As a suggestion I keep my cookie sheets in a 200° oven until ready to pour the brittle. The hot cookie sheet allows the brittle to spread easily keeping it thin. I got that from my Betty Crocker cookbook, the orange cover. I learned to cook using that cookbook. Thank you for sharing your faith.
I've been making peanut brittle at Christmas since 1968 & people love it! I learned about heating the pans from my cashew brittle recipe, but I go to 300° & it's great! I also lay a double thickness of a bath towel on the counter & place the hot cookie sheets on it. That gives the brittle a bit longer to spread thinner before it gets hard. I really want to try my hand at caramels!

I gotta start with prayers first to start my day while waiting on my pain medicine to take affect . Usually I just pray for help when something goes wrong or I need help with something, and of course I was raised to say prayers at bedtime and ask god to help others. Love your channel , Thank You Becky.
At 2:10 you said a teaspoon of baking powder. You better add BAKING SODA! I have made peanut brittle many times and I have found that 300 degrees is not necessary. 290 will work just as well. If you put your cookie sheet into the over set at 200 degrees it will warm the pan so that the peanut brittle will spread much easier.
Becky I like to start my day with prayer and end my day with prayer!!! There are times where I pray during the day as well!!! I like to make cashew brittle instead of peanut brittle but your recipe is exactly the same as mine except I don't add vanilla to my recipe!!! When you're cooking the nuts you can actually smell the Nets differently when it starts to turn!!! Love your Channel!!! Love all your recipes!!! I am now watching all your older vlogs!!! When we use to make Peanut Brittle years ago, we would put either Hershey bars on top of it while it is still hot, and it would melt all over the top. Plus if did not want to use Hershey Chocolate bars, you could use Chocolate chips. And the type of Chocolate you use is up to you, you can use either milk or dark chocolate, we always used milk chocolate.
How would you break it into pieces when chocolate is on it. I'm really interested in this recipe and your opinion so Gaston gently how how would that work cuz I'm interested in making that thank you for helping out and giving us your opinion thank you bye

Needless to say, my daddy stood there and watch me make this peanut brittle. And boy did the whole family enjoy it. Thank you so much for giving us this original recipe that I have been making since 1969 when I was still a little girl. Not so little anymore. I was looking for a good peanut brittle candy recipe and I got that from you but most of all what I appreciate more than anything else is when you talked about how putting God first in our lives and it appears that when we get older we have figured things out that is a true statement but I was raised up as a child in a religious family so I have known about the goodness of the Lord from a child and now that I am a senior it just even greater getting to know the Lord so I appreciate you adding that in with your recipe your discussion of what God wants and requires of us thank you so much for that

Thank You ❤ My grandma used to make this for us kids. Shes gone now and my aunt makes it but i hate having to wait all year to have homemade brittle, and your recipe looks to be about the same as hers. So I tried it and made some. Appreciate it very much 😊
Just made it. It worked really well for me. It was little thick in the middle of my pan after dropping it out. Plus, I double batched it. Thank you for your video and God bless!😊
I love your videos Becky, I'm 51 now but started making Peanut Brittle a few times a year since I was 10-12 yrs old pretty much just like you did until a lady in our church (in our church cookbook) shared a microwave recipe. I was skeptical but tried it...LOL, it works so much easier and the results are the same so for the last 15 yrs or so that's how I do it. You just cook it about 4 minutes and stir, then 4 more minutes and stir. When it's close to done add the butter & vanilla, cook one more minute ish, then add the baking soda and pour it out. Love your Bible lessons as Well, praying for you alot, so sorry about you losing your husband. God Bless you all. Larry Robinson (Graham Tx.)
