- There are only a few watches in the world which I believe every collector and watch enthusiast should consider owning. The G-shock is without a doubt one of these essential watches, as it is unequivocally the ultimate beater watch. However, most often, their larger sizes put people off. Perhaps you have a modest or small wrist? Or maybe you desire something more discreet and comfortable compared to your typical offering from Casio? Well, no matter your budget, today you are in luck!
In this video I discuss why G-shocks are generally so big, why they are such important watches, and why they’re so tough. Join me as I share 5 suggestions I’ve personally tested beyond the endurance most watches can tolerate, and don't forget to share your suggestions in the comments below!

G-Shock is simply the BEST beater watch.
they're pretty much indestructible
@@user-vc5rp7nf8f Very true mate, cheers! 🍻🍺🍺🍻🍺🍺👏👍
You could probably beat the hell out of it, with a baseball bat
@@MilesProwerStudios78 And it would still be like: Are you tickling me?
You’ve got me bloody addicted to Casio’s, but when you can pick up the smallest of the range for a mere £7.95 off Amazon it’s a habit I can afford.
Happy days mate and welcome home 👍😎
My Dad has been wearing a g-shock for 15 years, he's a farmer and diehard fisherman, and the watch has been put to all the extremes you can imagine and is still working perfectly.
I have G-Shock Gulfmaster for 5 years now. Been through military service, construction work, security work, training & still going strong. Nice content btw, greetings from Australia.
Generally speaking, imho, Australians are a tough breed-- much like our (U.S.) "Wild West" settlers, only with better senses of humor...
🖒😎
is the gulfmaster OK for smaller wrists?
@@mustseenow991 they are pretty big. I think the latest model is somewhere around 50 or 60 mm lug to lug. That being said, they are fantastic pieces. If you want a more nautical themed watch that wears a bit smaller, look into the frogman.
@@derekwalter4238 ya but frogman has tide?
@@mustseenow991 the last three models do, yes
Imagine you're a deer and you get 360° no scope by a dude wearing a Rollie
*rages quits and throws controller at TV*
LOL
whats a "Rollie"? I only know Rolie
chuffed to bits
:'D
I’m a small wrist and tend to stick to 40mm or less in mechanical watches, and just got my first (as an adult) g-shock - the B5600 and it definitely fits great!
Today, for the first time in my life, I looked upon G-Shock collection in the market and admired their beauty. I always despised their ugliness and size.
However, I'm now contemplating which 5600 variant to buy soon.
Your enthusiasm while refraining to market cheap products has awakened the watches love inside us.
I've had a stainless G510 for over 20 years and still going strong. I got back into them recently and bought a GAW100 (bigger version of the AWG), a GW7900 rescue, a GD350 blackout which has a great negative display and finally the GX56BB blackout king which I love despite the size. All great watches for not a lot of money.
As an aside, that Air Arms TX200 you are carrying brings back a few memories from when I used to shoot. A beautifully made rifle. 👍
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here on my arm
DW5600B-1AV
My watch very,
Extraordinary,
It will always be strong.
Eheh Depeche Mode would be proud
Bought a DW5600E last month, and I have real trouble going back to the rest of my watches. So much functionality for such a low cost is what I'm all about.
Update?
I was just trying to research smaller g-shocks, brilliant video
You've quickly become one of my favorite youtubers in the past few months as I've just recently got into watches. I used to not like G-Shocks, as being in the military, they seemed very nerdy and samey as everyone around me wore one and they all wore the round G-Shock styles which I'm not a fan of. I did not know until your videos that they still made G-Shocks like the ones from the 80s/90s! Just ordered the DW5600E, probably going to pick up that g-shock mini in the future as well. Thanks again, TGV, happy hunting!
The eagle has well and truly landed back in Blighty, welcome back my friend, here’s looking forward to Tuesday night, onwards and upwards your friend Ryan.
It's got a pretty large case size but it wears extremely well on my small wrists. Absolutely no regrets getting my second one ever since my first one died on me. Excellent video to introduce the different models of the Casio G Shock. Keep up the good work TGV. Always looking forward to the next one.
