Best looking mid-sized sedan out! My ideal trim is the GT-Line AWD in Wolf Gray and red interior. Of course panoramic roof is a complete must. I've seen this car actually have people turn their heads! And the almost fastback look is what stands out the most to me. KIA is no longer just a KIA anymore. Put some respect in their name!!
I have a GT-Line AWD. The car is a great value. Mines in Passion Red. However, the car is seriously underpowered in my opinion. The engine is loud and does not have enough gettyup. Coming from a Ford Fusion Ecoboost Titanium, it feels like a downgrade. I would get the GT if it came in AWD. The AWD on the GT-Line isn’t great either but definitely a necessity in Michigan winters.
@@lincolnshirley4220 I test drove the AWD model and it drives fine to me. Different strokes for different folks!..I know it's not a fast car. And the GT is the way to go. But I want a AWD vehicle. I actually forgot the Fusion even exisited..lol. But my question is why buy the car if it don't like how it drives?
Now imagine they gave proper TLC to the K5 Model and made it a lift back or wagon... we can only dream of that. :(
@@David_Journey Then we won't have the Stinger.
I prefer the looks of the Hyundai Elantra nline
Is it Wood? That should have been the perfect opportunity for that ever so loving, Iguana.. LOL!!!
The KIA K5 is one of the best looking sedans in the market today.
Kia and Hyundai have explained that the mismatching buttons are so you can remember them by 'feel' so you don't look down at them. Yeah.
I test drove a K5 GT Line and the brakes are very touchy so I think its common on all trims. Plus it was kind of funny how the base engine still chirps the tires when you accelerate from a stop if you're not used to it. It also had a ton of leg room and thigh support. I'm 6' 3" and actually had to pull the seat up a little from the max setting, which is something that almost never happens. Very comfy for tall people. I really wanted one with AWD, but all K5s were so scarce that my local dealer couldn't find one, but he was charging 3K over MSRP for the 2WD version and wouldn't budge on the price. After scouring Northern and Central California looking for one I finally gave up and got a Subaru Legacy. Still kind of wish I had waited or special ordered on. I really like the styling and love that sapphire blue.
I own a 21 k5 GT LINE i bought new in May of 21. Southern California. Love it, quite peppy, goes up hills with ease unlike some regular 4 cylinders which struggle, the 1.6 l turbo doesn't. And the brakes....very touchy, especially 1st thing in the morning. However, they are very good, and stop the car very well at all speeds. I got the passion red, with premium package, glad I bought when I did, prices a little lower, and NO MARK UP!! Great review, as always. Your family is so nice.
Evie, Thank you for letting Micah zoom around the curves in a slightly unnerving manner. It's good to know if the cars are fun to drive and watching you hold on for dear life is also highly entertaining 🤣 Another great family review. I really like the K5!
I love the K5 GT, & I would get it in this color combination with the GT1 package which the car you reviewed has. This car is a stunner!
Congrats on 100K subs been awesome following your channel!
Is that wood ! Great review.
Fantastic video guys!😸
I really like the style of the K5! I think Kia is killing it in the design department!
Great vid, i liked the Family theme, keep it up Muzio
I am currently saving up for this car right now it looks so nice.
great review, thank you
I have a '22 K5 GT-Line, I opted for the AWD on this for my own climate circumstances. Well worth the money. I will say having a turbo engine takes time getting used to and some speeds lack power when flooring it. Overall a SPORTY vehicle and fun to drive for a good price. 8.7/10!
I thought about your comment about the lack of texture on one of the buttons on the steering wheel while driving my K5 GT the other day. The three buttons with texture can be toggled up and down as well as pushed in. For example, the volume button can adjust the volume up, or down as well as mute by pushing it in. The one without texture doesn't push in hence the lack of texture. Thanks for the video.
I never thought a sedan would wind up being more interesting than other types. Mahalo for choosing this car to test as opposed to an SUV. It's NOT your fault that SUVs are so prevalent and are the dull, default choice for so many of us. Signed: an old man without a car who rides a bicycle everywhere.
We test a LOT of SUVs. So it was a joy to drive something different for a change.
There is not just SUV and Sedan, people please realise there are hatchbacks, lift backs, and wagons... it's just that square-headed market does not get it... and thanks to CAFE regulations mid-size cars suffer and gas guzzlers are incentivised.
@11:52 "I love how your mind just spin on these things."
I'm the same way when I find things I wonder about; creativity right there.
Am I the only one that finds Evie to be adorable?
I love my 22 K5. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get on my car I have the Wolf grey with the red leather seats and it’s amazing. This my first official car and yes, the car has some bad things to it but that’s not enough for me to give up on the car like sell it or trade it. I’ve had my car now for bout 6-7 months and I’m still not tired or bored of it.
Bad things like what
Nice Bronco Bro t-shirt.
