Having rented a K5 EX this week I can say I love the ride, smooth transmission, seamless Apple car play, and good gas mileage with decent low end torque. I even like the shifter. It really stands out form all the other generic shifters/button selectors. For the price this is a great car.
Its the same shifter as the 2016 dodge charger but more ugly. For the price you should be looking at a Honda. Kias are low quality standard and so are their service centers. There is a reason companies like Honda and Toyota are in the top 5 brands and kia isnt even rated in the top 10. They rank 14 out of 25 car brands. Thats not a flex.
I've recently seen an old El Camino SS here in germany, beautiful car and extremely rare here. That being said, I'd seriously be careful where I park that car. Your average Antifa thug mob will see the badge and probably ruin your car..

Which is basically just Kia packaging things oddly, therefore you get what you get. Pros: Great on gas. Rides super smooth on the road (sport mode is great). Best warranty 10yr/100k mi. Lots of tech and all the looks. Can't stop putting miles on it!
You guys dig with the best! “No highs, no lows, must be Bose,” is a classic I didn’t expect to hear in a car review. Most auto reviewers are clueless when it comes to audio.
The only other car reviewers i know that actually test and know audio during reviews is Savagegeese. I highly recommend checking out their channel, hands down the most thorough and in-depth automotive reviews on RUclips

I have a ‘18 Stinger GT2 (US). It’s more expensive, but other than the advantages you mentioned here, one of the biggest ones is that it’s a hatch back. Being able to fold the seats down and fit so much in there compared to a sedan is a huge advantage. Of course it also has rear biased all wheel drive and that rear bias makes a big difference over front wheel drive.

Definitely agree with Thomas on the shifter. I'd rather have a shifter instead of the push buttons,I can't give in to that concept quite yet. Loving the direction Kia Hyundai are going with their appreciation of sedans not being totally out of style! Only if GM would follow suit and give more emphasis on sedans instead of following the naysayers and criminally killing off the sedan!

I'm not ashamed that I drive a Kia. Mine is a 2009 Optima. On Saturday, it's turned 200,000 miles. Doesn't burn oil, never gets hot and the AC is cold. Best of all, it's paid off, so all I pay for is cosumables and insurance. I'm seriously considering a 2021 Sapphire Blue K5 GT and keeping the Optima for driving to work.
I’m in the US trying to decide between this and the Sonata N Line. I really like everything about both of them! The difference between the two comes down to just a couple tiny things. The ventilated seats pull me towards the Kia and the digital dash pulls me to the Sonata.
My brother just recently purchased a k5 gt! I’ve driven it and it’s an incredibly fun sporty car! The 8 speed dct helps the car feel a lot faster than it really is compared to my (6 speed sti)
In my opinion, the shifter fits well with the rest of the styling of the interior.. it works. They could have slimmed it down a bit to make it look less cheap.

But after slowly adapting my palette to Islay's and scotch in general, there's a bottle always in my cellar(for special occasions!). So, if you aren't an avid whiskey drinker, I don't think you'll like it. You can surely try out Laphroaig or Lagavulin 8 which are a bit subtle, approachable and comparatively reasonable. Cheers! 🥃

This is the first metallic grey GT I've seen. Reminds me more of my 2018 Elantra Sport. Just like with the 2017 Sport, the K5 borrows styling ques from Audi and makes an athletic looking and very cohesive and elegant sedan.
I wish the metallic grey was available for all of the k5 models. Only real downside for me personally with the k5 model. I'm looking at the gt-line awd and they dont offer the metallic grey for that trim.

I love the Stinger, but the price tag is a touch high, and running and maintenance costs are high, too, especially since they stopped offering the 4cyl version in Canada. Paying for premium doesn't sound too bad, "it's just a few cents more" adds up when you are using the car as a daily. If it's your weekend runner, track toy, or holiday wheels, it's not so bad, but those few cents become dollars fast. There are websites that calculate fuel efficiencies and estimate the costs per vehicle. When you see how much more you spend over a year, or five years, it paints a clearer picture of the costs. What else could you have put that money towards? And even making what I make (Which some people will still consider to be not much. I mean I am looking at Stingers and G70s, and not BMWs ,Audis, or Mercedes.), these days it's still smart to watch your bottom line. Great review, hilarious intro, and good job pointing out seat height. My wife is 6'1'', my brother in law 6'8", so passenger room is important to consider.

I did the Kia logo swap to the K. I’m not ashamed my cars a Kia, I just think a Flag ship should have its own logo. The K5 GT is an amazing step in the right direction for Kia. I hope they keep it up.
Man Hyundai has really been putting out some amazing cars for 7+ years now. Its starting to get very interesting i am sure Honda and BMW, and few other brands are taking notice. The prices are hard to pass up for anyone in the market for cars like these. Very impressive
I have a 2019 Forte and I love it, but I do love the K5. I would get one as my next car but I want to have my Forte for longer. I've just had it for three years and it feels like I just got it yesterday. I love the side profile of the K5 and the interior.
i actually like that fighter jet / star wars looking gear selector.. The K5 Chiseled look is pretty impressive.. i would give back half the power train warranty for a LSD option
Just had the base model K5 to test, and I thought it was pretty good (despite having the ugliest wheel/tire combo I've seen in years). But it's definitely "almost." I thought the ride was quite good, but the throttle/brake calibration and gearing wasn't quite Honda level. But it's a cool looking sedan for sure.
@Throttle House: Some of your shots leave a trail of purple ghosting effect. I thought it was my monitor's problem but I have checked it on my TV and Phone and it has the same problem. You can easily see it at 6:13 - 6:15. FYI, this is not your first video that I have noticed this.
The good thing about Korean brands is that some of them actually care about consumer responses so chances are Kia has or will be watching this and may hopefully take some of your advice to revise a future generation.

I did the Kia logo swap to the K. I’m not ashamed my cars a Kia, I just think a Flag ship should have its own logo. The K5 GT is an amazing step in the right direction for Kia. I hope they keep it up.
Man Hyundai has really been putting out some amazing cars for 7+ years now. Its starting to get very interesting i am sure Honda and BMW, and few other brands are taking notice. The prices are hard to pass up for anyone in the market for cars like these. Very impressive

I have a 2019 Forte and I love it, but I do love the K5. I would get one as my next car but I want to have my Forte for longer. I've just had it for three years and it feels like I just got it yesterday. I love the side profile of the K5 and the interior.

Just had the base model K5 to test, and I thought it was pretty good (despite having the ugliest wheel/tire combo I've seen in years). But it's definitely "almost." I thought the ride was quite good, but the throttle/brake calibration and gearing wasn't quite Honda level. But it's a cool looking sedan for sure.
This is my favorite review of the K5 definitely interested in one we’ll see what the 2022 brings

@Throttle House: Some of your shots leave a trail of purple ghosting effect. I thought it was my monitor's problem but I have checked it on my TV and Phone and it has the same problem. You can easily see it at 6:13 - 6:15. FYI, this is not your first video that I have noticed this.

The good thing about Korean brands is that some of them actually care about consumer responses so chances are Kia has or will be watching this and may hopefully take some of your advice to revise a future generation.
