How's she goin'? You know Nev, I think that is the best solution to this issue. It has happened on the Husqvarna and now the Estate Car, so maybe I should bite the bullet and do just that!! Thanks for commenting. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks for the comment. I do enjoy working on the machines, but this is the second case of hydro locking I've had here in the last month or so. I hope the new fuel filter will prevent this in the future. Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!
Another job well done. There's always something that needs fixing around the place or at least that's the way it is around here. I hope everyone is doing well and we'll be praying for you guys. See you on the next one.
How's she goin'? Thanks for your prayers Ronnie. God Bless you buddy! And you are so right about something always needing to be fixed or worked on. I have not been out doing 'regular' chores around the camp all summer and it sure shows. Take care!!
How's she goin'? Your continued prayers are the gentle push we need to stay the course Mike. Thanks for being there for us. Yes I was lucky again. Lots of gas in the oil sump, but no real damage done!! Take 'er easy and God Bless you!!!
Hi Mike great work getting the estate car going again - seems like the wait help drain the excess fuel. That gas caddy worked out well too. Thanks and cheers
How's she goin'? Thanks Ed. There sure was a lot of gas in the oil sump. It ran like water from a tap for awhile!! I appreciate you tuning in. Thanks and take 'er easy!!
In my experience I don't see dirt make its way to the needle valve preventing it from sealing. What I do see is the needle valve getting jammed in the carb body with a poor casting or a float that sticks . Aftermarket carbs with rough castings and poor part fitment. I suspect it will happen again unless you turn the fuel off every time.
How's she goin'? That could be Steve. When I saw the dirt I figured that was the culprit for causing the flooding because the dirt and scum would either jam the float and not let it close the needle or some grit would get on the needle seat and cause it not to close. Either way, shutting off the fuel is the 'best practice' eh!! But every solution has a problem, and the problem with this solution is, you guessed it, you have to remember to turn on the fuel!! LOL Thanks for the comment. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? You know Bill the weather sure is nice, but we are getting close to 'get ready for winter' season eh!! LOL Thanks for being here. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? This solved the hydrolocking issue, but the poor old estate car is still not well. It needs more attention soon. Thanks for the comment. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? This is the 2nd time in the last month that I dodged the 'hydrolocked' bullet!! No lotto tickets for me, I used up all my luck I think!!! Thanks for watching. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? I sure hope so Tom. This is the second machine I had hydrolock in the last month!! There must be a vaccine for this you would think eh!! LOL Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks Marc!! This engine I think had a hard life before I got it. And now it's hard life continues with this happening. Hopefully it won't happen again. I appreciate you watching and commenting. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Thanks. I changed the oil again and it still had some gas in it. I'm hoping it's just gas left over from "the great flood of '24" and not new gas leaking in!! LOL Take 'er easy and thanks for watching.
Nice tune up. Fresh and ready to go. Like I said before. If you want to avoid all of this in the future simply run to almost empty then put some ethanol free gas through your motor at the end of the season. No gas treatment needed. All of the big hardware stores carry it. It is spendy at about $20 a gallon, but it's worth it. A gallon will last you years cause it doesn't take much to clean everything out, and it doesn't go bad. Take care.
How's she goin'? I was in Canadian Tire today and had a look for some of this ethanol free gas and couldn't find any. Maybe if I asked at the counter. I have been using Stabil since Colonel Sanders was a corporal and never had issues with stale gas or gummed up carbs. I think both of these hydrolock issues were caused by dirt in the carb, not necessarily stale or gummed up gas. Take care and thanks for commenting.
How's she goin'? I'm liking the fuel dolly Len. I was some lucky that this problem didn't result in something more significant than just an oil and filter change. Thanks for commenting. Have a great week!!
I was worried your estate car was identifying as a two stroke 😂 Until the exhaust burns itself clean, it’ll have a fancy one of a kind anti-mosquito option…that should make it be worth more 👍
How's she goin'? Oh man, er I mean 'Oh person'!! I sure hope machines don't fall victim to gender neutrality!! The anti mosquito option maybe something I'll keep. It sure is handy! LOL Take 'er easy!!
I wonder why they call it hydro lock? Hydro usually means something to do with water... Anyway, nice video, glad the Estate Car is back in action! Cheers!
How's she goin'? Maybe it should be called 'hydra' locked, I'm not too sure. I always referred to it as hydrolocked since the engine was locked up with fluids, be they oil, gas or a combination of both!! LOL Take 'er easy and thanks for tuning in Mike!!
Its a terable thing for an engine to hydro lock and to have that much gas in the oil. they should run them engines with a pump but then that brings on other problems... Well done Mike, good fix,,,,CHEERS
How's she goin'? I agree Gator. Gravity feed fuel is a cheap was to get fuel to the engine, but if the float doesn't shut it off, this is what happens!! Thanks for the comment. Have a great week!!
Bonsoir Mon Ami, Vous avez une excellent station service mobile ( gas diesel )👌😇 That is not good when fuel leak goes everywhere 🥴Now this is a full engine flush with all the gas 😮Ouff the Engine Test Run Up Was needed for sure 😇👌👍 Fun Comment On Your White Board 🤣🤣👍👍 Be Well Mon Ami Cheers 🍻🍻
Comment ca va mon ami? Merci Dave. There sure was a lot of gas in the oil sump. It was draining out like water from a tap!! LOL And it was plenty smokey when I started it eh. I'll change the oil tomorrow and maybe the filter too. Merci d'avoir regarde la vide et bonne semaine!!
Hello there Lloyd!! Thanks buddy. The hydrolock issue seems under control. But the battery is bad and needs replacing and the engine doesn't sound too healthy. I'll change the oil again to see if that makes a difference. Thanks for commenting. Take 'er easy!!
