How much Casio paying you to be their b*tch? Let me guess.........nothing.......but you still their b*tch. Man, quit doing these truly useless videos, if you must shill for Casio at least get them to pay you.
I bought my first G-Shock in 35 years last week - the 5610u. It does everything better than any of my automatic watches, and it even has a notable history to refer to, namely 40 years of consistent success. The fact that it is a great watch and a beater, makes it rather special.
Always up for a G Shock vid!! I decided to do a quick inventory of my collection and I currently own twenty four G's. Those were all excellent picks Russ. Like you, I love my GBD 200. I have a couple of models with a smaller form factor like the MTG-M900 and the G300 Street Rider. I believe they are older designs as they are really difficult to come by now. The MTGs are Tough Solar and Multiband 6. The GD-350-1BER is a stealthy all black with a vibrating alarm and the best negative LCD panel I've seen on any Casio. The numerals glow a greenish gold color when light hits them. Not sure why Casio hasn't made all of their negative displays this way. It's one of my all time favorite G Shocks
If you are interested in G-shocks that had historical relevance, you should try the AW 500E, the first analog (ana-digi) G-Shock, originally released in 1989 too. Great video as usual, by the way
I've got a GW6900 and a DW5600. That's it for me mate! A round (with multiband 6) and an old school square. Love them both. Thanks for sharing your G-Shock enthusiasm!
I got a W-218H the other day, it’s like a cheap mini G-Shock. It’s $16, it’s square, it’s a little thinner and smaller than the G-Shock. I got an army green version the band has a bit of texture which I love.
Great list, Russ! I'd add: 1) G7900: low temp LCD for us poor Canadians, plus a moon phase (plus lotsa movie cameos) 2) GG1000: the awesome ana-digi mudmaster with a compass 3) GW9400 Rangeman with instant stopwatch and a surprisingly useful barometer while camping! Cheers!
Yeah I wonder why the G7900 always gets left off these lists. Looks awesome and SUPER practical. I'm in Wisconsin so the low temp LCD for late season hunting is a great feature
@@MemerDad you can set an alarm for extreme pressure changes. This can signal a tornado, which is an obvious problem in a tent surrounded by trees. A very useful camping warning if you don't have a weather radio on. 👍
A forgotten about G-Shock is the G100. Over here in USA they are fairly cheap, around $35 - $50 USD. They feature all the functions you need, including dual time. It’s my staple travel watch.
I used to stay away from digital quartz watches since they would May my wrist and forearm hurt. But in the last 10 years I did enough chelation treatment for heavy metals that I’m able to start wearing quartz watches again and because of the enthusiasm of your videos I’m going to start with Casio watches for my first digital watches. You really make it seem so cool and manly, thank you!
I have small wrists and for that reason I have the G-Shock Mini (GMN-550-1DJR) only sold in Japan. Had no idea it was modeled after the first mud-resistant G-shock. Love all these little history nuggets
I liked the Neo Tokyo range that Casio did, a few years ago. You ever reviewed those, Russ? Based on the AKIRA film setting, of Japan in the future. All the best.
I’ve got the same Gshock about 4-5 times. My first one I gave to my brother when he became a police officer and it still works as the day I got it. I’ve then gotten the same model as gifts for family and friends. Best watch I’ve owned in regards to durability and function.
I have to agree Russel the GBD-200 display is bonkers, incredibly readable even from the moon (assuming you have a decent enough telescope and you're not on the wrong side of the planet). The 5610 is probably my favourite though (bonded with this one during a couple of surgeries in hospital a few years ago, this one will never be sold) ahead of my full metal 5000's and the resin 5600's. I'm also a fan of the 7900 so you can tell the tide and what the moon phase is without even looking up, now that really is amazing.
@@taoistgoth I might just have a new slight itch to scratch on the GBX-100, so many watches and so few wrists but there is always room for maybe one more. Many thanks for the suggestion.
At first I was skeptical about the G-9000, after numerous reviews warning about its hard to press buttons. But now that I own it, I wouldn't have it any other way. They constantly remind of the Mudman's sturdiness and safety, which in turn gives me a peace of mind no other watch in my collection can provide. Since I was missing a green G-Shock anyway, I snagged the one from your video for 77€. For that price the functionality it offers in combination with its protective qualities, the G-9000 is second-to-none. Not only is it a great stopwatch, it also has world time, DST and 4 alarms.
