I wouldn't be too scared of the 68rfe. I've got 250k on mine running a full delete, bigger turbo and 37 inch tires. Still shifts perfectly and never runs over 165 degrees. I hope I didn't just jinx myself!

I had a 2010 3500 ram. My brother in law bought a new mega cab. The dealer didn't tell him about the fold down mirrors, when I turned them up he was surprised. That's one reason I like ram the tow mirrors.
Love my 2020 Laramie night edition, my steering was off when i bought mine too . No biggie . Had it aligned

That’s why trucks are so expensive.....everyone wants this fancy interior and all the bells and whistle‘s. Next thing you’ll want is heated foot pedals to keep your tootsies warm. I drive a plain old SR5 tundra. Nothing fancy at all about it......but knowing how Toyota has a great reputation for their engines and long lasting vehicles...Thats peace of mind. I’ll take that over a fancy interior any day. Good luck with your ram. It is nice looking.
Never thought I would want a truck with so many comfort options. My favorite truck previously was a $2500 1982 F150 that was a complete piece of crap. No AC, blown out dash, surface rust everywhere, couldn’t hear the radio over the sound of the 5.8 Windsor. I loved it. No distractions while driving. That being said, my 2020 Laramie is so comfortable to drive and the cooled seats are on most of the year here in NC. I’ll just have to deal with all the electronics wearing out and the costs associated with it
Good for you. If that's what your happy with the good on you. But just because you drive a base model half of a truck doesnt mean theres anything wrong with someone wanting all the bells and whistles so to say if they can afford it. You kind of sound a little jealous of you ask me. Maybe not. Maybe you have a ton of money and are just a simple kind of man or maybe youd buy that fancy truck and not talk shit about it if you had the money. Only you know that but dont talk shit about someone elses thing.

Ram has definitely had the better Interior and infotainment center since 2014+. I went out in 2015 to find my first brand new truck, compared all three 3/4 ton diesel trucks. Ram looked the most mean/muscle/ sporty, best mpg, best warranty, had the best torque, Ofcourse I went megacab and nothing compares to that… I also think at the time Ramhad the most reliable diesel emissions, I think are easier and cheaper to maintain and work on

I also have a Blacked out truck but a 1500 Limited and just love it and just got it back from getting it ceramic coated ..my opinion Ram builds a better Truck hands down and not the issues I had with Ford.

I bought a ram because I have been a dodge fan all my life, and because I have been a professional mechanic for over 30 years. My first experience with dodge trucks was my 1975 ramcharger and I put that truck through hell as a teenager and it was bulletproof! My second choice would be the older fords but I'm not a fan of the new aluminum body trucks. As far as durability, I worked for a city garage and the Ford durability far exceeded anything Chevrolet had in the fleet, but when we started adding rams to the fleet, they exceeded both. I just bought a 2018 ram, and I had a choice of every other brand, and I chose ram!
Tinters typically don’t wipe off water spots off the paint because they could scratch the paint. My old shop we didn’t wipe the paint off but we also told them what to expect.
My dad has a 2021 and he has to bring it back to the dealer for a check engine light after 4,500 miles and the def pump is bad. And I had a couple issues with the NOX sensor in my 2017 when it was new. The only issues I’ve heard with the newer rams is the emissions crap so the best thing to do is make some parts fall off
It's a damn shame they're still having issues with dpf/def emissions equipment. It's been since 2008 when it started you'd think they'd have it right by now.
What size leveling kit and tires did you have installed? Just bought a 21 ram 2500 with same night edition package so looking to church up the stance.

I would've went with the Ram if I were purchasing a new truck too, its just to nice to pass up. Not to mention It would be nice to see a Ram doing and heavy towing on the channel, especially having a best in class tow rating. That beast is ready to get to work!
I’m a Ford guy 100% but I love the look of that new truck.
I drive a Ford but, I like them all... Ram has a great looking truck, beautiful interior and one of the best diesel engine option out there. It also has its own major flaws I guess.

