    Just some advise to anyone trying this braid...mark the disc with north, South, East & west so when you put it down, you pick it up with north at the top to avoid getting the cord twisted...thanks for a new to me kumi pattern...you are a great teacher...please do more projects with this braid...thank you so much!

    Another great video Pru! Love the colors in your competition piece. Congratulations!

      Thanks Pat. I can't really claim the credit for the colours because for the competition everyone was sent the same selection of beads and so the challenge was to try to make something very unusual.

    Excellent video tutorial Pru. I like the variations achieved by adding different colours. That competition piece is beautiful too. 😊

    Wonderful video! You are so talented. How did you finish off this bracelet? What is the end cap? Do you use one for a round braid or a flat braid? Thank you for sharing!!

    Hi Pru, your videos are fantastic, thank you. I'm going to be using the disk for making pull cords on crochet bags, I looked on your site but couldn't find any info on how to finish the cords without using findings. Is it possible and how do you do it? Thank you in advance. Regards, Suzy.

      Kumihimo is an ancient art, so the date does not matter too much!

    Love the technique...how long are your cords + what mm are they? Hope to hear....will make great key chains!

    • @Prumihimo
      @Prumihimo  7 лет назад

      For this braid use the same cord allowance as for Round Braid, which is 3 times the required finished length for each cord. This is a generous allowance, but it is better to have too much than to run out mid braid. For the samples I used 2mm satin cord, but you can use narrower or wider and it will still look great.

    Does it make any difference to the end result if we do one side at a time ?

    • @Cre8tiveConnexions
      @Cre8tiveConnexions 6 лет назад +1

      I meant the second part beginning when all the strands are at the sides.

    • @Prumihimo
      @Prumihimo  6 лет назад +1

      If that feels more comfortable for you then it is fine.

    Pru, could you tell me how to finish off the cording? I am at the end and not sure how to come off the disc. Thanking you in advance.

    • @Prumihimo
      @Prumihimo  7 лет назад +1

      Are you making a key chain? If so, the best way to finish off is to braid for a bit longer than you need, remove the braid from the disk and tie a knot to prevent unravelling. Then take a needle and matching thread and sew through the braid at the point where you want to have the binding. Sew through several times until the thread is firmly secured in the braid. Then bind the thread around the braid to make a neat binding. Finish off by sewing through the braid as before. Now you can trim off the thread ends. Either undo the knot in the braid or snip it off. Undo the braiding and trim the cords to the tassel length you want.
