What Joe stated made it seem like this wasn’t an option for the GT-line so I wanted people to know it is an option not just for the EX. But loved the video!

My last Optima was an 07, and it lasted over 230000 miles. Just purchased the K5 EX in glacial white with a “baby blue” interior. Such a nice car. It is actually nicer than my 2016 AUDI A6, I enjoy driving this one better! Keep up the great reviews!
Ooh a baby blue interior? That sounds like something I may need to look into 🤣🤣. Listen.. the K5 caught my attention the first time I saw it while we were on Vacation in Panama City Florida. The car was so ridiculously sharp in the Matte Grey I had to go over and investigate. I literally had no clue at all that it was a KIA, but I was pleasantly surprised, yet not surprised at all at the same moment 🤪. I had, by that time, discovered that the South Korean Auto Giant was doing anything but playing. Not sure if you can make it out, but my identification pic is of my 2019 Hyundai Veloster N. Bought the first one sold in Middle Georgia, Macon.. performance edition and a slick Manual which I prefer, and would purchase again if doing it over. I did get a chance to test out the Dual Clutch model when it was released. My Dealership actually called me when they got one in stock to give me first choice on that one as well 😂😂. They knew me well by this time because I was going to their lot on a regular basis to see the cars and I had made it known that I was going to be interested in it's arrival. Personally I knew the manual was my car because I was raised on three pedals, but my wife didn't want to drive it because of the stick and I felt kinda guilty for leaving her out 🤣😜😂😂. I think things happen the way they do for a reason however, and when I told her I was going to consider trading for the Dual Clutch model so she could get a crack at driving it from time to time, she laughed and said she wouldn't drive it because it was too small for her!! Well I was glad that she let me off the Hook because I had gotten a really nice deal with my N and they had added several thousand dollars to the sticker of the one that I tested. The car I bought in April of 2019 had sit on the lot for one month and the day that I realized it existed was day #31, and it was in my garage by close of business. See 5 Star Hyundai in Macon had been drinking their own Kool-aid and after the special "N" sales rep and self described "Genesis and Hyundai N car performance expert" returned from the initial Veloster N release/Training exposition complete with photos of him shaking hands with Albert Bierman and another one of him commanding the Helm of a race blue model while wearing full race suit and a complete helmet! I have noticed that every picture I have ever seen of someone inside of a fully furnished street car wearing racing gear and helmet, it reminds me of the Giant Black Bear at the circus riding a miniature tricycle 🤣😂😂😂😂!!! They just don't fit inside the car properly, and their heads are insanely large!! 😂😂😂

I really want one, ever since its been announced. Im not a small 4 cyl fan or a Asian car fan, I never thought I would say "I want a Kia!" but man do I want this beast! Great comparison review Joe!! I would wait for the new K5 GT to come out. 300hp and 311lb would be great for a car like this. Also, I would listen to the open-air cafe while going around corners, just my preference.
This video was soooo helpful. I was looking for this exact comparison. I walked out of my local kia dealership with an EX trim k5 just because of this video. so many extra options. Thanks dude
I work at KIA Weston dealership in Gresham, Oregon and I've bought me a blue EX (w/o the premium package) and mine has a wireless Apple CarPlay/Android auto, you do get a bigger screen with a premium package (as shown on the video) but you do sacrifice the wireless AC/AA. Just wanted to make sure people know that you can still get the wireless option with the EX trim level (just don't get the premium package)

Wish Kia would offer the same trim as they do in Korea with the Rotary Shifter and Digital Gauge Cluster, that would really step up the quality and 'wow' factor
I was going to drive my Sorento til the wheels fell off, but then the Telluride came out and I couldn't resist. Sold Sorento at 60k. Now adding (not replacing) the K5 GT hopefully with chestnut brown seats to the household. I'm on love with Kia! You get so many more bells and whistles, new technology and $5-10k lower than similar class. Warranty WAY better than American. Sorry would like to buy American but we need to step up to Kia levels, quality and pricing first.
