Ep 70: Cop of the Year Turned Criminal

- The boys are joined by Ema (@evideos26 on TikTok), a nurse who's father was a stud cop. He was the "cops" cop....Unfortunately, her father fell victim to the dark side of life after being exposed and vulnerable to it his whole career, turning to drugs to fix his issues. This lead to a series of criminal charges. This is a message to all military and first responders: if you are going to expose yourself to the darkest parts of humanity, don't let it consume you.

I came across your podcast after a friend recommended. I was a cop for 11 years, 9 of which I spent in narcotics and 10 on swat. On 9-1-17 I was given an ultimatum after a case I worked earlier in 2017. This was done to save the reputation of the department I worked for. The years after were the hardest of my life and I’d love to share it with you guys.
Brent, please make the call to the Sherrif of Baghdad. He's back in Judo eating BBQ being a Rockstar. Get this unit legend on the show.
I text him just the other day, we’ll see if our schedules align!
@brenttucker6246 Thanks for responding. You're a class act, man! Wish you all the best. Thanks for your service!
I Would like to 2nd the SOB request....
All in favor say ya
John Mcphee, Pat Mac, and Brent Tucker are the best interviews. Down to earth, like you're at a family BBQ listening to your uncle telling great stories you don't want to stop listening to so you keep giving him beers until your carrying him into the living room couch to sleep it off while grandma is shaking her head.
26:32 I was that guy, I was told " You do not have the right to say when and when you don't do your Duties". That suck it up and drive on shit is why we have 22 a day! I am Ex-- Military, I am medically retired, I knew what I was getting into when I signed up for both yet I was not prepared and did not have the mental tools to deal with what I saw and experienced. Imagine being the best at what you do then when someone tells you you are "weak" for having "feelings".......I walked away two days after receiving one of the highest Awards you can receive in Law Enforcement. I have a Moral Compass and that shit points true north my friends.
Agreed.
You guys are still crushing it. I sincerely wish the best for that woman’s father.
I normally just listen, but this episode is a “must watch”! 😉
She looks and actually sounds like Pamela Anderson circa 2002.
Smokin and down to earth. Great episode
Lawd have mercy fellas, Ms Emma couldnt be more gorgeous
Having known this person since he was a teenager, I can tell you his job absolutely destroyed him.😔
The guys should have a show with civil rights lawyer. I think a talk on constitution vs law enforcement would be cool.
Great show, gentlemen. Keep up the great work!
Love the new studio boys, well done!!!!! It looks awesome, clean and comfortable. Really looking fwd to what you've got in the stack coming up. Specifically Lavigne/Leshikar. Keep pushing!!! Hope you and your families are all well🙏🤘👊🇺🇲
Hey guys. Love the podcast and the topics yall talk about are great. I ordered a shirt and it's bad ass. I joined the navy at 35 as a Airframer and separated at 47. Things are changing and I'm glad you guys talk about.
This pod is gonna blow up and it's awesome. 🤟
Not only how they can fall but how they can get screwed over. His department jumped out from under him, ostracized him and then the system decided to just screw him! I can relate to this more than you realize
Love this podcast.
I know a Airforce cop that never left the wire that has 100% VA for ptsd. He told me a story that he heard a firefight when he was on a base and how it gave him PTSD…. Yup bullshit, its the guys who never actually did shit claiming ptsd. Meanwhile I had just finished my 17th deployment as a OGA contractor and Infantry deployments beforehand and was disgusted. Never felt anything about using my weapon in combat, its what I signed up for. Seeing other Americans bleeding to death? Thats a whole other demon I had to deal with.
Bro, my best friend got rated 20% for his shoulders and concussions from getting blown up in 2 tours in IRAQ with blue spaders during worst times to be there.
I know an AF aviation mechanic with 100% disability PTSD via “loud engine sounds!” This was in Japan!!!!!
All the shitbag pogs collect, you guys suffer. Both my grandpas, my father were all drafted into infantry divisions of army, all forever altered by combat and never took a crumb. My dad was airborne in vietnamn, has never mentioned a word about it to me but when he is shirtless it looks like wolverine attacked him.
One of my grandpas was a pow under Nazis for a year, never complained a bit despite torture and being deaf in one ear for reat of his life. Its the shitbags that are the loudest.
Thank you for being a stud for us and also for not standing quietly. Appreciate ur service in all of above!
Shoutout to all my fellow nurses 💪🏽
No truer statement over ptsd, well said
Retired Law Enforcement Professional here with a heads up. While a cop, I was awarded the Meritorious Service medal for Valor. Look into Street Cop Training and their Legal Issues, it may be used against you in Court. The training they provide is like anything some is good and some is SUS AF.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who knows about these guys.
Love the pod cast guy's 👌

