Great review. I actually like the stand for this monitor. The flat(ish) base is flat enough to hold decorations or small figures, which is right in my wheelhouse, and it's very adjustable which is highly desirable to me. I've looked at some other curved monitors and several of them had fixed stands which makes them an automatic skip.
Thanks! And huh, interesting point. I was going to mention that the forward slant of the base wouldn't make it ideal for something like that, but I guess if you just use some rubber adhesive or something on the bottom of the figures etc. it'd be perfect for it.

If you aren't super serious about competitive gaming then you should definitely go with this one. The 240 Hz is really overkill for most people in my opinion, and the larger size and higher resolution of the TUF makes it much better for general use like watching movies/anime.

@@ellogames96 Unfortunately I never documented them and can't remember what they were, but I do remember just calibrating according to my preferences. I'd recommend just playing around with all of the settings to see what works for you.

Wasn't able to test with the Series S, but I've seen a few comments saying their X and S work great with the WQ so I'm sure the same is true for the VQ.
I just ordered mine for this reason. Being that it has USB 2.0, the series X should have no problem dishing out 1440 @ 120hz for that awesome 60fps quality. I get this monitor in tomorrow, I can update you guys
Thanks so much for this review i could barely find any videos on this model. Will get mine in a few days been checking the specs and all that all the time sounds like too it's good to be true lol.
I tried calibrating this monitor as close to sRGB as possible. I also had the VG27AQL1A next to it, as well as the Asus pro art professional monitor. This monitor is great for gaming, but not for graphics work and color correction. The VG27AQL1A came much closer to srgb although this monitor VG27WQ had better black performance and uniformity. Despite rtings recent review of the VG27AQL1A and their proposed icc profile, i found one color that was totally off on both monitors. It's a reddish coral color R191, G76, B89. The Asus VG27AQL1A was much better in HDR, I find this monitor is too bland. I find this strange since they are both rated at 400? I did find HDR a tad better on the Dell gaming monitors Dell S3220DGF , exaggerated
Gino, I'm a noob at this. Can you please explain what settings I have to change in simple terms to get to your suggested profile? I have to add that I will be playing on the FPS mode and would like to change colors so that best performance and color accuracy is given. :) Thank you so much
@@JohnnyEase It really depends what you want to watch. The VG27AQL1A is much more color accurate than this monitor. If you can afford the VG27AQL1A for $50 more go for it. I returned this one. To get close to sRGB try RTS/RPG Brightness 74, cont, 74, saturation 30-34. Color temp user R,95 G93, B89. Do not use Shadow boost. @@ginogiori5285 Thx for taking the time to reply, I just cancelled my order bc Inrealized adaptable sync and ELMB are only available on AQ and the TN panel. I now ordered the LG 27GL850, focusing more on latency
Because WQ is for games. The VG27AQL1A is for those who needs very accurate colors like photo editors and such. But I wouldn't even care and just grab the WQ instead because of the better response times. It's like 8ms vs 20ms. That's a huge difference!
If you can get it for a good price, then it's a great choice IMO. You might just want to check out a few other options, as I think you might be able to get an even higher refresh rate for the same price. I could be wrong, but just look around for a few more options before settling for it.

You shouldn't have any trouble hitting that, depending on the game of course. You might just have to lower some quality settings in certain games to hit that 165Hz, but it's a fair tradeoff to make.