The newer Ford crew cab you can turn into a danc hall in the back of them. I love the room in the back of the fords.
As a longtime tinter(14-15years) and doing a lot of dealership work, most tint shops doing go crazy with cleaning up after themselves because of the liability of scratching paint with a microfiber. I no longer handcut except for the rare occasion so I don’t ever have the runs down the paint issue anymore.

That's the reason why i love base models. No sunroof to stop working or start leaking, no heated seats to randomly stop working, no uncomfortable leather seats (in summer AND winter), no huge touchscreen head unit that WILL stop working and WILL need replaced. Just gimmie the engine i want with 4x4 and I'm good.

I agree with the sellers market. I bought my 2015 F-250 in 2019 with 140k miles then sold it last month with 181k miles for $2,000 more then I bought it for. Great video glad you're posting again!
I really miss your 2nd gen videos. I have an '02 3500 that I'm upgrading and many of your videos have helped me greatly so I really appreciate those still being available. Upgrading my truck is much more difficult because I'm in Ukraine and all parts have to come from the US and trust me when I say it gets expensive with shipping and then import fees but when it's finished it will be worth it. The only truck like it in Ukraine :)

I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure your 6.7 Ford had a 6r140 which is a 6 speed not an 8, maybe they had an 8 speed🤷♂️
Ford - wanted 5k over MSRP, Chevy - chip shortage, no heated seats or heated steering wheel, and reliability abbears to be tanking right now. Ram - 5k discounted, reliability is looking good for 22, no chip shortage issues.

Just bought my second Ram 1500 w/V8 Hemi…2021 Laramie 4x4, 6’4” box (paid just under 56K out the door). Other one is a 2017 Ram 1500 Express 4x4 Quad cab (paid 31K OTD).
Tune your 68RFE and up your shift pressures. You wont have the issues that come with the 68s.

@@toomanyproblems1 If you tow all the time on tune 5 with a stick 68. of course its gonna go out. be responsible watch temps and improve your shift pressures and it will last longer than it normally would. Not saying it will be bulletproof because thats a lie.
I'm glad I found this video. I found a '22 2500 Mega Cab here in town, and have been considering pulling the trigger. But with the trasmission issues {warranty or not} is not something I want to have to deal with.
There has been a rumor swirling around for a little while now that says Ram is looking to partner up with Allison to make tranny's for them. And if they do that, I will hold out to buy a new truck. A cummins bolted to an allison transmission would be an absolute beast of a truck. Bolt up dana axles and it would last forever.
What tires did your get on that Laramie. Was that part of the package or did you upgrade? Now I’m wondering if my Laramie will come with a set like that. They look good 👍🏻
So true my 2004 Ram my passenger side door locks stopped working the windows work but the power door locks do not. Also my 2014 Ram I get electrical issues where the check engine light comes on goes off the AC will be on high drops too low then goes right back up to high dash lights also but that's how you know a true Ram owner. But I had the same thing as you basically 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, and now looking at the new ones. But the 2003 if you went on the firewall where the main computer is you will see 4 plugs and the 3rd one down if you look you will see a dark green wire with a yellow stripe if you cut that wire it takes the governor off the truck but the next year they got smart.

‘22 Superduty basically gonna get few more color choices, 12” screen. With you on selling for more than what you paid. I made 4K more on trade off my ‘19 Superduty Platinum. Picked up a ‘21 Superduty Tremor platinum. Higher tow rating, 10 speed, limited slip front diff, 5 drive modes, trailer back up assist, every option but no cab clearance lights ( not big fan of those anyways).
I’m a die hard ford guy and ford will never beat GM and Ram for interior. Ford in 2022 is still rocking plastic textures where as GM and Ram have leather, wood, metal textures throughout the cab. I’m actually thinking it may be time for a switch up as well. Ram is looking way better than fords atm.

