I have had a 14 string set ready to braid for over a year and I waited because I couldn’t figure out how to make it work. This just makes so much sense now! Thank you for sharing, I can finally get to work!
I found a pattern for a cool rainbow braslet. I did all I needed to start the work... but I wasn't ready for it to have 20 strings... I tried to figure out what to do. Cuz I could not make regular 2x2 setup. And I didn't found any videos where someone shows the right movement. I found one of your shorts where you show the setup but it didn't included strings replacement. And this video here where you show how to make 10 strings braslet. Which as I thought will help me. I tried to find out how to solve it like.. 15+ times, but had to start from the beginning over and over again.. Maybe because I'm very new to it... but it's really hard to me. Can you please show how to make 20 strings braslet using dhis disc? Or if you already did - can you please give a link to the video? Sorry for bothering. And thank you for your work!
Never a bother! Ask all you want. I have a short video that shows a 20 string setup ruclips.net/user/shortsTGwYJ7Sc3CQ If you need more help with that let me know. Perhaps I can make a longer video to go over it.
I've not and since reading this tried a couple times but don't see a way that works. You can run one strand in the middle of 8 and I know that works great.
Hi, I`d like to braid a dogleash, so I´ve asked myself ..do i need more length on the two part strings ( the yellow ones in your Video ) !? Thanks Sandra
Hi Sandra, yes, you probably would. They end up being slightly ridged, so they do use up more string than the others. Can't tell you exactly how much more though. It would depend on the final length of the leash as well. Good luck!
When you are doing the 10-strand braid, it seems to me that the middle strings in the red will never be part of the braid. Unless that's the intention? It gets secured by the surrounding strings? Like you are doing an 8-strand braid that hides the two extras... It's an interesting take on a traditional form. I'm quite intrigued.
Hi Silver Flames, actually, the middle strings also move. If they didn't, they would always be stuck in the same slots while the others moved, which is impossible. You can try it with a different colored string in the middle to see how it works ;)

@@knockpainter did you figure it out? Using the video given, did that make it look like a rainbow?
I've tried a 7 strand & it worked. Now trying a 9 strand but finding 1 is left behind. I tried 4th strand over 3, rotate. Ever tried a 9 strand ?
