So excited to be able to share our full review on the K5 GT. Be sure to watch our review on the 2021 Sonata N-Line if you haven’t seen it! For the same money, would you pick the Kia or Hyundai? Let us know below!
I personally would pick the Sonata N-Line due to the futuristic tech and more quirky exterior, but others would pick the K5 GT for its more traditional interior and so-so restrained exterior. AWD? Not a chance on earth as long as the G70 & Stinger is around. We have a better chance seeing a K7/Cadenza with AWD before the other vehicles get it. So, i guess the only that is available is a LSD. H/K should've made LSD standard for all their performance models. If not, the can sell us a mechanical LSD via N/GT performance parts catalog.

@Adolfo. So buy this K5 then. ** However, the 2.0T Accord is still a better driver's car with nearly the same acceleration as this car. Go read Car and Driver's 10 Best issue.
The K5 GT is definitely a nice addition to the family sedan crowd. Love the sound of the engine! Sofyan's tester comes in at $35k. Not bad, but I got my Stinger GT AWD for $39k, so for a few thousand more you can get more of a luxury/sport KIA that can go 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. Something to consider. Maybe you can get the price down somewhat at the dealer.
A huge change with these 2021 Hyundai and Kias are the new 2.5 turbo and non turbo engines now have Multi-Port Injection as well which solves the issue of carbon build up and burning through oil (eventually setting fire to the engine) that older models had. This is huge and makes these cars much more reliable. I'm not sure what other brand still has Port Injection besides Toyota. That's a huge reason Toyota's are still super reliable.
Kia makes AWD standard across all trims, which have the 1.6T, in Canada but then only offers the 2.5T in FWD, the engine that'll actually need the additional traction from the back two wheels. Strange.
@@greg.anywhere ya but the difference is so small it’s doesn’t even matter, and the stinger is wider and is a sport back so overall size it’s bulkier, also the reason k5 is considered the baby is due to engine size

I love your reviews!! Thank you!! I want a Stinger but I'm going to have to settle with the K5. 60k for a Kia is way too much. But honestly if it wasn't for the gigantic depreciation hit that all Kia's get but specially the Stinger I would happily pay 60k for a Stinger.
@Ayush Malpeddi zero frustration on my part, I'm just an internet commentator that has no intention of buying this car. Just brining forth the fact they got rid of one of upscale features that was offered previously is all. Basically i live close a city, so power folding mirrors are nice convenience--suburban America doesn't matter so much.
Ummm...I thought the Stinger and the G70 were the European sport sedan alternatives from Hyundai/Kia/Genesis🤔...really, Redline??? That’s no slight against the K5. I think the whole really powerful FWD burnout sensation is hilarious, too! But I definitely wouldn’t go so far as to consider this an alternative to European sports sedans, especially when they have the Stinger and G70.
@zach busman Even still, though, the G70 and Stinger still represent extremely compelling value propositions in comparison with the German options while still being much more comparable vehicles to those German entries overall. Sofyan’s push of the whole “discount European luxury sedan” idea just strikes me as regurgitation of the Kia marketing talking point.
@Ayush Malpeddi In every metric? Are you sure? I mean I have nth against the K5 and kias in general, but you can't compare a mainstream fwd car to a rwd luxury car.
@@greenrada509 you can if the lUxuRy Germans do not out perform in most areas, especially because they are German Luxury sedans that are double the price or just 15-20k more a lot of the time
This is literally Kia's own marketing strategy. They have commercials comparing it to the German compacts. That's why Redline is referencing this. Some people may want the extra legroom with comparable price and performance and not care about the luxury brand name.
The only thing missing are the camera screens/digital displays... the camera/screen showing what's in your left/right lanes in place of the speedo/tach is one of my favourite features in Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles..
Looks great in that sapphire blue paint. If I'm not wrong, that's the same engine used in the 4-cylinder version of the Genesis G-80 and GV-80. I prefer more KIA's K5 design than the Hyundai Sonata.
I personally like the Sonata with that gold yellow paint, really sporty! I'm not into that fastback look that reminds me of the Accord.. I prefer the look of the stinger hatchback over this.
This car seems to be surprisingly more exciting and sort of unexpected. Everyone who talks about this car shows more excitment than talking about an accord or camry or altima. Seems like the launch control allows for some wheel spin. This car would shine flooring it from a roll. I believe the accord will walk it from a dig just due to the traction issues but from a roll the GT would run away. I definitely want one and I rather have one instead of blending in with a sea of accords. Great job Kia!