To answer your question though, I would choose the GT-Line trim of the K5 over the EX, mostly because I don't like wood trim in the interior of my car. However, no heated seats or rear vents is a major zonk on the GT-Line. FWD anyway. The new GT would ultimately be my preference in the K5 lineup though. New performance info on the GT is now on the Kia site. 5.7 to 60mph, 14.2 in the 1/4 mile, and just shy of .95G on the skidpad, all very respectable in the class. They compare it to a BMW 330I, which it exceeds in every category.
I was not a fan of the Forte Gt line when they suggested it instead of the Forte GT I ultimately got. Now this GT Line I would definitely consider, especially that Red interior!
Instead of doing a random styling every year. Hyundai and Kia should focus on building a design linage instead. Linage is what they need right now to improve their brand recognition imo.
RomanticPopPunk so you want them to be like bmw or mercedes? even they are trying to change up their design because most customers always want something new
Why did they basically " detune" from that nasty 2.0T to the lower horse 1.6T? Is the car lighter? Love the looks ive got the.1 6T in my 2017 kia soul exclaim though. Love the reviews!
Keith Baker basically it comes down to EPA numbers, every automaker is being pressed to make more and more eco friendly cars which as you’d expect detracts from performance and power, although we’re still supposed to see a Turboed 2.5L K5 this year, which will be an awesome car if they stay true to that promise. With a power plant like that you could expect to see tuned numbers around 390-420 with mods.
@@johnfranklin5277 I sure do! 23k miles now. Still loving the car and hating the drivability issues. Unless someone totals it on me or it becomes unsafe to drive, I plan on having it a long time.

The GT-Line Is So Easy To Get.Ima Go With It Because It Looks Real Sporty I Don't Like That Way The Fake Exhaust Look I Wish It Was Real Instead Of The Standard Exhaust.
Sorry, Joe. The EX trim level does NOT allow a customer to option AWD. (7:24) According to KIA's "Build and Price" website AWD is available only on the LXS and GT Line trim levels. In fact, the K5 trim levels are rather complicated and it's easy to be confused. Here's a guide with information from the KIA website. () LX ($23,490 MSRP). A rather well equipped FWD base model with a variety of minor options but no major option packages and no AWD. () LXS ($24,490 MSRP). The additional $1000 adds a few amenities, bells, and whistles to the LX. More importantly, it adds several driver assistance and safety features. (e.g. Blind spot collision avoidance, rear traffic alert/assistance, and "safe exit assist".) Even more important, however, is that the LXS trim enables optional selection of AWD along with heated front seats for $2100 bringing the MSRP to $28,690. (It also deletes the LX "Idle stop 'n go" feature.) () GT-Line ($25,390 MSRP). The additional $900 brings a long list of upgrades, amenities, and additional bells and whistles to the LXS trim. More importantly, it includes access to several major option packages. The Premium Package provides a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, and upgraded safety features for an additional $1600. That brings the loaded GT-Line FWD to $26,990. Further, it enables selection of both the "Premium Package" combined with AWD for an upcharge of $3700. In effect that means AWD in the GT-Line is a $2100 upcharge over FWD. Finally, if if the "Premium Package" is selected, an additional $800 option (GT-Line Special Edition package) brings features like navigation and upgraded driver assistance. Fully loaded, the GT-Line with the Premium Package and AWD has an MSRP of $29,890. () EX (27,990 MSRP). This trim level provides even more upgrades and features to LXS and base GT-Line trim. In addition, it has an optional "Premium Package" of its own that adds a lengthy set of features that exceeds even the GT-Line's "Premium Package" plus its Special Edition package for an upcharge of $3400. That increases the MSRP to $31,990 plus TTL and delivery. At the same time, however, it's FWD only. No AWD option. BTW, the contrary Joe's comment, the "Premium Package" brings bluetooth wireless to the EX. () GT ($30,935 MSRP). Available in November this trim substitutes the 2.5L turbo 4 and 7 speed DCT for the engine/drive train of the lower trims. It offers 290 HP and 311 ft lbs of torque. with the same engine