I have one of those I love it I'm a carpenter and have even accidentally had it superglued to my arm and bashed it while working and it still works perfectly:)
A G-Shock that often gets overlooked, because it is considered the DW-6900's "little brother", is the DW-9052. That model was quite revolutionary, as it was the first G-Shock that split the date and time display - a feature that has become a staple among modern digital Casios. I recently got the DW-9052-1V (the original color scheme from 1996) and IMO it blows the overrated DW-6900 (which is really just a mash-up of the DW-5900 and the DW-6600) out of the water. Such an iconic, stealthy and timeless design.
I have a DW-9052, as well. It was my brother's old watch, but he's letting me hold onto it. Had to replace the bezel, bezel studs, spring bar, and battery, but it still works after 15+ years. It's super comfy, and it still has the best EL light out of all of the CASIO watches I have. I'm not sure which design I like better - the 6900 or 9052, but I'm glad I have both.
Lovely jubly Russ, great concise review of some awesome G-Shocks. Was surprised not to see you camp casioak in the mix. Always look forward to your fun and uplifting reviews and this one is no exception. I’m going to have to get my wallet out after this!😮

I have 2 (GBD200, GM2100) of the 5 and now getting the 3rd (5600e). Your such an influencer guy man! All so true though I love wearing what I bought thank you!
Really like your "chaotic" style, very unique presentation in your videos. It reminds me of the old 90s Gamesmaster, with Dominik Diamond. Only less swearing, but relentless and breathless :D I'm also a big G-shock fan, got two so far, the B2100 and 5610U-1ER.
I have a tough solar watch that is my outdoor sports watch. It's not a G-Shock but it has done everything a G can do. The cherry on top is I got it at Walmart on clearance for $13.00 dollars.
I own 3 of these 5 (plus a few more) and the gd-350 is by far and away my favorite and most worn. The user interface is just the bees knees and I use the vibrating alarm so much, I can now never be without one. That gbd-200 is on my short list. The point is, pick a gshock with the most appealing features for your lifestyle and off you go!
Great summary, but wouldn’t call all of them essential. In my opinion every collector should own at least three squares (the 5600, the 5610 and certainly the GW-5000) a version or two of the 69 (the original and the GW69), a 2100, a high end Mudmaster (the 1K or the 2K) and a high end Frogman 👍
That 5 second countdown is exactly why the Mudman was geared towards Rally drivers. There’s a 5 second countdown before the start of the race. It’s also why the buttons are so big and chunky. So the navigator can use it with gloves and it can survive the violent crashes that come with Rally Races lol.
You're so funny, mad watch collector. G-shock watches are awesome. I own a G-shock square special edition with a blueish screen. I ordered it directly from Japan (JDM) about 2 years ago. I also own a Casio pathfinder with triple sensors that I bought around 1992. Thanks for what you bring to the watches' world. You also help me to keep up with my English skills. Keep up the good work. Bonjour from Montréal, Québec, Canada.
I have a GW-5000 1JF, DW-5735D-1B, GBA-800-8A, AE-1200 - WH, PRW-3500-1CR.... I know the last two technically aren't G-Shocks.. But hey, they are the ones I have. I'd like to get a GBD-200 and a GW-9400-1B..! Great video thanks!
I would up the ante on the DW-6900 to the GW-6900 to add solar power and atomic time keeping to an already great watch and you can find it on sale throughout the year.
Exactly I own the GW-6900 in black. Wear it everyday to work in the factory and use it as the benchmark time when setting my automatic and hand wound watches.
Love it! Especially with a brand like g-shock, which is overwhelming to sift through, it’s nice to learn about some of the more historic or iconic models, especially the original versions… this is very useful!
Don't get sucked in with all the casio, g shock stuff you'll end up needing a shop display case like certain people commenting on here. Yes you MWC. Just kidding you can't knock a gshock
I love Casio, and especially G-Shock. My first and only G-Shock is the gw-m5610. I got it about 2 years ago, and I use it almost daily. Its solar battery and extreme accuracy have made it THE time/day/date reference for every other watch/clock in the house. As interesting as their other references are, I won't be needing another G-Shock for 10-15 years (unless I take up some mud related sport/job haha.)
