Your intros are the best I've seen anywhere. The colours, shapes, and patterns combined with the choice of music produce an outcome that not only captures the true meaning of the subject of the video but also gives a different perspective on many watches, something beyond the manufacturer's vision.
@@jisezer To be fair, the first gshock came out nearly 40 years ago. While it may not share the same provenance as Patek or Vacheron, they aren't exactly a brand new company either.
I saw a version of this watch with a metal case in matt beige, almost gold, and a unique structure engraved on its top. I really fell in love with it. It's good to know that this RUclipsr also thinks smaller watches should not be marketed only for women. They are just very tasteful for all sexes in many cases. So, thank you for the great video!
As a 165 lb. 5'11'' male, I have crazy skinny wrist. It is such a hassle to find Casio watches at smaller sizes!! I am so glad that you are straight up telling Casio to make 38mm-40mm G-shocks!!! I have spent several years trying to find a good looking smaller G-shock. They are always 50mm+!
I got a gbd 5000umd 1jf. It's a black square G shock at 38mm. It's for the Japanese market. I blacked out the baby G lettering so it can't be seen anymore. Put a bull bar and an army green canvas strap on it using jayandkays 14mm to 20mm strap adapter. It looks tough and fits me perfectly. Wear what you like based on what works for you.
I'm impressed, i love the look of that g-shock and the smaller size! Ever since I bought a 36mm watch it completely changed my mind, i don't think I'd ever buy a watch again that is over 40 mm.
The GMS-5600SB-1DR arrived today and I was surprised by how thin/small it is. This version has a matte black bezel. It sits really well on my twig wrist. Casio finally made a G-Shock that was closer to the size of their classic F-91W with all the water resistance and shock protection of its bigger brothers. The strap is even more comfortable than the regular Squares.
TGV is right. I'm a guy that owns a "ladies" speedmaster and love it! I have small wrists and it fits me perfectly! You should review it, it's a very under appreciated model! The 38mm variant.
Never expected to like a G-Shock as much as this one, but from the intro I expected it to have a 10 year battery life, and I agree that the bezel should really have been brushed. If it weren't for those two issues, it would probably have been my next purchase, because it would have been close to the perfect everyday watch imo. Hope they come out with an updated model soon! Thanks for the review, and keep up the great content!

I bought a Casio “Mudman” g-9000 based on the recommendation by TGV and it’s one of my favorite watches I own. It does everything I need it to do and it’s tough as nails 💪🏼 Thanks TGV & Casio. Keep up the great content and cheers to Hugo 🦖👌🏼
They didn’t go on the smaller size. They’ve just released a ”women” version. 😩 Would love a GMWB5000 in 38mm ! ... With all its features and functions... Still love my full-metal black GMWB5000 ltd.
Love Casio, and love G-Shock. I currently have a 5610 and the all black all steel model. This one is definitely a great addition to the steel line up (even given its negatives) especially as you point out for those looking for a more compact G-Shock. Hope you are very well my friend, great video as always 👍
If u want a midsize between GMS5600-1 and the DW5600 you should definetly see the G5600E.. it look exactly like the DW5600 but a bit smaller, solar powered and updated text font. Best most underrrated G shock square ever.. :)
been watching your vids for a couple of years now. Finally starting my little watch collection. Started off with a classic Casio, and now just bought a Presage Negroni. G shock is my next one! :) Thanks again!
I like the watch, but not the negative display. Also, I, too, need day-date complications. It's come to the point where I won't even consider date-only or no-date watches.
I preordered this G-Shock before Casio released it, and kept it about six months before gifting it to my teenage daughter, who loves it. It is highly versatile, a perfect size, and eye-catching. Even though Casio improved the module, I feel the reverse display can still be challenging to read in low light. And, every time I picked it up, I expected it to be hefty because of the metal case, but it is light like any resin watch. Maybe Casio could put a stainless steel inner case on this model like on the GW-5000-1JF just to give it a little more mass?