I’m looking at 2019 3500 with Aisin trans. Deleted and tuned but the dealership won’t warranty anything including the cp4.
Looking at a 2018 f350. Hasn’t been deleted yet.

just loosen the drag link and turn it a little bit. anytime you go with bigger tires or any type of lift your steering wheel has the tendency to be off a little bit most of the time has nothing to do with alignment.

I own a ram with the Tesla style screen. It has functional buttons outlined around the screen that allow you to control the basic needs like climate, music, etc.
And that screen is an option u can get the smaller one with physical buttons

In this market if you're buying a truck every 2 years you'd be better off with undercoat and just the basic maintenance, hell with ceramic and paint protection because 2 years in it shouldn't have any rust anyways.
The average 2nd hand buyer just wants to see the oil change records up to date and maybe a month or 2 left on the warranty to give some piece of mind the truck was last serviced by someone certified to do the work.

That is one clean ass truck you got! It sucks what the EPA has done to vehicle longevity these days. I can't see how a vehicle's paint going to shit in six years is better for the environment than having paint that will last.

I have had 4 Ram trucks already looking at the new 2021 but when I bought my Ram trucks back in the day new from the dealer my 2003 Ram witch i rolled over, not fun on the Highway coming out of the Midtown Tunnel New York City but also when I got my 2004 Ram new I had to bring the trucks to the body shop because the doors gaps were even. I seen a lot of trucks where the gaps on the doors with ripped rubber. But my 2014 Ram I started to see the light scratches and Haze in the paint. Looking at the new 2021 Rams and the paint looks better but ill have to see but that's also why I never send my trucks through a carwash.
Alignment for the truck, yes certainly...to adjust the steering wheel position, by turning the drag link. Did you know RAM spot welds the jam nuts to the adjust sleeve? They also state, under no circumstance are you to remove the welds....well RAM, how do we straightened the steering wheel after an alignment?
What till that transmission goes to crap. how do I know? Because the 2017 we just traded at 62 thousand miles started slipping. Good luck with it. Dodge still need to fix those transmissions

I guess I don't get it about a sellers market. Doesn't there have to be a buyer willing to pay for a used vehicle? I think it foolish to pay a new price for one that is used. Mine is paid for and has been for a long time now. I am happy about that no more monthly payments no additional cost for DEF or top of the line trim meaning plastic Badge stuck in the body. I get it you are happy and thats well and good.
personally i’m planning on purchasing a duramax simply because the l5p and 10spd allison transmission. i’ve heard so many horror stories with fords engines and rams transmissions.
I used a 2014 3500 until this year. Over 300,000 on it, of 100k was with 400 gallons of water in a bed tank. Over 100k was with the full tank, and 14,000 lbs of trailer hooked up. I honestly don't know what people are doing to those transmissions, because the only major issues I had was 1 turbo, and the def fuckery twice. Didn't burn a drop of oil either, but I was anal about not working the engine hard, until it was at operating temp.

RAM interior has beaten Ford and Chevy for years. Even the new Ford interior (better) but it’s still second place. I own a ‘17 RAM 1500 Laramie and no issues at all. The RAM HD’s are tried and true w the Cummins, Most hotshots I see are RAM’s and I travel all over the U.S.

The 68RFE in 19-current in LO Cummins are completely different that 4th gens. The valve bodies, solenoids, and shift quality is are much stronger than in the past. And they can actually hold power unlike in the past. But, I do some heavy towing and had to go up to the 3500 SRW H.O. I think this Ram is going to really surprise you!

When I drive my car around slowly the wheel stays straight but when I go straight for a while it goes to the left but drives fine maybe that happens to the dealer

My alingment was off too. The bar was welded so it needs to be broken to adjust. I think this was a common problem.
68fre is great for towing and smooth. Only last 70,000 miles if lucky. 5th and 6 th are garbage. If u keeps it stock it will be fine but any power added, she gone!
I’m thinking in 2 yrs if you plan on trading again, that Ram will make you wish you bought a GMC. They really tank in value. The best way to truly win, is pay the thing off, and keep it forever.