Would like a small plastic Casio with a countdown timer, I got 5 Casios but I don't realy like them when they dont have countdown counter and good backlight!
i own a Dw6900 zb and this thing is tough! im a merchant marine and it withstand all my trainings! mud,sea water, oil you name it! 🤣 im still wearing this up until now its my daily here on ship. 🥰
Nice video on the Gs! I have both the DW and GWM models. I can't really warm to the CasioOaks (unpopular opinion, I know). I also have the Mudman with the red buttons and the text lighting up is pretty awesome!
Excellent list of 5! My personal favorite at the moment is the bright red G7900 with moon and tide data. That GBD200 looks awesome too. Thanks for the vid 😀
I own a red gw 7900, an khaki gw9400 Rangeman, a DW 6100 from 1994 (not working actual), an DW 9000 (also not working), and today I got an GW-M 5610u. Wonder how small it is, but I like it.
You forgot the frogman! Gw-200, gwf-1000, even the newer gwf-a1000 analog frogman is good. It's the only line that g shock makes that still comes with a screw down caseback and is iso certified! It's an absolute classic!
I want a metal casioak. The New gm-2100c are way more legible but… less dressy and I don’t really like the New bracelet and adaptators. The more i think about it, the more i think this model could be the one for me… I went to a shop and i tested it. Behind the glass i was like meh and on my 6.7 inch wirst i was like oh my god. Even my gf agreed xD a premiere for a g-shock !
That last one…if it only had functionality of a ProTrek (compass and barometer mostly) would be a definite YES. As is…I do not need to know how many steps I did today. I need to know where to go and is it going to snow.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR In forests of Yukon,Canada? Good luck getting connectivity. You have better chances finding a grizzly bear. Hey, maybe he might have a working cell tower near his cave?….
MWC, I presently have three G-Shocks: the G7900, GA1000, and GA100. I'd like to get a square G-Shock like the original I had. I had one of the early ones when I served in the US Navy, BTW. I bought one of the square G-Shocks back in 1983 or 1984. I dropped it, hit it, dropped it paint, removed the paint with dry cleaning solvent, had salt water on it, and so on. No matter how I abused that watch, it came back for more! I've been a fan of G-Shocks ever since... :)
I have 2 out of these 5, huge fan of GBD-200 but I think Casio could have made it better with the addition of tough solar, I would be the first to own GBD-200 with the tough solar option, love the display and fit on my wrist
Oh nice segway from the Grand Seiko video. I wish Casio used Grand Seiko high-quality Quartz. That would be so based. With that said my abs no.1 top favourite watch is the Squared 80's inspired Solar+MBand6 G-SHOCK GW-5000U (with Titanium bracelet and case mod)
Thanks, great lineup. I have the Rangeman GW-9400-1 positive display, black with red accents. This is the only G-Shock I have and really love it, does everything I need and a lot more. I bought a G-5600UE-1 solar, positive display, but found it a bit small especially the strap, so gifted it to a friend. Considering getting another one or the 5610u positive display. The GBD-200 looks good, probably the only negative display I would buy as legibility is important for me. The Casioak watches also look good. Decisions, decisions!
Before watching: GW5000U-1JF is a simply OUTSTANDING watch and 💯 worth the extra cost. All the G anyone would ever really need, and a perfect half of a two-watch rotation (if one was working under that limitation 🤦🏼). My other "half" would be the Sinn 104 I St Sa. One perfect, indestructible solar/atomic quartz G, one beautifully engineered, perfect GADA mechanical tool watch. Great vid, thanks for posting MWC 👍
My top 5 g-shocks will be.. Rangeman GW-9400 for its complete function, blackout basic square DW-5600BB for its stealth look, sporty GBD-200, Mudman G-9300 for its comfortable wear all day long, GW-7900 for its rugged tough look and function!