The Negative display "black on white" make it look really slick and beautiful to watch enthusiast but many fans still prefer the white on black "Classic Display" for it's historical significant. but ultimately it's up to our own personal preferences :D
TGV first off thank you for growing my passion and love of horology and my appreciation of watches of all price level. You've inspired me to start a fun RUclips channel about watches! So thank you for that, but I have to ask it seems like in your more recent videos it doesn't seem like the fire is still as furious as it once was, just watching some of your previous videos from 2017 those would always get me almost giddy and I just hope everything is well with you and your subscribers are always here. Do what you love
Fantastic one for the more conservatively wristed among us. It's handy for me to have the very same wrist size as TGV, I can see what featured watches would wear like on me.
Beautiful watch and perfect size. Kind of reminds me of my original DW-5600 screw case back so still have and have kept up with over the decades. Still looks new and the light still works. This watch reminds of the good old days. Great video!!
Apparently you have to check their latest release of steel watch, the GST-B400 Said to be the thinnest and smallest full stainless steel G-Shock with fully featured ana-digi module, I think you have to check that out TGV 👍🏼
As I prefer a smaller size for my small-medium-ish wrist, this one looks like a winner to me. Love the simplicity of it. Will definitely give it a closer look.
I want one right now. Tried previous metal one and was too big for me. Great video as always. One thing though playing with Ken is better than with Ryu 😉
Haha, indeed. Ken is cool. As for the G-shock, you will love this in that case. I have since decided to keep this one, I hope you go for it. Thank you Luke Best regards, TGV
In Germany we say "weder Fisch noch Fleisch" (neither fish nor meat) when it comes to things or characters that are indecisive between extremes. But maybe that´s part of the appeal creating a certain niche that might be limited yet still perfectly right for the right kind of watch person. I´m not a G-Shock guy, but this one I would at least consider.
I love learning stuff like that, cool expression. Thank you Klaus, I think you would really enjoy this watch if you decided to try it. Best regards, TGV
I love that this is a smaller option and with an all-metal case. Most G-shocks look ridiculous on my wrist, so I've never bought one. I own a Casio AE1200, and that works much better. Now if we could just convince Casio to make a metal case for something like the AE1200s, that would be something.
Another great video, TGV! The idea for this video makes me wonder if an episode on watches we wish existed but don't could be a good topic. It seems makers are really responding to their customers lately. Imagine a reduced size Seiko Turtle?!
Great review Gent. Love the G shock videos. Fancy watches always don't last for me no matter how careful I am. When I had an apple watch it separated the screen and the module just from the tension of a button up shirt sleeve. I know that it is not a Seiko or a Rolex or something. Still you need your gear you rely on to actually work when the time comes. That's why I love G-shocks.
Really enjoyed the review, TGV! My son and I watched it together as usual. Both of us were impressed by the Mission Impossible G-Shock....we had seen your previous review but I didn’t know that the display would flash when the alarm went off. We are considering both getting one as our Summer 2021 watch. Very nice review on this one though! Thanks. Onward and upward, my friend!
A brilliant review as always TGV. An objective analysis and some insightful points. I think the highly polished bezels would definitely get scratched easily. I was wondering if you'd note that since the moment I saw the thumbnail. Well played sir. Keep the great videos coming please!
I have never been a fan of the G-Shock family however your videos are so well produced that my interest was lifted just a tad bit. I won't be getting one anytime soon but quality work again TGV.
I agree with your opinion. A brushed metal finish is much more refined. The smooth shiny surface makes it look cheap. Maybe one day Casio will get their act together.
