Thank you. I appreciate that you get directly to the intructions and I like the way that you give information and explain why you are doing what you are doing. I usually prefer written instructions simply because there is a lot of extraneous stuff people put into their videos however I REALLY like your style. I wanted to start with flat braids which is how I found you. I am now going to try starting with this braid since that is your recommendation. I did have some success with the flat braid you explained with the stripe down the middle. I will definitely be interested in more flat braid tutorials once I figure out what I'm doing.
Thank you for the wonderful video. I tried to learn from a book but could not understand how simple this really is. Your video made it very clear. And thanks for all the tips. I can do this now.
Perfect video: clear, to the point, NO MUSIC, makes me want to try, and maybe teach 7yr old great-granddaughter. Ordered disk, on my way to find threads! Thank you!
I have been doing Kumihimo for a few years now, and I wish this video was out when I was just starting to learn, as you explain exactly why things are done and you do it in a very clear and precise manner. Common questions are, which order do I move the cords, and does it matter and which way do I turn the disk and does it matter. You have explained all of that and it makes so much sense! Thanks for all of your videos!
This instructional video is absolutely lovely. Easy to follow for beginners, calmly explained and yet still so passionate about the craft. Super excited to start my own braids!
I've tried half a dozen times to learn kumihimo. You taught so well that I've made my first piece without a flaw. Also you spoke to what the majority of the purist makers do, so I've learned counter clockwise with a view to learning much more. My daughter and I live in central Kentucky. Horse country. People are making horsehair bracelets and getting $95 for them, and they're nowhere near as perfect as the technique I've learned tonight. Thank you so much. You're an exceptional craftsman.
Thank you very much! Marvellous! Picked up this foam disk from an op shop and being a crafter I knew someone out there would show me what to do with it. Never seen this before. Super excited to have a go now! Big hello from Australian 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so much for a very informative and enjoyable video for newbies. I so enjoyed listening to you. Being an American I appreciate the very clear and precise way the you speak. I am a beader and crocheter but wanted to learn kumihimo. I intend to watch your video on incorporating beads. Love making bracelets. Thanks again.
I have just got my first set of kumihimo plates and find your videos so so helpful.they are very clear and precise.i couldn't have learnt so quickly without you.thankyou very much.
Estimada Profesora: desde Argentina mi agradecimiento e infinitas felicitaciones por las creaciones que realiza. Leer su página y ver los videos es un regalo para mi alma. Gracias.!!! Bendicines de salud!!! y creatividad.
I have just started doing Kumihimo and I have found your tutorials extremely useful. Watching your video I have made the 8 cord braid and now I am doing a 16 cord braid which is turning out very nicely. Thank you.
My adventure to this video: Watched "Kimi no Na ha" (Your name) Went to Hida, Japan. Learned how to make Kumihimo on a real Kumidai from an olderly Japanese lady. Wanted to review what I learned so I dont forget. Thank you for the clear video, the foam disk method is a little different, but the braid is the same.
Love your videos and blogs! Wanted to THANK YOU for adding CC to your videos on RUclips. Sadly, not enough people do this, which means many of my friends have to rely on repeating viewings of any videos to "catch" was is being said and done. And, my hearing is going, as well, so having CC on videos tutorials is FANTASTIC!!! I'm on vacation right now, didn't bring enough bobbins, and can't wait to get back so I can try 12/16 + cords :-D PEACE ....
@@Prumihimo -- for some reason I didn't see your reply until now. So sorry for not replying earlier. Yes, it IS amusing when the CC is a bit "off," though I've become pretty good at sorting it out . Thank you again, for the CC, and the tutorials. PEACE ...
Thank you for this way of doing the braid. I used to do it the other way round and I will also try the spot one and see what I come up with. Thank you so much.
I learnt kumiimo thru your videos, very well explained and taught. Hats off to you. Made many with beads. Not only you but every other Kumihimo lesson says to use the rule of thumb measure = 1X 3 cord length. But I seem to be always left over with more than at least 2 feet. This is a waste - so what rule should I be following ? TKU
Kumihimo is a HOBBY, not a jewelry making process. Its hand made costume accessories. Jewelry must involve JEWELS 😜 hince the word JEWELRY😮😅😊. Get it? I love this art and I LOVE your channel.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you found this video useful. There are lots of different kumihimo videos available, so I thought it was time for me to share what has worked consistently for me for many years!
Hi i have a question Does the number of how many space in the disc matters? I mean like in you disc you have 6 empty spaces between the NORTH and the EAST ? If my disc is different, does this make a difference in the final shape of the braid?
Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to get better close-ups, especially for those who do not speak English. In the meantime you might find it helpful to look at the photos on my website. This link will take you to the written instructions for Round Braid.

This video is clear and simple. As a beginner, I am inspired to begin at once. Thank you!
Thank you for explaining slowly & thoroughly. Another teacher I watched was too quick.
Thank you so much. Your patience is appreciated greatly.

It is good to hear what a difference the CC makes for you. Sometimes it gets the words a bit wrong, which gives you a laugh as well!

Thank you so much! I’m a beginner and your instructions are clear and slow enough for me to follow! Looking forward to making beautiful jewellery. 😊

Very helpful Ty 😊
Thanks, this is really helpful.
Thank you so much for the demonstration. It's ideal for a beginner like me. Can one substitute the bobbins with anything else? Thanks
Lovely video-so clear. What diameter or the cords you are using?
Do you half the length and tie a loop in it or a loop at the end of the length? Thanks
I am not totally sure what you are asking. I use 3 times the required finished length for each cord and I tie all the cords together in a knot.
Thank you!!!
MY COMMENT FOR KONGOHIMO KUMIHIMO AS A BEGINNER THIS IS A GOOD STARTER LESSON BY THE NIGHT RIDER
Glad you think so! Thank you.
Are you using 2mm satin cord? Thanks!
Katalin Fidel - for this one I am using 1mm satin cord.
If I have a 1 mm leather cord, what total mm diameter should I expect with this braid??

Pru, how can I get the Prumihimo disc?

How she gone skip the way she tied the knot and put them together smh she literally start with putting strings on the wheel
I have lots of other videos showing the basics so I decided to aim this one at people who know how to set up the disk.
Te pasas el tiempo hablando....
Yes, that is my style. For English speakers it is good, but not so good for you. Sorry!
