    The very essence of a short story. Great job.

    Plot twist: he ends up in a physics laboratory that created the picture of that black hole.

    I hope so, these shorts need enough light for people to start paying more attention to alternative or independent movies and shorts.

    This is the sequel Jumper needs. I'd love to see Hayden Christiansen accidentally jumping to Coruscant mid-Jedi Purge.

    It's amazing how much story can be crammed into three minutes. That look of horrified realization is priceless.

    Thanks to Cracked for sending me here and to you guys for using St Peters Square as a location. Hopefully, if they decide to make this a feature length film they'll film in Manchester as a homage. :)

    This is exactly like the movie "Jumper" starring Hayden Christensen. The only difference is that the guy in this short film needs a device to teleport (wherever he sees), whereas Christensen's character has the power to teleport (after seeing where he wants to go). This was an interesting form of plagiarism for a short film.

    I liked that they used Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' in the movie. Nice touch guys.

    teleporting appeared in fiction decades before you were born. teleportation aside, this short and the movie "Jumper"(based on a 1992 book) have nothing in common.

    At the distance from the black hole depicted in the picture, tidal forces are not sufficient to kill a person. It takes at least thirty seconds for a person to die in vacuum. If the device stayed with him without him holding it, he didn't panic the wrong way, and he had a picture of anything on Earth with him, he would have been able to return. But I wouldn't bet on all of those happening.

    • @williambrennan104
      @williambrennan104 10 лет назад

      The fact that the black hole is large actually helps - tidal forces are weaker for big ones. If the device had a small amount of momentum relative to him, he might have been able to catch up with it by launching his shoes in the opposite direction. It all depends exactly where he got dropped.

    OUCH!!! That has got to hurt, being beamed into a black hole. Although it probably wouldn't hurt for more than a few microseconds.
    This is good. Thanks for sharing.

  • @CyberiusT
    @CyberiusT 11 лет назад

    He just thought about going back to his apartment, too.
    The keys to his car were first; a rail(?) ticket second; the picture 3rd. All of those were just to trigger thinking about a place.
    That would have to be the biggest "Oh, Fuuuuuuu..." moment in the history of humankind, though.

    Hmm. That means he got into the black hole instanteniously, without being affected by the tidal force. Therefore, he might even live to see how the singularity looks on the inside. - VALID POINT!!!

    It was Shot at 24 fps and 1/50th. Don't change the shutter speed or you will lose this "motion blur" we're used to in films. Use ND filters or close your aperture if needed. Hope that helps :)

    Loved it. Stellar job. No put intended. Love it even more because it makes me wonder about the following 5 seconds after it ended:
    1) Tech that interfaces with the human brain (or maybe something else) physical contact (even through clothing)....Maybe a "will multiplier"...awesome
    2) The idea that that, even though this kid hasn't been to the places he looked at, he still had a connection to them somehow. So much so, that that tech knew EXACTLY where to place him....suggests that we are all connected to everything else in a way that cannot be explained. NOICE!
    3) Maybe he's not human....was drawn to his own technology....and made the common mistake of his people...sitting on the damn remote!!!!
    Thanks for sparking the ol' noggin.

    I like the short :)
    I knew he was going to mess it up somehow... the fun was trying to predict how...
    When he started spreading all the brochures around I thought it might cause indecision with a bit of him sent to each location.
    .
    The final scene being a "piece" of him maybe an ear to keep it g rated... then you hear the "beep" of the device calling for it's next "user/victim" :)