1:00:55 - The term you’re looking for is “the fallacy of monocausality.” Love the show, btw, gents. Keep up the good work.
Pat Tillman episode??
Need that
He’s fun guy.
Anyone going to these 2 for “truth” needs to do some digging on those who are rebutting the claims of a bitter SEAL. Eric Deming is disabled and not physically “, stopping at nothing to dismantle SEALs he thinks wronged him. Just look at the views before and after they exploited this poor disabled and bitter SEAL, that says a lot. Do your research and listen to credible rebuttals to this garbage.
Hi my husband watches y’all every week with every new episode. His a veteran himself and loves y’all’s podcast
Love to hear that! You tell him we said thank you for the support but WAY more importantly thank you for your service!
This is a very interesting conversation barely touching the actual issue of what is kept secret from the general public if not mass consciousness.
Do more LAPD stuff.
Big events, periods 80’s, 90’s etc.
Hey, medical provider here. She should try to have her dad evaluated for Wilson’s Disease. It has psychiatric components similar to what she describes. Could explain a lot for him and help with closure. Best wishes.
Crocker’s Rules is a conversational tool that facilitates more direct communication by allowing individuals to signal that they are open to feedback, even if it may be uncomfortable or critical. By declaring oneself as operating under Crocker’s Rules, one accepts full responsibility for their own emotions and thoughts, and allows others to provide feedback without worrying about hurting their feelings.
Key Principles:Optimize for information: When operating under Crocker’s Rules, individuals prioritize conveying information over being nice or polite.
No social niceties: Feedback is given without sugarcoating or apologizing for its directness.
Full responsibility: The individual accepting Crocker’s Rules takes full responsibility for their emotions and thoughts, and is not offended by honest feedback.
No reciprocity: Declaring oneself as operating under Crocker’s Rules does not imply that others must reciprocate or follow the same rules.
Love this show
33:00 That's pretty deep and a really good point
I'd argue, To be able to truly be that rock for your family, you need to be able to be vulnerable elsewhere, whether it's therapy or a brotherhood.
I also think it's important to express some level of vulnerability with sons and daughters as an example so they see it's ok as well.
But 100% when the going gets tough and the shit gets real its our job to be the rock and do whatever is necessary no matter how hard.
I’m a paranoid schizophrenic I was told I have PTSD but I don’t believe in it at all only starting my medication yesterday because I hate feeling like a zombie on my schizophrenic medication I am who I am I’ve never hurt anyone and I never will love and peace from the thus pagan to use all. Best podcast on RUclips by far
The amount of qualified immunity comments on this video is hilarious. Either those people didnt listen to the podcast, or just didnt understand it. Removing qualified immunity wouldn't have changed the out come of this mans situation. This is a man who had underlying mental health issues, which went unnoticed combined with a job that takes a huge mental toll on people. Which unfortunately led to him making some poor choices, which he should be held accountable for. The mental health issues also may not have been caught without the multiple incidents. The fact is most Military and First responders know exactly how to answer those questions, so that they can get back to the job.
Question: Doesn’t this anxiety & upbringing come up when they are screening for selection for a police officer. From what I understand from talking to people that have applied and not made it the psychology exam was no joke. I wonder how they through this.
The institutional hypocrisy will eat you alive,
Good video.
Don Shipley responded to you guys on his extreme seal experience website. Love to hear how you feel! Jocko also responded on his podcast.

He flat responds to the accusations... especially the letter from the " marine" who claimed 36 marine deaths. It is public record that only 18 marines died there and it was before Bruiser moved in.... again more holes in Demmings accusations that cannot be backed up
Shit… they’ve been reviewing LAPD’s BWC for YEARS and writing up officers for not wearing their seatbelts…
9:58 Brent’s beard with a touch of Tyler’s lisp.
HOOAH!! Keep it up guys👍💯🇱🇷👊
Damn it! Every time I think “ok I’m done watching” you flip the script on me. Keep me on my toes.
And to think I only watched on accident thinking this was anti hero skateboards
Haha glad you stumbled on us and keep watching, really appreciate the support!
Here’s to getting to the top 100…
I remember when Deborah Clayton got killed at the Walmart near Pine Hills and then people were mad when the dude that shot her and another cop was beat the hell up when they captured him. The fact that criminals seem to get better treatment than the cops is ridiculous.
They beat him till he lost an eye.
Not saying it wasn’t deserved but was it legal? 🤷🏽
59:00 yall are far better information than any news channel
I'd really be interested to hear about the 6 years of counseling. Did it have no effect or a negative effect?
1:02:00 having a higher power is so important. Doesn't have to follow anyone else's concept of god
1:04:00 you're an amazing daughter. God bless you
Brent any way you could pull a multi past generation of Delta on? For example Mike Vinning Chris Vansant and Kyle Morgan together to take about Delta stuff? I think we'd all love a perspective on how things have changed.
thats a great idea!
And sherk.....you guys were in the same squadron, right ?
@@nickjohnson710he was in my squadron but he left before I got there.
I thought it was common knowledge that “cop of the year” is usually linked to being fired or arrested soon after. Cursed accomplishment.