Welcome home T Merry Christmas, thank you for cheering me up for years & years.
Out in the woods.. still talking about watches.
That's a true blue watch enthusiast. (But yeah, what better time to talk about G-Shocks.)
I literally just bought on of these nato G-shocks (Type ii Class e) for my dad two days ago! Glad to hear you are a fan! :D
This exactly the video I was looking for! Love your work, man!
Thanks TGV! Going to collect a 5610 from John Lewis tomorrow to add to my ever growing collection of Casios...your channel has got me addicted to them 😁
I've got the 5610, so as much as I love the 5600 design, the 5610's solar functionality wins me over every time. The fact that I literally don't need to worry about battery life at all (at least not for 10-20 years from what I hear). And another beautiful feature on the 5610 is the atomic time. It's an incredible reference watch, or even primary watch - if you wan't 100% accuracy, it's the one for you. But I may still pick up a 5600 in future. Great video TGV.
I was considering the 5610. I own both the 5600E and the 5600BB but I want my next G Shock to be Solar powered. It's a 3 way tie between that, the Mudman and the 500A lol. So many choices.
Solar powered is a killer feature.
The 5610 is great. I have the black version with the negative display. The solar functionality and atomic time is such a great feature. For me it's the perfect G-Shock.
@@coryames1170 I don't think you can go wrong with the 5610. I own a Cartier Tank which cost an arm and a leg - but I still regularly wear my 5610. I use it as my daily alarm.
The latest 5600 has Tough Solar, Multi Band 6, and Bluetooth
The G-Shock a sensation when it came out ? Yes ! Grabbed my attention immediately , before the ultimate tool watch was my non hacking explorer "the heart of a thoroughbred in the body of a mule". The G-Shock left it choking on it's dust 🤓 , great selection here and marvelous review !
First watch I ever bought, a few weeks about a year and half ago after getting hooked on TGV’s channel, was an AWG-M100. Love it. I wear it all the time, but especially as my “cooking” watch.
Another great video, TGV!
That said, I cannot, cannot, cannot believe that you only gave a mere mention of the G-100 ana-digi on your list-- a nice-looking offering from Casio.
Normally ~$75USD in my corner of the world, currently on-line, it's listing for $53.99 (a steal, imho), and is the absolute perfect size for my 6&1/2" wrist...
🖒😎
Perfect video for me and my baby wrists!! You did help me buy a smaller g-shock last year and I absolutely love it!
When I was in the Army, I bought a DW-5000 C1 while stationed in West Germany and it was going to "Hell" watch or basically out in the woods for military exercises. I bought it in 1983 and lasted me until 1997 and I passed it to my oldest son, but he "killed it" within a week!!!! I was "Live it" that a watch that lasted for so long and went through a lot of crap, somehow it took no time for my teenage son to destroy it! Never underestimate a teenager.
Anyway great vid TGV, brought back memories, enjoy your stay back in England and the outdoors.
My favorite subject: G-Shocks
I think the g7900 is amazing. It fits small wrists amazingly , and is crammed full of functionality. The solar multiband version is just perfect.
Wow! I was just doing a google search on “Smaller G-Shocks” last night. Great timing!
Like you, I wear a g shock every day and it just holds a special place in my heart. A few years back I purchased a gd350 (my first g shock) to help me wake up early without waking up my wife and two children. The gd350 has the vibrating alarm, along with world time and all of the other fantastic g shock features. I quickly found myself wearing this watch almost everyday and currently would not be able to carry out the lifestyle that I love without it. I feel that it wears smaller than its numbers suggest. I now own multiple g shocks, but the gd350 is by far and away my favorite and the only watch in my "collection" that even my wife would agree, if anything were to happen to it, I'd replace it immediately, without hesitation. Awesome video. As much as I want a Tudor or even a simple skx, I constantly find myself drooling over more and more g shocks.