found in the forthcoming Sonata "N-Line" as well as in the Genesis G80 base configuration and the KIA Sorento. (Different HP and Torque figures depending on the tune.) And like the lower trims it also has a "Premium Package" (GT1) that largely matches the optional packages of the EX and GT-Line trims for an upcharge of $4000. Like the EX trim it comes only with FWD. Loading the GT with the GT1 package puts the MSRP at $34,950. Bottom line? If you want AWD and a relatively comprehensive set of amenities, bells and whistles, go for the GT-Line with its optional packages. Want even more amenities without AWD, go for a fully loaded EX for about $2100 more. Want your cake and performance, too? That's a fully loaded GT with the GT1 option package. But remember that the GT, like the EX comes only in FWD. At an MSRP of $35,000 its specs compare very favorably with the Accord 2.0L Touring, the Camry V6 XSE, and the Mazda6 Signature for several thousand dollars less MSRP. (Real world transaction prices may vary.) As noted, the options and trim levels can be very confusing. Best to check KIA's own "Build and Price" website for accurate information rather than relying on KIA dealers' salespeople. Either they don't know the details of various trim levels and option packages or they prefer to guide customers to the configurations they happen to have on their lots.
@@RaitisRides Yup. Stems from several factors. First, KIA has apparently found in their market research that the K5 (as well as the Seltos) appeals to two major groups of consumers. One group finds amenities, gadgets, bells and whistles especially appealing. A largely separate group of potential customers are prepared to sacrifice some of those features in favor of "sporty" looks, performance, and the handling advantages of AWD. Second, though all automakers spec their trim levels to meet specific price points, it's especially critical for KIA that still retains its reputation as a "value" brand priced somewhat below its competition. This division of a single market category into discrete sub-groups enables KIA to broaden a vehicle's overall appeal while containing prices. Furthermore, KIA (and to a lesser extent Hyundai) specs their vehicles with lengthy packages of features or wholly different trim levels rather than allowing customers to add or delete long lists of individual options. (A practice common among European premium brands.) Doing so has two effects. First, it eliminates the production complexity (and therefore the cost) of producing a huge range of slightly different vehicles some with a particular feature and some without. Second, of course, it encourages customers to purchase a more expensive trim in order to get one or more particular features they find especially appealing. Want a panoramic sunroof? It's standard on an EX or GT but comes in a package of other features on the GT-Line. Finally, it's worth noting that KIA doesn't offer AWD on the highest priced trim, the GT. How come? The same reason that the top trim Camry and Altima don't offer it. Doing so would presumably add $1700 to $2100 to the GT's MSRP, diminishing the K5's "value proposition" compared to its principal rivals. The V6 Camry constitutes only about 5% of all Camry sales. Even for the best selling midsize sedan, adding AWD wouldn't come close to being a profitable addition for the top trim V6 XSE. The same is undoubtedly true of the K5.

@Clutch Inc. I would say just get whatever suites your needs best. At the time I wanted a daily driver that got decent MPG so I opted for the EX, but the GT has a lot more power and consequently gets worse mileage. But if that isn't important to you, then just get the GT.
The EX trim K5 is literally the perfect car for me, it's everything I've been looking for and it's way more affordable than a BMW, but what's up with there being no wireless Android Auto? Like why would they remove that feature with the nicer infotainment system?

I really want one, ever since its been announced. Im not a small 4 cyl fan or a Asian car fan, I never thought I would say "I want a Kia!" but man do I want this beast! Its close to the stinger but I see it being a economy sport sedan. Something that fills a gap most people have, when choosing a economical, fun car. Im more of a v8 boat kind of person, Challengers, Grand Marquis, etc. But this? It just hits in all the right places it seems. Aggressive, good economy, looks like it would be a hell of a lot of fun to drive.