@@kingaza7734 I have bought a 2018 GMC 2500HD Duramax new in 2018. I will have it paid off by the end of 2021 and it has 22,000 miles on it now. This truck will last me 20+ years and I will keep it forever. If I was worried about resale value, I wouldn’t have bought it new. These trucks lose 20k the first 18 months lol

The ford heavy-duty 10-speed transmission has been having problems and failing prematurely for people doing medium to moderate towing hauling
Stupid ford made it a none serviceable transmission with no dipstick for checking trans oil. They are supposed to be work horses made to tow, no way a trans will hold up very long without any service work.

I just bought a 2021 ram 2500 17k for 70k with tax and all the truck is soo nice. I use it for my for work it pull and it’s fast AF
In process of trading my 17 F350 for a 21 F450. The 17 is still almost worth what I paid for it new. Four years of driving for very little cost. The 21 will have sync 4 and 12 inch screen along with the other new items since 17. June is the start build date for the 450.
Funny you make the comment about, ford this and ford that, and how you like everything about the ford, like the rear-ends. How would you like Fords rear-end if you got one with a recall for axle housing failure. $80000 truck and ford said it can't be driven And had no eta time on replacement parts.
Traded my 21 f350, for a 21 ram 3500. Way nicer truck, tows better, stops a heavy load better, snappy take off power and larger cab is the only thing I'll give to the ford. Some would say the 10 speed trans. But wasn't really great enough that I had to have it. Actually for towing I think I much prefer Rams aisin 6 speed over Fords 10 speed. And best of all is Rams exhaust brake, Fords exhaust brake is pretty much none existing.

I'd stick to 35 inch with a leveling kit. I have a 6 inch lift and still get some minor rubbing with 37s
My RAM is almost 18 years young. It has a Cummins Diesel engine. Best engine ever built. I bought it new in 2003.
I had a leveling kit on my ram , and you must realign them !

Honestly I feel like the Ram interior is a little overhyped and everyone buys into what the journalist say. When replacing my old truck and going to a new Diesel I test drove all 3 major brands and while the RAM had some nice features I didn’t feel that it was ground breaking by any means and thought the Ford felt like a more complete truck and that the seats were more plush and comfortable. Had my ram leveled and I've had it aligned 5 different times and know one can get it correct and it still pulls a tad to one side finally I said screw it and they all said the new rams are wierd once they are leveled and it does something to the axle where they can get it correct ? Idk but I've had dealership and a ton of reputable businesses tell me the same thing
I’m looking for a new ram mainly because they got away from the cp4 pump that’s a disaster waiting to happen. Shows me ram cares more about reliability than what looks good on paper
But hope you're still having fun with the truck. I'll always say with the Ram trucks right now I'm restoring my 2001 Ram diesel 2500. From front to back top-to-bottom is all Gale Banks but just started getting rust along the bottom of the doors so I'm right now stripping the truck and going to Rhino line the whole outside of the truck but my friend owns a body shop so I'm having it professionally done and also having it colored matched to the original paint color which is burgundy red. The motor is so great in that truck and I only have 170k miles on it and it's a 2001 watch is nothing for that.😎👍🇺🇸🍻

I just traded my 2017 lariat in and got exactly what I paid for it 2 yrs ago Bought a new mega cab limited Cummins for $72k (2020) left over .The ram interior is by far the best of any truck . I knew if I kept my 17 any longer the value would drop and I couldn’t see spending $80k on a 21f250 with the same exact interior as my 17. Got the mega cab because the Ford crew cab is the best in its class and you need a mega cab to equal the same room as the Ford. I’m hoping the cp4 is covered under the 5 yr 100k warranty from ram .
