    My grandfather ended up a Major & Squad Leader for the 777th & flew in the 15th throughout southern Italy from Jan/Feb '44 to the end of the war...1,344 B-24's (his favorite aircraft)...So many stories I grew up with...Seeing these vintage planes & hearing the stories really takes me back to my childhood...Thank you Lt. Col. You ROCK! Oh yeah...& the watch is cool too...Keep it up bro!

    I love G-Shock watches. I have an old school G-2310, and its at least 20 years old, and still rockin! I'd give up any other watch I have to keep this one (and I have some expensive ones!); its been there, and done that with me over the years.

    Everytime I think I'm done with buying watches, ( because I have A LOT) Casio comes out with another G Shock that I have to buy. I've worn G Shocks for over 20 years. I have over 20 in my collection. Every single one of them has seen serious abuse. Very durable and reliable watches whether they're $ 80 or 800. They are outstanding timepieces. I can say the same for all my Seikos as well.

Very cool. All black with a white face. All hardware is black. Silicon band (which i have never had b4). Big numbers. White hands outlined in silver with a red second hand. Best part? Under $40 now. Great and stylish for the office.

I love my 650 safari that I put on a Brown Barton leather strap (sacrilige I know but it looks so cool). Casio has a new North American release? Protrek called the PRW6600Y-1A9...and wow I think thats getting added to the collection if I can find a sale.
    Of course thats after I pay off the Momentum Fieldwalker I just got my self for my birthday. I put that on a green paratrooper strap and it has not left my wrist since I git it. Thkx for the recomend on that one!

      I like their solar the most anyway. Some of the others are a little finicky over time, unless the dealers have been storing them improperly some of the citizens are only working about four years in some cases. It's weird. I'll see 13-17 years out of most of the house casios though. -Doodle

    • @loganholmberg2295
      @loganholmberg2295 4 года назад

      @@nutnfancy I think thats because Casios use a battery in all cases while Citizen usually uses a capacitor. The Citizen has a bunch of crazy warnings and proceedures if the watch has been stored out of the box too long. Sigh. Just bought a citizen Promaster with solar that took 4 months to get here from Singapore. I thought they were a Canadian site but they where just masqurading as one. I'll never buy from city watches again. Anyway I guess I'll see how that watch holds up too with my Casios. 😁

    • @nutnfancy
      @nutnfancy  4 года назад +1

      I've wondered about that before, I usually prefer autos for similar reasons. I wonder what the effect would be on a little winding spring to be magnetized like that... it's odd because while somewhat hardy, there are still some elements in winders that react oddly to outliers like that. I think the Seamaster got the space program's blessing because it kept time even after stuff similar to that, IIRC. -Doodle

    I have one... After wearing some higher quality watches for a while, the G-shock sorta feels like a toy. Maybe its the light weight and the plastic clasps on the strap that make it feel less premium. That being said its not a bad watch for the price, but would like it a lot more if it was Solar.

  • @enigmarocker
    @enigmarocker 4 года назад +2

    The only watches I wear are the titanium-band Casio watches that are solar and have ABC functionality. I used these in the Army and afterwards and I beat the living crap out of them and theyve all held up well (Im talking severe abuse), I only bought newer ones because of improved looks or I need a nicer one for work because an older one was beat to hell but still worked perfectly...every one that Ive owned still works fine, but the oldest ones sitting in my drawers just need a solar charge. I consider the Casio solar ABC titanium watches to be WWIII-ready watches (aside from EMP-proof haha). Love Casio; good stuff.

    Historic airplanes can unfortunately be somewhat dangerous. That´s why they don´t fly frequently anymore in Europe. One of my customers here in Germany was in charge of Lufthansas JU-52 (Tante JU, Aunt JU) charter program. In summer, the JU-52 could be seen flying over Hamburg pretty often. Then another JU-52 crashed in the Swiss alpes, and the Lufthansa program was cancelled forever. I miss the typical sound of its three radial engines.

    • @alanburquist3054
      @alanburquist3054 4 года назад

      There is a rumor, that Lufthansa still has JU52 ID D-2600 hiding in a hanger..
      Survived the war in Norway.. They say, it is fully restored, but they are afraid to display it, because some idiot would destroy it.. What a fantastic historical artifact that would be, if it's true.. Another rumor, says that D-2600 actually appeared in the Movie Battle of Britain, naturally painted to not be recognized! These rumors have been around, for a LONG TIME, and are still un-denied by Lufthansa or the German Govt allowing speculation to continue.. Hmmm, that is interesting..

    16:03: In my opinion, the ridiculously low alarm volume is the biggest downside of the G-Shock series. In terms of value and durability, nothing beats the G, I love all of mine, but I never wake up to the alarms so I can't use them on my outdoor adventures.
    When I'm outdoors, I usually wear my Timex Ironman which has a really loud alarm although I think G-shocks are superior to the Ironman on every other level. It is a shame that Casio hasn't managed to tackle this problem in decades.

    *****I love the looks of this watch! However... It's kinda hard for me to jump from analog, to digital. The only complaint I have with analog G shocks, is that the faces are alittle to "busy" for me. It takes me an extra second to tell the time. Since you like Timex #Nutnfancy, you should look into the Timex Expedition Grid. The best legible screen, and the best backlight, lightweight, comfortable, and the keepers have hook locks on them, so they don't slide off the band. Amazon.com, and they make a few different colors.

    • @nutnfancy

      I kinda feel like these G shocks just have analog arms on them to be there for ....a sort of camouflage? Like in circles where guys have timepieces instead of mere watches, the guy with a 'shock would be looked down upon as a digi-pleb. But with hands, he's now part of the crew. Shinola! The only watch that I know of still made in the USC in Detroit. Yes, they bought the rights to the Shinola name from the old shoe polish company, and you better now shit from Shinola. Just having that name on your watch raised the cool factor! Thanks for a great viewing!

    Don't understand why guys will wear a cheap watch when they have a clock on their phones. I get it with expensive watches like Breitling, Rolex, ext, or even an apple watch, but these cheap watches have zero appeal for me. Are most of you so concerned with checking the time that you cant reach for your phone or what is it? ( trying to understand the need )

    Any way to link them somewhere besides amazon? I know they throw you some money for it, but i simply refuse to support them.

      There are some, there's like a network, but if I were looking to get it I'd probably surf ebay and see if someone's got a small shop or personal collection they're opening up. Or direct from casio. It's possible, but it's more incidental. We're still in the AZ ecosystem, as much as it sucks for now. We've throttled back a lot though, by now it's only boutique or odd things I'm still grabbing off them. I've noticed the rating system has been gamed pretty hard in a lot of cases. -Doodle