Cant wait to get one next year when all the bugs are sorted out!
That Kia K5 Gt is gorgeous I would buy that
Great information throughout the video…guy communicates in a way I’m hooked the entire time. Definitely subscribing and definitely consulting his review videos before my next purchase
That really means a lot! Thank you for joining the Raiti's Rides family!
I love the look of the GT, would you pick this over the Mazda 3 as the better sedan?
Kia is on fire. I am seriously impressed.
I totally agree with you!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS 💯💯💯💯💯💯
I just bought a civic sport. Should have bought this car. 😂😂
Should have bought a Civic Touring
Tbh this car almost embarrasses an Accord. The Civic has no chance.😂
That's my problem Honda accord, Camry? Now this 😳🤔
@@thatinformativeguy yeah but this is 32k before tax (GT, aka the only one that’s worth it).
@@SIIKAP1 The Accord is $32k before tax is it not? Besides base K5s start at $23,000 (before tax).
Great comparison review Joe!! I would wait for the new K5 GT to come out. 300hp and 311lb would be great for a car like this. Also, I would listen to the open-air cafe while going around corners, just my preference.
I can't wait for that one!
LOL... Raiti always makes his reviews a lot of fun.
No Zonks from me.
Outstanding video and presentation. I may buy the GT-Line in the Blue. Time to sell the old faithful and reliable 2008 Optima.
In my opinion the best one is the GT-Line with the premium package
This is what i am talking about H/k design cues. The signs capture my heart at first sight unlike acura tlx.
I love the way you think.
I agree totally. Their design team is top notch.
Your funny commentary reminds me of the Car Talk guys on the radio. Looking forward to more of your commentaries.
Just booked my GT while back..excited..the drive feel is awesum.
This video was soooo helpful. I was looking for this exact comparison. I walked out of my local kia dealership with an EX trim k5 just because of this video. so many extra options. Thanks dude
Do they give you the option to get the red seats?
I work at KIA Weston dealership in Gresham, Oregon and I've bought me a blue EX (w/o the premium package) and mine has a wireless Apple CarPlay/Android auto, you do get a bigger screen with a premium package (as shown on the video) but you do sacrifice the wireless AC/AA. Just wanted to make sure people know that you can still get the wireless option with the EX trim level (just don't get the premium package)
Okay!!! That really did crack me up...but as per usual you hit all the details that I wanted to know about. You really do know your reviews out of the park. I will have to go check this out in person. Thanks to you and your team...but let the poor man go to Bush Gardens!!!!!
Thanks Mathew! I really appreciate your awesome support!
“About 12, no joke. I don’t joke about Twinkie cream!” Lol I love it.
Wish Kia would offer the same trim as they do in Korea with the Rotary Shifter and Digital Gauge Cluster, that would really step up the quality and 'wow' factor
You are not alone with that complaint.
Yep, the foreign versions are much better than the american versions.
Yeah because of this, I just can’t bring myself to buy this car right now. I’m holding out until they bring over those features it really deserves
I think K5 is best looking mid-size sedan at this moment.
Best review online by far. It’s all about the details other miss. Great job . You answer many questions of mine
Also the warranty is much better than Toyota, Honda, Nissan.
This was very informative. Great video!
Thanks for taking the time to say that and letting me share it with you.
I totally agree with you Wayne!
The fact that they didn't even change the design of the wheels for the gt line (a sport inspired trim) is a zonk for me. Otherwise sick car
both look amazing!
I am so glad that you like this one.
No brainer the GT-Line is the way to go!
I was not a fan of the Forte Gt line when they suggested it instead of the Forte GT I ultimately got.
Now this GT Line I would definitely consider, especially that Red interior!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
K5 GT will be mine 💯
If they add the digital gauges and the push button transmission like the sonata, I’d buy one
Great comparison! One correction, though: AWD is not available in the EX, only in the LXS and GT-Line.
