Hey Mav, we all love solar, but there is a case to be made. If you have a big collection, and wrist time is low, if you have a bunch (or all) G Shocks are solar, you're going to have to give them all wrist time to keep them charged. If battery, then you don't need to worry about keeping the solar ones charged. Also, maybe there are places in the world without much sun, or if you're stuck in a cave in Afghanistan for an extended period of time, the sun won't be needed.
Also: Something else I learned: Solar[-powered] watches (including, Casio "Tough-Solar" & Citizen "Eco-Drive") still-have batteries. And eventually, you need to replace them.
I bought the blue on at Macy's this week. Paid $130.00. Very pleased with the watch. Looks great and feels great. It seems to be very durable which is what I was looking for. Something I can use for paddle boarding, surfing, hiking, etc. It is a bit hard to read the LCD displays unless you catch the light just right. The dual time zone feature is great!!
It’s a gshock, you can’t go wrong. I hate skeletonized hands, I don’t like the caseback situation, and it is bordering that SKMEI brand toyish look, BUT, for some reason, it all works for this watch. Love the removable straps but also miss those iconic gshock straps. Is that kind of weird? Great review!
Ray Quintanilla, agreed. It kind of reminds me of the 35$ Casios at Walmart that look like G-shocks, but there not. Even the buttons appear to be plastic, not metal. I’m kind of undecided about this watch. I’m not doubting it’s a tough watch, it just doesn’t look as tough as my old g-Shocks.
That "handalignement" was a bit to much for my 62y old brain..!! ha,ha! but i will manage somehow, trial and error..! nice demo, thanks - i just ordered it 140euro here in sweden, greets, Levi
With you EXACTLY on my two negatives on this: negative LCD displays and no solar. I'd be fine with lack of solar charging if the battery swap was easy, but I do appreciate that the battery difficulty is for a different case design that I do love. Great watch - I also agree with your positives. Tried one in a store today and, like you, I found it to be extremely comfortable.
More probabile that case will be scratcht that mineral glass.I use pro trek for 4 years and dosent have scratches at glass but in the case it's so mach. Now I have timex 30$ with acrylic glass and dosent trouble about that. You mast understand that featur it's only marketing 😉
Holy effing shit....4 days later and finally a video how to match the hands with the digital time. Kind of disgusting how vague or shitty the instruction book is.. thanks M8 Paid 160$ Canadian ..pretty sure I overpaid but oh well . Nice watch.
Everybody talks about the quick release strap but nobody ever says how wide the strap is, if we are going to change it out to a different one we need to know the size would you be able to tell us that please? I’m really interested in this watch but I don’t like rubber straps because I sweat a lot so a different type of strap is what I would need
Maverick Watch Reviews hmmm must’ve missed it thanks for getting back though I plan on getting the very same one you reviewed although the blue is nice too, thanks again 👍🏽
@@maverickwatchreviews 21mm by the lugs? thats no standard size! it must be 22 or 24, or something here is wrong! - i just ordered one, thx, for nice presentation, Levi
I bought the blue one in LV last week. I really like it. It’s super light. And the illumination is quite good in my opinion. I’m a big fan of G Shocks. I just like the size in general and durability. Soon as I heard it was coming out I knew I’d grab it. Likely I’ll pickup the Army Green one also.
$130???? I paid $300(AUS) even with the AUS dollar being valued less than the US dollar, it shouldn't be that much, talk about getting screwed, love the watch though.
I paid 160 euros for mine (Greece). That's ~260 AUD. And almost 50 USD more than this one (160 euro = ~180 USD). To my understanding CASIO watches are always cheaper in the U.S
The worst watch I ever bought. The negative LCDs are almost impossible to read, from almost any angle, except under perfect studio light conditions. The totally useless X shaped nonsense on the dial blocks the light from the single dial illumination LED on about 80% of the dial. The hands are barely visible in some positions due to that BS "design". Moreover it puts the 3 o'clock LCD in a pit so it's even harder to read. Grey index markers are already hard to spot in the afternoon, let alone the light gets even weaker. No lume on the handsm let alone anywhere else. Due to the shitty legibility none of the functions second time zone, stopwatch, timer and alarms are really usable. That's nothing but a kids toy - but for that it's way too expensive.

It pays to be a veteran. I just ordered the light blue one from the Navy Exchange for $88 with no tax!
Rock on brother and thanks for your service!
I just got the same one on shop my exchange for 19.84
Just bought on for £78 /$99 on amazon uk ,Great value for this gorgeous watch .

How does it hold up in the ocean with the saltwater?
A very handsome watch, got mine last week from Macy's. Love it!
They are great looking watches. Enjoy
I just got my ga 2200 last night. Damn! What a good looking watch. And this one I think shares similar functions.

Yeah, I REALLY liked it minus the solar and neg LCD. Cool watches though.
its nice i do like lot ,but not being solar is a put off for me.... cheers
Not going to get a Solar Battery for less than $200 I think
I think you're right :)
@@maverickwatchreviews I did get the navy blue one and I have to say, it's much lighter than what I'm used to.
Nice review. No solar, No purchase 😁
Where can I find replaceable straps for this?
The watch strap is 24mm lug to lug and only the core is carbon reinforced, the rest of the casing Is standard g shock resin.
I have it too. It pretty good. but I like the solar cell figure more. Btw nice quality video.
A Maverick really great video thank you for sharing nice watch I like the blue one also
Thanks for watching!
I know casio tries to keep g shocks affordable by using the mineral crystal on their lower end, but I would gladly pay extra to have sapphire
More probabile that case will be scratcht that mineral glass.I use pro trek for 4 years and dosent have scratches at glass but in the case it's so mach. Now I have timex 30$ with acrylic glass and dosent trouble about that. You mast understand that featur it's only marketing 😉
i had hands-on with this watch..it is goddamn light for a g-shock watch..
They used cheap glass on this one. My other models have no smudges while this one gathers every touch, dust all
I must have one! Thanks again for another cool review.
I got the black version with lume
I ended up getting the Blue one, really wanted the high-end Carbon Core model but couldn't pull the trigger on an $800 watch
Yeah $800.00 for ANY G-Shock is hard to swallow.
I did also about 2 weeks ago.
Got it in Las Vegas at Macy’s.
They had a 25% off at the time.
I’m a never pay full price guy. ha ha.
@@maverickwatchreviews found it on sale at Macy's for $600 picked one up, wish it was the red colorway though
@@maverickwatchreviews actually all of the gshocks are on sale. 25% off
Does the blue model have illuminated hands that glow? Cheers
The yellow really pops. Glad the hands are that color. Easy to read. The pushers look like from the rangeman
Its a shame its not tough solar
Agreed.
YEAH
Hey mav i think the strap is 21mm at the buckle isnt it ? More like a 24 at the lug
Si se pudiera poner el vídeo en español muchas gracias de antemano
Late to the party, mine just arrived today 😅
Bumblebee colorway, I like

It's a 24mm strap not 21, pretty sure you know by now lol. Just thought I would post to inform other readers.
Nice piece for teenies👍😜

They're great watches I just wish they were solar.
Are you talking about the illumination of the hands. Or the illumination from pressing the led button?
even later
the watch and original or replica?
you'd be stupid to buy gshock replica

I paid $130 CAD last week at a department store that’s an authorized dealer, on sale, that’s $96USD. You can find good deals out there.

You are mental .It's a great watch and worth every penny .
It is a Casio watch in the first place. Stop calling it a G-Shock.
