    So, there are two camps when it comes to changing oil in your Talaria. I've made videos on both, so here's a link to the other way: ruclips.net/video/JmdkqrQpbUo/видео.htmlsi=Im7jc5-er6Un-8kC

    I like your advice. Just changed mine at 55 miles. Factory only had 60ml in it, I put 90ml back in after raising tire 6 inches.
    Now the problem I see is when your check your dipstick with both tires on the ground, oil will come out.!!

  • @drcableaz
    @drcableaz Год назад +3

    Pro tip, any 6 point fastener should be matched with a 6 point socket. The 12 point or similar universal style are for 12 point fasteners. Then you get a solid bite on the flat surfaces and will take max tq - won't strip. 12 pt are like a diesel or high tq type fastener.
    Has anyone used Amsoil on an ebike yet? Did phenomenal things to Duramax and even an air compressor. Might up the speed and lower temp 🤔

  • @zeroboyrick1717
    @zeroboyrick1717 Год назад +4

    Just to add to the confusion; I've heard 75-90ml of oil is correct. 150ml is too much and will force oil out of the breather. This seems to be info right from Talaria and other reliable sources GritShift. I carefully measured mine, it came from the factory with 82 ml in it. I did have to tilt the bike to get 82ml back in it. Turns out you were close to right in your first video.

    • @SESSIONS73
      @SESSIONS73  Год назад

      Huh, I want to do a video where I ride with 150ml then reduce it to half and see if that 150ml created a noticeable amount of resistance to effect the range. Maybe when it warms up.

    • @ItalianMetalHED

    I'm curious if you will get oil leakage through the air pipe under the seat near to the battery. I got oil leakage over there in hot weather. I'm still not convinced if the gears has to be full of oil. As far as I know if gear reaches some oil it is still enough to lubricate the gears. It doesn't has to sink in oil. Next time you open the oil cap you will have oil spilling out. I don't think they designed it like this.

    • @SESSIONS73
      @SESSIONS73  2 года назад

      True. It's confusing. I am sure the oil in the bottom gear reservoir gets distributed using centrifugal force. I'll just have to remember to prop my bike back up before opening the cap. I don't recall it spilling out like you describe on my initial oil change.

    • @marrzie467
      @marrzie467 2 года назад

      @@SESSIONS73 I just noticed today for the first time after my oil change 2 weeks ago that I too had some oil spilling out the overflow tube. It was 25c today and I did go top speed for about 6 kilometers which is a longer than usual going full throttle for me. It has been hotter in the last 2 weeks but I have been riding with minimal top speed those days.
      I also noticed my top speed is lower by 5-6 kph on a full charge. I get 72-73kph max right now. I checked my oil with the bike level and the oil was leaking out the filler cap as soon as I almost opened it fully. I used 150ml 80w90. I think I am going to try 125ml next time and see how it affects top speed and leakage and go from there.

    • @zeroboyrick1717
      @zeroboyrick1717 Год назад +1

      probably too much gear oil 75-90ml not 150. it blows excess out of the breather. you are absolutely right dipstick would be useless if over filled.

    I usually refer to this video for my oil changes because it’s so thorough. But this time, while adding 150ml, after riding for a bit, some is coming out of the vent tube. Should I consider this an issue?

    • @SESSIONS73
      @SESSIONS73  Год назад

      It can heat and expand. Gritshift sells an add-on that blocks it from happening while protecting it from gunk getting into your vent.
      There are definitely debates on how much oil to add. You’re just getting spill over. You can try less next time and be fine.

    I think you made another mistake🤣 WaAAAaAAy too many people overthinking this. Your gear box is now over full. It holds about 50ml, comes that way from the factory. Probably won't hurt anything except range, and maybe if you tip it it'll be more prone for spilling out. Think of the gear box as a manual transmission or rear diff. They only hold enough oil to "bathe" the gears. Meaning only the lower portion of the gear needs to come in contact with the oil. Otherwise, Its just a waste that causes more friction.

    If the oil is supposed to be between the low and high level on the dipstick but with 120ml it pours out of the case that doesn’t make any sense. I think the correct amount is about 90ml which is what comes in a tube stock with the bike.

      @@SESSIONS73 I even emailed gritshift right after watching your video I went riding with then the other week. Asked them if I've been doing it wrong for a year and if I shoukd be worried or if I need to lift the front of my bike and fill the whole gearbox with 150ml. They even told me I've been doing it the right way fill it on level ground and it should take about 90ml, if you lift the front end and put 150ml in there your quite literally filling the whole gearbox and that's just not necessary. I think them putting 150ml in the directions is the gearbox capacity and wasn't really intended to be the amount of oil actually needed in the gearbox. Overfilling a gearbox with oil like I said can cause the oil to foam because you gears are completely submerged in oil they'll make bubbles and air and foam and it'll cause a chemical reaction that heats up not good. The oil should bath the bottom half of the gears and be moved around when in motion to bath them.