D K ex does have AWD
And is available on the EX. Not available on the GT with the 2.5 engine. Unfortunately.
Instead of doing a random styling every year. Hyundai and Kia should focus on building a design linage instead. Linage is what they need right now to improve their brand recognition imo.
Can you please elaborate on this?
RomanticPopPunk so you want them to be like bmw or mercedes? even they are trying to change up their design because most customers always want something new
Im getting the 2.5 when my Gen 3 SX gets old. I’ll be sad to see her go though, so much fun and power from a 2.0T
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Why did they basically " detune" from that nasty 2.0T to the lower horse 1.6T? Is the car lighter? Love the looks ive got the.1
6T in my 2017 kia soul exclaim though.
Great video! Such a deal breaker, I love the GT Line, but I need those AC vents in the back. I wish that was an additional optional.
Leatherette on an EX??? Good lord. Nice review! Thanks!
I know how you feel David!
I just got my glacier white All wheel drive GT line with heated seats heated steering wheel
So hard to pick one when both a them so clean an looks so nice ..💎😍🤗👌
Thanks for the great review. It goes a long way in helping me make my decision.
I would just wait for the GT. I’m not digging the “heartbeat” Lights. Nice two for one review Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks Larry! Good call.
I'm not a fan of the entire rear end. Looks stumpy and overly styled with the bumper craziness.
@@palebeachbum hey dude , haven't seen you around for awhile. You still have your Elantra??
@@johnfranklin5277 I sure do! 23k miles now. Still loving the car and hating the drivability issues. Unless someone totals it on me or it becomes unsafe to drive, I plan on having it a long time.
@@palebeachbum sorry for the late reply! I bought a new K5 GT LINE with premium package in passion red last May. Love it. I kept my 17 Elantra, you may remember I bought it new in june of 16. Just turned 94.000 miles, 0 repairs or issues!! It's been excellent ! My commute to work is 79 miles round trip, so I'll use the Elantra mostly for that, helps keep miles down on the new car. they do such a great job at having all the different options

That is strange! I like to show all the details when I can. Thanks for tuning in.
Kia is coming out with a GT model in November 2020. Cant wait to get mine.
We just purchased a 2021 K5 GT-Line Special Edition. It was a tough choice between the K5 and an XSE Camry. You can’t go wrong with either choice.
Way better look than a Camry
I would get a Mustang GT, ooops sorry, I meant the GT line :)
LMAO! You are awesome!
Lolz.
Camaro 2 SS I think his wife doing a review would be pretty cool. Maybe review cars that are more family or women oriented
The GT-Line Is So Easy To Get.Ima Go With It Because It Looks Real Sporty I Don't Like That Way The Fake Exhaust Look I Wish It Was Real Instead Of The Standard Exhaust.
Just got my yesterday gt 5 love my car
I'm so getting the GT Line
(It also deletes the LX "Idle stop 'n go" feature.)
() GT-Line ($25,390 MSRP).
(Real world transaction prices may vary.)
As noted, the options and trim levels can be very confusing. Best to check KIA's own "Build and Price" website for accurate information rather than relying on KIA dealers' salespeople. Either they don't know the details of various trim levels and option packages or they prefer to guide customers to the configurations they happen to have on their lots.
Super complicated
Rather wordy, but spot on. LXS and GT-Line are the only ones with available AWD.
I got the EX instead of the GT because an extra 5 mpg is more important to me than 110 hp for my daily driver.
hi i hope you reply lol. i was debating the gt line and ex. gt line has wolf gray and red interior and gt seat stitching which i love... the ex doesn't have wolf gray and idk how i feel ab the silver color.. is it better

It's not they removed it, it never had it.
@@RaitisRides poor choice of words, why wouldn't they INCLUDE that feature?
@@RaitisRides they did have it, only available for the 8 inch stereo on the 2021 K5.