I’ll give it to the Kia. A lot of it looks great!! I wish it had some of the tech features from the Sonata, but I prefer the looks of the K5.
What are the tech features that the K5 does Not have compared to the Sonata?
Outstanding review, I tried to race one of these today, but he wouldn’t bite. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺🍺
Can’t justify getting a 2.0T accord with this around the same price.
And better interior
Nah the justification is in there, kia doesn’t have much of a reputation in terms of reliablity and longevity
@@dedgar6161 they’re starting to lose that reputation though, getting rid of the v6 and throwing in turbos was a huge bust for Honda.
@@dedgar6161 I still pick this over a Honda I’m not keeping a car for 100 years😂😂
@Adolfo. So buy this K5 then. ** However, the 2.0T Accord is still a better driver's car with nearly the same acceleration as this car. Go read Car and Driver's 10 Best issue.
Kia and Hyundai are really stepping up there game
Just watched the entire video, another fantastic one!
This looks so much better than the Sonata and definitely needs a limited slip diff. Beautiful car
2.5 or 3.3? Because website starts at 52k for the 3.3 not including awd
A K5 GT with the GT1 package for about $37K is a bit steep but worth it in the long run.
Great review, glad I watched.
man if someone was looking for a midsize sedan i think id point them to this and not an accord and i never in a million years would have thought that
Power with no grip, what's the point?
A huge change with these 2021 Hyundai and Kias are the new 2.5 turbo and non turbo engines now have Multi-Port Injection as well which solves the issue of carbon build up and burning through oil (eventually setting fire to the engine) that older models had. This is huge and makes these cars much more reliable. I'm not sure what other brand still has Port Injection besides Toyota. That's a huge reason Toyota's are still super reliable.
That's a very nice blue. Maybe the prettiest I've seen!
Saw a gt-line in white the other day. Very impressed!
Definitely way more desirable than any SUV. This doesn’t scream mommy mobile. Kia and Hyundai have really stepped up their game.
You KNOW the car is great when Sofian laughs non-stop while driving it😆👍
all season tires, no LSD or AWD? lol even Kia doesn't believe this is a sport sedan...
Been waiting for your review of the GT version!
Kia makes AWD standard across all trims, which have the 1.6T, in Canada but then only offers the 2.5T in FWD, the engine that'll actually need the additional traction from the back two wheels. Strange.
I'd be sold on it if it had a manual. IMHO, that's what truly makes a car feel like a sports performance model. Otherwise. This car is awesome
Clicked before I could get a breath out.
Amazing👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Funny how it's much bigger than a stinger but is referred to as a "baby"
It’s smaller though
@@adilsagadiyev5090 The k5 is longer and taller lmao
@@greg.anywhere ya but the difference is so small it’s doesn’t even matter, and the stinger is wider and is a sport back so overall size it’s bulkier, also the reason k5 is considered the baby is due to engine size
@@greg.anywhere The K5 is definitely lighter...
Since Kia has decided to make an all-wheel-drive version of this vehicle. Could you do another test drive on the all wheel drive?
Another great video. At this price thought they couldve added some interior lighting. At least on the doors or on the ground. But I like the car..
More nitpicking...
This is sweeter than bmw and Audi knowing you can still burn out and get off the line without draining your pocket insurance and maintenance by all means, one of the best re design sedans in the market,I rented one and boy I don’t want to return it,I felt the attraction after just a week of driving, smooth fast and silent if you just wanna unwind and relaxed, overall it’s a price you can’t beat.
He is really enjoying his time 😂 good job Kia!
Kia use to offer power folding mirrors on the Optima, looks like they are not offering it all now on any trim. Boooo!
Hopefully they offer it next year as part of a convenience package.
my 16 forte5 sx has that lol
My K5 has power folding mirrors.
AWD, limited slip differential, a red interior and some ambient interior lighting and my goddd this would be perfecttt
It has all of that in canada
@@adilsagadiyev5090 you sure? I highly doubt that red interior and ambient lighting I can believe but the awd def no country has it
@@ThargyalKungaTV Canada has it on all but one model
I completely agree! I am perplexed as to why he compares a fast fwd mainstream car to rwd luxury sedans. They are in completely different segments.
I think they want to keep Hyundai slightly above kia that's why some features are only reserved for Hyundai vehicles
Looks great in that sapphire blue paint. If I'm not wrong, that's the same engine used in the 4-cylinder version of the Genesis G-80 and GV-80. I prefer more KIA's K5 design than the Hyundai Sonata.
It sure is!
The gauges really hurt this car. This car has so much potential. And soon this will be Kia’s sportiest car.