Just bought the Monitor and I think I‘m pretty sure I‘m gonna return it. The Ghosting is awful, for me unplayable… before that I had the BenQ XL2411z (which is almost 10 years old) and it has nearly zero ghosting. But unfortunately this Monitor is the ghost himself…
@@Tx_Jay_ I mean that the ghosting is horrible. It's a complete dealbreaker. I did the ghosting Test and with the speed of 1920 pixesl the image (Ufo) appeared 2 times on the right and left side. So in total I saw 5 Ufos instead of one clear image. So I just can recommend you to buy a Monitor which is not ghosting. I bought now an LG one and it's so much better.
With ps4 not supporting 1440p, but with Xbox series x supporting it, will this do the job for both? 4K quality for single player games & 1440p for competitive gaming when needed?
This monitor doesn't go up to 4K, unfortunately. And I'm hesitant to recommend this monitor for the PS5 until Sony officially confirms support for 1440p.
@@kashif4463 No way to confirm this without having the console with me to test, unfortunately. We'll see all of the answers to this stuff as people start picking up the consoles today.
I use this monitor to game on a Xbox Series S. It displays 3840x2160 (4k) at 60 fps or I can lower it to 1440p and get 120 fps. I'm not sure why 4k isn't mentioned in this review, or maybe mine is an updated version??
It's got me HYPED dude! Pricing is actually a little lower than I expected, and even though I don't trust their graphs at all, with the specs they showed off those things should be absolute MONSTERS. Can't wait to get my hands on one!
I also do a lot of color calibration. I will hold you to your word. I am placing this VG27WQ right next to an Asus PB328Q which has perfect color, and perfect blacks. I can really compare colors when monitors are side by side. If what you say is correct, this would be the first color accurate gaming monitor I have tried. Receiving it next week along with the VG27AQL1A. Tried both Dell monitors Dell S3220DGF and DELL S2721DGF, they are good monitors but come nowhere close to the sRGB colors I can see on the Asus PB328Q, which is a professional monitor. Also tried the Gigabyte 32", but returned it immediately.
Please hit me up with your findings once you've had a chance to test it out, quite curious about what other people's experience with it is. I never claimed in the video that it had the greatest color accuracy or anything like that, just that it seemed good compared to the one I use and a few of the others I've checked out. I wouldn't claim anything like flawless color accuracy without having the proper tools to conclusively prove it.
@@TheTechTank I will compare. Also with the Ips. I have a good feeling about the VG27WQ. On most gaming monitors I can tell if they are color accurate just by adjusting the reds. Most gaming monitors have too much magenta in the red. Anyway, I will have them both by end of next week.
Hey man Im planning on getting the Asus VG258QR since it`s on sale for 250€ but now i saw this monitor and i can`t decide which one i should get (Great review btw)
Appreciate it, man! Those monitors offer different experiences, IMO. The VG27WQ with its bigger display and higher resolution is a great middle ground for people who like their esports and AAA games equally, or esports gamers with a monster PC that can push high frame rates at 1440p. While the VG258QR looks to me to be a more pure esports gaming-focused monitor, with G-sync thrown into the mix as an added (expensive) bonus.
$260 on Amazon now. I think ima get one. I've been wanting to upgrade but can't really go over $250. At that price do you think I should get this or is there something better? I ask cause I know this video is a couple years old.
I'm glad this monitor has speakers built in - I use it for my Xbox Series X and don't always want to wear a headset. with the headphone jack though I can add my own speakers.
Two questions if anyone can help;- What’s the difference between this and the 27WQB1 variant. Also how bad are the colours? I’ve heard racing mode is the only one that’s accurate.
The VG27WQ is 120% sRGB, while the VG27WQ1B is 120% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3. The VG27WQ is 400cd/㎡ brightness, while the VG27WQ1B is 250cd/㎡. The VG27WQ has HDR400, while the VG27WQ1B is HDR10.

Appreciate it! The two have super similar panels, so don't think you can go wrong either way. If the pricing is very similar, I'd personally go with the Samsung, but if one's much more expensive than the other I'd go for whichever's cheaper.
I'd love to get three of these in a triple monitor setup, with the curve they should work amazingly together. The viewing angles should be perfect for it too.
@@TheTechTank So it would be better to buy the VG27WQ1B right? because its currently for 290€ available for me :) and the other for like 360€ btw, I am am amazed how well done your videos are!
I just got an LG ultra gear and I chose it over this monitor because of the reviews it got online. However watching your review makes me feel like I should have bought this one.
Depends on your preference, tbh. I prefer flat panels because I do video and photo work, but for gaming the curve does make the experience a little more immersive.
If you're talking about the AQ etc. models, then they're going to be either very similar minus the curve, or in the case of the AQ where they use a different panel type, they might be even better.
1 year later are you experiencing any ghosting or tearing? Tuf monitors seem to have a history of starting this around 6 months in, and I would like to know if this model is any different than the vg32vq1b in this regard.
I had to send the monitor back after the review, so I can't say, unfortunately. But ghosting and tearing, as far as I know, isn't something that only starts after 6 months, but something you'll notice from the start... Could be wrong.
I was looking into getting three "VG32VQ1B" when they were on sale just recently, but didn't receive my tax return in time. I had sent a email to Asus to see if they would honor the sale price when I could order them, and they wouldn't.. so I decided they can pound salt and I'll buy from another company. Glad I did I found a really cool screen the Samsung Odyssey G9 costs is about the same, and has more bells and whistles.. Will be ordering that soon as I can :D
That's epic, man, Samsung's pretty much the best option out there when it comes to monitors (since they produce their own panels), I just wish they weren't so prohibitively expensive 😭
What do you think about the colors? Mine is slightly redish by default... And it is really annoying after an IPS monitor. I think mine needs to be recalibrated
Yip, as I said in the video there's definitely a warmer tint to the display out of the box, but that's pretty easily fixed with some manual calibration. For me just lowering the reds by about 8-9 points, and the green by 3 or 4 worked for me. One of the comments on here has a full list of calibration settings you might want to try.
I’ve got bugs stuck inside this monitor and can see them in between the outer and inner layers. Any idea how it get them out? Take the screen apart? It’s driving me crazy!
Awesome! After playing around with it for a bit drop by again and let me know how you found it! And yeah, I've been eyeing the 5900 myself, but I think we'll only see those chips become more widely available like in March 😂
That Asus Tuf monitor looks good. Can the Asus Tuf Gaming BG27WQ stand be switched out to a monitor arm mount and not use the stock stand that it comes with?
The PS5 doesn't natively support 1440p resolutions, so getting a 1440p monitor would be a waste. A 1080p 120+ Hz monitor would be better and save you some money.
I’m not sure if anyone here has used NewEgg for buying this kinda stuff but would you recommend me buying it from Newegg? Because at the moment it’s on sale for 329.99 but I’ve heard a lot of negative things about the site including sales tax issues and a bunch more. I would buy it from Amazon right now but it’s out of stock until February 27 which sucks so any suggestions would be amazing!
I've never personally used Newegg as they're not available here, but since most tech influencers in the US work with them, they must be pretty reliable.
Lol, can't say I've had anyone coming in with that specific problem. I can't even remember what power connector this used, but whatever connector it is should be somewhere between all of the HDMI and Displayports no?
Hi buddy, if you have the ps5, will you make a video to show us how we can put it on 120hz? Looking over the internet and many many people are trying to put it over from 60 to 120 hz but it wont work..
Would love to, but a PS5 is very much outside of my budget right now. I've been seeing that just switching from "quality" to "performance" in some game settings should do the trick.