Thank you TGV for another interesting Casio video! I love Casio watches and I own two Casio analogue watches. One being the Casio duro and another rectangular Casio that I inherited. Love the Casio duro because it is so affordable yet the quality is so high quality. The mineral crystal hasn’t even been scratched even though I don’t baby that watch. That watch helps preserve my more expensive watches that I have in my collection like Orient Star standard date and Hamilton spirt of Liberty. As well as 18k gold Tissot I have from my grandfather. Stay healthy and well! Nick
I bought my 16 year old son a g shock when he went in the army at 16 he is now a 24 year old man he gave me it back when he left the army it died this year so 8 years on a 2 year battery
Love G-Shocks! Habe had one in my life for decades. Settled on the 6900 series. Have a couple with black screens and they are hard to read. Always have to use the light to tell the time especially outside. While cool looking, I will take a normal screen all day everyday. Great review!!!
I have both the GMS5600 and GM5600 because I couldn't make up my mind. but after having them for awhile I'd say without a doubt the GM is the better choice for most guys. the GMS is really, really small. you don't understand how small it is until you actually have it.
Are you able to confirm whether the lug width and overall strap size is the same on both the GMS and the GM? I just bought the GMS5600 as TGV has featured here. All measurements I've found suggest normal GM straps will fit the GMS.
I was hopeful this would be available in a similar finish combination to the full size metal square, along with the engraving on the face. Something about the full polished, engraving-less case almost seems cheap compared to the mixed finishing on the full size model. I love my standard full metal, despite its weight and relative size to my 6.5" wrist, but would have snapped up a miniaturized version in a second had it been a bit closer to the original in design. The lack of solar is tough, too - that feature on the full size is a huge value add for me.
I agree completely. I feel the same way about the "minimalist' versions of the 5600 square. While the writing and labels are a bit gauche, they really add some visual intrigue to the watch. Without the writing the screen looks miniscule and the bezel looks huge.
I would love to see it with a regular non black display and brushed front, also, you raise a good point with the strap, I'd love to wear it with rubber strap for swimming, nato for diving and maybe leather or canvas for work. Also, adding dual or world time would be nice to have as I use those regularly.
Looking for a smaller G-Shock, I recently ordered the JDM release, GMD-S5600BA-1JF. It’s black, has a Shock Resist Shield on the face of the watch, and most important: a positive display. I would like to see a mid-size too but sometimes I want something unobtrusive: think Seiko Memory Bank (M354-5019) with the resin shroud and floating module of a G-Shock or even a brushed/polished metal affair. If they ever made thin MR-G - a true digital dress watch that had the same tough specs of a G, I’d be all over it. I love my MRGB5000 - finishing is second to none. Of course, if it was that thin it wouldn’t have to be made out of titanium or be an MR-G but I have wanted a dressy square
I’ve a love-hate relationship with g-shocks - I love them when I browse on eBay (especially military ones), overpay, then they arrive and I remember how little they fit my lifestyle and how ridiculous they look with my wardrobe! Then I sell them again at a loss... I’m at the start of this cycle again right now. The troubles of a watch fan!
whatever your weekday attire is, you too must go on hikes, walks, runs, bikerides in the weekend. you too also probably do some workout, sometimes do some gardening, or go to a spa or something. all of those scenarios, i use my g shock for. i have the baby g bgd 560, the normal black with positive display. essentially this same watch with the normal display and all black resin, perfect if you ask me, and probably costs a third of this gms. at 50-60usd, you wont really mind if you only use it once a week even. although i go terrain cycling at least 5times a week and i either use the baby g, or my ae1200, but i guess not everyone does. the good thing is, even this gms is still somewhat cheap, so you wont lose much.
I've been looking into getting a Casio to use for working out and playing sports and not worry about getting it dinged, but still wanting something that looks good for an adult. I had a plastic one as a kid and wore it everywhere. LOL! I can relate about not being sure what date it is. Working from home due to Covid and just recently retired, I find myself asking my Google home, "what day is it?".
i hope casio would revive some of their more premium digital watches from the 80s and early 90s.. they dont have to be under the g shock line. instead i wish they would be more thin and dressy while being all metal with some of the new features like solar power, world time and bluetooth time calibration.. it would be nice to have a more dressy digital watch to wear on week days to the office and save the g shocks for the weekend adventures.