Oh my goodness! I have been making sweets for Christmas and my sweet husband of 50 years can’t eat chocolate. The rest of us love chocolate. I wanted to make him something special. He loves peanuts! It was really good seeing how you make Peanut Brittle. I haven't had it in years and like it. And I enjoyed your explanation of putting God first, is so true. As a Christian, I am blessed by the Lord using you, scriptures of encouragement. Also I am new to cooking with Cast Iron. I just want to tell you that I enjoy your channel and we seem to have a lot in common. I’m also a Christian grandma who is still learning to put God first. I think if we lived close we would be good friends. Thank you for sharing your recipes. I have southern roots and all of your recipes are very familiar to me. One of the conversations we had around the Thanksgiving table this year is that one of the daughters-in-law needed to come visit and learn how to make my grandmother’s cornbread dressing as I’m the last in my family that knows how to make it since my mom passed away last year. Sad and beautiful at the same time. God bless you and your channel. ♥️🙏🏻
My late father in law was famous for pnut brittle, my daughter is carrying it on, I was always the tester and it was always my favorite when something went wrong and I’d say oh it different, different flavor or texture and he’d say ya I messed up or I didn’t have such n such or I cooked it too long/not long enough something watching my daughter make it I now know how intricate it is, I’ve never tried it so I appreciate the instructions
When I was younger there was a lady at church who said whenever she started a new project she prays over it that God would bless her work. I tried it and she was right it works. Try it.
I enjoyed your peanut brittle video very much. My wife helped me and my first batch was pretty good. After cooling it popped right out of the cookie sheet. I used pecan pieces instead of running to the store for peanuts. Next batch I'll get peanuts. I appreciate your comments about putting the Lord first. One of my favorite verses is Matthew 6:33.
I made this for Christmas. I fallowed the recipe exactly, but had to use dry roasted peanuts and Spanish peanuts combined. It turned out FANTASTIC! My husband really loves it. He wants me to make more. I just finished the last 4 pieces. The snap and light crisp is great. My daughter says it's way better than store bought which is hard to bite into. This is a real hit and a keeper. I'll be making this many times more. Thank you and Merry Christmas! May you and yours be blessed abundantly. J.M.J. Those were some really good tips. I live by the ocean,so the humidity tip about not doing it on a day it rains is awesome. And you cracked me up when you said that it takes awhile getting out of bed in the morning anyway when we're older so we may as well be praying. Hilarious and so true!
Tried this recipe today and it was almost perfect. I purchased a new candy thermometer to use, but it never got to the 300 degree mark. Thankfully, your comments about the 'threads' and color helped me. I figured 100 years ago, homemakers may not have had thermometers, so I forged ahead with success. I love your channel.
I make mine in the microwave. Fast & easy. Have the local old time recipe. My grandma was the best cook. Live in the Peanut capital of the world slogan. Dad was a Peanut farmer so we had plenty raw peanuts.
My granddaddy did not cook. He had an amazing cook for a wife. She was known through out the county for her baking and cooking. But he made peanut brittle. Delicious!! You brought back a nice memory for me. They never grew peanuts but some neighbors did. He would be given a big batch of peanuts and made the candy for us when we visited the country. I like it but have not ever tried to make it. I also love pralines. Will check to see if you have video on them.
Thank you for this recipe and all the tips!!! This is my second year making this and it is so simple and the best tasting recipe. Last year I remember I was puzzled about how to clean the pot and spatula since it felt like glue on it, luckily I remembered how I did it last year boiled water in the same pot and then put it into more hot water in the sink. Within minutes the sugar glue released…thought maybe could use that tip 😂 I’m ready to make more!!! ❤❤❤

The Bible says that prayers from the saints are a pleasing fragrance of incense to God🙏 Thank you, Becky.
Amen 🙏
Amen. In the mornings, I wake up hurting so bad that I can’t walk. I’m going to have to pray hard before I get up in the mornings. Thank you Becky. I needed to hear this. I’m not Bible smart at all.
@@stalinaevans629 God knows your heart. Pray what you feel, he already knows❤️. Feel better

Prayers from ordinary people are equally valued, God does not play favourites, we are all his children.
I came across a few of your videos lately. I have been struggling with my relationship with God. Thankyou for sharing his word as you teach us your secrets to cooking. I feel that the lord has sent me your way. Now to make that brittle♥️🙏♥️🙏
My neighbor gave me a 5 lb bag of fresh peanuts from her brothers farm. I don't eat much peanuts & she mentioned peanut brittle, I always bought store bought, but not after seeing your recipe. Super easy, super delicious!! Thank you!
I love the fact that you are making all of the candies from back in the day.
I gotta start with prayers first to start my day while waiting on my pain medicine to take affect . Usually I just pray for help when something goes wrong or I need help with something, and of course I was raised to say prayers at bedtime and ask god to help others. Love your channel , Thank You Becky.