This video coincides with me adding a Frogman to my collection. I have bought and sold a bunch of Casios in the past but one thing is certain: it was never the fault of the watch. They are true tools! Best value out there.
Enjoy England!

Great video as always. I've been a big fan of the G-Shock Series but have always had trouble with them because of my small wrists. This video helped a lot, thanks.
2:40 “ go to watch for when the tough gets going”
Love you TGV 😄
Warm Regards.
Always a pleasure to see a new video
My DW-5600BB probably gets the most wrist time in my collection. It's one of the best beater watches out there. However, I recently came across the anadigi GA-2100, and I'm considering adding one to the collection as well.
Enjoy the weather and the time with your friends and family, TGV!
Looking forward to the next one.
Koen
I love using the 5600 during my runs, it displays the time while on stopwatch and timer mode, very practical. 👍🏽
Absolutely, same here my friend, same here!!!
Keep it going my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry thank you sir best regards to you as well. You are truly awesome. 👍🏽
I think I might try one of the metal ones or one of the minis if I can find them at a good price. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
First video I’ve watched of yours. Super helpful and reaffirmed my decision to get that last one. Gotta say you just look genuinely happy and unpretentious, it’s refreshing to see. Subscribed. God bless
Great video. I have an AWG as a beach holiday watch, and I can't praise it highly enough - so capable, and so much fun. I honestly enjoy and respect it as much, if not more, than my ceramic sub.
Great video, TGV. I have a GA1000 that looks like a monster on my 6.5" wrist but it's my go-to for anything rough and tough. I really like the aviation styling on it, and the built-in compass and temperature sensor are great for outdoor activities. But now this video's got me thinking of getting one that fits my wrist better.
Thanks again and happy hunting!
Great video as always. I've just purchased the GA-2100 triple black. Highly recommended for a smaller wrist. It's one of the thinnest G-Shocks ever and looks great in my opinion.
I love all my 5600 series G Shocks, but I’m particularly fond of the gw-m5610 with the 3159 module and all the ones that came after it, such as the gw-5000, gw-s5600 and gw-s5600b. They have a slightly smaller case than the base 5600 and wear much more comfortably, especially the gw-s twins which come in at 47 grams.
My favorite is my trusted DW-5600-E. It’s my daily wear, and puts up with everything I throw at it. This video made me love it even more. Thank you for such a wonderful video. Happy Holidays TGV! Enjoy your time with you beloved family.
The G Shock really is the perfect everyday watch. Every collection should have one IMO.
Enjoy your much deserved holiday Tristano.
why just one??
@@espenjohansen8074 he meant one dozen.
I got a feeling the g-shock will be like a vintage master piece that one day we will be going ape on the earlier models
Thank you for this episode, definitely brings to perspective what G-Shock offers at such sizes. I was wondering, if you would have included the GA2100-1A1 into this list, dubbed the G-Shock "royal oak" ;D
Love the gw-m5600 myself, the multiband 6 system is very usefull and I never have to worry about batteries!
Thank you, sir. I just bought one of your recommendations via Amazon and I look forward to enjoying it.
Great review, have a great holiday friend.
This morning I had actually ordered the Casio GMW-B5000GD-9, I am super excited. I love a nice gold Casio watch. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Monday got much better, thank you TGV
I've always liked the G-Shock series. The only digital watch that wasn't killed by side lobe radiation from radar and antennae on the carrier flight deck during air ops.
Great video, I was just thinking of getting a new g-shock. I love the dw-5600 I had the pleasure to get hands on with one from my friend and decided for this Christmas I will treat my self with a gw-m5610 for the bonus multi band and tough solar functions. Thank you for giving me the idea of modding it with a nato and a bullbar, it just looks lovely on the wrist. Keep up the good work!
Yet to get my first gshock and your voice is a super treat, like always
Had my DW-8300 for 21 Years and I love them to bits. I'll never get rid of them. Love Casio.
