Yes. IPS simply doesn’t go to under 4 ms without extreme overdrive that causes massive negative ghosting; the modes people use will be 4 ms at best. Which is why 240 Hz is the highest that arguably could make sense. 280 is worse, not better.

Correction at 3:37 : Since I have this monitor, for the love of God, DON'T use the embedded speakers. Even for incidental use, they are horrible. Most likely you'll have dedicated audio already, but just letting you know. The audio of your phone will be LOUDER than what you will be able to hear from the monitor. This screen is amazing, but it's clear that to save money, Asus completely dumped the audio quality.

To be honest I love it as there's no RGB so no distractions i can still use my corosair RGB without worrying about compatibility issues as there is none but as long as I can run ultra high FPS with my full size rtx 2080ti and i don't want higher resolution as im after speed and stability not visuals really but its still good and its solid besides if i game and stream there watching from there own screens so its not really a big thing jacksepticeye uses a simple dual 144hz 1080p monitor setup to do what he dose so its alright.

hey. i dunno if you will read this. i just bought the asus vg249qm1a it should be close to the vg259qm. is this true? like the vg259qm is slightly brighter and the 10hz more when oc thats all i can find (and the vg259qm should be the smaller version of the vg279qm). the 1a at the end of the model name should just be the non adjustable stand. like there are close to zero reviews on the vg249qm1a its incredible xD and im confused if i can take the 259qm and 279qm reviews for reference. would be very nice if you can tell me the difference between the vg249qm1a and the vg259qm/vg279qm. ty in advance

Pro tip though: people should stop sheeping eachother by claiming motion blur reduction (black frame insertion, dyac+, ELMB, ULMB etc) provides a ''smoother'' visual. It actually does the *exact* opposite. It'll make any refresh rate and framerate appear clearer during motion, but choppier because it... well... removes motion blur - which usually creates the illusion of smooth movement. It increases motion clarity at the cost of smoothness, usually some brightness (unless dyac+) and approximately 0.5-1 frame of input lag. Remember those flickering 60hz CRT displays (if you're old, like me)? Yeah, that's the idea, but at much higher refresh rates usually.
i've said that again. I press insta-like because its so unusual for a nice girl to speak the technical-nerd language. And speak it correctly of course!
Only good competitive games can make full use of a fast 1080p monitor. I notice people who buys 1440p or 4k monitors are casual players who suck in game. Those expert and pros in csgo, overwatch, pubg that really require skills to play, these type of games usually buy 1080p monitors with high refresh rate.. so I guess u are just the noobie casual gamer who goes for high reso but totally no skill. ;)

People buy 2080ti for a reason, not to have enough graphics, they want to have their eyes burning off because of the pixel density. Gamers who only play competitive games are still the minority, you're always doing something else, maybe some triple-a games, maybe a movie or Netflix once in a while, where 1080p in a 27-inch display just don't cut it. I am just saying, from my experience, watching youtube videos from a 27-inch FHD screen sucks. Plus, real competitive gamers would prefer a 24-inch screen anyway, since they'll need to be close to the screen, and 27 inches is just a little bit too big.

Nobody knows, it's really amazing value, I'd say the best fast monitor choice right now. Technically none of the IPS panels are really 1ms, so ignore that spec, but this really is a top performer atm.

Depends on the price and your alternatives. I'd say going for 1440p (even 240hz) is still the best all-round experience. If you just want a fast 1080p, and this isn't too expensive, it's still a good option.

Turning hdr on in windows always looks off. You only do that to watch/play hdr content.