We applaud quietly with our small hands and tiny wrists.

The fact that I had no idea this was out just shows how difficult these heritage watch brands make it to figure what is out currently in the market

@@MrLeSa95 Usually when I think of a woman's watch, it's usually those tiny cases like 10-20 mm.
@@ivanfreely6366 i mean the polished part not size
Another great review 👏 nice watch and nice super Nes controller btw 😁😎
All I got from this video is a reminder on how good F91 and 5600 are. Thanks TGV!
Smashing review as always TGV!!!!!
Just got a MTGM900DA-8. Loving it!
G-Shock is such a fantastic product!!
Nick
Two years of battery life seems awfully stingy for a Casio.
Sadly it's the norm with the newer modules. My gg-1000's battery lasted less than 3 years.
I bought my 16 year old son a g shock when he went in the army at 16 he is now a 24 year old man he gave me it back when he left the army it died this year so 8 years on a 2 year battery
@@stevelufc64 I am sorry to have read this message about your loss, I accompany you in the feeling, much encouragement

Love G-Shocks! Habe had one in my life for decades. Settled on the 6900 series. Have a couple with black screens and they are hard to read. Always have to use the light to tell the time especially outside. While cool looking, I will take a normal screen all day everyday. Great review!!!
That's a very attractive G-Shock. I picked up a Black Ion version a few months ago and love its comfort.
@@toothpik00 everything is smaller on the gms including strap width. I don’t think the gm strap would fit.
@@ShaiUI okay thanks for the info
i bought seiko skx007 i love it ! keep up the good work
I was hopeful this would be available in a similar finish combination to the full size metal square, along with the engraving on the face.
I think it almost looks white gold
I agree completely. I feel the same way about the "minimalist' versions of the 5600 square. While the writing and labels are a bit gauche, they really add some visual intrigue to the watch. Without the writing the screen looks miniscule and the bezel looks huge.
Hi TGV superlative content as per usual. FYI I have just acquired the GM-2100G-1A9ER based on your suggestions. Keep up the good work.
This man makes you appreciate watches more with these videos
I would love to see it with a regular non black display and brushed front, also, you raise a good point with the strap, I'd love to wear it with rubber strap for swimming, nato for diving and maybe leather or canvas for work. Also, adding dual or world time would be nice to have as I use those regularly.
Another first class show my friend, cheers!
Negative displays are not my cup of tea, but,in this case,I must admit It looks gorgeous. Perfect size also. Thanks for another great review!
Thank you Paulo, I have to say, this is the best negative screen I have ever seen!
Best regards,
TGV
I just got mine. Exceeded my expectations. 😎
The only dressy digital for men.
I have much larger wrist than you (almost 18cm) but I very much prefer this one over the 43mm version. I rarely wear watches over 40mm
6.0 inch coming in slowly and unnoticed. I can finally wear a G-Shock.
CASIO, definitely one of the most recognized watch brands of all time...
Good review. I just picked up the limited rainbow model and it is amazing. I love it.
16:22 My man predicted the new, even smaller, 40mm metal CasiOak series: GM-S2100!
I really enjoyed this, a fantastic in-depth overview! Thank you Sir!

....TGV...they're listening...
Great job with the editing and what a balanced review as always. I think the one huge pro (size) outweighs the numerous cons you pointed out.
I LOVE the size but, like you, I wish the "Casio" text was at the top and the bezel had a brushed finish. Great review of a good looking watch!
Absolutely! You are right about Casio written on the 12 o clock position like in your mock up and the brushed metal bezel would be a great touch.
Agree!!!
It's under the Women's category on the G-Shock website. I wonder why it is being marketed as a women's watch... I might buy it anyway though!
Indeed!!! This thing should be for anyone who desires a smaller metal G-shock.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