I never had a G-Shock but after this video that may change! 🤗🎄 buone feste TGV, riposati un po’ 💪
I needed this video thanks
I have the Fire Package 18' G-Shock GW-2310FB-1B4JR and absolutely love it! I especially acknowledge the history behind the G-Shocks, really dedicated engineering.
I love Casio, my first watch was a G shock 5600 that my dad gave me when I was 8. I actually still have it and gets wrist time to this day. I also have the GA-2100 with the blackout dial. The blackout version is hard to find, but if you find one, buy it.
Love the throwback video style. Great music too.
The G-7800 series was great and on the smaller side (around 42mm case size). I'm glad I picked up a G-7800B back in 2009 because they didn't make them for very long and it has one of the easiest to read negative displays I have ever seen. Though for some reason the strap seems to be just a bit longer than most G shocks I've owned.
Hello TGV,
Akira - very good stuff! One of my favorites too.
I bought a GMW B5000TCM last month. Currently my favorite G-Shock. I like the look. I have a stronger wrist, so I can not recommend anything for a smaller wrist. However, I think a 5000 or 5600 is always and on every occasion a good choice.
Have a nice time.
greetings
René
Good evening TGV, great to have you almost in my timezone (I‘m GMT +1). Great you take another turn on this classic design. I like the DW5600BB for it‘s classic G-Shock Design, also fits great on a smaller wrist. The Mini I find hard to get here in Europe. Have a great time here!
Thank you Heiko, nice to be this side of the pond indeed.
I totally agree about the mini, a real shame, they would make a fortune I feel if they did more models, a mini DW5600BB would be amazing!!!!
Best regards,
TGV
Thanks for this wonderful video on G-Shocks for smaller wrists. I, for one, also has 6-1/4” wrists. I picked up a GW7900 about a month ago and I was shocked at how well this G-Shock fits my skinny wrist. There is no doubt that it is a big boy but it also fits so comfortably on smaller wrists and larger ones alike. As such, folks with sub 6-1/2” wrists should give the GW7900 your consideration as well.
Always great to get out of the city and into the country lol favorite small gshock has to be Dw5600e-1v. I always look forward to your trips to England 👍😊🇮🇹🇨🇦🇬🇧
The watch you're wearing for this video is the one I have and love it.
I loved the little history lesson in the beginning 👌 fantastic work
the new carbon core ga21000s, at 45mm, would fit almost all wrist sizes... it is also the thinnest g shock in current production
Yes I thought he would cover this one - I am sure he would be a fan of the all black stealth look!
@@EL-OH-EL-99 we have the same tastes :) ... snagged that all-black stealth ga21000 at a premium when i found one... it was worth it :)
Great quality video for that outside shot.
Welcome back to the UK TGV.. i love my dw 5600 wear it every day and at work.. keep up the good work and have great Xmas.. Buon Natale e Felice Anno nuovo👌😀
Great informative review thank you well done.
Hi there. This video by far the best video i have gone through about digital watch. Casio f 91 connects me with my childhood memories. I was looking for a reference video as i want to buy Casio series of watch and fortunately i got your video to checkout. Thanks alot for this lovely explanation.
I love your channel! Great presenter and style
Big fan of the DW5600 here. Especially like it on a nato, with the sisters. Also, the Mission Impossible watch - the Casio DW290 - offer basic G-Shock features in a small case. It's not a proper G-Shock - but it could as well be.
Sir, thank you for a great review! Will get a Square today. Oorah!
Can you do a review on comparing the" man" series of gshock's mudman, riseman, etc.
I bought a DW5600 a few years ago because of one of your videos.
It made me a Casio fan overnight.
Thank you!
Also, maybe a short video about the rifle?
Just got my very first g shock today g w x 5600-1 j f with solar and I’m very happy with it thanks love your reviews
Hello TGV. In Norfolk? Thanks for the video 👍🏻👍🏻
I bought a couple of G-Shocks in Japan recently. Great watches.
Hello Tim, absolutely!
Thank you Tim :D
Always a pleasure,
Best regards,
TGV
Great choices. I recently picked up a DW-5750 E. It’s the 3229 module but in a round case. The small case size and narrow resin band makes it my favorite.