Damn these confusing product names! Sorry about that, man, I was working on multiple monitors and must've gotten confused. I've checked the manual for this specific model and you're absolutely right. Amazing video, I’m thinking of getting it, so ah should I get this or Gigabyte KD25F? I watch movies, anime and play games. Only a few competitive fps but yeah. What do you think is better for me?
If you aren't super serious about competitive gaming then you should definitely go with this one. The 240 Hz is really overkill for most people in my opinion, and the larger size and higher resolution of the TUF makes it much better for general use like watching movies/anime.

So how was it?????
How was it?
I did find HDR a tad better on the Dell gaming monitors Dell S3220DGF
, exaggerated
If i remember correctly HDR looked quite poor on this monitor compared to the VG27AQL1A.

@@ginogiori5285 is the VG247Q1AY any good in the areas you suggested
Because WQ is for games. The VG27AQL1A is for those who needs very accurate colors like photo editors and such. But I wouldn't even care and just grab the WQ instead because of the better response times. It's like 8ms vs 20ms. That's a huge difference!
HDR is locked when it’s in Console mode if any of you are wondering. Look it up, the monitor guide is online
Im planning on getting the VG27VQ model, its 1080p with 165Hz, for my gtx 1080, is it a good choice ?
If you can get it for a good price, then it's a great choice IMO. You might just want to check out a few other options, as I think you might be able to get an even higher refresh rate for the same price. I could be wrong, but just look around for a few more options before settling for it.

@@Tx_Jay_ I mean that the ghosting is horrible. It's a complete dealbreaker. I did the ghosting Test and with the speed of 1920 pixesl the image (Ufo) appeared 2 times on the right and left side.
Tried both Dell monitors Dell S3220DGF
and DELL S2721DGF, they are good monitors but come nowhere close to the sRGB colors I can see on the Asus PB328Q, which is a professional monitor.

Appreciate it, man! Those monitors offer different experiences, IMO. The VG27WQ with its bigger display and higher resolution is a great middle ground for people who like their esports and AAA games equally, or esports gamers with a monster PC that can push high frame rates at 1440p. Depends on your preference, tbh. I prefer flat panels because I do video and photo work, but for gaming the curve does make the experience a little more immersive.
Do you think this would be good with the non curved version. How similar would it be?
If you're talking about the AQ etc. models, then they're going to be either very similar minus the curve, or in the case of the AQ where they use a different panel type, they might be even better.
which one is good for gaming and editing ?
ASUS TUF Gaming VG27VQ 27" or AOC 27G2U/BK 27 //

For gaming and editing, the AOC should be better because of its IPS panel (better color accuracy).
I took a look at this monitor and i think im gonna get it, because now the 1080p one is only 200$ on amazon
That's a great price.
What is the difference between BQ and AQ? Thanks!
The only real difference is that the AQ uses an IPS panel, and BQ uses TN (IPS is better, IMO).

Whats the difference between this one and the VG27WQ1B? It’s less money and looks pretty much the same
Seems pretty much identical in all the areas that matter.
Does it run well with hdmi 2.1 instead of 2.0?
Hi buddy,
if you have the ps5, will you make a video to show us how we can put it on 120hz? Looking over the internet and many many people are trying to put it over from 60 to 120 hz but it wont work..
Would love to, but a PS5 is very much outside of my budget right now. I've been seeing that just switching from "quality" to "performance" in some game settings should do the trick.