Micah, I've commented how your family is my favorite RUclips family. I've added one more item to my list of many reasons I like you so much! My wife has the same 8 and 4 hand position/elbow requirements as you! We're car shopping for her, and you've helped narrow our list down 😊. Can you recommend any other vehicles in a similar class to this with good arm rests?
Geez. I am WAY late to recognize your generosity. Sorry just saw this. First, thank you!! Second, among midsize sedans I like the Camry. I rated 85% inboard and 85% outboard. Cheers!
Great review! Amazing that the K5 doesn't have torque steer with 300 hp through the front wheels.
You guys forgot about the sun roof. Beside that the video was great keep it up
I wish that this GT trim with the GT1 package included a 7" gauge cluster helper screen or 12.3" digital gauge cluster, Blind Spot View Monitor, Remote Smart Park Assist, & multicolor ambient lighting the way other modern Hyundai & Kias offer. It would be perfect then in this color combination!
Great timing! I was literally just looking at this car today, specifically the GT trim. My two biggest issues were no AWD on the GT, and the old looking (to me) gauge cluster. I didn't drive it, so I'm curious about that power with FWD only. Now to actually watch this video and see what y'all have to say. 😎
If you want the digital gauges the Hyundai has them - the tradeoff is the lack of a heated steering wheel and fake suede seats.
I'm glad we timed this one so well for you, Brad! Hopefully we addressed your questions.
If AWD was offered on the GT I would have bought it, however with the climate I live in a 300hp FWD sedan was NOT acceptable. I have seen this too often with car manufacturers making a sub 300hp sedan/coupe FWD....
Wife has the gt-line awd and loves it, I think its nicer then my 21 sorento sx-p
I love my k5. Good alternative to the suv trend
They should offer this spec in other regions. Middle East we only get 2.5L non turbo
I like it, but dang that gloss black on the door panel…
Absolutely love my K5. Fun to watch reviews of the car I’ve chosen. And yes, the brakes take getting used to.
We always love hearing from actual owners. Cheers!!
looking good
You know for the longest time I thought the rear windows not going down all the way was a "safety feature" for kids...never realized it is just because it physically could not go down all the way 😅
I'm sure you're not the only one. :)
Trying to decide between this car and the Acura integra aspec w/tech. Help!!! Please
Would be nice if gt had the red interior and awd very nice looking vehicle
Thank you for pointing out the fact that the Kia K5 GT doesn't have torque steer. I test drove one and found out it had next to none.
Great review, thank you 🎩. Kia needs to work on their customer service dealership experience.
My big knock against this is the lack of digital gauges. You get the same chintzy looking gauges they’ve been using for years in cars like the Rio in the top trim? Even the Sonata has a digital gauge option.
The different textures on the steering wheel buttons allow you to know what button you're on without looking at it. It's strange that it's in the same car as the hard-to-distinguish infotainment icons.
11:30 maybe the textured ones are the ones that you can press (to control/operate something) and the one that does not have the texture isn't?
This is such a nice car but I can't help thinking it's a shame they didn't spend the extra whatever to give it an LSD because it has some trouble coping with the power and would be a lot more fun in a lot more capable coming out of a corner. Other than that, it looks nice, gets great MPG for the power, has a big back seat and lots of warranty.
Best looking sedan on the market.
I do think the value is there with the K5. However, to buyers in this segment that are not as value conscience, there are better options with select competitors.
nice car , I love K5
I like original owner warranty Kia offers!!
Mica and family you guys do great family reviews. But KIA has the worst dealership experience.... I would never but it again ever.
Aha! Another King Katamary fan!!🎉🎉🎉
Hi5!!
Cool fun 🤩
If I was looking for a sedan, the K5 would be it.
Idea for a new handling metric, Sweetie G’s, determined by the angle achieved by Evie’s hair as you go round a corner.
Ha. Love it!!
Having a Hyundai and a Toyota with both style door handles, its really annoying washing the Toyota and it keeps unlocking and locking. I prefer the button on the handle myself.
My wife has this. I actually hate the wireless CarPlay. If you have two phones who may be using it - it’s such a pain
Unless I missed it, others have said the dual clutch transmission shifts hard. Does that apply to this model or is it something Kia fixed?
The 8 DCT in the Sorento 2.5T have been very problematic. We've seen lots of owners get replacement transmissions already
11:55 I think that’s so you can feel which lever you’re touching without looking at it.
Yeah, but then why is it like that only on the left side?
One of the drawbacks is that it doesn’t offer the all digital Instrument cluster with the turn signal view. Very odd especially considering this is the top model, other countries offer it but not in the US.
That's an excellent insight. Cheers!
love katamari damacy!
Prior to watching this video today, I saw a car with what might have been curtain rods going through the front windows. I was wondering why the didn’t put them in the trunk with the seat down. Know I know. Must have been fixed rear seats.
That's amazing. Thanks for confirming my point!
Dammit Micah! Is it weird that I still high five the monitor if I watch until the very end which is most of the time actually. Worry I will actually hit the thing one day, lol. Awesome review as always gang, thank you.