I'm going to get up earlier and pray because of what you said. thank you.
May Christ richly bless you and yours, dear sister, and keep y'all in the hollow of His hands. Love your videos!
What beautiful words, "in the hollow of His hands".
Wow,people stop giving thumbs down.just stop watching the video instead of being rude
God Bless You and Your Family!!!
Thank you for reminding us that Jesus is the reason for the season. :)
Thank you Becky, I've use this recipe for Christmas candy and it was a huge hit. I used almonds instead of peanuts, it's what I had at the time.
Thank you for taking the time to talk about our Heavenly Father! I really needed to hear that today! ❤️
That would be a yummy version, too. Have some both ways.
How would you break it into pieces when chocolate is on it. I'm really interested in this recipe and your opinion so Gaston gently how how would that work cuz I'm interested in making that thank you for helping out and giving us your opinion thank you bye
@@gloriaheston3920 It would break up the same way as English Toffee would. English Toffee is a similar recipe but uses brown sugar, not white.
@@rhondaalbrecht
Would you use the same measurement as the peanut brittle but use brown sugar instead of the white or can you please share the toffee recipe? Thank you
Absolutely delightful instruction, and blessed Christian exhortation with it!! Most natural, genuine, loving and considerate. This sister is a national treasure and a sure emblem of the best of American culture. Thank God for her.
Also, I pray you ALWAYS give us a message from your heart while you're cooking. Being basically home bound because I have seizures and can't drive myself to church, sometimes you sharing God's word is the only Christian interaction I may have that day or even week!
I understand 🙏.
I have the same problem no way to get out not even to church I live in a rural area and my kids have all moved away but I thank God everyday for all his blessings I do get out 2x a month for shopping so I am blessed
Guys, look up Big Family Homstead Devotionals on RUclips. Brad does a good job giving Devotionals every week day.
To chrissyzcreationz and Gail Denny,
I am sorry for my delayed reply. I hope you are both able to get what you need during this crisis. Thank you both for watching and being a part of the Hillbilly Kitchen. You are in my prayers. God Bless You Both!
@@TheHillbillyKitchen can you use other healthy sugar substitute like liquid type, hopefully it will work out ok 🙏🏼thanks
Mmmmmm-mmmmmm-mmmm!!! Can't wait to try this recipe! And thank you for the Christ-like message!
Woman of God you have so blessed me with your Godly wisdom. Thank you sooooo much!!!
My husband told me he wanted some peanut brittle for Christmas. But, I have no idea how to make it. So I purposefully looked up your channel because I figured you would know how to make it. And you DO!! I’m going to find some raw peanuts and try your recipe. Thank you for your tips and thank you for sharing your faith. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 ✝️
Thank you for spreading the word of God. This is one reason why I love your cooking show, plus all the wonderful recipes.
One day I discovered how to make peanut brittle From recipe cookbook. And I made it every single night. And it’s the same way you make it. Needless to say, my daddy stood there and watch me make this peanut brittle. And boy did the whole family enjoy it. Thank you so much for giving us this original recipe that I have been making since 1969 when I was still a little girl. Not so little anymore. I’m now 70 and still love making this recipe, thank you so much❤
I'm trying new recipes this year for Christmas. Thank you for detailed description!!
I was blessed & reminded by your lil chat about ALWAYS PUTTING GOD FIRST! God said "In all your ways ACKNOWLEDGE Him"! So TRUE! Our lives have much more meaning when we stop to praise Him!
May God continue to bless you!❤
Give us today our daily bread. Do all to the glory of God. GOD FIRST.
Your videos are excellent. Teaches real country cooking. ( I'm a rural Kentucky boy).
I really love her accent! it's so cute and charming.,
Thank you. Because of you sharing your lesson in this video, I said the Lord’s Prayer in bed before I got up. It makes so much sense. God bless you. Merry Christmas.
I had decided grocery store brittle was too expensive and I could do it myself. Found your recipe and made a batch and it was as good or better than any I've ever had. Your tips made it so easy that I'll be making this anytime I want peanut brittle. Never again will I buy store bought!
