I got to tell you that you are the easiest teacher to learn from. I get where your coming from where we are going. It makes ot so easy to get it. Thank you, your awesome.
Very interesting and nice learning session, thanks bro. Just one question, you did not teach us "how to end the braiding?" How to connect the loose ends and how to give a loop at the end.
Congratulations excellent weave, I actually make a similar one for USB or dog leashes but I don't use the disk since I don't have that and I fabrics only freehand greetings from Mexico
This is an 8 strand Z-twist *kongo-gumi* (金剛組, "gumi" means braid"). To get an S-twist, do right up, left down vs left up, right down. The kongo-gumi pattern can be expanded to any additional multiple of 4 strands.
@@Paracordguild More than 30 years ago (!!!) I came across a book by Catherine Martin (Kumihimo: Japanese Silk Braiding Techniques) and thought "It would be cool to tie knots in fancy cord". Investigating how much it would cost to get a marudai was my most dramatic crafting sticker shock event as previously I had just bought a crochet hook here, a skein or roll of cheap yarn there. Nothing that cost more than a dollar or 2. Now I make my own looms and am a member of the Braid Society, etc.
Hi Raquel from Florida Can I use this technique to do a bracelet or necklet with paracord which cord should I buy for this project thank you for your help
How would u add a regular Paracord clasp? I've been just putting them on before I load my disk and they look really good but was wondering if u has a way of doing it a different way.
Je veux acheter un disque kuhimo mais quelle largeur faut-il prendre pour faire une laisse paracorde pour chien, j'ai vu qu'il y a plusieurs largeurs de disque à la vente. Petit moyen ou grand?
Thank you for the video. It is both instructive and thorough but I'm wondering if instead of rotating anti-clockwise can it be rotated clock-wise or even a combination of both?
Indeed it can! Playing with patterns like that is the next level of kumihimo! You can get a spiral effect in the opposite direction or a zig-zag pattern. Both have their uses.
Thanks for the easy to understand tutorial. I'm a little confused about the length ratio, tho. 3.5:1 ? That seems a bit extreme, especially since you mentioned in another reply that this braid has a hollow core. Where's all that material going? Are you certain you didn't mean 1.35:1 ? I'm asking because I found this video when I was looking for different/more interesting ways to braid speaker and headphone cables. 15m of cable for a one meter braid would be an obvious no-no for several reasons - and very unfortunate since I really like the elegant look of this pattern.
Ok, I just watched the your video about the 4 color variant and that cleared things up. 3.5:1 for the 4 cords, so 1.75:1 for each of the 8 individual strands. Still a bit high for my specific use case, but at least I was able to make sense of the numbers ^^.
You just finish the rope and do the loop with a simple rope whipping? If you don't know what this is, search youtube. For advanced technique you could splice a loop into the rope.
Can someone tell me... if the ratio is 3.5 to 1.. if I'm doing a 3ft braid, is each leg 3.5 feet ie 7ft in total or 3.5 in total, folded... thankyou......
Mark, I knew that you'd make this understandable. Will you please suggest, or leave a link, to some kumihimo disks and plates? Alternately, the correct foam to use, so we can make our own? Thanks!!!
I just tried this, adding a third pair, and got a 3-color spiral. I just had to space the pairs out somewhat evenly on the disc. Seems like you can extend this to 4 pairs, 5 pairs and beyond. Your limit is the number of slots in the disk. This is so cool, and amazingly efficient!

Beautiful craftmanship and perfect teaching thanks

yeah was thinking that i dont think i would need the disk although i would be way fast with the disc
Thanks for the video. I’ve been wanting to see how these are done. Thank you for giving your time to teach the videos. They are so very easy to follow
do you ever show how to end the braid? how do you end a 4 stranded project or an even bigger one? 8 strands, 16 etc…?
Great content and professional expertise... Thank You
Plz show the finished product including termination.
🙏🇨🇦
He’s making a series of videos. This one is the basics of the braiding itself.
thank you, amazing video and so easy to follow!!
Can you show in a video how to time both ends of this knot together to make like a necklace(round circle) thanks for this video was very helpful

Loving the additional info on these videos! Respect!
@@Paracordguild glad you see it as useful and not nitpick-y. 8-)
Heh, there is always more to learn! When did you get into kumihimo?

I have one question how do you end it cuase that wasn't in the vidoe

Thanks for showing us !!!
Excellent tutorial Thank you very much!🙏👌
Great tutorial, thank you so much, how much cord do i need for the knot on the handle?

When the disc is rotated, is it essential to rotate the disc in the same direction each time?
Great...thx a lot🍃💫💫💫💫💫🍃
How do I make the other one with four colors I have three colors I want a spiral
thanks. simple easy to understand.

What size cord you using how many strands
How some ropes become thick? Is it because they use more strands?

@@Paracordguild Thank you...opens up many design options.
This is great but unless I missed something you didn’t show how to tie it off or terminate it.
I need that too.
What do you mean when you say size 1 or 3 paracord? I am used to buying paracord based on what weight it can handle. Does the 1 or 3 mean 1 mm or 3mm?
Google type 1 paracord, type 3 paracord, etc. if he said “size”, he misspoke.
Thanks for the easy to understand tutorial.

Would it be possible to make with this technique a closed loop with some hardware? For a camera wrist lanyard

Por favor subtítulos en español,gracias por tus videos
oooh, this looks fun. How tight is it in the centre? Could it be done around a core, for getback whips etc?
Hey!
Once braided you stretch it out a bit and it is fairly tight. To make it stiffer a core would be a good idea!
SUuupeer👍💯
Hasard je viens juste de me acheter le disques et le carré et vous faites des tuto.merci il me tarde de découvrir vos autres vidéo
Is it possible to form a tapered braid using this method?
Wow., Nice., But where can i buy that tools for making of that rope.
Amazon?! Other than that there are part 1 and part 2 of this series where he shows how to make these tools for free from some cardboard.
Can you do a three color round braid

Hey!
I recommend getting a set of discs- like a 3 or 5 pack. They are much more affordable that way.
In general, all discs work!
How does one finish the end?
aso for dog lead how would i make the handle (the part you hold on to) feels this videos needs a part 2
Thank you very much. Please can you do a video with 3 colors ? I don't find any to help me :(
3 colors? So I'd imagine u would have to use 6 strands instead of 4
Or just make one of the strands A different color
?❓❔⁉️ ?
Dónde compro esa herramienta ❓
Looking forward to seeing the dog leash. Could you start the leash with a Matthew Walker knot, then attach to the kumihimo disc?
Where can I get the disk
Where can i buy, plate or what we call pattern?

Can you use more pieces of cord?

You don't need that 🔵
wawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I found that confusing, you went back and forth, not just here's what we are making, here's how to set up, here's how to weave.
Hey!
Back and forth in what way?