I have a small wrist and also the Casio G-Shock AW591ml ... simply fantastic!
Hello TGV love your videos. Bought a sekio recently on your recommendation. Love from Nepal.
Great video. I bought a Gulfman after seeing your review of the Mudman. They are similar in size. Moonphase, tides and titanium instead of steel. This one has a lot of wrist time. Have a great holiday.
I have the 5610 G Shock and also an AWG G shock. Both are solar radio controlled.
However, for me, a Casio 218H is preferable to both.
The 218H has larger clearer numerals. The dial is less cluttered and it has a louder alarm which I use to signal on the hour.
It is not a G Shock but I don’t always need that toughness. I can take the time from the radio controlled watch if the 218H strays too far but it is very accurate anyway. Solar is nice but I only need to change the battery every 7 years on the 218H. The 218H is cheap as chips - under £20. The 218H is light and very comfortable to wear.
I bought a ga100 yesterday and it's amazing
Only thing it's missing is a longer battery life and electro luminance
The light on it does the job though
Dw5600 is the ultimate g shock. It's got all the features you'd ever want. Very comfortable and takes an absolute beating
I love the 5610 for the red outline on the display and the purple hue of the solar cells. The practicality of daily atomic calibration is cool too.
I bought Casio W-96H-4A2VEF recently and is omg.
In the past I was more a Pro Trek guy as G-Shock ;)
In love with my DW5600E-1V...it follows me everywhere.
By the way nice and interesting video.
Hi TGV
Yup, you got to have a G Shock. Mine is a GW 5610 BC on the Combi link. I can just pull it off size wise, but I catch myself babying it😆
Nice that they do in fact make some more modestly sized models. I don’t think that G Shocks will be especially harmed be the growing trend (-which I welcome) of watches getting smaller again though. Many people think that a G should be big & bulky.
Keep up the good work👍
Great video TGV. As Usual. Love You.
Enjoy a well deserved rest with your family mate !
Cheers from Paris
All great choices, TGV. I use a DW-5600e for cardio and timing weight lifting sets, and I’m already eyeing a screw-back square JDM GW-5000. The G-Shock addiction is real.
I have a DW 5600. I bought it as a beater watch but now I am wearing this even more than I should 😉
Awesome video! Also, since you released it the GA2100 series has also become one of the most wearable!
Great video!! T for sharing!!!
I just got a G-Shock GX-56BB. I also have one of their 'GA-2100-1A1ER Carbon Core Guard' on way. I also have a Mudmaster, and a Casio Pro-Trek PRW-3500Y with Orange strap. All great 'Working away' watches.
Oh yeah, G-Shocks! I wear my GW-M5610 very often. I love it. Mine has been through a lot, snorkeling, mud, ice, snow and deep winter temps. Completely unimpressed. But I've been looking on other square models too. Too sad imho that not all square ones feature tough solar/multiband 6. That's a must have for me.
Nice watch and great video as always TGV and nice Air Arms air rifle too, not only great taste in watches then I see. As a fellow brit I can agree with you on the weather! Very cold and damp!! The review you did of the all metal square followed by the follow up video convinced me into getting one, I am now the proud owner of a stainless full metal square! And I absolutely love it! Getting more wrist time than all my others. Thanks and regards from Lincolnshire.
I use and recommend a GA-800 as an everyday G-Shock. Its Analogue and Digital, with a second hand too. Not big either and very comfortable, I love it!
I even have two, a GA-800SC which is blue with yellow highlights and a negative display. Great all rounder.
The only thing it doesn't have is world time, but that is fine with me as my passport has expired :) Cheers TGV!
Hello TGV! Love the channel, good work you put down! A few requests: 1) I’ve found interesse in the less popular models from Tudor, especially the «Style», a review of it would be a first on youtube, maybe a comparison to it’s more known cousin «Datejust». 2) Oris Big Crown Pointer Date on bracelet, or Oris Artelier (the newer models are lovely).