haha I got the original DW6900 (not sure if the reference number is the same but it looks the same) in the 90's, it was my first "serious" watch that I wore daily going to school, lol I don't remember how do I tell time before that watch, I think I would have just looked at the clock at home before leaving for school then hope for the best don't get to school late; and while at school would solely rely on the school bell to tell time, it was a strange time without smart phone
My top 5 would be the rangeman (not the smart one), the 5600 solar I put on a steel case and bracelet, the gsteel gst-b200-1a, the gsteel gst-b300-1a and the mud master gwg-2000-1a3 {I tried one on and I really want one}. Honerable mention goes out to Any gulfmaster with solar. Fantastic watches. It's a shame I can't add protrek to this list cause watches like the titanium prw-60 are phenomenal and snobs turning their heads up to the "only" 100m WR need to give their heads a shake. I've treated plenty a Protrek very roughly and they've NEVER let me down. Just put some gorilla glass on that mineral crystal if you're paranoid like me😂
I've refurbished my GW-M5600 which I've worn for 13 years now and it looks brand new again. Didn't need another one. For me It's still the best and most durable watch I can think of. I bought a GBD-200 1er yesterday, and it's beautiful! I don't think I'll ever use the smart functions (saves a lot of battery) but it's absolutely worth the buy! Had to get it when I saw it.😁
You mentioned that with the 5610 that you wouldn’t need to worry about it for 20 years. Why is that? Shouldn’t it last forever since it’s solar powered? (given you take good care of it.)
I already have these models: - Casioak "Mystic Forest"/GA-2100FR-3AER - DW-5600BB-1ER However I noticed that for my 19cm wrist I need a bigger watch. I'm currently torn between the DW-6900MR (with metal buckle!) and the GD-350-1B. Actually I wanted my next G-Shock to have a positive display. However I love the taller digits of the GD-350, but that one also costs 40€ more. Can anyone help?
Great channel my man.been collecting them since 84.5400,5200,5600c all amongst my herd, love the 6900/5600e/G-9000. However legibility is a big deal to me now so I wear the G-Shock GR-B100 mostly everyday.look it up,it's a STUNNER.🤙
I’ve been wearing g-shocks since th 80’s but the GBD-200 is my favourite. I’d also add the GA-100… it’s huge and rugged and looks like you’re on some special ops mission
I treated myself to a Casio G-Shock DW5610 - 9ER in bright yellow last week... Great watch... My only concern is when the straps get grubby with them being a yellow colour... Can you buy Genuine Casio replacement straps anywhere? These are EPIC watches starting from around £90 GBP for 200 TIMES cheaper than a Rolex. All watch collectors should own at least one Casio G-Shock. Thank you for this video and indeed this channel.

The green G9000 was my first watch as a soldier 😅
I would up the ante on the DW-6900 to the GW-6900 to add solar power and atomic time keeping to an already great watch and you can find it on sale throughout the year.
Just don’t colour the modern colour scheme!
Exactly I own the GW-6900 in black. Wear it everyday to work in the factory and use it as the benchmark time when setting my automatic and hand wound watches.
I love G-SHOCK and my favorite is the GD-350 8 it is a mudman level watch no doubt
This man made me attracted to gshocks 🤣 I got a gbd-200 and a 5610u. The gbd-200 display is absolutely a beauty!
Thanks for your support and thank you me for supporting your Casio addiction!!!!!!!
Love it! Especially with a brand like g-shock, which is overwhelming to sift through, it’s nice to learn about some of the more historic or iconic models, especially the original versions… this is very useful!
Cheers my friend!
Don't get sucked in with all the casio, g shock stuff you'll end up needing a shop display case like certain people commenting on here. Yes you MWC.
Just kidding you can't knock a gshock
@@isfbuster6733 no you can't knock a G-Shock-either literally or figuratively!
@@markymarknj lol very true I've got 3 squares and i love them
I love Casio, and especially G-Shock.
I will probably get one myself 😊
Nobody NEEDS another G-Shock so don’t let that stop you. 😊
Would like a small plastic Casio with a countdown timer, I got 5 Casios but I don't realy like them when they dont have countdown counter and good backlight!
haha sick, 2 days ago I've picked up the gm2100!
YES!!!!!
Excellent choices! Great video 👍
i own a Dw6900 zb and this thing is tough! im a merchant marine and it withstand all my trainings! mud,sea water, oil you name it! 🤣 im still wearing this up until now its my daily here on ship. 🥰
It's none other than G-shock Analog GA-2100 !