Thank you for sharing this amazing and easy to follow recipe! I made several batches for Christmas and is now a family favorite! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love your outlook on PUTTING GOD FIRST! THANK YOU for reminding me of that. Yes I pray for over food , I pray to get me to work and back home safely, I don't listen to the radio in my car because that's my time alone with The Almighty. But Its nice to remember to put God first every day. ❤
ty for all you share with us. My Grandma was a great cook. When she was with us i just ate and was happy I'm now 48 years old and wish I would have learned from her. TY for sharing with us you remind me of her. : )
Grew up in church and went to the school. Ladies of the church would make brittle on some days so we could go selling on Saturday 😃 Oh the memories walking up and down Mission blvd in Hayward CA. But we could snack on the warm pieces chipped off before packaging them up. 😋 yum. I’m going to attempt to make some with my granddaughter’s 🥰✝️🧎🏻♀️💚 Thank you and your love for Jesus show’s through your videos 🥹❤️
I’m so glad I found your videos. I just love cooking but cleaned carpets today. I’m going to make my candies for Christmas tomorrow and in the next few days. Im probably your age and your Sunday School lesson is true. Always say good morning Lord not oh Lord it’s morning. 🙏
Used your recipe today to make brittle and it turned out awesome!!!! Last time I attempted to make some it turned out grey and didn’t get hard. Then I remembered that my grandmother always used a wooden spoon. I have gotten a few of your recipes to try!!! Love all your videos. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas 🎄
This is the best recipe I've gotten to work. Thank you. God is good.
Thank you so much for showing how to make peanut brittle. Yes. GOD should come first. I have learned this as I got older. Again start my day with saying a prayer. Have a super week.
I started making peanut brittle a few months ago. Make it the same way except I add the butter at the end with the baking soda and vanilla. I appreciate you sharing your faith too. God Rulz!☝🏻
I was looking for a good peanut brittle candy recipe and I got that from you but most of all what I appreciate more than anything else is when you talked about how putting God first in our lives and it appears that when we get older we have figured things out that is a true statement but I was raised up as a child in a religious family so I have known about the goodness of the Lord from a child and now that I am a senior it just even greater getting to know the Lord so I appreciate you adding that in with your recipe your discussion of what God wants and requires of us thank you so much for that
Miss Becky, I so appreciate your love for God that makes watching your channel such a blessing. I love this peanut brittle recipe. It is so calming to make this along with your video. Everyone loves the candy! Are you still adding new videos?
My dad, mom,and whole family loved peanut brittle. Thank you for the recipe. I love your verses from the bible. Love our lord 🙏
Praise God!
I love your Bible verses. And yes, always put God first in all things. I am almost 70 years old and never tire of hearing about the Lord. I serve Him daily. From the time I wake until I close my eyes at night. I love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind, strength, being and all within me. I have come too far in my journey to turn back now.
Have a very blessed evening, love you all, but most importantly, Jesus loves you too.
Thank You ❤
My grandma used to make this for us kids. Shes gone now and my aunt makes it but i hate having to wait all year to have homemade brittle, and your recipe looks to be about the same as hers. So I tried it and made some. Appreciate it very much 😊
Thank you for watching! God bless you!
I just made some, and it turned out great! My husband loves it! Thank you for your videos. I love the faith messages you give us also. God bless you and have a blest Christmas.
It was really good seeing how you make Peanut Brittle. I haven't had it in years and like it. And I enjoyed your explanation of putting God first, is so true. As a Christian, I am blessed by the Lord using you, scriptures of encouragement. Also I am new to cooking with Cast Iron. Reminds me of my childhood in the south, now as a senior here in NYC, I enjoy cooking with my Cast Iron pans. May the Lord, Jesus Christ continue to bless you and your family.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. MY FIRST TIME ,AND MY HUSBAND LIKED IT !!! JUST LIKE HIS MOMMA MADE. Thank you for your time and witnessing. God Bless
Thank you. I just got it. Put God 1st. Look me long enough. Bless you for being a part of my Christian family. Love your recipes. You're so relaxing to listen to.
Looking forward to giving this peanut brittle a try, looks delicious.
And yes, we must put God first. God Bless you sister!
Made this today and the brittle was fantastic .
I used pecans ,almonds ,peanuts ,cashews ,pistachios ,
It was fabulous. Thank you for your videos .
Thanks for the most informative peanut brittle recipe. Most other ones don’t explain a lot of the details that you cover.