Multiple narcan hits, too much narcan can kill you, you’re suppose to space out the hits, if you rapidly narcan a spray someone the amount of narcan dosage will hit them all out once that can be life threatening. Also I have never heard of a narcan drip being in the medical field.
11:00 took a lesson from Georgia! It's becoming a meme
PTSD is real but you can get past it if you want to. Many people don't get past it because they feel like they deserve to be miserable. And to be perfectly blunt, there are others who like to use it as an excuse to be a fuck up.
We need a podcast on Kirk Von Ackermann. There’s something very wrong with that incident.
Ptsd is a huge issue in law enforcement and sadly some of the symptoms lead to problems for which there is little forgiveness in this profession.
When I was a rookie we had a guy fired for excessive force, and I couldn’t understand when I heard guys who knew him saying he was a good cop. To me he was a bad cop. Then down the road I developed ptsd and wound up getting in trouble when I snapped and cussed out someone really bad on duty. That kind of behavior is completely out of the ordinary for me, in fact they played one of my videos dealing with a difficult person for the whole agency’s deescalation training. That blowup was entirely ptsd driven. Luckily because I snapped and committed discourtesy instead of excessive force I was sent to get help and that probably saved my career and marriage. It entirely changed my view of that guy who was fired, he was probably battling ptsd and if he had been treated sooner he likely would never have done what he did. It made me wonder how many cops have been fired, prosecuted, lives ruined, who were good cops with untreated ptsd.
"That Green Beret turned Delta Force Guy.....don't be impressed by that." Fat Boi Don Shipley is big mad at this podcast. Keep them coming!!!
😂 I actually watched that snippet, someone posted the link in the comments. I actually asked to follow him on IG because we really have the same cause and if we got a chance to speak we’d see eye to eye on a lot of things… I HATE people think we are anti SEAL, couldn’t be any further from the truth and our listeners know that because we’ve said it over and over. But they only know us from 60 second short videos and have no idea.
Thats a silly thing to say. Thats like saying his son that went from white side SEAL to development group - dont be impressed by that. I mean you can battle it out but accomplishments are accomplishments and brent, don and don 3, rob oneill etc are all solid guys that served and did great things.
@@brenttucker6246 We all wore the same flag on our shoulders and have far more in common with each other than differences.
Brent: when u say those 20k 3 day courses are worthless are also including something like Senior Chief Shipleys course Extreme SEAL Experience. It’s a 10 day course to prep guys for bubs. I have always heard great things about his course. And it’s ran completely by SEALs???
Given everything we know about seals. Y'all still don't get it. You're still out here paying these flags bc of who they were. Anyone that can look someone in the face and say "it'll be 18,000 for 3 days" should tell you all you need to know.
@@chriscarroll641Don Shipley’s course costs $1,800. Much more reasonable price for a longer course. And if I’m not mistaken it’s more geared towards youth rather than burnt out 30 something entrepreneurs
@@chriscarroll641 I completely agree with what you’re saying, I’m not saying go to someone’s course because of a label but because of their experience, knowledge, and ability. I personally wouldn’t pay snd go to any of them, but I understand why people do.

How did he pass a psychological test when he had threatened suicide
How did John Brennan become head of CIA after voting for communists in past was known??? Should never receive clearance of any level.
Isnt Street Cop Training the incredibly sketchy police training conference that openly advocates for violating the rights of citizens?
Ha no, I was at last years seminar as a vendor and got to see all the classes and they were very informative classes about finding hidden compartments, ways to approach vehicles, resiliency etc. they got in trouble for leaking videos of brash “team room” language but nothing had to do with violating peoples rights just crude talk

I’m sorry. PTSD comes from being burnt out. It comes from the culture where you wasn’t allowed to say “ hey buddy that call really bugged me” it was always put on you big boy pants and get back to work. No breaks to debrief between calls. It’s calls after calls after calls. I’m sorry after years of doing that?? If you think that’s not going to bug the most well rounded person. If it don’t? Go get you head checked cause you on the edge of being a psychopath. That’s a fact. And yes. I was in the fire/ems service for 22years. And one day. One really bad call. I snapped. And when I snapped it was like every bad call in them
22 years came crashing down at one time.

