.
Hi Margaret! Your looking lovely as usual. I find learning to love and accept ourselves as we would others is gold. Water: 8 cups a day to hydrate and cleanse kidneys, not counting beverages of other sorts. Yet we do get some water content from this as well as water soluble fruits and vegies. Sometimes it's what else is being consumed and/or digested at the same time. I have finally moved away from night snacking. I stop eating by 6 or 7 pm. Stop the water by 8:30, 9, or by 10 on later nights. Many mornings I don't have a breakfast, but have a brunch about 10 or 11 am. I actually used to think rocking newborns in a hospital would be cool! As would a soup kitchen. In a gym with a stage to provide a little entertainment for the guests. Poetry, karaoke, comedy skits, ... Cleaning off my desk, pencil and bill box to set it up as an office. I am considering working from home. Have a great week!
Love listening to your videos. You are beautiful in and out. The ideas are brilliant. Wish Covid was over si we can get out to help as we have the time. Stay safe
This is what I read online “Silver Sneakers is a private health and fitness membership program designed for seniors. It's available at no cost to those enrolled in a participating Medicare Advantage plan.” I guess what is unclear is what an advantage plan is.
Margaret, you just “glow” today… looking great. Love your presentations👏
And what a lovely smile you too have😊

Pick up some hobbies like crocheting that keep your hands busy so you can't snack at night. Plus you end up with something homemade and beautiful!