With luck one of these days our paths will cross and you can claim a proper hi5. Till then, keep hitting that monitor!
I have been considering the 2023 K5 GT as my first "new" car but I am concerned with what people have been saying about the transmission and engine issues. On top of this, people seem to complain that Kia is very stingey about allowing customers from using the warranty. Any thoughts on this?
So as a new owner of the 23 GT I can confirm that you may have some issues BUT the warranty definitely makes for a little less stress. I just purchased my 23 GT on Wed and it's back at the dealer as of yesterday (Friday) with 135 miles on the odometer with engine codes 😭 they're fixing it under warranty. It's just inconvenient but I still love the car
@@tailorthetrucker7357 were you driving that car super hard from every stop???lol.
@@johnfranklin5277 I wish I was lol I didn't even get to go over 65mph yet. I picked it up from the dealer, drove home, went back to the dealer to get the car I drove up there in, drove back home and took my son to school the next day and the entire light came on as I was heading back home. I haven't even got dirt on the car yet lol
I wish it had digital gauges.
Is it wood? Innuendo Iguana! LOL
The design is beautiful especially in the evening and at night but I prefer the 2023 Accord Touring. Plus I trust Honda over Kia if I plan on keeping my car longer than 100k.
Did you guys have the car long enough to give a decent mpg review, if so what were you getting?
Good question! The problem is that we live on a mountain. With an elevation gain of several thousand feet, fuel economy suffers. We also shoot driving footage, which involves lots of full-throttle acceleration...further throwing off our numbers. Consequently, we never rely on our driving experience to gauge accurate real-world fuel economy.
@@MicahMuzio gotcha and thank you for the response!
My Gt (1500 miles now) has outperformed the specs. I think the specs are 32/24 and I have been getting 36/27. And that is with driving in sport mode most of the time.
@@davidpate7019 thanks buddy!
ya it's nice
U could have gotten the k5 gt-line which got most of the specs the gt have for 6 thousand less
I much prefer the Stinger.
What about the Altima?
Nissan Altima?
The pickup driver was a plant to help with the segue. Lol
Crap. You're on to us! 😂
This is the Germans version of the Honda Accord. I rented this on my vacation and I really really liked it. It handled so well and throttle response was amazing. It was very easy to drive, no drama.
U mean the Koreans ? Korean germans ? 🤣
@@jermainec2462 Hyundai which is a sister company to Kia, hired two German engineers to design their line up. One is from the BMW M devision he was hired to tuned engines and handling.
@@Packerm87 that doesn’t suddenly make the company German 🤣🤣
@@Carfan678 I never said it was a German company.
you know why one is textured and the other is not? its so you can tell the buttons apart without looking at it.
That would make sense if that approach was used on both sides of the steering wheel.
hot car...
Dealers all around me want $3-4k over sticker. Can’t stand greed. If people weren’t dumb enough to give into them they would change their tune quickly
Same way here in Palm Coast Florida.
If you can find 1 for 1500 to 2000 over you're in good shape. That's for the GT.
I will not pay over sticker!
I can wait. Fortunately I bought a Kia so I can afford to.
My Camrys shiny black plastic around the screen is annoying… This has waaaaay to much
Great looking car, both inside and out, but not as pretty as you and your family 😁And here's your K5🤚
That door handle was designed by a short person. My left knee was jammed into that door grab during the test drive; very painful. Pass.
A midsized .. *what*?
I have a 22 GT. Exactly same spec as this one and it was a huge mistake. Kia is not good to deal with at all.
Poor fuelmeconomy 17.3
Terrible engines?
DILF🥵
290 bhp?! You must have cheap fuel in US. 😀
Mrs Sofia is the best, recommending her to all beginners who wants to recover from their losses and gain more like I did through her strategies.
Who's this professional everyone is talking about I always see her post on top comment on every RUclips video I watched...
I think I'm interested how can I get in touch with Mrs sofia...
I'm from Germany I used to take loan from the bank for surviver but after trading with expert Mrs sofia she changed my financial status for real..
I'm now a creditor not debtor anymore...
It's not about watching videos and wasting your time on strategies, I was ignorant doing so. So I decided to try Mrs sofia and ever since then she's has made about $14,000 for on every $5,000 I invested just
Too many drivertrain recalls or fires 🔥 on Hyundai Kia products. I'll take an Accord.
You know, if Evie identified as an Hispanic (or Italian) female, she would no longer be "short". lol
KIA = Yuck!
I'd take a 2023 Accord Touring!
Stop it it's 2022 ...
@@jermainec2462 Still bottom of the food chain in 2022.
Viewed as simply transportation it is not bad, but as the old saw goes you get what you pay for.
@@edhcb9359 who told you that .... If you wanna go there then hell ford chevy and especially chysler been at the bottom for years ... That's one of the reasons they asses stop making sedans ... Kia Hyundai aint perfect but shit ill take them over the big three 90% of the time