When I was younger there was a lady at church who said whenever she started a new project she prays over it that God would bless her work. I tried it and she was right it works. Try it.
She certainly was. I pray over projects too and they turn out much better than if I forget. Thank you! God bless you!
Thank you for your message of faith! I needed to hear that at this moment and I’ll definitely be trying to make peanut brittle this week! ❤
Could listen to you all day!! Great video, please keep it going. God Bless
J.M.J. (Jesus, Mary and Joseph) The perfect Family to guide us along our way.
❤ Brought back memories of my mom making peanut brittle when I was a child. She did not have a candy thermometer but she did check to see if the mixture would string and for change of color.
I haven't made peanut brittle in yrs.. It is easy but yet touchy..organization ahead of time is Key like you said, Becky..I used to make mine in one of my iron skillets. YUM!!
Amazingly enough, I came here to know about peanut brittle, but what I really learnt was that God had lead me to you, which had shown me the much needed sense in my life. I had related to everything that you had said about life and God. You are an amazing witness for him. Never stop what you do for you can certainly show the best of both worlds.God bless, and thank you for such a great recipe. 💕
Thank you soo much your detail explanation helped so much I would have stopped at 300 degrees had you not emphasized amber color !!! It’s delish!
At first, I wasn't going to watch this vid because I thought it was too long. But the longer I watched the more I appreciated the insights into making good peanut brittle. Your instructions were simple and very easy to follow. I'd searched for a recipe to help me make it for the first time and I found it here! Thanks for sharing with those of us who don't know what they're doing! BTW, since 1976 I have kept God first! Yippee! Hallelujah!
I love some perfect, light and crispy, peanut brittle, but it is hard to find. That is how I came to your channel. When you took the time to speak of God, particularly this day in time, I knew I was in a good place and I subbed.
Thank you for subscribing. Welcome to The Hillbilly Kitchen and God bless you!
Thank you for the delicious recipe. I can't wait to try it. It looks so good, and easy. May God Continue to Bless you and you're family.
So thankful for this video. Before this video, I attempted to make peanut brittle. I did not put baking soda or corn syrup, so of course it didn't turn out right.
UPDATE: My batch turned out GREAT. I'll be making these as Christmas gifts this year. Thanks again.
Thank you! I have had more fun watching your videos the last 2 days. You are doing a labor of love because making these videos and uploading them is not the easiest of tasks.
May God Bless you.🙏🏾 Your faith in God our Father is spiritually contagious. You have Blessed my life❤️
Amen, love your devotionals....candy looks good.
🔺 Baking SODA 🔺 In her ingredients she first says she’s using... she accidentally said “powder”.... BUT IT IS SODA! AWESOME RECIPE! AWESOME BRITTLE
Thank you so much for clearing that up for me
I actually made it and used baking power since that was what heard lol I went and watched some other recipes and heard Baki soda came back here and listened and read I was like whoops but honestly it has turned out great 4 times with the baking powder ha ha
The threads you talk about.....Mom always called it Angel hair. Cook it down until it makes the Angel hair.
Love your shows.
I have tried...never turned out right...I'm looking forward to your way.......I'm 60ish.... I did learn....living in older homes....turn my house heat up..2hr beforehand....for my fudge...peanut butter balls...candycane brittle!
Thankful for y'all....yes ma'am...
Pray first!!!!
Thank you......hubby 42yrs....we have such exact values!!
Thankful that I found you. Happy Thanksgiving to Y'all 👏👏👍🙏👩🦳🦃🥧
The fresh peanuts...and baking soda!!!!....thankyou....
Tried this brittle Christmas 2020, it came out great the first time. I’ve never made any kind of candy before and just followed your directions.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
Within minutes the sugar glue released…thought maybe could use that tip 😂
I’m ready to make more!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you Becky for this recipe. I have never made peanut brittle myself, but as you pointed out there are good peanut brittles and there are not so good peanut brittles. God bless you for the time you spend educating the rest of us, and thank you for your evangelism of God's word. Big hugs to you! xxxxx
My mom used to make it when I was a girl and when she pulled it off the stove, she would actually butter her hands pull the brittle thin. She worked very quickly, It was so light and crispy. I have never had any brittle as good as hers! Thanks for sharing all your tips. I may have to try this.
Thank you not only for the great recipe but for the word of God.