1:09:50 there's a massive difference between whatever your idea of a psychologist and a professionally trained highly competent psychologist. It's a real science and can help tremendously with ptsd, anxiety etc if you're willing to put in the work.
I’m not saying they have no place, I had to see one during my treatment for TBI injuries as a wholistic approach, so I have experienced it but like everything on here that’s my opinion and my experience.l and I give the why behind it. If it works for someone else then great! But there are other solutions out there that have worked for many people. That’s all. Really appreciate you listening, the disagreements and debates that follow I think are a good thing.
@@brenttucker6246 Thanks for responding Brent! Absolutely, there are many different types of trauma and equally many ways of healing from them.

To require that much narcan there’s no way in hell that he was an opioid addict. He HAD to be opioid naive and do a significant amount of fentanyl to require 7 doses of narcan and a naloxone drip.

That Jessica Simpson voice made it too difficult to watch it all.
See what you guys were doing, nice try fellas... 😅 👀
No offense, but this guy should've never been allowed to continue being a cop. Why didn't they pull him off the line years before all this. Its like a boxer getting knocked out in the first round every fight. Like at some point, no matter how much you like being a cop, you should've been put out to do something else. Sorry you couldn't ride it out to your pension, but a change of career is your only option here.
The fact that there's so many suicides among cops and vets, including her father, is proof that this "stoic no emotion" ideal for men is not tenable. This is an amazing episode, thank you Ema for coming on and sharing the story.

Great episode fellas! The similarities between me and her dad are just weird. I have a daughter named Emma who’s also blonde, I was a conductor and engineer for 16 years, I started at 20 years old, I used to drink heavily, I don’t like weed, I loved adderall and I loaded a pistol to end it one time.

So you talk about double standards and consistency. So take the law enforcement side out of the equation and let's say he is a vet and has been taking adhd medicine for night shifts which is illigal and steroids also illigal and then has an overdose on Fentany and because of these things he ends up assaulting a family member and then sends threats to some judge would yall be making a podcast about him because he had an outstanding military record?? Would you expect the police who arrested him to be nice and treat him with respect or would he just be labeled a criminal or bad guy as you say. I think it's tragic what happened to the guy but as you say we must be consistent so if we have empathy for this guy we need to have empathy for all who experience these things including down to the guy who grew up in an area where he sees people get shot daily and drugs are rampant. If so there are thousands who needs to to have attention brought to thier situation. Thank you gentlemen for what you do. I'm a vet and worked in the MWD program as a dog handler or in the civilian world a K9 officer. God bless
Thanks for the question and I’ll answer it. We didn’t take on this story to get him out of trouble or take his side on anything ….. it was more of an awareness episode of what this job can do to people…. And be aware of the bad parts of the job no one wants to talk about but we will, Steriods, infidelity, bad decisions etc. and what the signs are with hopes people will understand GREAT guys can go down the wrong road so don’t ignore the signs. As far as police handling police differently… depending on the crime I do think they should give some professional courtesy to their own. One of the guys that had to arrest him worked out with him! Let’s not act like we don’t know him, never met him and that he’s a career criminal when the fact is he spent a decade giving everything he had to the job. Again that depends on the charge. Anyway, hope this helps. Thanks for the comment and even more, thanks for your service!
@@brenttucker6246 outstanding answer I completely understand now. It seemed like at first yall were a little nicer on him then what I was expecting but on the other hand the military or law enforcement is definitely rough on just about every aspect of a person's life as you know well. I do believe it is all on how we mentally prepare ourselves. I know guys that have seen very little in combat and act like they can't function and claim ptsd and then I have good friends who have been in some of the thickest crap we know of and you would never even know they served and say they are great no issues. I have lived by the six P's proper, preparation, prevents, piss, poor performance but most important is a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. The world may fail a person but Jesus won't ever let you down. Love the podcast brother keep up the good fight. God bless
The problem with the discussion and stance around PTSD in this podcast is that what you talk about is very dismissive and a subjective bar you determine as the threshold. I think people will accept that obvious occurrences in a given career field is something people should accept but what about what they aren’t trained, prepared for or expecting. By your attitude you would effectively dismiss mental health in your own military background. Imagine if flipped around someone said well when you join the military you or your friend might get shot, set on fire or blown up. You’ve not got PTSD, you failed to research the job. Come on… what would you say to all your peers. All the cops and veterans, emergency medical people that go on to kill themselves.
Most of this will be solved when qualified immunity is finally removed.
Cringe
Also cops do not give "bad guys" more Lee way than their own