Nice video on the Gs! I have both the DW and GWM models. I can't really warm to the CasioOaks (unpopular opinion, I know). I also have the Mudman with the red buttons and the text lighting up is pretty awesome!
The last one looks good. Do they do it in a sand camouflage colour ?
I owned a dw6900 blackout, a ga2100, and gbd200.. favorite all day long
Surely Casio will eventually put the clear GBD200 display into more of their line up. It would look amazing in the 5600 range!
Has to my friend!!!!
Super chunky but what about GGB100-1A3 Mudmaster? Plenty of cool applications. The watch the avatar troopers rock on The Way of Water, I think.
Niceeeeee. Could u include the model's name and number onscreen for 2 seconds when you talk about it?
You forgot the frogman! Gw-200, gwf-1000, even the newer gwf-a1000 analog frogman is good. It's the only line that g shock makes that still comes with a screw down caseback and is iso certified! It's an absolute classic!
5. Casio. Gshocks. Everybody should. Own
I have g shock 5600e . One of the simple hardy classy delegent look.
I've got a DW5500C unfortunately the bezel cracked off years ago. Dw6900 is my personal recommendation.
I would add the Casio DW290-1V, another Mission Impossible Watch. Love your choices :)
Just not a G but might aswell be!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Yes, you are right, forgot that part lol. Feels so much like one that I see it as a G Shock
About to grab a gbd 200! Great list sir!
Great forehand!
I just can’t wait for the gbd200 to come out in SOLAR!!! Holding out for that version.
one of the best gshock lists on yt love how versatile the list is
Way too kind my friend!
GBD200 and the Original Gravitymaster GA1000 for me
Yes, more G-Shock madness. The punters love the G.
Cheers Paul!
Hahahahaha check the phone weather app;)
Love my GA100-1A4...wear it tons, but it's not for everyone...it's BIG! Still looking forward to picking up a GBD-200!
Wow! Yes that is huuuuuuuuuge!!!! Cool though my friend!!
I have 2 out of these 5, huge fan of GBD-200 but I think Casio could have made it better with the addition of tough solar, I would be the first to own GBD-200 with the tough solar option, love the display and fit on my wrist
How is the gbd 200, i just ordered the full black
I don't think solar can fully power a MIP display, it's too power hungry.
Great thoughts my friend!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Solid you got it ;)
DW5600 all day, every day. I can have 5 of those :D Great video TMWC!
Mudman is a pearl... But there is a Mudman that trumps a Mudman, same series, slightly "racier" model... I would heartily recomend one. GW-9010.
I’m on it!!!!
I think my next watch will be a G-Shock Square, simply because I prefer the sleeker design.
One must have G-SHOCK is missing in your impressive collection : the GBX100 G-LIDE 👌🏼
Just don’t think it’s as nice looking as the GBD! I think it’ll look dated quickly but not in a good way!;)
My top 5 g-shocks will be..
Hahahahathis is great my friend!
Just put some gorilla glass on that mineral crystal if you're paranoid like me😂
Protrek on the horizon promise!!
You could honestly pick 5 gshocks at random and end up with a fun collection! Great show!
I think the 5610 with tough solar and multi band 6 would be my recommendation to anyone buying there first G
So much bang for the buck 🤘😎
it would be best if you bought a Lap Memory WS1400H Illuminator I love love it:)
Had to get it when I saw it.😁
Thank you for watching my friend!
You mentioned that with the 5610 that you wouldn’t need to worry about it for 20 years. Why is that? Shouldn’t it last forever since it’s solar powered? (given you take good care of it.)
I say a lot of things! Make them as you will man, I’m not part of Casio
I already have these models:
- Casioak "Mystic Forest"/GA-2100FR-3AER
- DW-5600BB-1ER
However I noticed that for my 19cm wrist I need a bigger watch.
Cheers Gareth!
Best g shock review
Very kind my friend!!
I have a 5610 and 6900. The mudman looks great, never seen it. Gotta get me one for my garden work.
Great content as always!
Yes Kees!!!!!! Do it!!!!!
Why no one mentions AWG-100? I love it.
Too many digital subdials! Bar one G of my 5, these watches have quite clear displays for great sporty legibility
