    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this video! My ice maker kept making a weird clicking noise and it wouldn't stop. I could tell where it was coming from but I couldn't figure out how to get the dang thing out of the fridge. With your awesome video and easy to follow steps, I was able to remove it and find the issue. (Ice had built up where it shouldn't which was causing the plastic gears to slip. Luckily I got it out because the motor kept running and was getting rather hot.) I got it fixed, reinstalled, and now we are back in business. I really appreciate you posting this! You saved me a lot of time and frustration. Kudos to you!

    This video is terrific. Remember to turn off water to refrigerator and power to refrigerator. Also, remember to press the cycle button after turning the power on and water, as well as before replacing the ice bin. This video saved me almost $200.00 in labor and up charge on the ice maker itself. Well done.

    My previous 2 year old refrigerator was fried during a lightening storm. A car accident delayed my kitchen update so the plumber connected the water line to the refrigerator for the first time & no matter what Samsung suggested, the refrigerator would not make ice. Naturally it was past the warrantee date and estimate for the repair with parts from Samsung was $465.00. After reviewing this video I purchased the needed part on-line for $137.50 and installed it myself in less than 10 minutes. The instructions were great !! Thank you.

      Lol...just replaced mine two days ago (after eight years as well). I was a little disheartened after the replacement as it seemed nothing was happening, no usual ice making noises. I went to bed frustrated and planning my next move, woke up to an ice bin full of ice. Not sure what other timing functions are going on, but seems to be okay now.

    Thanks for posting this! I made the mistake of calling a tech service. The first guy supposedly fixed a frozen fan in the freezer box. The 2nd guy said it was leaking as it was freezing itself to the inside of the box. He supposedly ordered the new icemaker. That was two weeks ago. I decided to fix it myself and I'm GLAD I did. I can't complain though, mine lasted 10 years almost to the day. I NEVER had one last near that long. Thanks!

    One thing that isn't clear in the video is how the release lever works when removing the icemaker. This video and several others would make you think pressing the lever toward the rear of the refrigerator is what is needed. Actually pressing the lever down toward the floor releases the catch. Need to do that while pulling the unit forward.

    At 3:00 you mention replacing the 'electronic water [control] valve'. But you didn't show it. Can you describe where it is, part #?
    Which of the two items you replaced was bad? And how did you tell? Why did you replace both?
    As for 'shutting off the water' ... seems that wouldn't be necessary if you were only replacing the icemaker?
    Thx

    THANKS!! I wasn't sure on the removal, and before I tried it myself without knowing the tricks I looked and here you are on RUclips!
    My Ice maker went out about two years ago. I have a 2009 Fridge that uses the identical ice maker and other videos were close, but your is the same one. I am wondering though if the control board inside the ice maker could be replaced rather than paying for a whole ice maker. Pretty sure the small PC board in the head of the machine is the problem and would prefer to just replace that. Everything is on connectors so it looks like a replaceable part.
    Not sure the model number of the ice maker, but my fridge is a Model#: RFG297AARS, but there is also a BOM Name: RFG297ABRS/XAA that is a bit different and maybe more applicable?
    ALL the other electronics in the fridge work fine. But we are going to want ice this spring / summer! heh... ;-)

    Mine is stuck and I don’t know how in gods name to get it out. The catch isn’t holding it, it’s like the 2 nubs that it hangs onto aren’t letting go. I’ve been fighting this thing for days and just give up because it doesn’t want out.

  • @jasonshelton3898
    @jasonshelton3898 2 года назад

    If you are having trouble getting yours out and it won’t come out it’s because you have ice frozen in the back that you can’t see...just use a hot blow dryer inside until you don’t see water drops anymore...trust me i fought with mine for 3 hours wondering why the heck I can’t pull it out and finally I kept hitting it with the blow dryer and then pulled at it and it came out. And I could then see that it was ice buildup that was holding it locked in place.

    • @michaeljorgensen790
      @michaeljorgensen790 3 года назад

      I thought the same thing and then found the tab is easy to depress...you just don't hear any click. The secret is pushing the tab with your left finger and reaching under the assembly on the right side of it to get a good grip with your right hand to pull it forward as that tab is being depressed.

    Hi there. My ice maker makes ice 24 hours after I pressed the reset bottom. After that, it stops making ice again. So I end up pressing the reset bottom almost everyday. No water is frozen ice inside though. Just nothing. Does that mean that the ice maker is broken and needs to be replaced? Or there's another problem other than that?

    • @michaeljorgensen790
      @michaeljorgensen790 3 года назад

      I think you might be experiencing a problem with the "full bucket" sensor lever. On the side of the ice maker there is what looks like lever that is spring loaded. It looks like what happens is when a batch of cubes is finished freezing and is dropped into the bucket auger assembly that lever comes down and if it comes down far enough then the system knows to make another batch of cubes. If it can't come down far enough because the bucket is full then it knows to stop making cubes until it gets a signal that someone depressed the ice dispense on the front door. Because that "bucket full" lever is merely attached to a switch you can test it using a Ohmeter on the ice maker connector. You also might try (instead of a reset) pulling the bucket/auger assembly out and pulling down on the lever and putting the bucket back and wait 24 hours to see if another batch was made. If the spring or switch is broken you might be able to replace just those parts but if it was me I would just replace the icemaker and then take the old one apart to see if you can repair it and then keep as a spare.

    This video cost me a refrigerator. YOU HAVE TO DROP/RELEASE THE ICE MAKER DUMP TRAY BEFORE YOU TRY TO PULL THE ICE MAKER OUT. The delicate coil is inside, and if you just TUG on it like in this stupid video, it will break. MINE BROKE and now we have to go shopping for a new fridge. THANKS FOR NOTHING.

    • @michaeljorgensen790
      @michaeljorgensen790 3 года назад +4

      This model Samsung you can't even access the tab to release the ice maker until the Auger/bucket assembly is removed. So instead of saying "Thanks for nothing".....maybe you should realize this was not a "stupid video". The stupidity lies elsewhere. This is probably the video you should have watched-------> : ruclips.net/video/89RPiWxBcCg/видео.html
