Prumihimo in lockdown! Without access to help with filming and editing this video is filmed in one take by me. The quality is not as good as other videos, but I hope you will enjoy the chatty, more informal style. This format gives me the opportunity to share the techniques and tricks I have learnt in over a decade of braiding. Sometimes it is the simple tips that make all the difference!

Great job on working and filming without assistance, Pru. The braids shown are beautiful, a little more concentration needed to remember the movements needed--maybe this is what I am looking for to help me be more centered during this awful covid 19 "thing". I hope you are well and continue to keep healthy. Thanks for sharing the technique with us.

Thank you Sue. We are all doing well. Concentrating on learning g a new braid structure is definitely therapeutic!

Learning a new braid structure is a great way to extend your skills and challenge yourself. The key to success is practise, practise, practise!

You have a very pleasant voice. I want to try this with paracord.

Paracord is good for kumihimo, but be aware that the wide cord will stretch the slots on your disk. That is ok for further paracord use, but the slots will no longer be able to grip fine cords.

Do you ever work in fine wool?

I like to work with lots of different cords and yarns, but for learning a new braid I find satin cord has a slippery surface which makes it easier to get the tension even. However, knitting and crochet yarns work up into beautiful and varied braids.