Good one Mike. Float or needle could be sticking. I’d run it with a bit of oil in the gas. Good for the engine. Take care. Hoping Nannie is getting better, and that you both have a great week. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋🇨🇦
How's she goin'? A bit of oil in the gas would be a whole lot better than a lot of gas in the oil eh!! LOL Nannie is not doing too bad, thanks for asking. Take care!!
How's she goin'? Ha Ha Ha! You ain't lying. Lots of crud in the carb bowl so I'm also blaming the fuel filter. All cleaned up now and we'll see how it makes out!! Take 'er easy!!
I have never had a problem like that and it has happened twice to you. Lucky you have the knowhow to realize the problem. I am surprised at the amount of dirt in the carb with an inline filter. Feels good though when it's back up and running. Thanks Mike. Stevo
How's she goin'? I was amazed at the amount of dirt in the carb too Stevo. So that filter was changed out pretty quick. It has been working good ever since, but I'm not too sure I should trust it so I try and remember to turn the fuel off after I'm finished using it. LOL Thanks a lot for checking out the video. Take 'er easy!!
Hey Mike , nice fix . I always run my engine out of gas when I'm done . I also run a Fram 3614 oil filter on my engine like that and Ive had it since 2007 .
Hello there Del!! That's a good plan to run the engine out of gas. I use Stabil, that's a product that helps keep gas fresh and prevents gumming up due to ethanol. Not too sure what happened here because the carb was gummed up pretty good. Thanks for tuning in. Take 'er easy!!
How's she goin'? Shutting off the gas is not that hard to remember. Turning it back on, well that's a different story!! LOL Thanks for watching Vernon. Take 'er easy!!!
Mike, I thought of you last night 🌙...... Now, don't worry, it wasn't like that. I was filling my estate car with the 20 liter jugs, and what a mess I made. I need a fuel cady, lol. Those engines are pretty tough, so I'd say you're ok. Great job.
How's she goin'? Ha Ha Ha!! Nice to be thought of Kenny!! Like the spittoon said to the cross-eyed tobacco chewer, "It's nice to be missed once in a while."!! LOL You need a fuel dolly eh, I know where you can get plans!! LOL Take 'er easy!!
I've never heard oil draining from an engine making that sound. You seem to have a knack for unusual things, Mike. Thanks for bringing them to us! Good idea to flush and run with new oil before the final fill. This hydro-locking thing is new to me. I've not had an engine do this." Except for the dirt, the carburetor was very clean." ~(Quote of the day!) Great maintenance project. This estate car is ready for a day trip to town. Take Care, Be Good, and hello to Nanny!🐿🐇🐰🦫🐻
How's she goin'? I have never heard or seen oil drain like this before either. Man it was running out of there like when I used to have to take a leak at the tavern!! LOL Take 'er easy!!
@@GrampiesWorkshop Reminds me of the saying: Your battery needs a new car. There was more gas than oil in there. Glad you didn't explode. Now that would be a mess to clean up LOL Maybe you should do what all the top Mafia bosses do: Pay someone else $20 each morning to go out and start your vehicles!
How's she goin'? There sure was a of of debris in the bowl eh. I bought this machine used and it was sitting outside for a long time before I got it. When I looked in the tank it looked pretty clean and I installed one of those 'deal' fuel filters. I haven't changed it since and now I see this, so I think the debris comes form 2 probable sources: 1 - the old tank was never flushed when I first bought the machine and 2 - the fuel filter is inferior quality. I changed the filter but still have not flushed the tank. Maybe I should do that just to be safe eh! Thanks for commenting. Paul. Take 'er easy!!!
I hope you have managed to fix it. We once had an overseas carb that appeared to work as it should but everytime you looked the other way, it filled the sump with fuel 🙂 I hope yours is not like that
How's she goin'? Oh man, me too Joseph. This carb, and it's not the first one I installed from offshore, has been working great for over a year now. I think this failure was due to dirt in the carb and it getting stuck on the float and preventing it from closing. There sure was a lot of gas in the oil. Did you hear the sound of it draining? I have never heard a noise like that before. Thanks for watching. Have a great week!!
Hello Mike. She'll be fine but if you get black bits in the bowl again change the fuel line, I've had fuel line deteriorate and send bits into the carb, it would be the line after the filter. Good day my friend
How's she goin'? Hey Dave, thanks for this tip. I never thought of that but I have had that happen before too. You are a fount of knowledge my friend. I hope all is well with you and take 'er easy!!!
WOW MIKE, Great to see you chasing this problem down. I have heard of these catching fire. Nasty stuff eh. No one can tell if this is a nail in thr coffin of this Estate car. As long as it has mechanical bottom end bearings or has it got shell style ? It MAY continue to smoke and burn oil as the excess gas can glaze cylinder walls. Only our old nemisis"Time" will tel us that story. Great that you had some positive results this fine day. It's always great to see my old friend here today. Hugs for Nanny J and a good arm shake for you bud. Take care eh.
How's she goin'? Thanks for mentioning about the gas glazing the cylinder Dean. I never thought of that. I'll keep a close eye to see how that goes. It sure did have a load of gas in the oil though. Holy moly it was draining out like water from a bucket!! To tell you the truth I was kind of nervous to let it run for too long because of all the oil/gas that was in the muffler. I was kind of expecting it to ignite. But lucky for me it didn't. I'm toying with the idea of putting a stack exhaust on it. That would help with the oil/gas laying in the muffler if this ever happened again. And it might look pretty cool too! LOL Your knowledge of these type problems is immense Dean and I'm glad to have you on here dropping the little pearls of wisdom in your comments. Take 'er easy!!
